Nichume Siwundla, a beautiful South African vocalist has reportedly committed suicide.
It is reported that Nichume jumped off a building in Johannesburg on the 9th of June which led to her death.
In a statement released by her record label, Top Chap Media, they confirmed the reports that Nichume died from an apparent suicide in her Johannesburg home.

On Monday, the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal will resume sitting on the petition filed by the Peoples Democratic Party and its candidate in February 23 presidential election, Atiku Abubakar.
Meanwhile, there were indications on Friday that the President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa, had appointed another judge as her replacement on the five-man panel to hear the case.
This comes as Justice Bulkachuwa withdrew as a member and head of the five-man panel on May 22, following the allegation of the likelihood of bias levelled against her by the PDP and Atiku. The tribunal was said to have issued and served the notice for the Monday’s hearing on all parties to the petition on Friday.
The leader of the legal team of the PDP and Atiku, Dr Livy Uzoukwu (SAN), confirmed the development to Punch on Friday saying “we were served the notice today that the court will resume hearing on Monday”.
Asked if he was sure that Justice Bulkachuwa’s replacement on the panel had been named, Uzoukwu said, “It is the presumption that we arrived at when we received the hearing notice on Friday. But we do not have any information about it”.

Nigerian Lady calls out a conductor in Onitsha who she said touched her private parts . She recounts the incident and is scared something might be wrong with her now.
A lady has taken to Instagram to recount how a bus conductor molested her by touching her private part while she was on her way from Onitsha to Asaba after she went for her Nysc clearance. The lady claims she was fully dressed in her NYSC uniform when this happened and she didn’t hesitate to give the conductor a hot slap with her slippers.
She is now scared her private parts doesn’t feel right anymore, insinuating the conductor might have done something to her and she desperately needs to find him. See photos of him she shared below.

After rendering him the slaps and some of the men there pacifying me, I entered a bus and tried to take his picture, that’s what you saw in this first picture. I was still boiling, so as the bus moved, I asked the driver to stop at Zenith bank, I had the intention to involve the authorities. So I made a withdrawal, went back to the park, I wanted to get a clearer picture of him and I did, that’s the second picture. Then I went to the cantonment and got 2 army men but when we got there, he was gone, I was put in a bus and came back home.

The Makurdi zonal office of EFCC on Friday, June 7, 2019 arraigned one Moses Peter Adoga before Justice Simon O. Aboki of the Nasarawa State High Court sitting in Lafia, Nasarawa State.

Adoga was arraigned on a one-count charge for dishonestly converting the sum of N19,765,200 (Nineteen Million, Seven Hundred and Sixty Five Thousand Two Hundred Naira), being a Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND) grant to study for a PhD, to other purposes, an offence punishable under Section 312 of Penal Code Laws.

The count charge reads: “That you Moses Peter Adoga sometime in 2011 in Keffi within the jurisdiction of this Honorable Court being entrusted with the sum of N19,765,200 (Nineteen Million Seven Hundred and Sixty Five Thousand Two Hundred Naira) from Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND) paid into your United Bank for Africa account through Nasarawa State University Diamond Bank Account for the purpose of Academic staff training and development at Bangor University in the United Kingdom; did dishonestly convert same to your own use and thereby committed a criminal breach of trust contrary to section 311 and punishable under section 312 of Penal Code Laws".

He pleaded 'not guilty' to the one count charge. In view of his plea, prosecution counsel, Mary Onoja prayed for a date for the commencement of trial. She also prayed that the defendant be remanded in prison custody pending the hearing of his bail application.

However, the defense counsel, S. K. Sheltu orally applied for bail for his client and Justice Simon O. Aboki granted the defendant bail in the sum of N2, 000, 000 (Two Million Naira) with two sureties in like sum. The defendant is to surrender his international passport to the registrar of the Court.The Judge adjourned the matter till July 10, 2019 for commencement of trial.

Troubles started for Adoga, a lecturer with the Department of Microbiology, Faculty of Natural and Applied Science, Nasarawa State University Keffi, when a petitioner alleged that the suspect obtained a Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND) grant for the sum of N19, 756, 200 through Nasarawa State University in 2010 to study PhD in Cellular and Molecular Biology at Bangor University, United Kingdom.

He obtained this money under disguise of overseas PhD training and never presented any evidence of going or graduating as he claimed and yet he kept giving excuses. Analysis of his statement of account showed that the suspect diverted the funds for business and sundry purposes other than the reason why the funds were given.

Eight years after the grant of the money to the suspect, he could not produce PhD certificate from any University.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has reacted to a court ruling ordering the issuance of a certificate of return to Rochas Okorocha, the substantive winner of the Imo West Senatorial district election.

Justice Okon Abang of an Abuja Division of the Federal High Court, yesterday ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to issue the Certificate of Return to former Imo State governor, Rochas Okorocha, who won the March 9th election for the Imo West Senatorial district. The judge argued that INEC lacks the constitutional power to withhold the Certificate of Return of a politician who has been declared winner of an election. Read here.

Reacting to the court judgement, National Commissioner of the Commission’s Committee on Voter Education and Information in INEC, Festus Okoye, said the commission will meet and do the needful.

His statement reads

”The attention of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has been drawn to the judgement of the Federal High Court, Abuja, presided over by the Hon. Justice Okon Abang, directing the Commission to issue a Certificate of Return to Rochas Okorocha as the Senator-elect for Imo West Senatorial District.
The Commission is also aware of and has been served with the Order of a High Court of Imo State, presided over by Hon. Justice Njemanze, directing the Commission not to issue a Certificate of Return to any of the candidates that contested the Imo West Senatorial District election. The Order from the High Court of Imo State was issued on 23rdMay 2019 and the suit has been further adjourned to 26thJune 2019.
The Commission is aware that the judgement delivered by the Federal High Court, Abuja is the latest in time and determined the rights of the parties in relation to the subject matter of the Certificate of Return, in respect of the Imo West Senatorial Election.
The Commission is currently undertaking State level reviews of the 2019 general elections and all the National Commissioners are either in or heading to their States of Supervision to coordinate activities relating to the said review.
In view of the import and directives of the said judgement, the Commission will meet as soon as practicable to do the needful.
As a law-abiding institution, the Commission will continue to obey judgements of all courts of competent jurisdiction.
However, the Commission’s overriding consideration is the safety of its ad-hoc staff, Electoral Officers and Collation/Returning Officers and is worried that if electoral impunity is allowed to flourish, any individual can harass, intimidate and put the Commission’s officers under duress, procure a favourable declaration and be rewarded with a Certificate of Return.”

Twenty four hours after its license was withdrawn, AIT is back on air.
This comes after Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court Abuja, earlier today gave an order that the NBC should maintain status quo and allow the media stations air their programmes without any further hinderance.
Recall that the National Broadcasting Commission, NBC, yesterday suspended the license of DAAR communications, owners of AIT and Ray Power, on grounds that the stations failed to follow its broadcasting guidelines.

One of the Federal Government‘s social investment programmes, N-Power, has confirmed when it will pay the stipends for the month of May.
The scheme, N-power which currently has about 500,000 youth graduates deployed to provide public health services in teaching, health, agriculture and tax and monitoring, confirmed the pay date via its twitter page.
While responding to a query from a beneficiary, believed to be a Muslim, who is expecting the payment to prepare for Eid ul-Fitr (“Festival of Breaking the Fast”), N-power stated ‘soon’.

In case you missed it, the NYSC portal registration which opened at exactly 12 Midnight on Saturday, June 1 will only last for only 12 days, from June 1st to June 12.

In order to ensure a seamless registration, prospective corps members are to note the following for strict compliance:
Prospective Corps members should ensure that they have functional e-mail addresses that they can access and Nigerian (GSM) telephone numbers with which to register. They will use the Email address and password to login to the NYSC portal subsequently and so are advised to keep it safe.
Locally trained prospective Corps members are expected to use correct Matriculation numbers to register.
For locally-trained graduates, only those whose names appear in the Senate/Academic Board Approved Result lists submitted by their Institutions will have access to the register on the NYSC portal.

Foreign-trained prospective corps members/those who acquired on-line qualifications should ensure that their Institutions are accredited. They should approach the Federal Ministry of Education for evaluation. The letter of evaluation must be uploaded during registration.

Those who graduated from Institutions outside Nigeria, (Foreign-trained graduates) or obtained on-line foreign certifications, are to visit the NYSC portal, register and upload the following documents:
a. West African School Certificate(WASC) (with not less than 5 Credits at 2 sittings) or its equivalent; or General Certificate of Education (GCE O’ Level) (with not less than 5 Credits at 2 sittings) or its equivalent; or NECO (with not less than 5 Credits at 2 sittings) or its equivalent; or High School Diploma or its equivalent.
b. First Degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) Certificate (Second Degree or PhD not necessary).
c. Complete Official Transcript of the first Degree or HND.
d. International travelling Passport showing personal data page and date of departure.
e. ATTESTATION LETTERS OR TESTIMONIALS are not acceptable in lieu of original Degree/HND Certificates.
f. All working class Graduates and graduates of online foreign qualifications are required to upload their original ADMISSION LETTERS and LETTER OF APPROVAL from their respective employers to undertake their courses, as the case may be.
g. All graduates of Medicine and other health-related courses such as Nursing Science, Laboratory Science, Physiotherapy, Pharmacy etc MUST possess and upload current-professional license. An expired license is not acceptable for mobilization.
It is the responsibility of the prospective corps members who studied in non-English speaking countries to get their Certificates and Transcripts translated into the English language before uploading. Such translation must be done in the accredited Institutions or Embassies.

All graduates of Medicine, Veterinary Medicine, Physiotherapy, Radiology, Optometry, Medical Laboratory Science and Pharmacy are expected to have their Certificates of Registration with their professional bodies. Payment receipts are not acceptable.
Unlike in the past, Foreign-trained graduates should NOT visit NYSC Headquarters, Abuja for verification of their documents. This exercise will now be done at the Orientation Camps. They should simply print their call-up letters online and report at the Orientation camps in their States of deployment but should come to the camp with the original documents they uploaded for verification.

Anybody who presents any fake document will be demobilized and decamped and handed over to law enforcement agencies for prosecution.
Prospective corps members should ensure that Passport photographs used meet the following specifications:
Ensure your face (eyes, nose, ears, mouth and jaw) is fully shown without bending Ensure the picture fills the frame and centralized Ensure the Photo background is white or off-white with no shadow.
On no account should prospective corps members register by PROXY. They should also remember the fingers used for their biometric capturing as these will be used for verification at the orientation camps. Those who cannot be verified with their biometric at the orientation camp will not be registered.

Only prospective corps members who want their call-up numbers sent to them through SMS and wish to PRINT their call-up letters on-line are expected to pay N2,786.24 (see NYSC Portal on how to make a payment).

Prospective Corps members who do not want to pay the N2,786.24 have the option of going to their schools to collect their call-up numbers and call-up letters.
All prospective corps members who paid for the online registration before but were not mobilized need not pay again.

Married female prospective corps members (whether locally or foreign-trained) should upload copies of their marriage Certificates, evidence of Change of name and their husbands’ place of domicile during registration.

The orientation camp is highly not ideal for pregnant and nursing mothers. Prospective corps members in this category are therefore to note that they will not be accommodated.

Aside acting, what else do you do?
I am a very busy woman. I am into so many things. First, I am the chairman of Actors Guild of Nigeria, Delta state chapter, (AGN). I am a politician; presently, the majority leader and counsellor, Aniocha South Local Government Area. I hail from Ogwashi-Ukwu town.
I am also the managing director of Last Point Resort; the CEO Regina Daniels Children Foundation; the CEO, Chris Daniel Nigeria Limited; an officer in Director Guild of Nigeria; and a producer.
People feel you pushed your daughter into acting because of money and that you want her to take after you an actress?
Not really; nobody makes one a star. It’s only God that has the power to lift from nobody to somebody. Yes, I am a good actress who is also talented.
But my daughter started when at the age of seven. She loved watching movies and acting at home. Though I didn’t allow her to watch Nigerian movies because of her age, she followed me to locations and made friends with a lot of actresses and actors.
Anytime she saw little children on locations, she would beg me to allow her be part of the cast but I would refuse. She kept on pestering me until one day, I allowed her to act in a movie.
She was very happy. She started practicing at home. Everything my daughter knows about acting I taught her. I encouraged her not to be nervous and she listened to me. She started as low as N5,000. She still acts for free to date if I want her to act. She is humble and very obedient.
How often does she get movie role?
She is a lucky child. She is always on set. I just thank God for everything. As soon as she is concluding a particular movie, they are calling her for another one. It got to a point that I had to plead with some of her directors and producers to allow her concentrate on her studies. If not, there is no week that she will not be on set.
Has your celebrity status deprived you of anything in life?
I believe it is a normal thing for you not to be everywhere as a star. But, I am not mindful of that. I have a business I run. So, I still go to the market to public places like every other person. I am not affected by celebrity status. If you don’t go out how will you meet people? Even when my fans are screaming, ‘Mama Regina! Mama Regina! Mama Regina!’, I will just smile and hail them back and continue what I am doing. I am a politician and I am used to crowd.
But ex-President Goodluck Jonathan allegedly gave a loan to the AGN. What happened to the money?
(Laughs) I did not see one naira oh! I do not know who processed and collected the money. If the money was released, I do not know. If they did not release it, I do not know. The people, who were supposed to give us information, talking about the leadership of AGN, did not tell us anything. Even the first $200 million, nothing was heard of it. What am I looking for is hectares of land for the Film Village and a standard office for the guild so actors and actresses can have a place to share ideas and plan for the future.
What is your view about Nollywood?
Let’s put it this way, using the argument of old and new Nollywood, the side of the fence that I stand on is that for every industry, new players would come and while they would even be considered as new players is because they are bringing value to the new generation. Those that consider themselves as the new Nollywood give them another 20 years and they are going to become the old Nollywood and that’s the cycle of life. The new players must always add value. Nollywood is fast going into extinction and replaced with New Nollywood of unprecedented indecency and abuses.
Are you married or a single mother?
For now, only two of them are in Nollywood. But one is a musician while others are still in school.
How many movies have you done so far?
I have done so many movies I have even lost count. What I do mostly is producing most of the movies my daughter, Regina, acts in.
Did you take a break from the movie industry?
I didn’t take a break from the movie industry. You know what is going on in the industry. They tend to frustrate the older ones and that is why, if you take a look at some of the movies, a lot of people have veered off into a lot of things. I will still be in the movie world till I breathe the last breath.
I am a proud mother of four children and my children are everything to me. I hate to discuss my family in public. Can you ask me another question?

The Lagos state police command have arrested a private security guard employed by the management of the Lagos State Polytechnic (LASPOTECH), Ikorodu, Cletus Wilson, for allegedly murdering his colleague, John Okoro, and attempting to flee with his body parts.
According to reports, Cletus who secures the Computer Engineering Faculty of the polytechnic, had tricked his colleague, John, into the bush within the school premises where he first used a metal object to hit his head.
Confirming that John was unconscious, Cletus slaughtered the deceased and then chopped off his hand. He was about to run with the body part when he was apprehended by his colleagues.
The management of the school immediately alerted the police along Ikorodu-Sagamu road and Cletus was arrested.

Confirming the incident, the divisional police officer in charge of the police station, Adekunle Omisakin, said the suspect will be charged to court immediately after investigations into the matter have been concluded.

Simi has opened up about how she feels concerning the arrest and trial of fellow singer Naira Marley.
Naira Marley was picked up few weeks ago by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, who arraigned him in court on Monday on 11 count charges in relation to internet fraud aka Yahoo Yahoo.
Before his arrest, Naira Marley and Simi had a banter on social media over the legitimacy of Yahoo boys.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has now released an official statement on Naira Marley’s arraignment at a Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos yesterday.
Naira Marley was arraigned in the early hours of May 20 to face 11 charges bordering on fraud against him for alleged credit card fraud.
He was then remanded in EFCC custody till May 30th pending his bail application.

“The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Lagos Zonal office, on May 20, 2019, arraigned a Nigerian artiste, Azeez Adeshina Fashola, also known as Naira Marley, before Justice Nicholas I. Oweibo of the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos on an 11-count charge bordering on cybercrime.
The defendant was arrested on May 10, 2019, following intelligence report received by the Commission about his alleged involvement in internet fraud.
One of the counts reads: “That you, Azeez Adeshina Fashola, aka Naira Marley, and Yad Isril (still at large), on or about the 26th day of November, 2018, within the jurisdiction of this honourable court, conspired amongst yourself to use Access card no : 5264711020433662 issued to persons other than you in a bid to obtain gain and you thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 27(1) (b) of the Cybercrime Prohibition, Prevention etc Act 2015 and punishable under Section 33(2) of the same Act.”
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against him.
In view of his pleas, the prosecution counsel, Rotimi Oyedepo, asked the court for a trial date.
He also prayed for accelerated hearing of the case and urged the court to remand the defendant in prison custody.
Counsel to the defendant, Taiwo Oluwa Ore- Agba, asked the court for a date to hear the bail application on behalf of his client.
Consequently, Justice Oweibo adjourned the case to May 30, 2019, and ordered the defendant to be remanded in prison custody pending the hearing of the bail application”

Rotimi Amaechi, minister of transportation, says the people of south-east not to demand the presidency in 2023.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) got less votes in the region during the 2019 presidential election and the minister described this as voting against the party.
In an interview with The Sun, Amaechi said the Igbo has nothing to bring in negotiating for 2023 presidency. “I don’t know what they will do now for voting against the APC,” he said. “For refusing to support the APC, they cannot come to the table to demand the presidency slot.
“For people like us in the APC, if the Igbo had come and voted Buhari, they would boldly tell Mr President and the National Chairman of the party that presidency should go the Southeast since the South-south; South-west and North-west have produced president. What argument would the Southeast come up with now to convince anybody that they deserve the slot for 2023 president?”

Zainab Aliyu, a Nigerian who was detained in Saudi Arabia for alleged drug trafficking, says she learnt “pure Arabic” and memorised half of the Qur’an during her 124-day stay in prison.

Aliyu was arrested on December 26 after tramadol, a drug prohibited in Saudi Arabia was found in her bag.

The 22-year-old student of the Maitama Sule University, Kano, had travelled to Saudi Arabia for lesser hajj alongside her mother and sister.

She, was, however, arrested by Saudi authorities over allegations that the bag bearing her name tag contained tramadol.

In an interview with Daily Trust, she narrated her experience in detention, how she found it hard to trust people and eventually got close to an Ethiopian lady simply identified as Rehisty.

She explained that she suffered communication gap with Rehisty whom she said understands little English while she (Aliyu), knew just a bit of Arabic.

“I met several people. But I can assure you, it took me some days before I could trust some of the inmates. That’s because after realizing that I was actually framed, I couldn’t bring myself to trust anyone. I did not trust anybody there, even among my roommates. The only person that I can say I trusted, is one Ethiopian lady with whom I was brought in,” Aliyu said.

“Yes, but only the Ethiopian lady I mentioned earlier, called Rehisty. When we were brought there, together, we found it difficult to communicate, because she could only understand a little English, and I understand only a little Arabic. So, it took us some time before we started communicating, in Arabic, which I picked up while in detention.

“I learnt pure Arabic. I also joined Tahfiuz school, and Alhamdulillah, I was able to memorize half of the Holy Qur’an during my stay in the prison. I also learnt how to live with people from different backgrounds.

Narrating her ordeal from when she was picked up in her hotel room till when she was released, Aliyu said it took about a week for her to come to terms that she was in prison.

She, however, said she and the other inmates were well taken care of, adding that she experienced no form of harassment or intimidation.

“I spent almost one week without knowing that I was in a prison, because I did not commit any offence,” she said.

“They treated us like human beings. Nobody humiliated or harassed anyone in there. And I spent 124 days there.”

Aliyu thanked the federal government and everyone who worked towards securing her release.

She cautioned that she is not on social media, raising the alarm that some people have opened social media accounts in her name.

“I thank President Muhammadu Buhari, Madam Abike Dabiri, and the Minister of Justice, Justice Malami, and all others who in one way or the other contributed to my release,” she said.

“I am also calling on some people who have created Instagram and Twitter handles, and even a Facebook account in my name, to please stop, because it is not good to deceive people. Honestly, I am not on social media, so the general public should take note.”

Aliyu was released from prison in April and returned to Nigeria on May 13.

It has been revealed that Sen. Dino Melaye shouted that he would kill himself and put the police in trouble while attempting to escape from police custody.
Insp. Abama Mallum, who happened to witness the scene, on Thursday told an FCT High Court that he overheard Melaye, make the threat while attempting to escape from police custody.
He made the allegation while testifying in the ongoing trial of Melaye, for attempted suicide, attempt to escape from custody and damage to police property, filed against Melaye.
Melaye, who represents Kogi West Senatorial District, is facing trial on six counts of attempted suicide; attempt to escape from custody and damage to police property.
The witness informed the court that while on duty on April 24, 2018, Asp. Amos Boka, told him to convey Melaye and some police officers to Lokoja.
“As we moved around 2 p.m by Area I roundabout, a white Toyota Hilux blocked me, I applied the brakes. The vehicle knocked off my side-mirror.
“I heard the Senator shouting at the officers. I then heard the sound of a glass breaking.
”All of a sudden, I Sen. Melaye jumped out of the vehicle, shouting that he would not go to Lokoja.”
The witness alleged that Melaye had a sharp instrument in his hands and he was shouting: ”I will kill myself and put the police in trouble’’.
“At this point, the police officers pleaded with the defendant to get back in the car but he refused.
“A crowd had also started gathering in Area I. I was ordered to put the car in reverse and go back to the office,” he said.
Mallum alleged that a white van blocked the car he was driving.
Counsel to the defendant, Dr Alex Izinyon, SAN, requested that the court go to the car park where the vehicles tendered as exhibits were kept so that the witness can identify the car.
Justice Silvanus Oriji then adjourned the case to until May 27 for cross-examination.
