The United Nations has announced that henceforth, it will recognize the gay marriages of all its staff members.
Ban Ki-moon, U.N. Secretary, made the announcement on Monday.
Before this new development, the U.N. only used to recognize gay unions from staff members who came from countries where gay marriage is legal, abc News reports.

The new policy means that the gay spouses of the organization’s employees will be entitled to a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage and the opportunity to accompany spouses on home leave.
“Too many of us have suffered under the previous policy. Too many of us have been unable to secure, for example, residency visas and health benefits for our spouses because of a discriminatory policy that would refuse to recognize our legal partners. Let us just enjoy this moment, this huge victory,” said Hyung Hak Nam President of UN-Globe, a group representing LGBT staff members at the U.N.

Some students of Ondo State owned Rufus Giwa Polytechnic in Owo, Ondo state this morning July 7th took over the Owo/Abuja expressway to protest the recent hike in their school fees.

Management of the school recently increased the annual school fees of students of National Diploma in sciences from N21,300 to N58,300 and ND students from N53,800 to 73,000. A levy of N20,000 was also imposed on non-indegenes of the state by school management.

The angry students locked up the offices of the rector, Prof. Igbekele Ajibefun and thereafter took over the express road to drive home their anger. See more photos after the cut...

D’banj helped launch the Do Agric Petition In January 2014 during the African Union Summit in Addis Ababa, A petition that calls on leaders for more and better investment in Agriculture. D’banj was the first to publicly sign the petition.

In April, he led 19 of Africa’s top artists to record the hit song and video “Cocoa Na Chocolate” to promote the petition and help rebrand Agriculture among Africa’s youth.

The campaign has been a great success as over 2 million Africans from every African country has signed the petition.
D’banj recently met with ONE co-founder Bono and presented him the petition in recognition of the way he has inspired Africans themselves to lead the fight for change in Africa.

Eyewitnesses say teargas was unleashed on calm bystanders without warning..

There’s an ongoing rampage at Awoyaya area of Lekki expressway in Lagos.

And according to eyewitnesses, it all started after an okada rider and his passengers, 2 in number, lost their lives while being chased by the police. They were trying to evade the police who were chasing them to
seize their bike, unfortunately, they ran into a BRT bus and were crushed to death. On seeing the accident, angry area boys reportedly attacked the police, chased them away and burnt their vehicle.

Thankfully, the army arrived on time to calm the situation.

The body of Habib Olatunde (pictured above), a bank manager of an undisclosed Nigerian bank, has been found two weeks and six days after he was declared missing by the police.

Late Mr Olatunde's body was found hanging in an uncompleted building at Arepo in Ogun state on Saturday July 5th around 5pm. Abayomi Shogunle, the Deputy Force PRO, Nigeria Police Force, revealed this.
