President Goodluck Jonathan has assured Nigerians that the forthcoming polls re-scheduled to hold on March 28 and April 11, 2015, will not be shifted again. The president gave the assurance in Abuja during the presidential debate organised by the Nigerian Elections Debate Group. He said this in his closing remarks during the debate in which 11 other presidential candidates participated. The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Candidate, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari(retd.), was absent at the debate. It is less than one week to the elections but speculation that the polls could be shifted again is still rife in the country. When INEC was made to shift the election from February 14 and 28, 2015 to the new dates, many believed that it was orchestrated by the Presidency to afford it more time to prepare better for the elections. But the President had earlier denied that he had a hand in the postponement. He said during his last presidential media chat that the INEC chairman, Prof. Attahiru Jega, never informed him of his decision to postpone the polls after he (Jega) received a letter from the National Security Adviser, calling for six weeks postponement of the elections. In his closing remark during the debate on Sunday, the President thanked Nigerians for showing interest in the electoral process and assured them that there would be no further cause to postpone the elections. The president said, “Let me us this unique opportunity to thank Nigerians today for showing much interest in the electoral process and to re-assure Nigerians that elections will hold as scheduled by INEC (Independent National Electoral Commission) – the presidential election and the National Assembly election on the 28th of this month (Marchh and the governorship and the state assembly election on 11th of next month (April).” The debate, which held in two batches, saw other presidential candidates promising alternative approaches to tackling corruption, economy as well the problems in the oil, power, security and education sectors. The four other candidates, who debated with Jonathan in the second batch, were those of the United Peoples Party, Chief Chekwas Okorie; United Democratic Party, Godson Okoye; Kowa Party, Prof. Oluremi Sonaiya, and the National Conscience Party, Martin Onovo. Others, who earlier participated in the first batch, included, Tunde Anifowose-Kelani of the Action Alliance; Ganiyu Galadima of Allied Congress Party of Nigeria; Rafiu Salau of the Alliance for Democracy; Mani Ahmad of African Democratic Congress and Ayeni Adebayo of African Peoples Alliance. Others are Sam Eke of Citizens Popular Party and Ambrose Owuru of Hope Democratic Party. http://www.punchng.com/news/polls-wont-be-shifted-again-jonathan/ http://naijaroof.com/2015/03/22/polls-wont-be-…again-jonathan/

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has revealed how President Goodluck Jonathan repeatedly appealed to him to dump the All Progressives Congress, APC, and return to the ruling Peoples Democratic Party. Atiku said the president pleaded with him three times, once during a surprise midnight visit to his house. The former VP made the revelation in an interview with the Hausa service of the BBC, during which he also explained why he has not been very visible in the campaign rallies of his party’s presidential candidate, Muhammadu Buhari. Mr. Abubakar said he turned down the personal request of President Jonathan to return to the PDP on three separate occasions. He said the last was in Abuja last Friday when the President paid him a surprise midnight visit. He said on that day, he received speaker Aminu Tambuwal and ex-military leader, Ibrahim Babangida, and they held fruitful discussions. “In the evening I went to bed early, but at around 12 am, I was told the president was in my sitting room, so I came down and after exchanging pleasantries, I asked him to what I deserved such a visit and he said he just came back to still plead with me for support,” Atiku said. “He said I need to go back to the PDP because we built the party and we are its founding fathers, and that we needed to go back and rebuild it. “I told him this is the third time you are asking me to return to the PDP and my answer has always been the same; I am not going back,” Atiku said. On speculations that the President also suggested an interim government to the former Vice President, Mr. Abubakar said the matter never came up. “He did not bring it up, and I also did not,” he said. “We just spoke about politics and the security situation in the country.” http://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/top-news/178863-president-jonathan-begged-me-thrice-to-dump-apc-atiku.html http://naijaroof.com/2015/03/21/president-jona…dump-apc-atiku/

AHEAD of the Presidential and general elections slated for March 28 and April 11 respectively, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP Presidential Campaign Organisation, PDPPCO yesterday reiterated the call for the arrest of the Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, General Muhammadu Buhari, retd and the National leader of the opposition party, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu over the existence of what he described as an illegal radio station called “APC Radio or ” Radio Chanji”. Fani- Kayode who also called on the Security agencies to go after Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State; former governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi and former Nigeria Ambassador to Spain, Ambassador Yusuf Mamman, said it became imperative for him to renew the call for their arrest because the National Broadcasting Commission, NBC has confirmed the existence of the radio station. The spokesperson of PDPPCO yesterday gave Buhari an ultimatum of three days to answer thirty- five questions and failure to answer them within the stipluated days given to him, the PDP would then conclude that he was quilty of all issues raised that were presented in form of questions. Fani- Kayode who asked Buhari to explain the level of funding from Hamas, ISIS, ISIL, Al Qaeda and various shady Middle East, just as Buhari was asked to come out and tell Nigerians if he had not received money from these bodies, just as the PDP asked him if he was not a revengeful mission to destroy General Ibrahim Babangida, General Abdulsalami Abubakar and other former military Heads of State and junior army officers who opposed his rule and toppled his government in the 1985 military coup. Fani- Kayode said, “We have invited you here today to let you know that we believe that we have been vindicated on the report we gave to you just two days ago about the existence of Radio Chanji. This is despite the denials and the lies by the All Progressives Congress (APC) about the true situation of things and about their dastardly intentions and sinister plots to use the station for nefarious purposes. “The fact that the Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation (NBC), only yesterday, confirmed that this radio station exists, that it is possible that its operations are being conducted from outside the country and that the operations have been on-going for a while, albeit in a very low key manner, gives us even more cause for concern than we had before. “Once again, we wish to point out the dangers of this radio station and the evil intention of the people behind it. Apart from anything else, they wish to use the station to announce false results after the up-coming elections are conducted. That is the primary and more obvious intention and motive. There is, however, a less obvious motive and intention and it is as follows. “We believe that it is only after the APC has been defeated in the Presidential elections that the secondary purpose of this station will manifest. The truth is that they intend to use it to create division, chaos and strife in Nigeria by propagating the most irresponsible form of mendacious and inciting falsehood and provocative propaganda. “They also intend to use it to incite their supporters to kill. Once again we call on the authorities to investigate, question and arrest the people behind it before it is too late and before all hell breaks loose. Apart from this, we would like to take this opportunity to put a number of questions that millions of Nigerians have been asking the Presidential candidate of the APC, General Muhammadu Buhari, over the last few weeks. Part of the 35 questions asked Buhari by Fani- Kayode were “Does he still believe that an attack on Boko Haram is an attack on the north? Does he have a secret soft spot and closet affinity for Boko Haram? What are his views about the terrorist organisations known as Al Shabab, Al Qaeda, ISIS and ISIL, all of whom are allies of Boko Haram? Does he believe that they have a point and does he approve of their violent methods? Can he guarantee that not one dollar of Al Qaeda, ISIS or ISIL money has been used to support his presidential campaign? Does he believe in a secular state? ” Is it true that Buhari gets massive covert funding from Hamas, ISIS, ISIL, Al Qaeda and various shady Middle Eastern interests? Is it true that he was once nominated by Boko Haram to be their spokesman in proposed talks with the Federal Government? “What is the true health status of General Buhari? What is the situation concerning his certificate? Does he have it or does he not have it? ” Did he perjure himself and lie under oath when he swore to an affidavit that his certificate was with the military? “What was his role in the killings on the night of July 29, 1966 when 300 Igbo officers, one yoruba officer and the former Head of State, General Aguiyi-Ironsi were killed in a military coup? Was he one of those who killed one or any of those people on that night and was he involved in the butchering of the primarily Igbo army officers? “What was his role in the terrible and tragic events that took place in parts of northern Nigeria in 1966 when over 100,000 innocent Igbo civilians were slaughtered including women and children? Is it true that he was among those who supplied arms to those who slaughtered these Igbo civilians? “What was his role in the massacre and genocide that took place in Asaba in 1969 after the Federal forces re-captured the town of Asaba from the Biafran forces and liberated it? This terrible incident occurred when every single young Igbo boy and elderly man that were left in the town were summoned for a role call at the town centre, were lined up in rows like lambs to the slaughter and were shot dead in cold blood. This was despite the fact that they were nothing but defenceless and innocent civilians and non-combatants. The question is this: what was Buhari’s role, if any, in that incident? “Is it true that General Buhari personally ordered the retroactive application of military decrees which led to the death of many simply because he wanted to teach certain people from a certain part of the country a lesson during his reign as Military Head of State? “Is it true that General Buhari applied a very selective form of administration of justice which sought to punish southerners more than anybody else when he was military Head of State? “What was his role in the humiliation and denigration of Chief Obafemi Awolowo, the late and highly respected Leader of the Yoruba? Is it true that he personally ordered that the home of Chief Awolowo should be raided and ransacked and that the highly revered elder statesman be humiliated for no just cause? If this was the case does he not believe that he owes the Yoruba people an apology for that? Should he not be begging the Yoruba for forgiveness after traumatising their revered leader rather than asking them for their votes? ” What was General Buhari’s role in the Petroleum Trust Fund (PTF) scandal and is it true that he misappropriated the sum of N25 billion as the Haroun Adamu report, which was submitted in 2002, suggests? Is it true that 2.8 billion naira went missing under his watch when he was Minister of Petroleum in 1977? “What was his role in the agitation for political Sharia in 2000 in northern Nigeria and does he still believe that Sharia law should be spread throughout the country, including the south? Does he still believe that Muslims should only vote for Muslims and that they should only vote for those who will protect their interest? Does he still believe that it is not the business of any Christian when Muslims cut off their limbs for crimes that violate Sharia law? “Does he still believe that an attack on Boko Haram is an attack on the north? Does he have a secret soft spot and closet affinity for Boko Haram? What are his views about the terrorist organisations known as Al Shabab, Al Qaeda, ISIS and ISIL, all of whom are allies of Boko Haram? Does he believe that they have a point and does he approve of their violent methods? Can he guarantee that not one dollar of Al Qaeda, ISIS or ISIL money has been used to support his presidential campaign? Does he believe in a secular state? “Does he still believe that those who oppose his candidacy should be killed as he said just before the presidential elections in 2011? “Does he have any apology to offer or remorse to express for the slaughter of hundreds of people, including some innocent youth corpers, by his supporters in the north after the 2011 elections? “What are General Buhari’s views about same sex marriage and homosexuality? Is it true that, if he is elected President, he is considering scuttling the anti-gay laws in our country and is he really committed to pushing through legislation that would allow same sex marriage as some form of compromise to the Western powers in return for their endorsement and support? “Is it true that he supported the late General Abacha to such a point that he actually suggested to Abacha that Ken Saro-Wiwa, the famous poet and Niger Delta activist, should be executed in order for his south-south supporters to be taught a bitter lesson? “Is it true that he has resolved to teach the de-facto leader of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the lesson of his life by prosecuting him and sending him to jail if he is elected as President or, in lieu of this, compelling him to return 50 percent of the money and properties that he has managed to acquire from Lagos state over the last 16 years? “Is it true that he has a secret pathological hatred for those who do not share his faith or those who come from the southern part of Nigeria? “Is it true that General Buhari is a hegemonist and a man who is totally remorseless? “Is it true that he defied his Commander in Chief, former President Shehu Shagari and tried to start a war with Chad simply because he has a blood lust and an insatiable thirst for violence and war? “Is it true that his cruel and merciless policies and actions, whilst he was Head of State, led to the premature deaths of Governors Ambrose Ali of the old Bendel state, Bisi Onabanjo of Ogun state and so many of our other past leaders? “Is it true that he had a personal hatred for Alhaji Umaru Dikko, the late former Minister of Transport, to the point that he personally ordered his drugging, kidnapping and crating from the streets of London? “Is it true that he has disdain for women and that he believes that women have no place in public office or at the forefront of current affairs? Is it true that he wants to scrap the office of the First Lady? Is it true that whilst he was military Head of State he jailed and tortured journalists simply for writing the truth? “Is it true that he has no idea about how to run a 21st century country and that he has no understanding about the administration of justice and the application of the rule of law in a modern state? Is it true that he derives pleasure in just locking up and jailing people? “Is it true that he has the intention of destroying General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, General Abdulsalami Abubakar and all the other former Military Heads of State and junior army officers who opposed his rule and toppled his government in a 1985 military coup? Is it true that he is vengeful and unkind? “Is it true that he has ordered his supporters that under no circumstance should President Jonathan be allowed any peace if he wins the presidential election? Is it true that that he will make the country ungovernable if Jonathan wins and that he will make sure that the baboon and the dog are both soaked in blood? “Is it true that General Buhari has no intention whatsoever to accept the election results if he loses and that he is poised to unleash violence throughout the country in the event of his losing? Is it true that Radio Chanji has been established with his blessing and support and for the sole purpose of inciting people to violence and causing mayhem after he loses? ” Is it true that he is terminally ill and that indeed his health status is the kind that will give Nigerians cause for alarm if it were made public? Is it true that he has refused to release a report that was put together by his foreign doctors about the true state of his health to the Nigerian Public because they would be very alarmed? “Is it true that he is incapable of running the affairs of this country and, in the event of his winning the election, that he intends to concede the administration of the country to others? “Is it true that he is a closet Islamic fundamentalist? Is it true that he is a secret collaborator and supporter of Boko Haram? Is it true that Boko Haram is the armed wing of his party the APC and that the APC is the political wing of Boko Haram? “Does his party the APC still believe that Boko Harm should not have been proscribed as stated by their spokesman, Lai Mohammed sometime last year? “Is it true that his party is Nigeria’s equivalent of the Egyptian Moslem Brotherhood or the Sudanese supporter of APC? “Is it true that General Buhari has disdain for Christians and that his secret desire is to bury the Church? “These are the questions that we would like General Buhari to answer over the next few days before the presidential elections so that the Nigerian people will have a clearer picture of who and what he really is. “If he cannot answer every single one of these questions and tell us the truth then we reserve the right to assume that the answer to every single one of them is in the affirmative and that these assertions are true. That being the case, we will be compelled to come to the conclusion that General Buhari is not just a menace to the Nigerian people and an enemy of the Nigerian state but also that he is somebody who is unfit to rule this great country and that does not deserve to be voted for.” http://naijaroof.com/2015/03/21/ffk-asks-buhar…-isis-al-qaeda/ http://abusidiqu.com/fani-kayode-asks-buhari-to-answer-thirty-five-questions-accuses-him-of-receiving-funds-from-hamas-isis-al-qaeda/

A former Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, has said the reported silent moves by President Goodluck Jonathan to woo former Vice President Atiku Abubakar back to the Peoples Democratic Party won’t work. According to him, the ploy is to cause division in the opposition All Progressives Congress and dim the chances of its presidential candidate, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) in the March 28 election. ADVERTISEMENT The ex-governor also said the removal of the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof. Attahiru Jega, could only be done in accordance with the 1999 Constitution. Fayemi spoke on Thursday as a guest on Sunrise Daily, a political programme on Channels Television, monitored in Ado Ekiti by our correspondent. He was reacting to the declaration of supports by some groups under the Turaki Vanguard for the presidential candidature of President Jonathan. Fayemi, who is the Director of Policy, Research and Documentation of the APC Presidential Campaign Organisation, said Atiku remained a committed leader of the party and would work for the victory of Buhari. He said, “Anybody can just pick some people on the street and call them members of Turaki Group. Though, I am aware of the surreptitious plans to divide us, but wooing Atiku back to the PDP will not certainly work because he is committed to this project. “So, Atiku is still in the APC and he has come out boldly to denounce this group. It was a fact that he offered himself to be President but the delegate acted otherwise by voting for Maj. Gen Buhari. “I don’t foresee that he will walk away from the APC on the basis of this because there is nothing on ground to make him do that. He has remained consistent for Buhari and he is committed to the APC.” Fayemi said the entire Nigerian populace would query Jonathan if he sacked Jega at this critical time, adding that such an attempt could bring suspicion that would do the country no good. On the mock accreditation conducted by INEC in 12 states to test-run the workability of the card readers, Fayemi advised the commission to block all loopholes based on the reservations expressed by some critical stakeholders for the outcome of the elections to be acceptable. He however expressed optimism that the card reader would turn out to be a blessing in view of the success recorded in Lagos, which he said was known to be densely populated. Fayemi added, “Our party is not that worried about this card reader thing, but we are only concerned about the non-delivery of Permanent Voter Cards to some region. “Like in Ogun State, I heard Governor Ibikunle Amosun complaining that about 250,000 PVCs are yet to be delivered. This is a peculiar case. “But it was available in some areas like Ekiti, but people decided not to collect. Though that had been taken to be cases of multiple registrations. “So, in the area of collection, INEC cannot be blamed because people may decide not to vote,” Fayemi stated. http://www.punchng.com/news/jonathans-ploy-to-divide-apc-wont-work-fayemi-2/ http://naijaroof.com/2015/03/19/jonathans-ploy…nt-work-fayemi/

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation has condemned the latest claims of the former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria and the current Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, that the issues surrounding the missing $20bn oil money have not been adequately addressed by the Federal Government. Sanusi had told CNN’s Christine Amapour, during an interview on Wednesday that the level of corruption in Nigeria’s oil sector was still high. Reacting to the claim, in a statement issued on Thursday by the Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs Division of the NNPC, Mr. Ohi Alegbe, the oil firm stated that the respected traditional ruler had got it wrong again. It said one of the issues raised by Sanusi was the billions of dollars being paid in kerosene subsidies, stressing that after exhaustive deliberations and investigations, the Senate Committee on Finance in a report recommended that the Executive should prepare and present to the National Assembly a supplementary budget. The budget, according to the corporation was “to cover the expenditure in the sum of N90.6bn for premium motor spirit subsidy in 2012 and N685.9bn for kerosene subsidy expended without appropriation by the National Assembly” It said PricewaterhouseCoopers also observed in its recent forensic audit report that “regarding the issue of subsidy on kerosene, the Presidential Directive of 19 October, 2009, was not gazetted and there is no other legal instrument cancelling the subsidy on DPK. The Senate Committee had also concluded that all that was now required was for the FGN to propose appropriation for the unappropriated subsidy for the period in a supplemental budget.” The statement further noted that the corporation was “therefore at a loss as to what Sanusi II meant by his statement that issues surrounding his allegation of unremitted $20bn, especially regarding kerosene subsidy, have not been adequately addressed.” http://www.punchng.com/news/missing-20bn-nnpc-faults-sanusis-latest-claims/ http://naijaroof.com/2015/03/19/missing-20bn-n…-latest-claims/ |

Wife of President Goodluck Jonathan, Patience, on Tuesday in Ilorin, Kwara State, said her husband was the messiah hence she told Nigerian women not to vote for Maj.Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress. “Nigerian women, if they (APC) come, tell them that your mother said you should not listen to them. They have nothing to offer. They have nothing to give you, Nigerian women; because the battle has already been conquered, God has opened the way for us. God has brought down the messiah for us. And PDP is the messiah. Goodluck is the messiah,” the President’s wife said at the Peoples Democratic Party’s women presidential rally in Ilorin. She asked Buhari to leave politics and governance to younger people. “I am a person that will tell the truth. I will not abuse people, but if you are old you are old, so leave it to younger people,” she said in a veiled reference to her husband’s main challenger, whom the PDP had said was too old to occupy the President’s office. Buhari was born December 17, 1942. The President’s wife likened the opposition APC to an “expired and adulterated drug” and urged the Nigerian electorate not to vote for the party, saying it could lead to their death. She said God had told her that the APC would lose the general elections rescheduled for March 28 and April 11 general elections. Mrs. Jonathan said, “What are we going to take expired drug to do? Have you seen anywhere where APC cured any person? If you vote and drink it and die, it is not my business. Do not go near APC. It is an expired drug and an adulterated drug.” She said the Jonathan-led Federal Government had positively transformed the country through provision of massive infrastructure as well as good and functional health care and good educational system. She also promised that the PDP would reclaim governance of Kwara State, saying the state was stolen from the PDP. “They stole our mandate. This is opposition state. All these provisions of the Federal Government, they are claiming that they are the ones providing them, meanwhile they are embezzling the money. “Anyone that comes, they eat it up. This time, PDP says no to them.” Patience also cautioned APC leaders against making its campaign to clash with that of the PDP. She accused the APC of deliberately planning the political events of Aishat Buhari, the wife of the APC presidential candidate, to coincide with her own rally in order to create an atmosphere for violence between the two camps. She said, “PDP is not shaken; as far as we are there, there is no need for trouble. You know that Mama Peace, your mother, is peace-loving, so the children must also be peace-loving. Women are peace makers and no woman that makes trouble is worth to be called a woman. “Before I went to Edo State, the APC was there, all to make trouble. I have always been telling them that they like to make trouble. I wanted to go to Edo, they were there. Why? To make trouble. I wanted to come to Kwara, they were there. Why? To make trouble. As I was coming today at the airport, they were also coming so that there would be trouble but I told my security people that I am a mother of peace, so let them go in peace. We, wives of political leaders should not make trouble, so even if they come to you to make trouble, don’t fall for their tricks.” Mrs. Buhari’s convoy was attacked by suspected thugs in Ilorin on Monday. Patience added, “Kwara is PDP. They only stole the mandate because the Government House they are occupying today is in the name of PDP. We shall take it over. Everyday they change from one name to another and very soon they will change to Ebola and then death will come. My God that I serve has told me that they will fail. So don’t be deceived, don’t listen to their lies. “There is office for wife of President but they were saying there is none. But soon they brought one ‘Hajia’ as wife of the President and she is now saying, ‘don’t worry, my husband made a mistake, we shall make provisions as necessary.’ Don’t believe what they are saying, hold to what you have because it is better than what you are yet to see.” http://naijaroof.com/2015/03/17/patience-jonat…is-the-messiah/ |
he National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Mr Lai Mohammed has sounded a warning to the PDP not to attempt to assasinate Gen Buhari or one of its Chieftains, Chief Bola Tinubu as it had allegedly done in the past. Lai Mohammed, who made the allegation in an interview with Punch yesterday, said any attempt on their lives would lead to consequences that will be very dear for this country. "I have never seen a government so terrified of elections as this present administration. And I have never seen a candidate so terrified of the opposition as Jonathan. Even as recent as last week, (Ekiti State Governor Ayodele) Fayose was asking for the withdrawal of Buhari from the Presidential election; and it is just bizarre -but that coming from Fayose, one should not be surprising. Coming to issue of security, they have made an attempt on his (Buhari) life once before; it can be done again. But, let us warn them that any attempt on the life of Buhari or Bola Tinubu will lead to a consequence that will be very dear for this country. They should not even contemplate it.”he said In the interview, the APC chairman said the allegation leveled against President Jonathan's administration by Former President OLusegun Obasanjo in December 2013 that they were training sniper men to assassinate opposition politicians was true "It is true. They were trained in Belarus. They are security agents drawn from the NIA, the DSS, the Police, the Air Force and the Navy. They were trained on how to take out targets without any trace or without being discovered and they will leave the scene quietly.”he said In a swift reaction, the Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Mr Abdullahi Jalo dismissed Mr Lai Mohammed's allegations, calling on him to provide evidence to prove that the PDP had intentions of assassinating Gen Buhari "The PDP is committed to the election peace pact signed in Abuja. We will abide by it. It is a covenant we are determined to keep. Having said that, the burden of proof concerning Lai’s allegation rests on him and the party. In the usual manner of whipping up sentiments to deceive Nigerians, they have come up with this propaganda. Let him and his party provide photo, video, audio or meeting place where a plot to assassinate their presidential candidate was hatched. Nigerians have become wiser today. They cannot be swayed by the APC propaganda machine,” he said http://naijaroof.com/2015/03/16/apc-warns-pdp-…to-kill-buhari/ http://lindaikeji..com/2015/03/apc-warns-pdp-dont-attempt-to-kill.html

Some men with over 500 Permanent Voter Cards were apprehended by the residents of Orita Sekoni, Ogbomoso, Oyo State on Saturday. The men were, however, saved from being lynched by an angry mob which surrounded them after getting a whiff of the information by men of the Nigerian Police. An eyewitness said the men were apprehended by the residents at Orita-Sekoni area of the town. He said the men would have died but for the arrival of a patrol van of the men of Oyo State Police Command, who shot into the air to disperse the mob. The eyewitness said the men were caught in a Honda Accord car with Oyo State number plate AR 892 LUY after a tip-off. He said, “Some people noticed that those in the car were in the possession of huge amount of PVCs and alerted some of the boys in the area. They were stopped and after a search, the cards were discovered.” He added that other things noticed in the car indicated that they were working for one of the governorship candidates from Ibadan, although he refused to say which party he is representing. When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Adekunle Ajisebutu, told our correspondent that the command was yet to receive signal from Ogbomoso on the crime but he reiterated that the command would not tolerate any act capable of disturbing the peaceful conduct of the coming elections in the state. He said, “We are yet to get such report. The state Commissioner of Police has said many times in his short stay here that he will not tolerate such act. The police is here to maintain law and order and that is what the command will do if anyone is caught in an attempt to disrupt peace in this state or tries to do anything that will discredit the coming poll.” http://naijaroof.com/2015/03/14/police-arrest-…00-pvcs-in-oyo/ |

here have been mixed reactions surrounding Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola‘s controversial statements about the Lekki robbery on Thursday that left four people dead. You will recall that Fashola stated that the incident occurred because of President Goodluck Jonathan‘s visit to Lagos because according to him, all security vehicles and personnel were deployed to protect the president. The president’s spokesman, Reuben Abati, has condemned Fashola’s statement: “We consider the statement attributed to Governor Fashola as grossly and utterly irresponsible. We expect that a man of his status, who is the Governor of a state, should speak more responsibly. It doesn’t make any sense whatsoever that the entire police formation in a state would be deployed to protect the president of Nigeria. The visit of the President or any part of the country does not necessitate the depletion of the police force active in that particular state or its environment. The President has a defined team that protects him anywhere he goes. President Jonathan does not need the entire Police force to protect him in a state where he is loved by the people and where, as we have seen, he enjoys overwhelming support to the lead up of the 2015 presidential election,” he said. http://naijaroof.com/2015/03/14/reuben-abati-d…-irresponsible/

A pro-Peoples Democratic Party group, the Goodluck Lagos Grassroots Project, has warned the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, against plunging Nigeria into violence after his defeat in the March 28 election. GLGP asked Buhari and the APC chieftains to conduct their activities peacefully, if truly they are democrats. The GLGP Chairman, Alhaji Mufutau Babalola, who spoke with our correspondent in Lagos during the week, asked the APC presidential candidate not to use the postponement of the general elections from February 14 and February 28 to March 28 and April 11 as an opportunity to plan any violence against the country after the APC candidate would have been announced loser of the next presidential election. He reiterated President Goodluck Jonathan’s claim that no political party was strong enough to defeat the ruling PDP. Babalola said, “The Independent National Electoral Commission postponed the general elections in the interest of everyone. So, it will be sad if any party, particularly the APC uses the opportunity created by the postponement to plot any sinister agenda against the collective interest of the country. “We will continue to tell the APC and its supporters that Nigeria does not belong to them alone. They need to approach the general elections with decorum and accept the outcome in the spirit of sportsmanship, instead of warming up to plunge Nigeria into an orgy of violence after the poll. “Nigerians have yet to forget that the Buhari’s utterance sparked off the violence that trailed the 2011 general elections in which many families lost their loved ones and valuable property. So, we will not stop asking them to put the interest of the country first before theirs.” Babalola, however, asked the APC and its presidential candidate to join Jonathan’s administration in completely tackling the terrorist activities rocking the country, instead of engaging in criticism that would not benefit anyone. He said, “All Nigerians are affected by the terrorist activities in one way or the other. That is why it is necessary for all lovers of peace, irrespective of their political affiliations, to see the end to the Boko Haram insurgency as a collective responsibility.” But the APC spokesperson in the South-East, Mr. Osita Okechukwu, asked PDP and its supporters to stop bothering Nigerians with frivolities. He said they should bury their heads in shame for failure to assuage Nigerians’ plight, instead of dissipating their energy unnecessarily. The APC spokesperson said the pro-PDP group decided to provoke Buhari after their plan to stop the use of card reader in the conduct of the next general elections had failed. He said, “The PDP case is like a medical school where there is no room for repeat after failure. It is certain that they have failed and that majority of Nigerians are eager to vote them out. “So, they should leave Buhari alone because he did not contribute to Jonathan’s failure to fix Nigeria’s infrastructural challenges. “The naira has crashed and the poverty level has risen. So, did Buhari contribute to the falling of the naira? Did Buhari contribute to Jonathan’s failure to diversify Nigeria’s economy?” http://naijaroof.com/2015/03/13/glgpto-buhari-…-into-violence/ |
Benue State Governor, Gabriel Suswam, on Friday regretted that he had already buried too many commissioners and prayed God not to allow him face such temptation again. The governor stated this at Tse-Chia in Buruku, Buruku Local Government Area of the state when the state Commissioner for Rural Development and Cooperative, Mr. Aondowase Chia, who died last week, was buried Chia had on Thursday last week slumped and later died at the Benue State University Teaching Hospital, Makurdi, while the governor was on a trip abroad. Suswam said, “I’ve buried too many commissioners; I am very uncomfortable and I completely align myself with what His Royal Majesty earlier said that we must all go back to God.” He lamented that people were busy hiring political thugs to foment trouble during the general elections rather than soberly reflect on the essence of human life. “Most people believe that they will hire political thugs to kill; unfortunately, they forget the fact that life is full of emptiness. God alone determines the destiny of every man,” he noted. Suswam believed his party, the Peoples Democratic Party, remained the most peaceful party, adding that people should not look at election as a do-or-die affairs see his photo here... http://naijaroof.com/2015/03/13/ive-buried-man…sioners-suswam/ |

Statement from Kayode Ogundamisi - Diaspora for Buhari - Osinbanjo Today Ayo Fayose took his madness a bit further by using his mother as an example of why Nigerians should not vote for an elderly person as candidate. Fayose's claim that his mother wears pampers is a new low just to make a political point. In 1983 Chief Obafemi Awolowo contested for Presidency at age 74 and Nnamdi Azikwe at age 79 Can bigot Ayo Fayose tell us if they both wore dipers? Fayose's fear of Buhari is more to do with Fayose facing justice for corruption than Buhari's age http://naijaroof.com/2015/03/10/70yrs-old-mum-…overnors-forum/

Press statement from the APC The All Progressives Congress (APC) has debunked the myth being peddled by the PDP that Gen. Buhari will spend only one term in office if elected President, saying it is the creation of the PDP which is seeking to play a section of the country against another. "The APC will not abridge the right of Gen. Muhammadu Buhari to spend the constitutionally-guaranteed two terms as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria if elected in the March 28th poll,'' the party said in a statement issued in Lagos on Tuesday by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed. ''No conditionality whatsoever was attached to Gen. Buhari's candidacy. He won the party primaries fair and square in a globally-acclaimed transparent manner, and he was neither a compromise nor a consensus candidate, hence there is no need for him to make a deal with anyone. ''We are therefore telling Nigerians to disregard the tales by the moonlight which some PDP elements are yarning, in their desperation to muddle the waters ahead of the forthcoming elections and create disaffection between a section of the country and another,'' it said. APC said it had ignored the myth all long because it was being peddled by fringe elements in the PDP, but decided to put the record straight once and for all after those who were thought to be saner elements in the ruling party started parroting the same incredulous lies. ''This myth that Buhari will spend one term, after which power will return to the South-west, is along the same line as the outlandish claim that our Vice Presidential Candidate, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, has sworn to an oath to resign in favour of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu once elected. ''The question to ask is: When will the PDP stop this campaign of calumny and character assassination against our candidates and leaders? When will they stop this one-day, one-lie nonsense? ''The truth is that Gen. Buhari's candidacy has brought out the worst in the PDP leadership and supporters, including Mr. President and his wife. Unfortunately for them, the more they campaign against our candidate, the more popular he becomes. Perhaps the PDP would have stood a better chance of winning the forthcoming polls if its State Governors, in particular, have devoted as much time and energy to running their states as they have devoted to maligning Gen. Buhari,'' the party said. Alhaji Lai Mohammed National Publicity Secretary http://naijaroof.com/2015/03/10/apc-debunks-my…sident-elected/

The All Progressives Congress in Ekiti State has said Governor Ayodele Fayose’s alleged blackmail of its candidate, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) cannot stop him from winning the presidential election. : http://naijaroof.com/2015/02/28/fayoses-blackm…top-buhari-apc/ It said the governor’s criticism of Buhari, was driven by self-preservation over the governor’s past misdeeds and not in the national interest. According to the party, the governor is fighting the battle of his life that runs contrary to the general mood of the nation. It advised him to concentrate his energy on how to ensure victory for PDP’s candidate, President Goodluck Jonathan, instead of lecturing APC on why it should not field General Buhari as its candidate for the March 28 presidential election. A statement by the state APC Publicity Secretary, Taiwo Olatubosun, said Nigerians had made up their minds to have Buhari as their President, adding that, “No amount of blackmail and rhetoric fuelled by selfishness will change the course of change sweeping across the country.” Reminding Fayose that APC was not the same thing as PDP, Olatubosun said, “PDP has an agenda to kill all institutions of government as it is currently doing and make corruption a creed. Never in the history of this country have we recorded cases of frauds and scandals as we have today in Nigeria. These are the legacies that PDP can flaunt. Unfortunately, Fayose is equating PDP with Nigeria. “Fayose has turned APC to a PDP affair. He said former President Olusegun Obasanjo imposed a sick man, the late Umaru Yar’Adua, on PDP in 2007 and President Yar’Adua died after two years in office. The question is; is Buhari in PDP and is he now being imposed by Obasanjo again? How does Buhari’s old age threaten PDP’s bid to rule for 60 years? “Again, Fayose said he had a vision that Buhari will never be president. If he is sure of his vision, why is he breathless about Buhari’s candidacy?” Olatubosun noted that the governor was being hypocritical in his criticism of Buhari and the allegations he was raising over his health status, saying that his actions pointed to the fact that Buhari was the favoured candidate among a vast majority of Nigerians. : http://naijaroof.com/2015/02/28/fayoses-blackm…top-buhari-apc/ READ MORE @ naijaroof.com : http://naijaroof.com/2015/02/28/fayoses-blackm…top-buhari-apc/

At a press briefing in Abuja today, the spokesperson of the PDP Presidential campaign organization PDPPCO, Femi Fani-Kayode alleged that a Chieftain of the APC, Bola Tinubu has compelled the Vice Presidential candidate of the APC, Prof Osinbajo to swear to an oath that he would resign as Vice President six months after inauguration (if their party wins) so that he can scheme his way into power if Gen Buhari dies in office. What he said below... SEE MORE @ naijaroof.com http://naijaroof.com/2015/02/27/osinbajo-plann…mi-fani-kayode/ “The PDPPCO wishes to use this forum to expose the ungodly plan by Tinubu to seize the presidency of Nigeria by subterfuge. The real reason Tinubu nominated Osinbajo has been made known to us and we hereby offer a public service to the Nigerian people by drawing national attention to it. Tinubu wanted to be running mate to Buhari in spite of the nationwide resentment for Muslim-Muslim ticket that he and Buhari planned to foist on their party men and women. But when he and Buhari could not push through the agenda within the APC, he (Tinubu), after being given the opportunity to nominate a vice presidential candidate, he decided to prop up his stooge in the person of Prof Osinbajo. Tinubu, according to our information, has compelled Osinbajo to swear to an oath that after six months in office, he would resign as the vice president, in the unlikely event that their party wins. Credible pieces of information at our disposal indicate that Tinubu has perfected plans to come to power through the back door. The ultimate objective of this plot is to ensure that Tinubu becomes president. The script is simple: given the questionable health of Buhari, Tinubu, who is desperate to be president for his own selfish reasons, will simply bid his time in the evil expectation that Buhari will not be able to go the whole hog.” Fani Kayode said SEE MORE @naijaroof.com http://naijaroof.com/2015/02/27/osinbajo-plann…mi-fani-kayode/

The Independent National Electoral Commission has yet to decide whether the forthcoming general elections will hold in the North-East communities recently liberated by the military from the Boko Haram sect. Investigations by our correspondents on Thursday revealed that the decision on the elections would be guided by advice from security agencies. The military has recaptured many towns in Borno State, which were previously seized by the insurgents. A member of the House of Representatives, Mr. Mohammed Mugono (APC, Borno State), had at the House plenary on Tuesday, said almost all local governments in the state taken over by the sect had been recaptured by the military. The recaptured towns are Mallam Fatori, Gamboru-Ngala, Monguno, Dikwa, Baga and Marte. When the towns were taken over by the insurgents, residents fled to other towns in and outside the state and to neigbouring countries. Before the towns were liberated, the Senate had directed its committee on INEC to liaise with the commission to establish special polling units for Internally Displaced Persons in the North-East. In response, INEC had made provisions for the IDPs to vote. A top official of the commission, who confided in our correspondent on Wednesday, recalled that INEC had made provision for the displaced people to vote. He, however, said the decision to hold elections in the liberated towns would be determined by security reports from the communities. The INEC official stated, “You will recall that we have decided that eligible voters in the IDP camps will be disenfranchised. “Those communities were liberated during the six-week postponement the security chiefs asked for. Provision was not made fo the people to vote in the towns because they were under the control of Boko Haram. “Our decision to hold elections in the towns will be based on security reports. We have not decided on whether elections will be held in the liberated towns or not.” When contacted, the Chief Press Secretary to the INEC Chairman, Mr. Kayode Idowu, said in an electronic mail to our correspondent that the commission had designed a programme for the IDPs to vote. Asked if elections would hold in the liberated towns or not, he said, “It is too early to say how it goes. INEC had designed a programme to enable the Internally Displaced Persons to vote in low-risk areas where voting centres will be created on the basis of their respective constituencies. “But if they are restored to their communities and are no longer internally displaced, INEC will have to work with that.” According to him, polling units in the IDP camps are not permanent structures. He said they would be set up on the election day after materials and personnel had arrived. http://naijaroof.com/2015/02/27/polls-may-not-…-investigation/ “There is no polling unit set up now in the IDP camps,” Idowu stated. Commenting on the probability of holding elections in the towns, Monguno said his people could perform their civic responsibilities because the communities had been liberated. “The people can perform their civic duties and we commend the armed forces for their gallantry,” Monguno stated. The Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has said he will not stop attacking the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.). The governor, who said he owed nobody any apology for exposing the alleged hypocrisy of the APC leaders, accused them of placing personal interests above national interest. Fayose, who spoke through his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Idowu Adelusi, in Ado-Ekiti on Thursday, was reacting to criticisms that had trailed his campaign for the re-election of President Goodluck Jonathan of the Peoples Democratic Party and his continuous attacks on Buhari. He however said, he had nothing personal against Buhari. According to him, the APC has not only packaged lies and tried to foist such on Nigerians, it has also compromised the Independent National Electoral Commission to rig the election earlier scheduled for February 14.
