Ntufam Hilliard Eta, the National Vice Chairman, South -South, All Progressives Congress (APC), has expressed optimism that the region will massively vote for President Muhammadu Buhari in 2019 presidential election.

Eta, who spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Abuja, said APC stakeholders in the South-South would work tirelessly to ensure that Buhari emerged victorious.

He said that the president had creditably acquitted himself; hence he deserved a second term in office.

“Far away from a time when a ruling party will tell you that they are going to conquer; they are going to garrison a political context.

“We will rather work hard in persuading our people to first of all understand; then believe in the policies of President Buhari and then give the necessary support he needs in 2019 to continue the good work that he is doing.

“That is the work that has been cut out for us and we are not overwhelmed by that work; we need to direct our energies and time to that task.

“ God being with us, we will win the presidential election in the south-south.’’

On the conferment of national honour on Chief Moshood Abiola(MKO), the presumed winner of the 1993 Presidential Election, Eta said it was a defining moment in Nigerian political history.

Buhari had on Tuesday formally conferred late MKO Abiola with the Grand Commander of the Federal Republic (GCFR), the highest honour of the land

“ 25 years ago MKO won the presidential election and not only was he stopped from taking power, he died in the process; unfortunately he was not the only one who died because of the fight to actualise June 12. A lot of Nigerians also died.

“In resuscitating the mandate and validating it, President Buhari has defined Nigeria along the lines of the principles that attended June 12, 1993 presidential election.

“It was a moment when Nigerians predicated their choice of leaders very far away from our fault lines which constitute things like religion, ethnicity, creed and even sex.

“On that day, Nigerians announced their unity and oneness; people can speak of the abandonment of religious and tribal cleavages but there is one they miss- Abiola was the first democratically elected president of southern extraction,’’ Eta said.

He said that Buhari had resurrected the oneness and unity of Nigeria by honouring Abiola with GCFR.

Speaking on crisis facing the ruling party, Eta said that solution had been found by the `conscription’ of comrade Adams Oshiomole to come and take the reins of leadership as the national chairman of the party.

The APC chieftain said that the crisis in the party was self-inflicted as a result of weakened leadership at the top.

The former governor of Edo state, Adams Oshiomhole yesterday said he would have arrested and prosecuted former President Olusegun Obasanjo if he were President Muhammadu Buhari.

This came as the former Edo State governor received more endorsements from the national leader of the party, Bola Tinubu, as well as governors elected on the platform of the party ahead of the national convention of the party.

Oshiomhole, who weighed in over the faceoff between President Buhari and Obasanjo, urged Buhari to investigate and jail the former president, should he be found to have dipped his hands into public treasury.

Speaking at the event in honour of late Chief MKO Abiola’s family chaired by Femi Falana, Oshiomhole also praised Chief Frank Kokori for standing up to dictatorship when it mattered most.

“He should be arrested if he has committed any offence. He arrested many of us. So, if we are celebrating Chief Gani Fawehinmi, we have compelling reasons to do so. In all of these, we didn’t pay any money to Gani or Falana. They defended us pro bono.

“Gani is not here today, but his spirit is here. Falana is here and today, I am standing. Even the president who was in charge then, he is now complaining that they want to harass him. He was harassing me and he got me arrested.

“He thought he himself would not be arrested? If I were the president I would arrest him. We are all Nigerians. I remember one day I told him, I said ‘President Obasanjo, we made you president. You did not make me a Nigerian.

“’You are our creation; I am not your creation. You must listen’. But he thought he would be in power forever and he tried to take us on the way to Zimbabwe. He was a reluctant Head of State, became president for two terms and he wanted to do a third term because a cockroach licking palm oil would never lick enough.”

Oshiomhole added that when he was accused by Obasanjo of behaving as if I was an alternate president; and he was running the NLC like a parallel government that wanted to overthrow his government.”

Ekiti Guber Election: Account for N165bn allocations, others, PDP challenges Fayemi

The Ekiti State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has asked the All Progressives Congress' (APC) candidate in the poll, Dr Kayode Fayemi, to explain how he spent statutory allocations and other funds that accrued to his government between 2010 and 2014.

The party, in a statement by the State Publicity Secretary, Mr Jackson Adebayo, in Ado-Ekiti on Sunday, said documents from the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation, the National Bureau of Statistics among others showed that Fayemi collected N165 billion as monthly allocations, excluding regular funds from Excess Crude Oil Account, grants, internally-generated revenues among others, but Fayemi still took N25 billion bond and N35 billion commercial loans with nothing to show for the funds.

Adebayo also said the Ayodele Fayose administration had done creditably well despite the lean resources at its disposal.

"In 2011, Fayemi got N40.5 billion as monthly statutory allocations. In 2012, he got N39.8 billion. In 2013, he got N44.3 billion and in 2014, he got N40.1 billion. Whereas, the Fayose administration got N28.2 billion in 2015, N18.8 billion in 2016 and N25.6 billion in 2017.

" Apart from the above monthly allocations, Fayemi still got regular funds from the Excess Crude Oil Account, IGR among others. Despite what Fayemi got, he still borrowed N25 billion from the Capital Market and took N31 billion commercial loans. The question is, what did he do with the money? Nothing.

"The N25 billion bond and commercial loans, through which he mortgaged the finances of our dear state for 20 years, were spent on nothing. He proposed an event centre, it was never completed. He said he would build a new Governor's Office, he only scraped a parcel of land near the House of Assembly Complex and did nothing. His new Ojaba Market, for which he erected a billboard at the entrance of the palace of Ewi, never saw the light of the day.

" His flyover only existed in his tommy. He half-completed a state pavilion and squandered the state's resources on frivolities. If he stopped at that it would have been better, but he went ahead to divert state funds to personal use. An example is the N850 million given the state by the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), Abuja which he diverted leading to the suspension of Ekiti State from the commission's funding for years," he said.

Adebayo said in contrast to Fayemi's waste of resources, the Fayose administration, in which Olusola is the deputy governor, had been prudent.

"The table of funds received by Fayemi and Fayose given above are public documents available in the offices of the NBS, OAGF and even on their websites. People can go there and access. Moreover, people can see what the Fayose administration has done with the meagre resources at its disposal.

" A new Governor's Office, new High Court Complex, Adunni Olayinka Women Development Centre, a flyover have been built. A new Ojaba Market is almost completed. Roads in Emure, Ise, Efon, Ijero, Omuo, Afao, Ilawe, Ikere, Ikole etc have been dualised. Car Wash- Afao Road built, same for Dehead- Police Headquarters Road among others.

"The teachers Fayemi planned to sack through a vindictive test, have been motivated and our state now ranks first in public examinations in the federation. This is the good trend that Prof Kolapo Olusola will continue with when elected governor. Fayemi and the APC have nothing good to offer the people of the state," he added.

Governor of Gombe, Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo has reacted to a link video showing him campaigning for President Buhari in his 2015 Election.

He took to Twitter handle to reacts to such claims by saying ;

"There was never a time I purportedly campaigned for President Muhammadu Buhari ahead of the 2019 presidential elections. Disregard the video being circulated online by mischief makers. We are loyal and committed members of PDP and we will continue to work for its success."

He added that,

"Even when the so called wind of change was blowing in the North, we stood by PDP and delivered! Is it now that we are at the threshold of history that we will betray the cause?"

Add also advised the youth on why to stick to a particular political ideology instead of seeking political offices

"Since I joined active politics till date, I have remained a loyal member of PDP. I have never defected and never will. Young people must know that politics is beyond seeking political office but about holding on to one’s principle and ideology."

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:

The entry requirements for all Higher National Diploma (HND) programmes are as follow:

Candidates are required to Possess National Diploma (ND) in their chosen programme at not below LOWER CREDIT Classification from a recognized/accredited Polytechnic. However, candidates with pass grade at the ND/NID are eligible for consideration for admission provided they have minimum of two (2) years post Industrial Training experience.

Candidates are to possess at least five (5) relevant O’level credits including English Language and Mathematics at not more than two (2) sittings from such examinations as SSC, GCE O’Level, NTC/NBC (WAEC/NECO/NABTEB O’level examinations)

Candidates are required to have at least one year post National Diploma industrial training experience.

Every applicant for the Polytechnic HND Programme who did not obtain his/her ND from the Federal Polytechnic Offa are required to forward a copy of his/her National Diploma Transcript to the Office of the Registrar.

METHOD OF APPLICATION

To apply online for HND, and Pre-ND programmes, candidates are to visit this Polytechnic portal: www.fpo.edu.ng, click on admission to fill application form, and thereafter make payment of Twelve Thousand Naira (N12,000.00) only with an ATM card that is interswitch compatible.

Candidates are to also upload scanned copy of certificate (s) /result(s) and other required documents as stated online.

A female student of the Tai Solarin University of Education, Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, identified as “Kofoworola Kuku Toheebah” was today crushed to death by a trailer, while on her way to the campus.

According to reports, her death has led to a massive protest by the students, who have blocked the Sagamu-Ijebu ode road.

The 300-Level Health Education student was said to have fallen from a bike taking her to school along the expressway, before being crushed by an oncoming trailer.

The Paris Saint-Germain striker has not played since February, but knows that ‘soccer-mad’ Brazilians are hoping he will be fit to lead their team to glory in the World Cup.

“Nobody is as scared as me,” he told TV Globo on Tuesday.

“I know that people are a little anxious, but nobody more than me, nobody is as nervous about my comeback and nobody is more scared than me.

Junaid Mohammed: Real reason that led to Buhari impeachment as Head of State

Junaid Mohammed, second republic lawmaker, has reacted to claims by President Muhammadu Buhari that his first attempt to tackle corruption in the country led his removal as the then Military Head of State.

The former lawmaker stressed that Buhari lied by making such claims.

Buhari had made the disclosure during the commissioning of the new office complex of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, in Abuja.

The president’s short stint back then ended in August 1985, following a coup led by his Chief of Army Staff, Ibrahim Babangida.

However, Mohammed, in his reaction said the President was being economical with the truth.

Speaking with Punch, Mohammed said, “The President is being economical with the truth by saying corruption was the reason he was ousted in 1985.

“He is lying. There were so many issues in 1985 which Buhari does not want to admit, which are still germane till now.

“It is too simplistic for him to claim that corruption sent him out of power. No, I don’t agree that it was corruption. It was a coup held for many factors such as individual ambitions and the national situation,” he said.
