larride:I'm not in the mood for small talks and jest now. It seems the cash crunch that your APC's Buhari unleashed on Nigerians no reach your side. Don't quote me to type nonsense. |
Roland17:The same thing with me, bros. That's why I don't have dogmas, fixed beliefs and mindset about life generally. I approach issues with an agnostic attitude and open mind. |
BlueRayDick:Those people you talk about don't read a lot. Without the Internet, they'd still exhibit the same attitude because they don't do a lot of reading and research. Social media only exposes them and makes it easier for them to spread fake news and misinformation. |
BlueRayDick:I agree with Donjazet2. If you're the type that used to read a lot before the advent of the Internet, you'll still continue the same habit with the Internet. In today's information age, it's easier to break free from propaganda and superstitious beliefs than it was 20 years ago when there was no Internet, when most people didn't have access to some books and some information. For someone like me, I don't rely on only results on the first page of Google when trying to read up on a subject like history. I read wide from diverse sources including contradictory references. The Internet has made it extremely easy to gain access to information on tons of subjects and topics — something that was difficult in the pre-Internet days. Now, you can read up on a topic and gain mastery of it with some hours of research using the Internet. Away from that, history is one of the most subjects in any education system and should be taken more seriously by the government. |
Say no cyber bullying, but you say yes to Islamist terrorism. Were oja Keep fooling yourself. |
People wey dey Benin, wetin dey happen for there. Just saw a WhatsApp video of some vehicles burning ferociously |
Dem don litter this thread with posts about the drug baron that no one knows his roots. Tinubu, with his shady past and failing health, won't smell Aso Rock. Both Tinubu and Buhari are responsible for the suffering of millions of Nigerians for the past eight years, which culminated in the recent cash shortages and fuel hikes. In a sane country, Tinubu will be languishing in jail being an unrepentant criminal. |
swiz123:Sadly, that's not happening anytime soon. Maybe when we enter relegation zone sha o |
Roland17:Lols, the guy is tired of the scam, but na him wife be the problem now |

[quote author=Tataffo post=121014395]This is an evidence of not spanking a child... The pikin dey destroy TV's for ShopRite dey go and he is watched on because kids looks mentally ill. He could be autistic. Na so Nigerian teachers go use caning remold a child that learns very slowly because he has ADHD |
Saka Saola draws Arsenal level. |
Ihebu4chelsea:Experts have done a lot of studies on the harmful effects of corporal punishment on children, "including physical and mental ill-health, impaired cognitive and socio-emotional development, poor educational outcomes, increased aggression and perpetration of violence", according to the WHO. With more scientific understanding of brain development in children, the evidence against corporal punishment for kids keeps piling up. Spanking a child should be discouraged and abolished. It does more harm than good on the child's health and development in the long run. https://www.who.int/news-room/fact-sheets/detail/corporal-punishment-and-health |
Ihebu4chelsea:You've not given any evidence to back your assertion. |
Ihebu4chelsea:Parenting is difficult with or without caning. |
Ihebu4chelsea:Okay, Africans are animals abi? They're not humans? I asked for your metrics that show caning is the most effective form of punishment for an African child. What are they? Where's your evidence? |
Ihebu4chelsea:You think all African parents cane their kids? |
Ihebu4chelsea:Experts of early childhood education don't rely on your Bible to know the most effective way of disciplining a child. They use solid evidence and data obtained from years of studies in biology, early childhood education, and medicine. There are many teachings in the Bible that are dated, one of which is caning. That's why it has been abolished in many First-World countries. |
Ihebu4chelsea:What evidence shows the effectiveness of caning in disciplining a child? |
Ihebu4chelsea:Yes. I know parents that never caned their children, and those children grew up into responsible adults. You can't raise children that are emotionally and physically healthy by depending solely on caning them. There's a higher risk of exposing the kids to trauma and abuse by using corporal punishment such as caning. If caning is so effective, many countries around the world whose systems of education are much more effective than African countries wouldn't have abolished it. It's unhealthy and unwise to expose an innocent child to corporal punishment from frustrated teachers we've all around who unleash their anger on kids in the name of discipline. |
Ihebu4chelsea:Why then are corruption and lawlessness so rife in Africa? I should trust you because you're an expert in early childhood education? Caning works, yet Africa is so corrupt and lawless, yet the education systems in most African countries are some of the worst in the world. Can you tell me what metrics show caning is the most effective form of punishment for an African child? Because your Bible says so? |
Ihebu4chelsea:Lols, caning a child doesn't really make him/her useful in life. It only damages him/her mentally and physically. It's child abuse. |
Ihebu4chelsea:You can expose your child to trauma and physical abuse all in the name of discipline. That's your choice. As for me, I don't see how corporal punishment is better than what UNICEF recommends. If corporal punishment is effective, Nigerians won't be so corrupt and lawless. Anyway, Nigeria is a jungle sha. Recently, one kid lost his life in my neighborhood due to this barbaric form of punishment which has no place in society in modern times. There are tons of such cases yearly where kids are traumatized and physically abused by their parents and teachers in the name of discipline. Such a form of punishment is anti-human and does more harm than good to the innocent child. It should be abolished. |

BlueRayDick:I also watched the video. I can't allow anyone to beat my child as I detest such kind of punishment and won't beat my child when they err. It's criminal, and the teacher should be prosecuted in a sane country. The older generations that believe in the "spare the rod and spoil the child" mantra are mostly responsible for the poor state of the country, with Nigeria ranked abysmally low on all aspects of the human development index (HDI), with Nigeria one of the most corrupt countries in the world. UNICEF recommends how to discipline a child the smart and healthy way: https://www.unicef.org/parenting/child-care/how-discipline-your-child-smart-and-healthy-way That's the best way to discipline a child correcting them with love and care. |

So, Aproko Doctor had a brain tumor late last year and went through the knife in December to remove the tumor. I'm glad the surgery was successful and am even happier that such a complex surgery was done in Nigeria. I could relate to some of the things he said in the video below from my experience in 2021 after an accident. Thanks to science. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bQBlL9iVxeo |
