ToyinDipo:Do your research. Donald Knuth, the inventor of the concept, is a renowned computer scientist. That's enough to show the application of the concept in that field. Surreal numbers are a concept under number theory, which is essential in the development of programming languages and computing generally. |
ToyinDipo:Why don't you do a bit of research on what you're discussing instead of arguing ignorantly? Donald Knuth wrote the book on surreal numbers (a term he coined) as far back as 1974, and he's just realising the usefulness of surreal numbers in 2024? Your comment sef dey make me laugh |
ToyinDipo:Lols, what point? Those number systems I discussed have practical importance in science and technology, especially Computer Science (programming, functional programming). It's people doing elementary Physics in secondary schools and some research areas in Physics that the numbers have no practical use for. |
ToyinDipo:Yes, they're considered zero in the practical sense. This is due to the fact that such infinitesimal (extremely small) numbers don't have a physical kind of existence to us, humans, because of our narrow scope of perception. But apart from the physical kind of existence, there are other forms of existence, such as the mental type. So, surreal numbers (and others like hyperreal and superreal numbers) have a mental kind of existence, living in the brains (minds) of their inventors and those studying them. While laypeople may not appreciate these numbers, they actually hold deep significance with regard to the underlying structures (fundamental structures) of the matrix we, humans, perceive as reality. As I said before, people that know a lot of numbers (especially highly complex numbers like hyperreal, surreal numbers, and the likes) know a lot of mysteries about nature (the Universe). So, it's good to study numbers. |
ToyinDipo:Impractical in what sense? And which idea are you referring to specifically? |
This is a beautiful story on how mathematicians invent numbers and other concepts in Mathematics: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mPn2AdMH7UQ?si=DwH4C_A3_IepNcQH This video delves into how Donald Knuth, a professor emeritus of Mathematics and Computer Science, came about the concept of surreal numbers building on the foundational work done by another renowned mathematician, John Horton Conway, on the subject. The surreal number system is so fascinating. This is a case study of how these numbers come to their authors and inventors in states such as wakeful states, dreams, meditations, and others, showing the existence of other dimensions apart from the physical dimensions.

Ibime:Arsenal still had a slim chance to stage a comeback in the game until Jorginho decided to help the visitors with the second goal, lols |
Highlight of the Arsenal game for me: "... Jorginho giving the ball away..." — the commentator Jorginho did a giveaway and got punished by Watkins, putting Aston Villa two goals ahead of the hosts. |
Happy World Quantum Day "World Quantum Day is an annual celebration promoting public awareness and understanding of quantum science and technology around the world. Roland17:Dem talk say initially, he was taken to the river to appease the river gods to wake am before being carried to the mortuary. If this is true, he come be like say many people in the country still dey live in the 15th century, while others in the West are in the 21st century. Lols Perhaps they believe the drowning was an act of the gods. Lols. Look at all the time wasted and no one even thought he needed a CPR? Such a pitiful situation for his wife and kids. Government and bodies such as NGOs, citizens need to educate and orientate Nigerians about the importance of learning CPR and other medical techniques that are vital in case of emergencies like this. Jesus Christ or God no dey save anyone. Even Yeshua couldn't save himself from being crucified in the past era. On this planet, we only have ourselves, our family, good friends, and the government (if they're reliable). That's our support system: our fellow humans, not Jesus or any god. No God helps or saves anyone. |
Ibime: Roland17:Belief in Jesus or Allah won't allow people to know all these things. People wey dey look for miracles all about can't see the importance of learning CPR to save lives, after all Jesus is the ultimate lifesaver based on their belief. May we never be unfortunate in life by experiencing some medical conditions among Nigerians. Na useless prayers dem go dey chant all about instead of taking the necessary steps medically urgently before it's too late. |
Ibime:In the online video, na Jesus dem dey praise say he revive am. They believe they need Jesus Christ more than learning such a vital life-saving technique like CPR. No wonder Nigeria has one of the lowest life expectancies in the world. People can't be this dumb and ignorant, and their ignorance won't shorten their life. Make person no ust get bad luck and find himself in this situation among Nigerians requiring the use of CPR. Na useless prayers in the name of Jesus Christ or Allah the mumu people go dey recite, instead of doing the needful (applying the needed medical technique). |
Ibime:I don't know the guy, but I heard he's still alive. Hope he pulls through. |
Peter Higgs, the Father of the Higgs boson, the God particle, dies at 94. A huge loss to the Physics world, especially the UK scientific community. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RIg1Vh7uPyw?si=_pCN8Y_vo3L5lMUu

Many people did Euclidean Geometry in school. But most people don't know Euclid is a key ancestor of the whites and had existed in the ancient eras as a contemporary of Olorun, Chukwu, Yahweh, and the likes. All these gods are past humans that had existed in different eras on Earth in the past, and they usually know a lot of advanced numbers (hypercomplex numbers and the likes) "The Elements" written by Euclid in the past era is regarded as the most influential book of Mathematics of the antiquity ever written in history and one of the most influential books in human history. If someone is worshipping and praying to Euclid today for protection, blessing, and the likes, people can easily how stupid such a person is. That's exactly how thinkers see people worshipping and praying to Olorun, Chukwu, Yahweh, Allah, and the likes in modern times. Just like there's Euclidean Geometry, there is also Atomic Geometry, Olodumare Geometry, Chukwu Geometry, and others if you research deeply into the history of your roots (ancestors). For instance, in Odu Ifa, key ideas can be got there that can give insight into some of the mysteries Olorun know. These are some ways to develop a career as a young scientist using African native knowledge systems and make novel contribution to knowledge. But without deep use of their brain and setting aside the worship of a god or God, it's impossible to make a headway in this area.

Spy360:Low intelligence is the major problem you've and deep-seated ignorance. All these things are common knowledge among thinkers. Other parts of the world in Europe, Asia that have realized that all the gods and goddesses were past humans and that God is a human construct are much more developed than most parts of Africa due to many Africans like you suffering from low intelligence. That's the major reason why the continent is the most backward of all regions in the world: Low intelligence. Most people see whites use names such as Euclid to name a telescope, science missions and don't realize that Euclid is one of the major ancestors of the Europeans (the whites) and a contemporary of deities such as Olorun, Chukwu, Allah, and the likes in the Old World. However, the whites, due to the fact that they've intelligent people in higher numbers than Africa, have incorporated names of their ancestors into science and technology, which is what's selling in modern times, not religion that's dying out. So, they're significantly ahead and have left Africa many, many years behind. Terms such as Neptune, Saturn, and the likes used to name planets are all past humans and ancestors of the Europeans (whites). In the past eras in Europe, Neptune, Saturn each had been worshipped as Supreme God in different parts of that continent, just like low-level thinkers in Africa still worship Olorun, Chukwu, and the likes today as Supreme God in their respective cultures. What's even worse is that they attribute these native deities to the foreign deities from Europe and Asia. However, thinkers in Europe and other parts of the world know all gods are past humans. God is a human construct. Africa is backward today due to the problem of low intelligence of the majority. If not for this problem, different native cultures would have incorporated the names of their black ancestors (such Atum, Olorun, Chineke, and many others) into science and technology so Africa can claim some stakes in science and technology, which is what's selling in the modern era, not religions wey don cast and are dying. The whites and Asians are ahead because of the low collective intelligence of Africa as a continent. It's the same problem that makes people like you regard Chukwu the same as the ancestor of the Israelites, Yahweh. |
Spy360:Where did I tell you that chi is god? Is everything okay with you? And which silly assignment? Ignorance is your problem. Deep ignorance. You don't know the origin of those Igbo words and you don't know you don't know. I'm not here to engage in silly arguments. As I said before, whether it's Chukwu, Olorun, or any other gods of any culture/religion, they were all past humans (the first beings that claimed the title of Supreme God in the Old Worlds in their respective cultures). When you've enough intelligence to differentiate between Olorun, Chukwu/Chineke, Yahweh, and Allah, you'd understand this simple fact. For now, you can keep regarding all of them as the same. This is simply due to low IQ. |
Eunoiaa:Those dreams might be due to books you've read or movies you've seen, which the brain was replaying for you while asleep. But the dreams might also be due to other factors. It's not humanly possible to remember all the dreams one has. But personally, I always keep a diary that serves as a dream journal to avoid forgetting key information or ideas I got in dreams. For some people, even while asleep, the brain often continues to work on activities they were doing in the wakeful state. So, that's why keeping a dream journal is important. Eunoiaa:I work mostly on Mathematical Physics and Mathematical Consciousness Science using Abstract Algebra. There are actually many number systems yet to be discovered/developed by humans. I believe more number systems will be discovered/developed by scientists in the coming years. Those beings people worship as gods and goddesses know a lot of (advanced) numbers. Actually, if you know numbers a lot, you can discover a lot of mysteries about the Universe. |
Eunoiaa:Okay. Those are your preferences. Certain songs can help some people meditate deeper. Some of them can also have healing effects when a person is ill. It's all a matter of personal taste and style. There is no single universal method that works for everyone when it comes meditation. |
Eunoiaa:Okay, I do research work in Physics, Mathematics, and Consciousness Science. I regard it as my life's work, a sort of calling based on some personal experiences (such as lucid dreaming and the likes) I had years ago while in the university and before then. Those experiences are what serve as a source of motivation for engaging in science in these areas. So, I've a penchant for collecting and reading old books of history, philosophy, and science. However, I've not read the Book of Moses, even though I've heard so much about it. As an African, characters such as Moses, Jesus Christ, and the likes have toxic, destructive energy. It's always advisable to adopt a science-based approach to one's spirituality. However, most people will find it hard because of the level of thinking and meditation required to do this. About the verification aspect, it requires engaging in reflection in the wakeful state and making some research on experiences or information one got from the dream world. The dream world is highly subjective, but it has objective aspects as well. In spite of its highly subjective nature, people have got powerful, revolutionary ideas from the dream world. Most world's languages, a number of technologies, mathematical languages (formulas and equations), and others came to people via dreams. So, it's beneficial to always pay keen attention to one's dreams. |
Eunoiaa:Interesting. As humans, our physical reality is influenced greatly by happenings and events in the dream world (our inner world). You'll find it easier to engage in lucid dreaming if your symmetrical partner at the other side (the non-physical realm, also called the spiritual realm in the cultural/religious context) wants you to have such a gift. All the gifts we, humans, have and everything we do here are determined by that partner, which the Yoruba people call "ori" (inner head) in Ifa spirituality or "chi" in the Igbo culture. It actually exists, and there are specific mathematical formulations underlying it in Consciousness Science based on Abstract Algebra and related areas. So, it's always advisable for one to know oneself deeply (i.e., know your symmetrical partner, "ori" or "chi" ) via regular meditations so as to discover your gifts and how to make the best use of them to achieve greatness in the physical realm. Also, it's good to find the most suitable way to meditate and connect with the inner self (the symmetrical partner) yourself, instead of adhering to a specific method discovered by others dogmatically in any religion or group. |
One of the most interesting papers I've read this month: The Neuroscience of Lucid Dreaming: Past, Present, and Future "Lucid dreaming allows conscious awareness and control of vivid dream states; however, its rarity and instability make neuroscientific experimentation challenging. Recent advances in wearable neurotechnology, large-scale collaborations, citizen neuroscience, and artificial intelligence increasingly facilitate the decoding of this intriguing phenomenon." Source: https://doi.org/10.1016/j.neuron.2024.03.008 In the coming years, some interesting gadgets (neurotechnology) could be built as applications of studies like this.

raumdeuter:No be every moronic comment for Nairaland person dey give a response to. |
It's humans that create cultures and traditions, not any divine entity. Good elements of culture and traditions such as compassionate science, wise sayings and proverbs that teach morality, and other beneficial traditions need to be promoted. However, the bad ones such as religion, slavery, caste system, and forcing/coercing widows to remarry within the late husband's family, etc., should be abolished because they do more harm than good overall, especially in modern times. Humans create all cultures and traditions in the world, not God. God is a man-made construct. Every culture around the world has its good and bad aspects. It's always good to promote good aspects of one's culture and traditions and condemn the bad elements. |

I can relate to the experience of this guy. Kudos to him for helping to develop science in the Igbo culture. We need more highly intelligent people like this guy in different parts of Africa and less of priests of religious gods.
