Basically, send email via php mail function and not having it delivered into bulk mail is not guaranty. Mail filters checks on ur IP address( I mean the server IP address). Since PHP mail function will be using this IP in sendiing ur email, ur email will end up in junk mail as far as ur server IP is been blacklisted. The best way to avoid this is using SMTP. However, SMTP is not also guaranty if the IP of the SMTP server is blacklisted also. Hosting ur site on server located in UK and USA helps alot in safe email delivery but most people don't know. If U know that ur IP is blacklisted, U can buy a dedicated IP and figure ur email way out, but this will cost U more.
