TheSuperNerd: Examinations ? You mean a kind of Thread Quiz? hmmmm.... funny how you just said it as a joke but then you just may have given me an idea with a monetary reward attached to it.
I am just one person in this mighty thread but I think it could work. It may be a quiz, or kind of debate... or maybe both orrrrrr... well you know something informative and educating and all related to the beautiful game with Nigerian football the main focus. Hmmmm... with monetary attachment, I think it will be attractive. I can give out the winner's prize. But hey... this is just me talking. I stumbled thru my mentions and saw your comment and was like.... hmmmmm... what if... That will be wonderful. I hope I don't miss it. I actually didn't mean my comment as a serious suggestion but now that u say it. . . . . |

But the previous page was damn hilarious. Icon4s come cause confusion. I laughed till I was quaking like a rickety lorry on a pothole-laden road. Una too much.
Now let me quietly return to ghost mode |

DrKlever: lol what's so special about the 94 kits that you so much love it and want a repeat? Just brings back memories of the set of Eagles that played the best football. moreover the design is more adventurous and daring, much better than the all-green we've been wearing since then |

safarigirl: Please, can we stop these silly 'what if' arguments? What if Mikel had gone to United instead of Chelsea? What if Iheanacho had gone to Porto instead of Man City? Man City ruined him blah blah blah....
People of God, do you know how many Nigerians have gone to Porto? What has become of them? The likes of Chidera Ezeh, have they become world class or anywhere close to Kelechi? Have they even nailed regular spots anywhere?
Let us stop all these useless arguments on what could have been but never was, and yes, goldfish80 this message is for you and all the other "he could have been" people
Me sef, I should have attended Unilag and should have been a graduate by now, but see where I dey.
There are no guarantees that another path could have been better, every single one of us on this thread must have made choices that perhaps did not go well, but does that mean the other option could have been better? No.
So, please, let us be factual, talk about the here and now, by the way, mocking any of these players makes you look like a petty hater, even if it is just to rile anyone up. Everyone has their own shortcomings in life, just because yours is not on display for us to drag you with does not mean it doesn't exist
Remember that, whenever you feel like being petty Abeg, you dey drink beer? I wan buy u one crate for this. Reminds me of a certain Linking Park song, "weep not for roads untravelled" |

Icon79: I honestly don't like her novels. And I have read practically all of them. I sincerely believe that it's the illuminati who are promoting her. And they would dump her like hot potatoes once they finish using her.
Don't get me wrong, she's an above average writer but not anything close to what they are trying to make her become!
O pari If u are going to observe her work through the "Achebe lens", trust me, u'd never enjoy them. and they aren't trying to make her become anything; she's still the best we currently have. At least till someone does better |
Literature › Re: Google: Why We Honoured Chinua Achebe by aadvark: 12:35am On Nov 28, 2017 |
Icon79: The problem with Chimamanda is that she's trying to copy Achebe too much. Unfortunately, Achebe is a master storyteller who can't be copied. You don't copy a genius. Anyway, lucky for her, she's the "chosen one", so they would keep promoting her above her level.
O pari I get that u love Achebe, and so do I, but it seems u are trying to water down Adichie's efforts. she's still the best contemporary storyteller we have. |

Icon79: Word!
O pari Oh my! I think you're stretching it to chauvinism now. Chimamanda is the best novelist still alive in present Nigeria. If you don't let her feminist movement cloud your judgement, you'd see how good she is. Her style of storytelling is presently unique |

THE MILL
*
The millstones turn lazily on their spindle, Worked by sickly beasts of pitiful state. Dancing round and round with little ambition, Straining to grind my grain into powdery submission. My mill grinds slowly, my meal shall be late, And my cooking hearth, I'm yet to kindle.
*
The millstones' chafing sound Mocks my near-unbearable hunger, As around the mill I mill around And wonder how much longer.
*
My mill grinds slowly, and my breakfast is served When the sun strikes the top of the head, And other folks gather for lunch. My mill grinds slowly, and my lunch is served When the sun's burning fierceness is dead, And on supper, my neighbours leisurely munch. *
My short and wobbly feet are stripped of all will, And I come last in every race No matter how hard I run. Like a grandfather toiling up a hill, I lose all steam and pace, And cross the finish line when spectators are gone.
*
When shall I stop eating dinner at dawn?
For with a slug's lazy urgency, my mill grinds. But I shall take comfort that it grinds
*

I have been shouting Dessers here for eons, but these people only seem interested in that NEPA pole simply because he plays in that overrated league.
I am telling you, Dessers is gold and I am glad that sugarcane boy went to England because that means there will be space for the likes of Dessers. He's the real gem here. Thank God there are people like u who see the light. I just pray Rohr turns his attention to this Dessers dude |

Mujtahida: They make them into tap in merchants from the production line these days. The days of Ronaldo de Lima is gone.
As for your other observations you are spot on. Mickael2 has opined too that we need a CF that combines both hold up play attributes and that of a poacher. The only difference is that he might not agree with you on Ighalo.
As for Dessers, you deserve a chilled drink of whatever brand you take with goat head pepper soup. Lol, thanks. I was starting to think I was the only one who noticed Dessers |

tbaba1234: Tammy has very good movement, that is what puts him in dangerous positions. I'm not taking anything away from his play, I'm just pointing out that his style of play does not suit us as much as Dessers does. where he's left with the only option of shooting from distance, he'll flounder, and trust me, Eagles strikers get put in such situations often. what about taking on 2-3 defenders head on, he isn't as good as Dessers there too. Put Tammy in a team like Spain's where a lot of creativity goes on, and he'll score till u beg him to stop. But in a team like Nigeria's, Dessers is the better option, I'm sorry |

Joebie: THE FULL LIST with REPLACEMENTS
Goalkeepers: Daniel Akpeyi (Chippa United, South Africa); Ikechukwu Ezenwa (FC IfeanyiUbah); Francis Uzoho (Deportivo La Coruna, Spain)
Defenders: William Ekong (Bursaspor FC, Turkey); Abdullahi Shehu (Anorthosis Famagusta, Cyprus); Tyronne Ebuehi (ADO Den Haag, The Netherlands); Leon Balogun (FSV Mainz 05, Germany); Uche Agbo (Standard Liege, Belgium); Chidozie Awaziem (Nantes FC, France); Olaoluwa Aina (Hull City, England), Kenneth Omeruo (Kasimpasa FC, Turkey)
Midfielders: Mikel John Obi (Tianjin Teda, China); Wilfred Ndidi (Leicester City, England); Oghenekaro Etebo (CD Feirense, Portugal); John Ogu (Hapoel Be’er Sheva, Israel); Mikel Agu (Bursaspor FC, Turkey); Chidiebere Nwakali (Sogndal FC, Norway)
Forwards: Ahmed Musa (Leicester City, England); Kelechi Iheanacho (Leicester City, England); Olarenwaju Kayode (Girona, Spain) ; Alex Iwobi (Arsenal FC, England); Henry Onyekuru (RSC Anderlecht, Belgium); Anthony Nwakaeme (Hapoel Be’er Sheva, Israel)
STANDBY: Alhassan Ibrahim (FK Austria Wien, Austria); Brian Idowu (FC Amkar Perm, Russia) Thanks bro. I don't know if I'm the only one who's excited that Tammy didn't join the Eagles. I never thought he'd be good for us. I watched all the goals he scored for Bristol and Swansea so far and I don't think he's so different from Iheanacho. Heck, Nacho can even threaten from outside the box but almost all of Tammy's goals were tap-ins. The only thing I know he does excellently well is hold-up play, but Ighalo already does that. Odion needs to only work on his accuracy and concentration. Basically, the Eagles need a striker who combines attributes like hold-up play, threat from distance, ability to take on defenders, and accuracy as well. Therefore, Ighalo remains the best we have for now. As for alternatives, Tammy won't work for Nigeria, for we play a system where the striker has to do a lot of work and sometimes has to craft something out of nothing. That is where Dessers comes in. I don't know why everyone seems blind to this guy's abilities; probably cos he is willing to play for us. You know we have a tradition of not valuing whoever wants us. I watched Tammy's highlights and Dessers' the same day and that Belgian dude impressed me so much. He is more adventurous, can threaten from anywhere, with both feet, and can take on and bamboozle defenders. I urge u to watch his goals and highlights and compare with Tammy's. I think that if he's given the Eagles chance, he'll blow up in our faces. I believe he and Ighalo deserve to be our strikers for the world cup. Anyway, its just my opinion. |
