1: Please get the following items; Salt 10KG, Wood ash (eeru) as many as possible (I will advise you visit a bakery), Oxytetracycline ( can be found where you buy floating feeds) N800 worth is fine.


2) Block the water both inlet and outlet. Do NOT allow any water to enter or go out


3) Drain the water... and leave little water to cover their body


4) Mix the three items stated in 1 above, and sprinkle it in your pond in such a way that it circulate round, also make sure you apply to the bagging inside the pond.


5) Leave them like that for 48 hours before feeding them

Flour is more important than Molasis. If there is no molasis then they should use water to pellet the feeds together

It has been argued in some quarters however that Koko Garri, Maize, PKC and all what have you gives fish weight. Abegi, I have used it and I noticed that too much of it in the feeds does not allow the fish to digest the food intakes on time, reduce the amount of feeds they consumed and also waste feeds in that most of the fish will pick the feeds, you will be thinking they are eating it but alas they will go to the bottom of the pond to vomit it.

I'm looking forward to seeing members drop formulas that they have tried and which gave them not just good but great result. Oga ab1x said he doesn't have stable formula as he tries new ideas. There are lots of ingredients that one can use in feed formulation but some are not been presented here. I will like the house and gurus to discuss on special ingredients used in feed formulation. We have classes: animal protein, plant protein, energy sources and supplements. Fish meal, blood meal, bone meal, ground nut cake(GNC), soya, soybean meal(SBM), full fat soya, peanut, maize, whole wheat, wheat offal, rice bran, animal fat, fish oil, egusi, flour, biscuit, indomie, gala, etc.

The fact is, there are many ingredients in feed formulation however the most important one is fish meal and it is constant. Blood meal is fine but you can't use blood meal to replace fish meal but they can both be included in feed formulation. However, the problem with blood meal is that it can easily infect your fish with disease. Research has shown that the process which they go through to process it is unhygienic and as such they are easily prone to disease. It is also very difficult to control the disease when it happens. Another problem with using blood meal is that it pollutes the water fast.

Bone meal is fine. It is one of the ingredient that I have used in the past but I observe that most of the crusher they used do not crush it very well which sometimes hard for the fish to digest on time and if they do not digest it then it can make them die or reduce their eating habit.

Wheat Offal can be used to replace maize in that it is a cheap alternative compared to maize however, maize is rich in nature than wheat offal. I have used it in the past. It is advisable to use it for matured fish ( fish that are around 4 months to reduce cost)

My take is that the NA is really trying but it is just that bh has really gained ground. It will take a lot of time (years) before they can wiped them out

2000 litrs of storex/geepee tanks? That your consultant said he does, does not mean he is doing the right thing. If you must know, I stock between 800-1000 pieces of fish in a 30 by 40 by 4ft deep earthen pond. What do you think I get after 6months? I get between 1400 to 1700 KG. In essence, the more the space the better the result
