manny4life: Your assessment is quite funny. Apple assembles its iPhone in China since time began, and that's because of cheap labor and corporate taxes and not because of technology transfer. Intel would have moved but stayed back because you don't know why? The why is the same reason why other tech giants remain "protected" in the U.S. due to patent laws. Ford was bailed (part of Detroit 3) by the Obama Administration, and have remained "very profitable", and their announcement to move a small part of their production to Mexico (announcement in 2017 after Trump became president) is in part due to increased labor cost and more importantly, Trrump's policy direction on tariffs on trade and NAFTA.
You're obviously unsure on what Obama did... America was in recession, the worst after the great depression, American companies were folding up, mortgage foreclosure was on the rise, corporate America was under, America was pretty much a shitty country. Obama came on-board, and cleaned out the mess bush made, restored good faith in Corporate America, unemployment was reduced, spending increased, capital expenditures boomed, America was investing in Technology, Education, Social Infrastructures, Oil, Gas and Energy, Small businesses (the engine of any economy) was on the rise, it wasn't perfect, but it was a lot better. Obama believed in transforming America to compete with China in terms of Infrastructural development.
Under Obama, America's trade balance with China reduced, though negative but reduced. American farmers enjoyed Obama's policy, I can bet they're enjoying it now... lol. I am not saying Obama was without flaws, he had issues but to say America was on verge of collapse reeks ignorance. Compare mortgage rates during Obama and now, and you'd thank me later. Compare oil/fuel/energy prices during Obama and now, and you'd thank me later.. Compare cost of healthcare and education then vs now, and you'd thank me later.
Did I mention the "JOBS" Act that has been aimed to raise public funds for startups? All under Obama, and this surely made American economy boom rapidly because access to capital wasn't only for the BIG multinational Corps. Obama handed Trump a booming economy, not one plagued with threats of Trade War, etc. Trump is making America great again you say? I ask again and again: HOW IS TRUMP MAKING AMERICA GREAT AGAIN? Teach those knuckleheads who always come on Nairaland to spout their garbage about Obama. |

Leonbonapart: . Obama is the worst thing to ever happen to America. Many are even asking Trump to jail him. donb06: wow impressive..... You get a lot of guys who don't know a damn thing about America but they will come on Nairaland to exhibit their ignorance. There's a reason Obama won twice overwhelmingly both by popular votes and electoral votes. Plus no scandal in his eight years like the buffoon ruling us in America now. |
Foreign Affairs › Re: Barack Obama Is Greatest President Of Our Lifetime - Many Americans Say by Abbeybailey(m): 3:23pm On Jul 12, 2018 |
donb06: how many serious americans voted for this...... if obama stayed an extra 2 yrs in the white house USA would have been crumbling down economy wise... companies were living the US due to the porous manner their technologies were revealed to china and india due to poor foreign policies made by obama all in the guise of global peace.. Obviously You know nothing about America's economy. When Obama came in on Jan 20, 2009, America was losing 700.000 jobs monthly due to George W two useless wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Many blue chips companies were going belly up and Dow Jones came down to 6.000. Obama stemmed it and the economy was one of the best in recent America history which he handed over to Trump. Obama created more than 20 million jobs and he was greatly loved by Americans up till today hence his high approval number. |

Bsuedu: Im curious about something, from what I understand there is a heavy migration of Nigerians/Africans in Chicago land, Cincy/Columbus region, DC area, and Texas. Why is that? I figured Texas is probably weather related. What about the others? Chicago is da bomb because it's centrally located and it has a lot of opportunities. Chicago is family friendly too. The only downside to me is the cold winter months. |

dasparrow: What bloody culture? Why must African culture always be so barbaric and cause bodily harm to other human beings? What of the elderly, the disabled and the sick that can't run when they see these animals in humanskin called masquerades, what happens to them?
We should call a spade a spade. What is wrong is wrong. In sane climes, what these masquerades are doing would be considered assault but in Nigeria that useless country, anything goes.
Most Nigerians are just too wicked and aggressive for my liking. And then you wonder why citizens of other countries don't want Nigerians in their country. Most Nigerians just behave like animals and then make excuses for their useless barbaric behaviour by blaming it on culture. Gbam. |

Bsuedu: It does. I said in my own experiences and of some others in my circle. It depends on how people grow up. In my case, I have Nigerian blood running through my veins through my parents and some people think of me as AKATA. What set me and my Brother and two Sisters apart is that we are very fluent in Yoruba language. In my case, I have been to Nigeria more than thirty times and my parents even encouraged me to get a place in Lagos and I did. Deep down, we are all the same people looking to take care of our family and do the right thing. I work in an office full of White guys and i would vouch for 99% of them. |

Bsuedu: You are right. Ive been saying that this beef btween africans and african americans is ridiculous if only we would take the time to understand each other. I have to say that from my experiences Nigerians dont mind believing the generalizations fed to them about AAs but dont want to be treated the same way. Both sides think that the other is looking down on them. But in my experiences Nigerians tend to be the offending party in this. What about people like me that get caught in the middle. I just see people for what they are and that's the way I teach my three young ladies and Jnr. The only thing that riled me up is bigotry no matter where it comes from. Hence my disdain for Trump. |

Favor99: I’m in the Midwest. Yea both parties are bad. But yea I will admit the republicans are worse. Both I don’t trust either one of them. The Democrat liberals and republicans are putting wedge between Black Americans and Africans. They divide black people were ever we are. But here in America they really will do anything to divide Black Americans and Nigerians/Africans. If we were to unite, we would be a very very big threat to the whites.
I have white friends that are always bad mouthing Black Americans to me, while praising African people. My cousin is married to a white guy that kind of poisoned her mind against Black Americans. These same whites will go to Black Americans and start bashing and talking sh.it about us Africans like crazy.
I’m sorry I don’t trust white folks Don't Midwest have different cities. I grew up in Uptown section of Chitown and resides in Oak Park just outside of Chicago now. So which particular city and neighborhood you reside. |

Favor99: No racism against Africans in America is way worse than any tribalism in Nigeria. It’s way worse here. You grew up here and don’t have an accent so you don’t experience it on that level
But Africans that grew up on the continent experience it a lot. Racism against Africans is not only in America though, it’s throughout the world outside of sub-Saharan Africa Ok , you are on your own . Goodnight. |

Favor99: Thousands of Africans died of Ebola in the west coast of Africa during the Ebola scare 4 years ago. They didn’t do anything until it got to America. And even when it did, only the Africans that came here died of it. The other Americans were treated and survived They don’t care about us. Obviously You don't know of what you speak. The tribalism going on in Africa is even worse. Deal with that first before you worry about the people thousands of miles away from the shores of Africa. |

Favor99: I know the republicans are racists, and yes they are worse than the other party. But the democrats are also very bad. I ran into this one white democrat lady, she wasnt running for anything super big, when we were bringing up Africa a couple times in our conversation, you should have seen the facial expression on her face, a pretty negative one.
These people control the media and are promoting hatred and racism towards Africans. They are pitting Black Americans against Africans and vice versa. They are doing everything possible to divide both groups.
Make no mistake, dem or republican, neither are good. Yes true, one is worse than the other I completely disagree with you. Trump, Jeff Sessions our AG, Steve Miller, David Duke, Congressman Steve King of Iowa, Pat Buchanan of Browning of America fame and so many others are republikkkans. You know what they all have in common, they are all hard core racists. Name me one Democrat. |
