A group within the Peoples Democratic Party, Concerned Stakeholders, has advised Governor Ayodele Fayose to focus on finding solutions to the unpaid salaries in Ekiti State rather than criticise the policies of the Federal Government. The group, while reacting to Fayose’s recent criticisms of the Federal Government, said the governor was only seeking political relevance. It said that Fayose continued to comment on national issues while the self-inflicted crisis in his state needed attention. The group, in a statement signed by Prof. Tayo Akinyemi, on Wednesday, said Fayose should be proactive in resolving the state’s inability to pay workers’ salaries. It said, “Fayose should adopt result-oriented negotiation skills and resolve his internal governance issues before considering what President Buhari has done right or wrong. Ekiti is only one of 36 states. If all the 36 states have to monitor the President’s steps, there would be commotion in the country. The governor must concentrate on governance with best practices in his state. “President Buhari, according to our investigations, was pressurised by international organisations and well-meaning groups to adopt dialogue in handling the militancy in the Niger Delta, as it is done in the developed countries. “As a listening President, who is ready to try other democratic options, Buhari yielded to this piece of advice in line with international practice. Buhari’s decision, therefore, has nothing whatsoever to do with Fayose’s statement. “Fayose has no relevance in national issues and will be best advised to look for another way to achieve his political aspirations.” http://punchng.com/resolve-ekitis-problems-pdp-group-tells-fayose/ |

Hausa, Igbo, Yoruba and all Oda tribes, lets unite to fight DS together... Lets join hands to make Nigeria work again... Shun tribalism and lets speak with one voice... Most politicians are only afta dia pocket, dy Dnt care Abt us? How will sum governors encourage corruption? Kudos to d governor of Edo and Deputy governor of Calabar for NT followin d crowd... Nigeria will b great again |
Governors of the South-South region who met with Vice President Yemi Osinbajo at the State House today called for a majority of the corruption cases in the region to be dropped by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), SaharaReporters has learned. The meeting was attended by Governors of Edo, Ondo, Delta, Akwa Ibom, Rivers, Bayelsa, Abia, as well as the Deputy Governor of Cross River. Our source, who was at the meeting, said that only the Governor of Edo State, Adams Oshiomhole and the deputy Governor of Cross River opposed the others, who singled out the federal government’s anti-corruption initiative as the reason why Niger Delta Avengers are blowing up pipelines in the region. Speaking one after the other, the governors reportedly asked the Federal government to drop charges against former militants accused of corruption. They also want the EFCC to stop investigating the campaign fund scam which has so far revealed how former President Goodluck Jonathan shared funds meant that were meant for combating Boko Haram among his People’s Democratic Party functionaries. Our correspondents also learned that the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, was curiously on the side of the South-South governors who want corruption charges and all forms of corruption investigations against the Niger Delta politicians discontinued. The Governor of Delta, Patrick Okota, reportedly obtained a two-week ceasefire from the Niger Delta Avengers before arriving at the meeting but did not disclose it because he was uncomfortable that the Vice President wasn’t disposed to the idea. SaharaReporters learnt that through his Deputy, Mr. Okowa had extensive meetings with the Niger Delta Avengers, pointing out that it was evident that he and other South South governors knew who the militants were as he spoke at the meeting. The source further stated that if the terms pushed by the South South Governors are fully adopted by the Buhari regime, his anti-corruption fight will die prematurely in all of the South South states. He said that from the tone of the meeting, it was clear that the Niger Delta Avengers and their activities are being funded by politicians in the region with the objective of halting Buhari’s anti-corruption war. A press statement issued at the end of the meeting by the Vice-President’s office indicated that the federal government was represented at the meeting by the Minister of Defense, Rtd. Major General Mohammed Dan Ali; Niger Delta Affairs Minister, Pastor Usani Uguru Usani; and Dr. Kachikwu. Also in attendance were military service chiefs, led by the Chief of Defence Staff, Lt.Gen. Gabriel Olonisakin Source: http://saharareporters.com/2016/06/07/niger-delta-governors-want-corruption-charges-dropped-across-region-stop-pipeline-attacks |

THE Nigerian Navy said it has recorded a major feat in the ongoing military onslaught against Niger Delta militants and pipeline vandals, with the arrest of a militant kingpin who is best described as the coordinator of recent attacks on NNPC and Chevron oil facilities in the region. Briefing journalists while parading the suspects at the Naval Base Warri on Tuesday, Commander, Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) Delta, Commodore Riami Muhammed, said his men also arrested another militant leader who spearheaded last week’s attack on Shell Petroleum Development Company’s 48inch crude pipeline in Forcados. It was gathered that the militants’ coordinator, whose name was not disclosed for security reasons, also illegally operates about 35 abandoned oil well heads and crude oil pipelines in Okpoko and Obodo creeks in Warri South West Local Government Area of the state. Commodore Mohammed said the suspects were arrested in collaboration with other security agencies, saying that the arrest was capable of reducing or ending attacks by the rampaging militants. The elated NNS Delta boss said, “Today, I’m pleased to announce that after several weeks of persistent efforts, the Nigerian navy in collaboration with other security agencies has arrested the main coordinator of the attacks on the NNPC and Chevron oil and gas facilities that we have witnessed since May 4, 2016, with the attack on Chevron Okan Valve platform offshore Escravos. “You are aware of the recent series of attacks on oil and gas facilities in the Niger Delta and in Delta State for which some groups/persons have claimed responsibilities. The Nigerian Navy and other security agencies have been doing their best to curtail these attacks.” He noted that his men were not just after members of the Niger Delta Avengers but everyone suspected to be responsible for the recent attacks on oil facilities in the region. Mohammed said, “It’s important to mention that the suspect is also deeply involved in pipeline vandalism and stealing crude oil. He steals crude oil from about 35 abandoned oil well heads. The Nigerian Navy believes with the arrest of this suspect, the attacks on Chevron/NNPC facilities will abate.” On the arrest of the suspect behind last week attack on 48-inch Forcados crude line, Mohammed said “He has provided useful information that will assist NNS Delta to arrest other culprits.” While commending the Delta State government for her support, he warned criminal elements in the Niger Delta to desist as Nigerian military were very committed towards flushing out their activities from the region. Two of the suspected militant’s kingpins were shaded from journalists for security reasons while several tools and ammunition used for the attacks were displayed.
