Health / Re: Three Die After Consuming Expired Drugs In Kaduna by Abdulyakeen: 3:57pm On Apr 10
I have heard of a similar incidence and if this is the same scenario then this is half the truth.
In this scenario concentrated hard drugs where smuggled in false label so as to be reconstituted to an appropriate non lethal street dose but when the car was confiscated law enforcement officers took the drug to the street unaware of the doses being higher than normal.... Naso people just die like movie.

It doesn't have to be expiry, don't touch what you don't know

It's no more new that university across the country have increase fees despite the dwindling economy and the hardship been faced.

Recently, student in Ahmadu Bello University were thrown in disarray when the university under it's new leadership increase the fees with no prior notice to parents or students.

The rude shock of the current reality is the number of university drop out may continue to increase.

Do you think the government is doing it's best or are we in a time of our history when government contribute to crime?

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Which One Is Better, A 70K Private Job Or A 40K Government Job? by Abdulyakeen: 11:09am On Jun 09, 2021
Robertkenny:
Mrs. Precious

The government job is better even if it pays 40k instead of private job which pays 70k.
I've worked in private sector and can confirm that Nigeria private sector jobs are terrible. For that 70k a private sector company will take 140k worth of work out of you. Most of the times, even though official timings were 9 to 5 Monday to Saturday, I rarely left my office at 5 and most of the days left around 7pm and sometimes even worked on Sundays.
Now I'm in govt job, I arrive at office at 9am and leave at 5pm without any problem.

In private job I was happy with salary initially for 2 -3 months but after that I realised few things:

1. I was getting fat because of only 5 hour sleep and drinking sugary coffee to keep myself awake in office

2. My private job was making me work 2–3 times more than normal and only paying 70k

3. No time with family and the little time I got was used by me to sleep and recover physically than interact with family

4. Since all Saturdays were working I had no time to visit bank or to do any household chores as on Sunday also I needed to take rest and could hardly move a muscle.

5. Everyday I used to curse my job but still had to work and give 100 percent otherwise I would get in the bad books of boss.

6. After 1 year of struggle the private job increased my salary by 5k, and my salary became 75k. But that hardly satisfied me as I realized expectations from me had increased even more. That meant I was given even more work than I could take.

7. Now I'm in govt job which pays me 60k a month plus benefits. And I'm happier. More respect for work done. The public gives a heartfelt thank you when I do work for them. I feel I'm contributing to the nation. I spend more time with family.

Once you have worked in Pvt and govt sector you will realise that govt sector pays more for per hours work done than Pvt Sector.

Thank you Bogger for sharing my story.

Which do you prefer Private or Government Job?

Different strokes for different folks.

Unless you are using the free govt time to do your personal dealings and taking in ďż˝. In my opinion stick to the private job, learn few skills port to the next higher paying private job.

Don't grow old and weight for pension that one "idiot" will steal. Its better to enjoy when your taste buds ďż˝ are still functional than when you can't separate fish ďż˝ from chickenďż˝.

What is your wife’s NOC? Then you can look into PNP from Ontario and New Brunswick.
How many years work experience does she ?
What’s her highest degree? Age?
If you use the CRS calculator, she might just be eligible as PA for FSW.

Education / Re: The Craziest Thing A Student Had Ever Told You As A Teacher? by Abdulyakeen: 3:53pm On May 02, 2021
A student ones said "my pocket money weekly is more than your monthly salary"

Life of a teacher

soundOsonic:
Guys taking up the mantle of teaching is crazy, there are fun aspects of being a teacher and there are also the well not fun aspect of teaching. In this line of occupation you meet strange kids, I will be sharing the craziest thing a student said to me as a Teacher.

Well as a Teacher teaching mathematics, my favorite class just happen to be the SS1 class being that they are the less noisy and very easy to manage. The other SSS classes seemed to be rogue to young teachers like myself.

There was a day, I was teaching them and I am the kind of guy that adds humor to my teaching and tease both the boys and girls, but there was this particular boy that skips school like as if he is a part timer. I rarely see him, I don't really know him, I don't even know about his performance and even how to tease him.

So I asked for my assignment as that is the manner of things before introducing the topic for the day and this boy didn't do it.
Now this is an opportunity to know him, funny enough you know the kind of person a student is after you flog him or her just by watching their countenance.

Some wear expression of remorse, anger, fear, extreme sadness while very few just appear to be indifferent.
I took the long skinny cane and added a smirk to my face and notice this slender boy was sweating like he just went for a dive in otamiri river somewhere in imo state.

I held my peace and asked if anything was wrong, he answered nothing. I asked " why are you sweating" the whole class started laughing, and they chorused "he just like sweating".

Well I have never seen anybody whose hubby is sweating.

I smiled and then reduced his corporal punishment to just 3 stroke the initial smacking suppose to be 6 and I gave him some good smacking.
I later met him and asked why he rarely comes to school, his reply was "my mummy just like when I am home with her'"
It just sounded crazy to me, maybe I was expecting a reasonable answer but in actuality he was telling the truth. It was that day I knew some parent just let their kids decide any time they wish to go to school. Well he made a bad decision of coming to school that day sha, that's because he got some good flogging.

Good day nairalanders,

Someone close to me is in a state of dilemma and needs advise.

He has been a contract staff in one of the leading commercial banks in Nigeria and was recently converted into a full staff. The issue now is he has been deployed from South West to extreme North (Maiduguri). He has tried every means to get redeployed but all efforts proved abortive.

Considering the fasting rise of unemployment in the country, he feels it's unwise to reject the offer. Still, he's in a state of dilemma.

Should he take the job offer, even though national security is at the lowest there?

Please advise.

Please feel free to reach out if you have any contact that can help, I'll be in the comment section.

Politics / Re: Ahmed Wase: Nigerians Abroad Threaten To Withhold $23b Remittance by Abdulyakeen: 1:23pm On Mar 16, 2021
Redcrafton:

The problem with you is that you reside in Dutse with poor internet and brags about knowing what happens everywhere.

The other day you were shown pictures of Onitsha and you said the picture wasn't a city in Nigeria.

It is better to read comments and learn from people who are more enlightened than you, than brag in gross ignorance.

The World Bank estimates that Nigeria’s annual remittances in 2020 were US$21 billion in 2020, down from $23.8 billion in 2019.
https://africacheck.org/fact-checks/reports/how-many-nigerians-abroad-and-how-much-cash-do-they-send-home

Thanks for sharing... A lot of people don't know what diaspora remittance means... I think a post on that will do due diligence. Nigerian everywhere in the world should have a voice on things that pertains to our common existence. We all contribute to its growth.
