The Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board has said no date has been fixed for registration for the 2021 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.

JAMB advised the public to disregard a fake Twitter account that announced information on the registration date for the examination.

“IMPORTANT NOTICE TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC. This is to inform the general public that no date has been fixed for 2021 UTME registration. Kindly disregard any tweet from a fake account that stated otherwise. The general public will be duly informed when the date is fixed. Thank you,” the examination board said.

Meanwhile, JAMB, on Sunday, said that all admissions in the nation’s tertiary institutions for the 2020/2021 academic session would end by June 15, 2021.

This was contained in a statement issued by the spokesperson for JAMB, Dr Fabian Benjamin, which reveals that the decision was collectively taken at a virtual meeting with heads of tertiary institutions in the country on Wednesday, February 24 2021.

“After a robust and insightful deliberation, members collectively agreed that all public universities are expected to finish their admissions on or before May 15, 2021, while the private Universities and all IEIs, Polytechnics and COEs would complete theirs at the agreed date of June 15, 2021,” Benjamin said.

The Kwara Government has warned principals in public schools not to extort students during the registration of the upcoming West Africa Examination Council (WAEC) examination.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development, Mrs Kemi Adeosun, gave the warning at a meeting with principals and stakeholders in the education sector of the state.

She said it has come to the notice of the government that some schools are in the habit of charging more than the approved charges for the WAEC examination.

”Henceforth, any principal found wanting will be dealt with in accordance with the Civil Service rules,” Mrs Adeosun warned.

The permanent secretary further charged principals to continue to support the present administration in its efforts to revamp the education sector in the state.

She reminded the principals and private school owners that COVID-19 is still in our midst and whoever is found violating the safety rules would be sanctioned.

The President, All Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPSS) in the state, Alhaji Toyin Abdullahi, commended the state government efforts in educational development, most especially, the eradication of examination malpractices.

He renewed the support of the body to the present administration in its bid to take the state to greater heights.
