Siga: .... Have u tried it out? Besides... where u wan see employer wey go allow u work just 3hrs a day? Depending on your program... Have u factor in group assignments... projects... or u think your group members will wait for you to finish work ? Think hard my people... It depends on your program of choice... During my time I worked full time and school but I got lucky as my group is filled with friends that got my back anytime... lucky me... Go work factory and tell me how u feel after...
I worked and studied in the UK and besides, i saw school vacancy which is a call centre and it offers 3 hours daily on rotation. I am saying what i know.

emperoracro: @Oga Chrigo n Amefrica, how possible is it to work n study in Brandon, Manitoba. Is it possible to meet up?
It is very possible to work and study and still come out tops in your academics. You first have to make sure the type of job you get will not be too tasking so it doesnt affect you too much. for instance, if you work 3 hours a day, 6 days a week, thats 18 hours. I am sure working 3 hours a day wont be that tideous right? so please dont rule out the possibility. some even work weekends only and have weekdays to themselves so not so bad huh?

I had to cut my post to make it readable. On cheaper accomodations, you could make it work; rather than book a school accomodation, try living off campus. you could read so many PDFs on new comers into your province of choice and see how you can adapt and the things you need to do. Canada has now changed immigration laws to be more condusive for international students so you can ow work 20hrs school term and full time during holidays - same as UK now.
If coming back home, Nigeria cares about the name of the school like; Havard, MIT, Cambridge etc. there are cheap schools in CA too; MUN for instance although you might wanna attend a school in a province that has more job opportunities. U of A for instance is one of the top 5 unis and yet graduates pay like 10,000CAD per session, way cheaper than UK.
On internship, I have no idea on that one although i know there are somany coop available in Canada.

I hope this helps.

cheers

Hi,

I saw this post and felt your worry and want to add my personal experience having lived and studied in the UK before.
I loved it in the UK even though it was a bit cold compared to what i was used to but there are so many Nigerians there that you would immediately feel right at home. plus you could buy agege bread, plantain and what not. But, note that there are mostly blue colar jobs available. I graduated with very good grades and didnt bother to apply for post study because i thought there would be windows of opportunity available to me upon my return.

I did get a good job here in Nigeria but not as much as my grade deserved. There are now so many "prodigal sons" that have returned to Nigeria now. Most Nigerians who finished schools in the UK and couldnt renew their papers are back home looking for jobs so the return on foreign education is not as beneficial as people feel. for instance, at my place of work, apart from myself, I have two colleagues with foreign degrees and their payis not commensurate with their skills.
I considered Canada for my masters cos of the opportunity of getting a paper. if not for me, atleast for my kids in the future, we all know the benefits of holding one.
I love UK alot trust me, you would feel like you are back home but where the system atleast works and i know that Canada is way colder but the end will justify the means. I think the end is what matters, all the inbetweeners are just that - inbetween. Each country has its own challenges so just brace yourself up and make a decision.

I am now on the verge of leaving for my masters program (in Canada) but this time, i hope to stay alittle longer. there are negatives yes! but my eyes are on the prize. while having a prior experience in a developed country might pave way for me, I am just prepared to withstand whatever challenge might come. So should you.

uceebee: Okay... So I just got called for medicals!
Applied 30th May, Online route.

Please house, which of those clinics is most preferred (fast and efficient)?

Thanks!
Congrats! I did my medicals in Children practice and i loved it. I had googled Asaju and read posts where their services was condemned and thought i would rather be safe than hasty. I am glad i chose Children practice, all my medical requirement was done under one single roof and it felt safe, convenient and neat plus i got my visa in exactly two weeks after medicals which means no delays. pls note that in Asaju, you have to do the chest x-ray else where.
whatever you decide, all the best.
cheers

Holu26: I have nigeria ecowas passport which I believe can be use to get entry to Ghana as a tourist. Plz is it not possible that way?

But what if I decide to reside in Ghana for the duration of the visa application processing time, will that work?
Hi,
Pls hang on a minute, applications are still being processed in Ghana or has it stopped? The people who still applied last month had their application processed in Ghana so pls confirm first if you wanna go the paper route. I know there were speculations that applications are now processed in Nigeria but i dont think it has started altogether. But then again, there is always online route too.

Hassan0007: Hi did u get a positive answer from them all d best, bro am worried i did not include my waec result hope it doesn't affect my visa d skool am apply to is saskatchewan institute of applied science and technology (SIAST)
Hi,

I guess this means you already got your admission and you are waiting for your visa? If that is the case, its funny you can never be sure what these VOs expect. when i got my documents back, nothing was out of place, nothing was taken, nothing was ruled. It was just as if someone thought " oh well, I should just grant her already and make her dance in circles". Although the instruction actually said submit all results and transcripts but pray it through, after all is said and done, God's favour is what seals it!!

akosh005: Hi Hassan0007, mine is 4th June. Paper route. Be rest assured our medical call up is coming soon. Oti de tan
Hi,
You guys should take a chill pill. Applications processed in Ghana takes five weeks so once you have counted your five weeks, you can start expecting but since it is now a peak period, i would suggest you add another week or two before you start expecting. Mine came in a monday after my 6th week wait and that was as far back as June. All the best.
