tnuola: I think it is necessary. Some loopholes might be from your brother's documents as well. I used a company account during my time and i know i submitted loads of company documents including tax receipts! all the best in the next one! |

tnuola: Hi tnuola, so sorry about the delay. I know Chrigo once listed necessary documents for companies. If you can find it, it might be helpful. Did you submit your brother's tax returns too? 1 Like |

brickfield1: Hi, i honestly don't think the study leave is necessary. My reason is that it is a trial, a what if. I do not think the VO would expect you to put your self at risk cos if you don't get the visa, the company already knows you are planning to leave them. what my friend did was to tell HR that she was going for a holiday and got the necessary letters for visa for someone going on holiday and she applied with that and got her visa although she also had a spouse in Nigeria which she left behind so i guess that made her case more solid. As per your course, I hope someone else helps you out here. hope you have a sponsor? |

amen1967: As far as I know, UK makes you pay per semester at least and gives you a deadline to make each semester's fee. In my school, it is the same. But i think there is less pressure on school fees if you miss the deadline. However, my school adds a monthly interest rate on the school fees if you do not pay. It might be different for some other schools. 1 Like |

Fablady: I mean you continue to do both and whichever comes first. If you get preggo before admission, when you do get admitted, you could just write your professor and tell the person you might not be able to make 2015 and stuffs like that and see how God works in your favor. hopefully you have more than one admission and can defer at least one out of the many. 1 Like |

amen1967: I thought people already answered you. You don't need to apply for your family separately BUT it is safer to apply for them later to enhance your chance of being given. You need to have at least a year's tuition and living cost and some extra. No you don't need to have all 4 years tuition but you need to show where the other yearly tuition will be coming from - in other words, hope you have a sponsor. Having international certificate might help your own visa application but does little to convince your returning if you and your entire family are leaving at once. From being here, i noticed there are resources available to students to help them bring their families down, for instance you could go to your local MPs and they could assist you. It is safer to first get your own visa first and then invite them over later. Its just my opinion, i don't have all the answers, can only respond to the best of my knowledge. 1 Like 1 Share |

Fablady: I am never one to assume like I know all the answers but based on my reasoning and by putting the VO in your shoes, I do not think it is advisable to grant visa to someone pregnant. If i were VO, i know i would deny you cos pregnancy is stressful enough without combining studies. You can wait by choice to have your child first, infact that gives you a stronger home tie and bringing them here is not an issue. in my case, my husband and I wanted to wait but when i didnt get admission, we quickly redefined and i got preggo immediately we redefined, you could say I was blessed but for some, you can never predict the time your baby will come. If i were to advice, I will say don't delay having kids for Phd, if you get prego, you should be able to defer but if its funded, that might be another story. Don't put off having kids, enjoy your home and leave it all to God's hands, waiting a year before applying won't stop you from reaching your goal, it just makes you a mum who loves her unborn child more than life achievement! 1 Like |

Fablady: Lol. So here is an opinion from a married woman with a child. Get your visa first and then you can be prego if you wish. I actually heard that its better to have your kids while studying, lol. I however know someone though whose supervisor didn't want her to be prego cos she feels it might disturb her work and I know another who had her child during Phd but for visa purpose, please dont get pregnant yet. VO might feel that's the reason for leaving, rather than studies. in my case i deferred my studies for a year and had my baby first. |

TONYE001: Hi, I quite understand your pain, I had to leave my baby at 7months and my husband too. in fact here, I found some people like myself and we gained strength by supporting each other and carrying each other along as we individually try to bring them here. That said, I know a few who successfully went with their spouses on first attempt but the deal is you have to convince beyond reasonable doubt that you would come back after completing your studies. Alot of us chose to use our spouses and in some cases kids as our home tie. so do you have what it takes to convince the VO? landed properties count and so does other assets. - my 2 cents! 1 Like |

Nabylet: Hi, I read your comments and wanted to offer my two cents. Why not go for a masters straight? The thing is, if you want to do MA Economics (which is what I am studying), If you meet GPA requirements, you can be admitted for a Pre-masters or what Alberta calls Qualifying year which is basically like doing a 4th year undergrad before proceeding into your masters proper. Saves you time and better enhances your chance. Regarding schools, I applied into 4 schools and all 4 had Qualifying year. Here are the schools for guidelines: 1. University of Alberta 2. Guelph university (Ontario) 3. Memorial University 4. University of Manitoba. Like I said, most schools have Qualifying year which is basically for students who wish to do a masters in Economics but had a different undergrad degree so read their MA requirement and just opt for that instead. All the best! 3 Likes |

Jijola: Congrats, and you're right about the new law! The difference between pre-June 1 and post-June 1 applicants is just the application for work permit, otherwise called authorisation. For those that applied before June 1, they have to apply for authorisation, and then later for the SIN. For those that apply on or after June 1, they are automatically authorised once TRV is issued, so they only apply for the SIN when they land Canny. Peeps can read the law on the CIC website. What questions and/or documents did they ask you at the POE? Thanks alot for clearing this. nothing really was asked except my letter of intro and i brought it out, the lady didnt even spend 5mins with me. no hassle at all, maybe cos the monday was a holiday. |

mtxatx: Hi, that I am not sure of although CIC did use the word "apply", which should mean date you applied. I landed in August and that was the date my study permit carried but TRV was issued in May so i still got the old restriction. Obviously, you get to apply for authorisation immediately but turn around time to receive the authorisation is 3 weeks, thats what i was told. After authorisation, you can then apply for SIN card. |

Look guys, a brazillian guy walked into the international office with me yesterday, on his permit, it was written that he could work 20 hours, on mine, in the remark section, nothing was written, just a code so the international office said I had to apply for authorization from cic which will take 3 weeks. I was confused cos of the new rule and I was told that if I had applied for visa before june 1, the old rule would apply but if I apply after june 1, it would be like the brazillian guy. so if you applied after june 1, all you will need is to get your SIN card but if before, you need the authorization to apply for SIN. If you feel I am wrong, ask your UNI abeg, that's what Uni of Alberta told me. I am not mis informing anyone on here. lets all get the info right before attacking anyone joor 2 Likes |

ChriGo: .....Nice to know you're in Canada....You make me laugh @bolded....Nobody needs to apply for work permit.....the only thing peeps need to do is get the SIN(Social Insurance Number)....Lobatan....And to do that, you only need to fill out this link https://dmp-portal.cic.gc.ca/enquiries-renseignements/canada-case-cas-eng.aspx .....No dey scare peeps Ojare ....You just dey Land so calm down biko.....after filling the form in that link, CIC will get back to you within 30 days with an attachment form stating you're Eligible to work off campus....Just take that letter to Service Canada nearest to you and your SIN number will be issued Instantly.....Lobatan.....This applies to EVERYONE either you're here before June or after June.....So there is no GOBE anywhere......No mis information anywhere, I stated what I was told by the international office. you apply for authorization which takes 3weeks. whoever needs more info, let them ask their uni abeg, maybe mine are not as conversant as you - who knows? |

i have been trying hard all day to post a message on here to no avail. How una dey? I landed safe in Edmonton yesterday to the glory of God. To those who applied for visa before June 1, na gobe o, you will have to apply for your work permit on CIC website even if you land Canada after June 1. This was my case, I saw the restriction on my study permit and the remark didnt say i could work twenty hours off campus. I saw another who applied June 4 and though the restrictions were same as mine, it was written that he could work twenty hours. there really was no hassle at Toronto immigration where i got my study permit, the letter of introduction was not even all that important cos the immigration lady said to a guy beside me "if you dont have anything with you, its fine, we have everything in the system". Luftansa Air is really nice but, air Canada did feel like an "air bus" lol. my Nokia X did not work, shame cos i bought it newly. don't know what else to say but, its still summer, thank God and i don't want to think of winter just yet. regards peeps and be safe 7 Likes |

conyema12: Hey guys, I got admitted into Univ of Alberta for Msc programme in Integrated Petroleum Geosciences for this Fall. But I don't think I will make it, the reason being that I currently do not have enough money to embark on the project. Aww! heading that way, would have loved to meet someone right from Nigeria. I got a mail from school stating that you should notify them of deferal by September and that you can defer for a year only i.e fall 2014 to fall 2015 - departments might defer but i think the rules should generally be thesame. |

ChriGo: ....Hmmm!!!!....Shines teeth @bolded .....I worked at Amazon in the UK during my undergrad, it was tough, i was on weekend shift only and weekdays I stayed overnight sometimes in the Library to catch up with assignments. it is tideous, yes but not impossible and I did come out tops in my class. I am not saying it is easy, all i am saying is it is possible. I checked some school vacancies in Canada and they had a call centre that runs 3 hour shifts after classes so I am saying what i researched. 4 Likes |
