I would have expected people to await his response to know if there's a way we could get past the location barrier. If we probably can't then I could decide to throw it open. You definitely can't even take half of whatever action your buyer is putting up with. He was rude to you and your wife, sorry about that. But the fact is, he sent you that money and it really saved your day when you needed it the most. The least you could do is to reach out to those volunteers and get the promised 3k to cover the delivery cost... If you need helping hands, probably the 3k can't cover the cost, then reach out to him to spare a little sum. But saying he should come to Lagos to pick an item of 15k no just add up. At all.
