PoliticsBuhari Fires Aso Rock CSO For Challenging His ADC - Naijafire.com by AbuadStudent(op): 10:09pm On Jul 09, 2015
President Muhammadu Buhari has fired his Chief Security Officer, Mr. Abdulrahman Mani, for engaging in a supremacy battle with the Aide-de-Camp to the President, Lt.-Col. Lawal Abubakar.
It was learnt that his redeployment was one of the sweeping changes being carried out by the new Director-General of the Department of State Service, Mr. Lawan Daura, on the order of the President.

Buhari had appointed Daura to replace Mr. Ita Ekpeyong during the week at the peak of the crisis between the DSS and the military especially as it concerns the President’s protection.

It would be recalled that Abubakar had earlier issued a memo redeploying DSS officials from 10 beats that they had hitherto been manning inside the Presidential Villa.

He had explained that the decision to strip the DSS officials of their traditional roles was part of efforts to enhance general security within the villa.

But in a rejoinder dated June 26, the former CSO directed the DSS officials to disregard the ADC’s order. Mani had argued that the duties being performed by DSS personnel in the Presidential Villa are backed by relevant statues and gazetted instruments.

PUNCH learnt that Mani was redeployed to Ebonyi had since been replaced with Bashir Abubakar.

Abubakar was until his new appointment, an Assistant Director in Bayelsa State Command of the DSS.

Also affected in the shake-up, it was learnt, is the Administrative Officer in the Presidential Villa Widi Liman. The AO who was earlier appointed by Buhari was said to have been redeployed to the Oyo State Command of the service.

“The new DG is putting things right. More decisions may follow,” a source said.

PoliticsFani Kayode Supports Boko Haram because We Rejected Jonathan? by AbuadStudent(op): 4:42pm On Jul 09, 2015
Some media are reporting that Femi Fani-Kayode is relishing in Boko Haram’s attack because Nigerians had rejected Goodluck Jonathan at the polls. But he said he did not. Read the report below:

After Rejecting Jonathan, Nigerians Deserve Boko Haram Bombings – Fani-Kayode
A former Minister of Aviation, and spokesperson of Goodluck Jonathan’s campaign organization, Femi Fani-Kayode, has said that Nigerians asked for the recent upsurge in Boko Haram attacks by refusing to renew Jonathan’s mandate, instead voting in Muhammadu Buhari as president.

Mr. Fani-Kayode said Mr. Buhari had always been sympathetic to Boko Haram.
His words: “Anyone that honestly believed that a man who secretly shares the same vision and core principles of Boko Haram and who spent many years defending them can do anything but give them a free hand when he comes to power is living in cuckoo land.”
The remark was posted on Monday on Facebook, but was deleted before being re-posted on Tuesday.

Nigeria has in the last two weeks witnessed an escalation of Boko Haram’s bloody campaign, with several suicide bomb and gun attacks targeting places of worship, communities and public places, killing hundreds of people.
The latest attack occurred early Tuesday at a local government office in Zaria, Kaduna State.

Twenty-five people were killed when a suspected suicide bomber detonated an explosive where civil servants had gathered for data verification in the Sabon Gari area of Zaria.

About 400 Nigerians are estimated to have been killed by the sect in the last five weeks.

Mr. Fani-Kayode, who recently changed his name to Femi Olukayode, in celebration of his court victory in a corruption case, said he was not surprised with the recent bombings and killings.

“I am not surprised by the resurgence of Boko Haram and their new-found barbarity, courage and zeal,” he said.

He also said the cause of the Boko Haram sect may have been aided by the removal of military checkpoints in towns and along highways.

He said the Nigerian government is also transferring Boko Haram suspects to Prisons in the eastern part of the country in order to ”spread the word” adding that no less than 182 Boko Haram suspects were released on the president’s orders just a few days ago.

“Is all this just a coincidence or is something that is dark and sinister now afoot in our country? “

“Whatever each of us may or may not believe, one thing is clear- that Boko Haram now have powerful friends and secret allies right at the epicenter of power and those friends and allies are running the affairs of the country,” he said.

Mr. Fani-Kayode said there is a much wider picture unfolding which the Nigerian people have yet to see and which they find difficult to accept, understand or comprehend.

“There is a hideous and frightful hidden agenda which is slowly manifesting before our very eyes. Though we warned them, the Nigerian people wanted ‘change’ so they must live with the consequences of their choice,” he said.

He also said one of those consequences is the new-found “audacity, courage, growing power and rising strength of Boko Haram”, while another is the “resurgence of a clearly ethnic agenda which is designed to leave no-one in doubt about who really owns Nigeria and who the slaves are”.

He said, yet another is the destruction and demystification of a national leader of the APC, Bola Tinubu, and his “Yoruba loyalists by his erstwhile northern allies in the APC”.

“Only a fool did not see that one coming and I am rather surprised that Tinubu’s followers are now crying foul and alleging that there is a northern conspiracy. Didn’t they know that before? Were they not warned over and over again?

“There are many other grave consequences which the Nigerian people will witness, in a most harrowing and frightful manner, in the next few months and years.

“May God deliver our people and our nation and may we learn to make the right choices,” he said.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has arrested the former Governor of Jigawa State, Alhaji Sule Lamido, for alleged money laundering-related offences.
Investigations revealed that operatives of the anti-graft agency picked up the former governor and his two sons, Mustapha and Aminu in the early hours of Tuesday in Abuja.

It was learnt that the EFCC leadership ordered a crack team of detectives to fly them to Kano by 2.30 pm to prepare them for their arraignment for alleged fraud that amount to billions of naira.

The source said,
“The former Governor of Jigawa State, Alhaji Sule Lamido, and his two sons, Mustapha and Aminu, were arrested this morning by operatives of the commission.

The EFCC had arrested the two sons of the governor in November 2014, over alleged misappropriation of billions of naira belonging to the Jigawa State Government.

PoliticsEkweremadu Faces Interrogation Over Forgery Of Senate Rules by AbuadStudent(op): 9:29am On Jul 08, 2015
The Nigeria Police Force has invited Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu, to appear at Police Force Headquarters on Monday following his alleged involvement in forging the Senate rules.

But his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has raised an alarm over the invitation, alleging that some members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) were plotting to force him out of office and replace him with another senator from the ruling APC.
On its part, the APC said: “Forgery is a crime that is regularly investigated by the police, and it beggars belief that such investigation will now be interpreted to mean that Nigeria is descending into dictatorship or that democracy and the enjoyment of personal freedoms are now endangered. These claims by the scaremongering PDP are farfetched and preposterous.”

The national publicity secretary of PDP, Olisa Metuh, had said the move would lead to a vacuum in the Senate and the imposition of an APC preferred senator to take over Ekweremadu’s position.

PoliticsWhat Happened In House Of Reps Shows Democracy Has Come To Stay – Lawmaker by AbuadStudent(op): 9:25am On Jul 05, 2015
A member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Abdulrazak Sa’ad Namdas has reacted to speculations that the All Progressives Congress (APC) lacks the capacity to govern the country.

Speaking with newsmen, Sa’ad Namdas dismissed these speculations, saying the APC has all it takes to lead Nigeria to the promise land where every Nigerian irrespective of the tribe of religion would have a sense of belonging, Leadership reports.

According to Sa’ad Namdas, one good thing about the APC was the way it conducted their party primaries where delegates were allowed to choose candidates of their choice.

The lawmaker representing Toungo/Ganye/Jada/Mayo Belwa Federal Constituency of Adamawa State said unlike during the era of the PDP, no candidate was imposed on the people against their wish.

PoliticsHOT !!! Why President Buhari, APC Leaders Fail To Resolve Crisis by AbuadStudent(op): 4:12pm On Jul 04, 2015
President Muhammadu Buhari, other leaders of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) failed to find the resolution to crisis that rocking the party over the National Assembly leadership.

The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the APC, which met in Abuja on July 3, had mandated the party’s 22 governors to meet with the Senate President and the Speaker of the House of Representatives in an attempt to resolve the difference between the party’s contestant groups.

The Rochas Okorocha-led PGF met for the first time with conflict party members in the National Assembly in Abuja on Friday.

The NASS leadership alongside with Senator Ahmed Lawan and Femi Gbajabiamila, APC’s favored candidates for the positions of the Senate President and Speaker respectively, attended the meeting.

The peace moves of the governors was unsuccessful because the opposite groups could not accept the peace offers of some APC leaders as of the time the meeting was postponed till July (today).

It was gathered that the governors had told the party’s leadership that the crisis should be left for them to resolve.

The NASS official said that on the request of the party’s governors, the NEC did not bother to discuss the issue at its meeting on Friday.

He said: “The crisis on the sharing of leadership seats at the National Assembly did not receive any frontal attention at the NEC against expectations. What happened was that, on the request of the governors, the issue was referred to them to discuss and resolve.”

Analyses showed that the governors and the APC legislators at their meeting discussed proposals by some party leaders on ways to end the crisis.

The proposals comprised a plan that those who lost out in the contest for the National Assembly leadership should be permitted to chair their desirable committees.

“Also under consideration is another proposal to ask Dogara and (...)

PoliticsNEW !!! APC Finally Reveals Date For Release Of Ministerial List by AbuadStudent(op): 9:37pm On Jul 03, 2015
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has applauded Nigerians for their patience over the delay in the appointments of ministers, saying the list would be released in few days.

Muhammadu Buhari

National publicity secretary of the party, Alh Lai Mohammed said this while speaking with journalists in Oro, Ifelodun local government area of kwara state on Thursday at his annual 9th Ramadan lecture.

He also admitted that the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari would have performed better had the ministerial appointments been made before now.

Lai Mohammed however explained that the delay was basically caused by the transference ‎of government from one political party to the other.

‎According to him, “The concern of Nigerians over the delay in the release of ministerial appointments is genuine. But the fact is that this is the first time in the history of Nigeria that the opposition party will take over government from the ruling party.”

“Our plan was to interface and interact with the outgoing government, but it didn’t just work out so party set up transition committee which later presented 800 pages hand over documents to mister president”

“So, in this kind of situation we found ourselves, we have to be thorough in making appointments ‎because Nigerians expectations are very high and it’s understandable. So, in a couple of days the ministerial cabinet list would be made available and it would be a thing of the past”

He added “We might be slow, but in reality when we make the right appointments, we wil(...)
