I’m going tell you things you must know before travelling down to avoid been extorted. The screening exercise commences on Monday, 7th January 2019 at the convocation ground, Samaru (Main campus) 9am daily (direction : Come in through the main gate, walk/drive straight down till you see a round about, make a right turn and you’ll see a basket ball court sitting on the left side of the road, the venue is sitting right behind the court). When you get into the square, don’t just join any queue, ask for you faculty and then department as the admission letter would be issued by faculty then department. Documents to come along with (Original and 5 photocopies each) 1. Primary School Leaving Certificate/Testimonial. 2. O’level result (Try getting the original copy from the examination body), come along with scratch card. 3. Secondary School Leaving Certificate/Testimonial. 4. Birth Certificate. 5. Original Jamb Result. 6. A new beans (cowpea) variety developed by researchers at the Institute of Agricultural Research (IAR), Zaria in conjunction with their counterparts working with the African Agricultural Technology Foundation (AATF) is to save Nigerian farmers about N4.8 billion annually. This was revealed recently by Professor Mohammed Ishiyaku, the Principal Investigator of the pod-borer (Maruca) resistant cowpea project in Talata Mafara, Zamfara State, one of the three trial sites in the country. “In severe cases, the insect pest causes about 80% yield loss to harvests. For several years, we can only lament using insecticides which cannot withstand maruca, so the best approach is genetic improvement,” the lead researcher disclosed. He said apart from monetary gains, other expected benefits of using the genetically modified pod-borer resistant cowpea include: 20% increase in yield, reduction of spray from eight times to two, better health and environment for farmers and end users.
