VP adds: Vote for the right person to lead this country into a better future

Says, I’ve been prepared in the most profound ways, I’ll be ready from day one

“You cannot wish the country well and vote for someone you do not believe in,” according to Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, SAN.

The Vice President stated this on Tuesday night in a rousing speech where he spoke of a new Nigeria of great possibilities and prosperity.

Prof. Osinbajo spoke ahead of the voting by delegates at the ongoing All Progressives Congress (APC) Special Convention for its Presidential Primary holding at the Eagles Square in Abuja.

As he made his way to the podium, the crowd at the Convention ground, especially those close to the podium, gave the VP a rousing welcome that lasted for several minutes, with some chanting excitedly, “it is you we want (as president)!” The same scene repeated itself after the VP concluded his speech and made his way through the aisle back to his seat.

According to the Vice President, “Nigeria has the talents, resources and the resourcefulness to become one of the world’s leading economies.”

“Everything we can imagine or dream is within our reach. All that is left is for us to make the right decision tonight,” he stated.

The VP added, “to our dear delegates, when you vote tonight, know that your vote carries the answer to your prayers for our country and its future.

“I have been prepared in the most profound ways for the task ahead, and I will be ready from day one.”

Prof. Osinbajo is one of the leading Presidential aspirants of the APC. The ruling party will at the Convention elect its flagbearer for the 2023 presidential elections.

The VP spoke just before President Muhammadu Buhari delivered his speech.

Politics / Tinubu Right Candidate For Nigeria Says DG. BAT/SKS Alh. Najeem Yasin by Abuhamdalat1: 2:56pm On Sep 08, 2022
DG, BSO Group has declared that the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu, was the best person to change the fortune of Nigeria for the better.

The group, under the auspices of BSO, described Tinubu as the last opportunity for the Yoruba race and Nigeria to get it right.

The Director General, Alh. Najeem Usman Yasin, stated this in a statement issued after a meeting with executives of the support group in Abuja on Monday.

According to him, Tinubu has answers to the spate of insecurity and economic woes into which Nigeria had been plunged into.

Alh. Yasin, said, “Tinubu is the last man standing, to bail the country out of its predicaments.
am pleading with the entire country take advantage of the opportunity being availed it, by voting massively for Tinubu, as he is the only one that can break the circle of poverty, embezzlement and Insecurity.”

The group’s chairman said Tinubu needed to become the president come 2023, not because of what he (Tinubu) could gain, but because of what he could do for Nigeria.

Alh. Yasin appealed to the Christian Association of Nigeria and other interest groups aggrieved by the Muslim -Muslim ticket and by the choice of Kashim Shettima as running mate, to sheath their swords, as the decision was not to undermine anyone or group, but a winning strategy.

He also urged all executives and members of the group to swing into action and map out a strategy to ensure Tinubu wins with a landslide victory.

Islam for Muslims / Islamic Cleric: Those Making Issue Of Wearing Shoes Inside Mosque Ignorant by Abuhamdalat1: 10:40am On Jan 20, 2022
*It is not forbidden, he says after VP, Kano Gov, Plateau Gov seen wearing shoes inside mosque

A popular Muslim scholar, Sheikh Musa Yusuf Asadus-Sunnah has described as ignorant, few comments online condemning people who wore shoes while inside a Mosque in Kano yesterday when the Vice President, Prof Osinbajo, the Kano State Governor, the Plateau State Governor and the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy paid a condolence visit to Tudun Yola Quarters Mosque to commiserate with Muslim faithfuls on the loss of renowned Imam, Sheikh Ahmad Bamba Buk.

The condemnation of the VP and other dignitaries comes on the back of a picture circulating on social media which shows the dignitaries wearing shoes inside the mosque. However, Sheikh Asadus-Sunnah says the criticisms by a few persons on social media was based on ignorance and poor understanding of the holy books.

The Vice President who was in Kano for the Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation Lecture, paid several condolence visits; one was to the family of the late Dr Bashir Tofa and another to the family of the late community leader, Alhaji Hassan Naif.

At the Tudun Yola Quarters Mosque, the residence of the Islamic scholar, late Sheikh Ahmad Bamba BUK, Prof Osinbajo prayed for the deceased family, and praised the late Sheik’s teachings, noting that his teachings were of peace, brotherliness, fairness and justice, describing him as one of the best known Sunni scholars in the world.

Sheikh Asadus-Sunnah stated that, “first, on the issue of the VP not clean to enter the mosque. That is not true. It is important for people to know what uncleanness (Najasa) means before saying the VP is unclean.”

“On the issue that he entered the mosque with his shoes on, who told them that entering a mosque with shoes is Haram (forbidden)? Especially when the shoes are certainly pure,” the cleric queried.

He went on to say that “it is certain that the VP didn't enter the mosque with his bathroom slippers. It is established that all the places he visited are clean and there is no way he could have stepped on uncleanness and entered the mosque with it.”

The Sheikh also addressed those attacking the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Sheikh Isa Pantami, that he should be criticized “based on facts and not emotions. You people that criticize him didn't do it based on knowledge but based on your ignorance.”

A large number of social media users expressed their opinion on the matter. For Umar Abba, he is of the opinion that “with my little knowledge in Islam, I think this is not a big issue. What we should ask is whether the shoes he is wearing are purified or not? If his shoes are clean enough and he didn't match any unpurified things, I think there is no cause for alarm. WALLAHU'AALAM.”

Making reference to a similar situation in the past, Alhaji Abu Hamdalat said, “it is not forbidden to enter the mosque with shoes so far it's pure from najasa. When General Gowon came to Sultan Sultan Bello Mosque and entered with his shoes, Late Sheikh Abubakar Gumi came to his defense that since the shoe is pure, there is no harm. That he Gowon is not "pure" but his shoes are,” he explained.

Fawaz Zakari Bello noted that other persons who went on the visit with the VP ought to have alerted him on what to do.

His words: “Why are we not shining the touch light on the hypocrite sitting around him who are Muslim & should know better. Are they playing to the gallery or worshipping leadership as against the norms of their religion? The laugh is on the people around him.”

Few people on Facebook and Twitter have conveyed their dissatisfaction at seeing the photo of the VP, criticizing his action, calling it “haram”.

Even though a cursory look at past photos of the VP’s visits to mosques on numerous occasions showed he removed his shoes without fail, indicating that the Kano incident was a one-time oversight.

Politics / Reno Omokri, The Commander-in-chief Of Misinformation — Olalekan Adigun by Abuhamdalat1: 8:42am On Apr 15, 2021
By Olalekan Adigun, a Public Affairs Analyst
Reno Omokri, a former social media aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, needs no introduction in the socio-political space in Nigeria, especially on social media where he misinforms his over 900,000 Twitter followers, over 120,000 Facebook followers and his over 500,000 Instagram followers.

The self acclaimed-pastor and member of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, is the leading errand boy of all opposition politicians on social media, as he attacks the All Progressives Congress government of the day simply because of one sin: ejecting the Jonathan government out of office in a keenly contested and won poll in 2015.

Omokri, who has been severely identified as a paid social media troll, has, over time been synonymous with the spread of Fake News against the President Muhammadu Buhari government.

Reno’s paying-job after office is not known till date except being a troll, yet he flies across continents painting the name of Nigeria and the country in bad light.

Research personally conducted by me has revealed how Omokri was hired by opposition politicians to trend the #FreeLeahSharibu hashtag from 2018 till date. I have it in good authority how Omokri, a self-styled cash-and-carry social media influencer, is being bankrolled by opposition politicians.

Leah Sharibu was one of the 110 female students of the Government Girls’ Science and Technical College, Dapchi, Yobe State, who were abducted on February 19, 2018, by Boko Haram terrorists.

Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, last December, corroborated this in a piece titled, ‘Enemies Of The Country Will Lose Las Las’.

That was immediately after bandits released over 300 abducted schoolboys from Government Science Secondary School, Kankara, Katsina.

Adesina wrote, “In 2014, there had been #Bring Back Our Girls, which contributed to dealing the government of the day mortal blows, and it was voted out a year later. So, the enemies thought they had a sucker punch at their disposal.

“They came up with #Bring Back Our Boys, and had reportedly printed ten million T-Shirts, which they wanted to use in prosecuting their self-serving crusade. Were they interested in the welfare of the Kankara boys, nor in the travails of their parents? Not at all. They were only actuated by vengeance, and the political capital they could get out of it. Their logic (or is it illogic) was clear. If #Bring Back Our Girls brought down a People’s Democratic Party government, then #Bring Back our Boys must also undo the APC government.”

In 2018, Omokri, a self-acclaimed “best seller” author wrote a book about Sharibu, who had, by the virtue of her conviction, became a prisoner of her conscience. According to Omokri, the proceeds from the sales of this book would be donated to the family of Leah. This happens to be a lie from the pit of hell. Ever since the book gained prominence, Reno Omokri has never for once come out clean on how the proceeds from the sales have been paid to Leah’s Family. In fact, sometime in 2018, a financial analyst, Henry Claudius, and several other Nigerians have accused Reno Omokri of Syphoning the fund.

Omokri is a social media influencer, who can tweet against his mother and father once he is being paid. Little wonder is the latest campaign against President Buhari over his London trip for a medical checkup.

For over a week now since he staged a scanty, no-existent protest in London, he has been sharing the #HarassBuhariOutOfLondon hashtag to misinform his gullible follows who take his RenoNuggets hook, line and sinker.

Last week, some Nigerian social media influencers their accounts suspended by Twitter for using their platforms to promote an ignoble cause.

Only time will tell when Omokri will also be exposed for being a merchant of fake news and an agent of misinformation. The truth cannot hide forever, it will happen one day.

Politics / #Endsars: US Lauds Creation Of Judicial Panels Recommended By Osinbajo-led Coun. by Abuhamdalat1: 10:36pm On Mar 31, 2021
#EndSARS: US Lauds Creation Of Judicial Panels Recommended By Osinbajo-Led Council

The President Joe Biden-led administration in the United States has acknowledged the National Economic Council chaired by Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo and the council’s efforts in ensuring that victims of police brutality get justice.
Following the nationwide protests against men of the now-disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad in October 2020, the Osinbajo-led council had recommended the formation of judicial panels of inquiry by states to enable accurate investigation into the alleged brutality by the ex-SARS operatives.
About 30 states including the Federal Capital Territory and Lagos State set up the panels while scores of victims of police brutality have been served justice through compensations, amongst others.
The US Department of States in a report titled, ‘2020 Country Reports on Human Rights Practices: Nigeria’, recognised thus, “Of the states, 28 and the FCT established judicial panels of inquiry to investigate allegations of human rights violations carried out by the Nigerian Police Force and the disbanded SARS units.
“The panels were made up of a diverse group of civil society representatives, government officials, lawyers, youth, and protesters with the task of reviewing complaints submitted by the public and making recommendations to their respective state government on sanctions for human rights violations and proposed compensation for victims. The work of the judicial panels continued at year’s end.”
The Report also exonerated the Nigerian Army of any killings at the #EndSARS protest ground at the Lekki toll gate in Lagos. Soldiers, who had gone to the tollgate to enforce a curfew imposed by the state government on October 20, 2020, had been accused of killing protesters but the US report said such claim was untrue and unverified.
By its Report, the US dismissed claims by several international rights groups such as Amnesty International; as well as reports by some western media like the Cable News Network that soldiers killed protesters at the Lekki tollgate on October 20 last year.
The US Report partly read, “On October 20, members of the security forces enforced curfew by firing shots into the air to disperse protesters, who had gathered at the Lekki Toll Gate in Lagos to protest abusive practices by the Nigerian Police Force’s Special Anti-Robbery Squad.
“Accurate information on fatalities resulting from the shooting was not available at year’s end.
“Amnesty International reported 10 persons died during the event, but the government disputed Amnesty’s report, and no other organization was able to verify the claim.”

Politics / Why Omojuwa Apologised, Deletes Tweet Against Osinbajo by Abuhamdalat1: 2:27pm On Nov 05, 2020
Found out VP fighting to end police brutality & enforce rule of law

Social Media Influencer Japhet Omojuwa deleted his tweet attacking the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo because he found out that the VP has been an active advocate within government against police brutality and an inside force pushing for the rule of law even in dealing with the fallouts of the EndSARS protests, including the reported seizure of a passport belonging to Nigerian Lawyer and #EndSARS campaigner, Modupe Odele.

In the wake of the protest against police brutality, Osinbajo had met with the Inspector General of Police and immediately, a ban on the activities of Special Anti-Robbery Squad. The VP also met with journalists where he clearly spoke against police brutality and harassment of youths, after which he met again with the Police Chief, Director General of State Security Services among others to review further steps to take on conclusively addressing concerns of Nigerians on excesses of SARS.

Taking a bolder step, a meeting was facilitated with President Buhari, where the VP and the IGP gave reports on their findings and two days after that SARS was eventually dissolved.

The Osinbajo led National Economic Council, also directed governors to set up judicial panels of inquiry to interphase with protesters, investigate erring officers and provide compensation when and where necessary.

Just recently, NEC has also immediately started engaging Youths in all the 36 states and the FCT.

Meanwhile, Prof. Osinbajo has been attacked on various occasions for unverified news and his accusers have often returned apologizing for the false accusations made against him.

It could be recalled that Vanguard Newspaper, who published false news against the VP, apologized through its publication titled; “Retraction/Apology to VP Yemi Osinbajo” on September 25, 2019. Business day also issued an apology to Osinbajo over allegations of withdrawal of N10billion from TSA on 13th August, 2020, likewise WAZOBIA Radio management who also tendered an apology to Osinbajo and retracted a false story on N90b FIRS fraud, dated 15th October, 2020.

Omojuwa, in a series of tweets, explained that there was no malice in his earlier tweets which he has now deleted.

“I’d love to withdraw this tweet about the VP Osinbajo and also apologize for it. I have a better understanding of what happened and his effort to ensure the right thing is being done. My tweet was posted because of my own commitment towards respect for the rule of law.

Omojuwa, however, admitted that he has realized that the VP has continuously championed an end to police brutality.
