PhonesRe: Google To Release Its New Set Of Smartphones Tomorrow - October 4th by abula112(m): 10:28pm On Oct 18, 2016
ssolaoye:
Google is set to announce Pixel and Pixel XL, its pure Android-based smartphones on October 4. Yes, the smartphones won’t be called Nexus this time and Google is adopting the Pixel branding used earlier with its Chromebook and Android tablet. With Pixel branding, Google is also emphasising on the future of ‘Made By Google’ devices.

The new Google smartphones will be made by HTC but don’t be surprised if there is no or little mention of HTC. Rumours have pointed out the search giant is more serious about its say in the design of future devices, which maybe built by Google directly. Google’s Pixel branded phones won’t be the first Android 7.0 Nougat devices, but will be the first to support Google’s DayDream VR platform.

INTRODUCTION
Today, most people don't need to know how a computer works. Most people can simply turn on a computer or a mobile phone and point at some little graphical object on the display, click a button or swipe a finger or two, and the computer does something. An example would be to get weather information from the net and display it. How to interact with a computer program is all the average person needs to know.
But, since you are going to learn how to write computer programs, you need to know a little bit about how a computer works. Your job will be to instruct the computer to do things.

CelebritiesNigerian Comedian Gandoki Broke The Guinness Book Of Records by abula112(op): 8:39am On Oct 09, 2016
Ace comedian Gandoki (Tony Mofe Ereku) On Saturday 1st of October put Nigeria on the world map by becoming the first Comedian to perform non-stop stand-up comedy for 42 hours and 10 mins.

He now holds the new world record for the Longest Stand-up comedy performance by an individual betting the past record of 40 hours and 8 mins. The world breaking challenge started on Thursday 29th of October by 8:00 pm at the Exclusive mansions hotel, Victoria island and climaxed at about 12:34 pm on Independence day, when he beat the previous record.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lb4SK7eYxFE

According to The Cable:

“The comedian’s feat has seen him break the previous world record held by David Scott, a U.S. comedian.

In 2013, Scott performed the longest individual stand-up comedy show of all times, setting a Guinness World Record of 40 hours, 8 minutes.

As it stands, Nigeria’s Gandoki is now the longest performing stand-up comedian in the world.

The comedian concluded the feat on October 1, after starting the stand-up comedy set on Thursday, September 29.

Born Tony Mofe-Reeku, Gandoki prepared 600 topics to make jokes on, in order to break the previous record.

“Gandoki did it… 48 hours, live stand-up comedy. Guinness book of world records”, said Ali Baba, veteran comedian.

The Exclusive Mansion Hotel, Oniru, Lagos, was the location used by Gandoki for the record-breaking endeavour.

The Guinness Book of World Records, which is published annually, lists world and national records, both of human achievements and extremes of the natural world.

While announcing his intention to break Scott’s record, Gandoki had said: “I’m doing this to showcase Nigeria to the world and also show our strength and resilience as a country in spite of the present economic situation.

“I’m also doing this for the Niger Delta people because I am from that part of the country and I want people to know that we are not a violent people.

“It will inspire many young people to believe in their ability and be the best in all areas of their endeavours. With my kind of comedy, hopefully, I will set a new Guinness World Record.”

WebmastersLearn HTML Easily And Start Developing Website by abula112(op):
Have u been looking for a way to learn design?

Or a place to learn it?

Or probably looking for where to start at affordable price?

https://www.html-helper.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/HTML.jpg

Well you are finally where all ur questions are positively answered!!!
Right here we give free tutorial on web development, specifically HTML, which is the foundation. No developer, be it designer or programmer doesn't have at least basic knowledge on html.

Before we start, i will like you to know some few things about HTML, as follows:

1. HTML stands for Hyper Text Markup Language.

2.HTML describes the structure of Web pages using markup.

3.HTML elements are the building blocks of HTML pages

4.HTML elements are represented by tags.
HTML tags label pieces of content such as "heading", "paragraph", "table", and so on
Browsers do not display the HTML tags, but use them to render the content of the page.

5.HTML documents is saved with htm or html extention. E.g tutorial.html

WebmastersTricks To Make Your Website Faster by abula112(op): 11:05am On Oct 01, 2016
1. Optimize Your Database

Most sites use databases to store information. If you have an e-commerce store, blog, news site, or any type of dynamic functionality like internal search, then you are using a database. However, your database can impact your page speed.

Adding an index is one of the best ways to optimize your database for page speed improvements. Doing so will help your database find information faster. Instead of having to scan millions of records, your database can rely on an index to narrow down the data to a few hundred. This helps the data get returned to the page much faster.

For example, recently I was working on a site where the most popular pages were loading very slowly, taking between two to ten seconds each.

The problem was buried in the database — the table that stored the requested data didn’t have an index on it. After adding the index, the average page load time was reduced from the 2- to 10-second range to less than 1 second.

As you can see in the chart below, some load times were north of ten seconds — and, as I mentioned earlier, nobody is going to wait that long for a page to load. (Note that the page load times are measured in seconds — the lower the number, the faster the page loaded.)

2. Ditch Your Tracking Codes, Video Embeds & Share Buttons

Yep. You heard me right. You don’t need five different analytics programs. While tracking codes are vital for analyzing user behavior onsite, marketers should review each analytics program and determine which is necessary.

Remember, simplicity is key. Every time you add another tracking code to your page, it slows it down. For tracking codes you do include, be sure to put it at the bottom of the page. That way, the page can be displayed to the user even if the code hasn’t finished loading yet.

Also, limit the use of video embeds. Why? Video is a great way to build consumer engagement and create a better user experience; however, most video embeds (including YouTube) use iFrames to display the video.

iFrames place a real drag on page load times because they are essentially causing you to load a whole separate page within your main page.

The same goes for share buttons. Marketers should use share buttons to increase referral traffic and reach new consumers. However, most share buttons are javascript-based, and all the javascript does is generate an iFrame on the page.

Try limiting the number of share buttons on each page. This will help prioritize the marketing benefits rather than the negative impact to page speed.

Balance Page Speed With Rankings & Traffic

In each of the above cases, the brand manager needs to balance the risk of a slower page speed with the benefits of each initiative. The best way to make this decision is by testing the change and analyzing its effect on rankings and traffic against your KPIs.

For instance, many sites would prefer an increase in traffic due to share buttons and are comfortable with a decrease in rankings.

Bottom line: Multiple videos or share buttons on a page can dramatically slow down load time. It’s okay to use tracking codes, embed videos, and include share buttons, but be selective.

3. Use Caching When Available

When you visit a web page for the first time, your browser needs to request all the images, text, scripts, etc. from the website’s server. They are stored in your browser’s cache so that when you visit other pages on the site, you only need to download the parts of it that are unique. For example, the site’s logo will likely be the same on every page, so that is an image the browser can load from its cache quickly.

Up until the last year or two, browser caching capabilities were pretty limited. But once HTML5 came on the scene, it received some major updates.

For example, Local Storage allows you to store megabits of data using the browser instead of requiring it to be stored in your server’s database.

Alternatively, Application Cache lets you write fully-functional web applications that can run offline. The benefits of these two caching mechanisms are:

Speed: They allow you to access resources from your local computer so you don’t have to wait for the server to provide them.

Cost Savings: As you increase the use of local storage, your server use will decrease. That means you’ll be paying for less bandwidth and server usage.

Offline Browsing: Your users won’t have to worry about your app not working when their Wi-Fi goes down; their phone enters a dead zone, or you need to take the site down briefly for maintenance.

4. Content Delivery Networks

Imagine that your website’s server is located physically in Texas. Your site should load quickly for residents there because its data need only travel a short distance from the server to their computer.

Now, imagine a user in Paris wants to visit your site. The web page data must travel from Texas to France, stopping at multiple routers along the way. This delay, or “latency,” is added to every single byte of data that is transferred — every image, every video, every javascript file, every CSS file, etc.

Wouldn’t it be great if a copy of your page could exist in a server both in Paris and in Texas? This is exactly what a content delivery network (CDN) does.

A CDN has servers all over the world, and they’ll store a copy of your website on those servers. This way, no matter where a visitor is, they’ll have access to content resident on a nearby server.

The good news is that there are plenty of CDNs out there; however, most are paid services. If you use Amazon for hosting, you can tap into their CloudFront service for CDN capabilities. If you’re a Rackspace customer, you’ll be happy to know that they partnered with Akamai to offer their customers CDN offerings.

But you don’t have to pay for a CDN. Surprise, surprise, Google is offering a free CDN called PageSpeed Service. In true Google fashion, they’re giving it away for free for a while. Then once you’re hooked, they’ll charge for it. That said, pricing will likely be competitive, and you’ll always have the option of switching to another provider down the road.

5. The Most Important Page Speed Tool

Within Google Webmaster Tools you now have access to “PageSpeed Insights.” This tool analyzes a given URL’s page load speed, and gives you tips on how to make improvements.

It is particularly valuable because Google uses a similar speed analysis as a factor in your rankings. Using this tool will allow you to see what Google sees. And if you’re smart, you might want to run it for competitors, and see how you stack up!

ProgrammingWhy There Are Few African Programmers by abula112(op): 3:04pm On Sep 13, 2016
I don't think that it's because of the population number, I believe the cause is cultural. I am a rare case. I'm a Nigerian in college studying agriculture, and a programmer.

https://ilabliberia.org/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/FerrisAtComputer.jpg

Growing up, I was heavily encouraged to go into nursing, pharmacy or any other healthcare-related profession. The reason for this wasn't due to preference or a simple dislike for the field.
But due to admission difficulties in Nigeria, i seek admission into by second best field(agricultural science),but i did not let that stop me from learning on my own some coding skills.

These were the main reasons why programming is not pursued :

I'm told that this field has low job security and that I couldn't get a job.

This may not apply to everyone in my demographic, but it is a main factor for me.
We value education and got to college to come out with jobs that pay well. I was encouraged to work in fields that we could see physically in front of us. Programming didn't fit into this. It's something foreign to them that they couldn't possibly understand. Therefore, when I decided that I wanted to do this instead of pharmacy, they simply didn't get it.

We don't know about it, or even what it is.

When I told my parents I wanted to go into computer science, they didn't know what it was. If I remember correctly, they thought I wanted to manually fix computers and be something along the lines of IT support on the telephone.

In addition, no one's there to inspire kids or tell them that this field even exists. In my high school, there's no computer science classes or anything that teaches anything along the lines of programming. I believe the closest thing we have to it is a computer class and this isn't even how I got interested in programming.

Parents don't Encourage their kids talent.

Most parent encourage to study a job guaranty course, not even caring about if its in line with their dreams.
Africa have so much talent, in all aspect of life, but parents are the major that kills this talent.

So, how did I get interested in programming?

I started getting interested in programming through mobile games. I always wonder how can this things move up when i press the up key and so on. I always had a vague idea about what programming was, but my interest grew when i came across a website called Codeacademy. I was encouraged to continue with my interest in programming by a friend (Eniseyin Olabode Olajide).
I know my experience is really rare, but I think the reason there aren't many Africans who program is because it isn't taught in schools or after school programs. If it could get into schools and get as good press (or press, period) as business or education fields, etc. then maybe more African would want to pursue this field.

Jobs/Vacancies5 Highest Paid Jobs In Nigeria 2016 by abula112(op): 6:40pm On Sep 10, 2016
The battle for the spots on the highest paying jobs in Nigeria is a very tough one. There are quite a number of lucrative jobs paying good salaries or other remunerations. But with proven research by various job and career portals and information from industry watchers and insiders, the information below shows 5 of the highest paying jobs in Nigeria and how much they pay on the average, although not in any particular order.

If you are a young person and quickly want to build a strong financial base going through the job route, you might need to consider a career in any of these 5 jobs that pay very good salaries.

Here are 5 of the highest paying jobs in Nigeria:

IT/Telecom Engineers
This is probably the most lucrative job in today’s world, not because it necessarily pays the highest remuneration, but because there is nothing you do today that does not have the IT side. Hence, those who have developed themselves appropriately in whatever capacity will always be in high demand and command high pay. In an organization, software and hardware administration falls within the purview of these professionals and they sometimes also train other staff members. As the industry grows stronger, there will be more demand for professionals in this highly skilled sector. Did I hear you ask, how much they earn? They earn between N3.5m – N7million annually. I guess someone needs to reboot his/her mind or probably load fresh software.

Which one catches your fancy and you would like to be a player in if you are not already doing so? Go ahead and be the best that you can and as the saying goes, “The Sky will be your starting point.”

Aerospace Engineering:
There is hardly any quality, functioning aerospace engineering and technical department in Nigerian universities. Aerospace engineers working in the country’s aviation sector got their professional and technical trainings outside the shores of the country and get paid handsomely. They are most likely licensed aircraft engineers and its a tasking profession that requires continuous technical expertise and sound judgement. Pilots earn well but do not come near the pay packet of aeronautical engineers.

Production/ Petroleum Engineers:
Highly skilled engineers in the various production aspects of the petroleum industry are among the best paid professional careers in the country. IT is a very technical job and requires a lot of time that must be dedicated to reading and studying in order to acquire necessary certifications to practice. And then those in the Oil and Gas industry whether up or down stream command the highest pay of them all. They take home a pay package of about N3.5m – N6.5m annually, which is good in an economy like ours that is not so stable and also still considered as growing.

Commercial Airline Pilots:
Dominated by expatriates, pilots in the country are still among top earners. Indications are that as more airlines join the airspace in Nigeria to make things even more interesting and competitive well trained and skilled pilots will command more pay as they will be in more demand. Pilots just like medical doctors have a high degree of responsibility for the lives of passengers in the plane; hence they should be highly skilled and trained personnel who know exactly what they are doing. In Nigeria, they earn from about N3.4m up to N7.4 million and more in some cases even more.

Hackers and Programmers:
I can imagine you have a grin on your face. Hackers?! Well, maybe you don’t know that there are ethical hackers, just as you have non-ethical hackers. The internet world is growing and more and more programmers will be needed who are well-versed in the programming. Although in Nigeria finding ethical hackers is still hard to come by in Nigeria. And of course organizations are coughing out millions to have their websites secured from non-ethical hackers. Salary range is between N2.8m – N6.48million annually.
