Thanks, bro, this is a more detailed and unambiguous clarification. Well, all the student needs to do is to ask his/her sponsor to send the statement of account. Lol, no sponsor will agree to transfer such a huge amount of money abroad.

Someone used a Nigerian bank statement and told me they accepted it but I personally used Nigerian bank statement, they rejected it.
I had to print straight from my Korean bank account so anyways can work for anyone though.

So a master's degree student who has obtained a two-year visa needs to extend his visa again after his first year in Korea, despite having a two-year visa?

When you come here with two year visa on your passport, they give you one year stay to come back and extend again after one year.
Most people were lucky last year because they have them straight two years here but right now, they split it and give you one to come back again after one year.

Some masters program is 3 years so you have to come twice.

Basically students used to borrow money and dump in their account for visa extension and it used to be $10,000 for each extension.
That means if you have $3000, you can borrow the remaining 7000 from friends, deposit in your account and go for visa extension with no worries.

But now, they increased it to $20,000 and also want to verify how you get the 20000, they want to know if you worked and how you were able to raise such amount too.
And they want to see a proof of international wire transfer to your account from your sponsor to be sure that you didn't work to make such money and that you actually came to study and not work

The point is that they want students to stop working and depend on their sponsor abroad.
I hope they tamper justice with mercy.

After one year of study, you need to extend your visa in order to keep your studentship.
If you are unable to extend your visa due to finance, you are automatically no more a student, and you become illegal and liable for deportation if caught.
It's not to scare you after all there are hundreds of intl students here but its to get yourself prepared.
You can raise some part of the money here but all money has to be traced via your account.
If for example you worked in Korea and make $10,000, your employer name will reflect on your account as the depositor.

But then you are supposed to work 20 hours per week and that is after your ist 6 months of study with good grades.
Immigration has to check your transcript and you will get a job first before work permit will be issued so it's hard to get $10,000 if you work 20hrs a week. That is not even obtainable.
Everything is possible.

Things changing with time, Korea moving with the speed of light.
Students basically coming here with intentions to work fulltime because naija no good.
They have adopted new laws, but there is God.

Graduate degree students will need bank statement showing $20,000 while undergraduate students and Korean language students will show less than that to get admission and even to extend visa here in Korea.

Existing students in Korea will bring evidence of how the money($20,000) was wired by sponsor to their Korean account along with bank statement from Korean bank before they can extend their visa in Korea.

Those on assylum visas are now being taxed almost $1000 every 3 months to get visa extension which will be cancelled any moment.

From September, any intl student caught working without permit will be deported immediately as they said.
Make una get ready especially in terms of bank statement before coming to avoid entering illegal.
