Read what I wrote again, and try to comprehend. Midrange AMOLED is OVERRATED, AMOLED is different from AMOLED. AMOLED is not always better, blacks being black is the advantage a lot of people know, burn in is a problem, not so accurate white is also a problem for some low budget ones. Even samsung AMOLED also has grades(the one they use is different from the one they sell) the one in the S and Note series is not the one in A or J series, find out things for yourself not what a reviewer said. I have seen A20 and RN7 screen, no too much difference, seems A20 has slight backlight for the black self. I use POCO f1 and yea, the LCD panel is not so great but it's an okay display, K20 pro is not midrange to start with, the comparison was between 2 midrange phones in the same price range

Hahahahahahahaha, d guy don vex, but imagine how person go compare ordinary A30 to note 7. Some persons sabi overhype dieee! I go take a 720p ips screen over an Amoled of same resolution anyday, the pixels very very visible to my eyes. Some ppl think say so far na Amoled then na good screen, some even think say the Galaxy A20 screen at 720p dey better than the Redmi note 7 screen just because na Samoled, smh.

honestly to me, midrange samoled are overrated.

with unlocked bootloader, the global rom should work. It was like that with redmi 6 pro also

Yes, I'm on China rom. I have enabled all the permissions and yet, it's not working. However, after a long try I have been able to use normal WhatsApp but the WhatsApp business is still not working and that's the reason I bought the phone.

unlock bootloader and get flash global rom then.

It's been like dat for a while... Like i can't even recall sef... Miui android, on all recent Xiaomi phones. I think miui10 fixed that

China rom and xiaomi.eu has option to set it to either android style with one finger swipe or 2 fingers miui style. Global stable is one finger

lolll,little things trigger my OCD esp notifications. I can't be swiping with 2 fingers first before I can do a quick reply from notification list. It unsettles me.

mine is with one finger i set notification style as android, not miui. I use xiaomi.eu rom though, it has that option, i think global stable is like that too

best bet na to just sell the phone parts, the panel never even dey aliexpress the last time i checked, and sending it to china for repairs will cost as much as buying a new phone

most phones nowadays support apps from internal memory only, don't know any apps that can do that now(it was possible then when phones had limited internal storage link2sd and xposed frameworks were some of the hacks then), running apps from memory card will also be slow as most memory card can't match your internal storage speed. Best bet is to get a phone with enough internal memory (32gb, 64gb or more as the case maybe or as the budget can allow)

I hope Xiaomi are not trying to limit the k20 pro to only China and India, would make sense for them as they don't want to kill the mi 9 but a big loss to other potential customers outside these regions.

we for naija get luck, worse case scenario na to get mifi for unsupported bands , they always try to do things that favours the mi series (it makes more business sense), same thing with pocophone by reducing screen quality and camera quality despite same sensor, now its region specific pricing

"Improved screen clarity"? Are you for real? The new pie display colour is horrible. Have already seen similar complaints on Miui forums...Still don't get what you guys find enjoyable about those colors. Oreo colours were better...I mean, get another RN5 still on Oreo and make a side-by-side comparison with the one on pie, and then judge for yourself.
Found an app on XDA to make some tweaks on the pie colours tho. Requires root. Much improvement.

I think the colors are a bit oversaturated, some like it though

the emmc is internal storage or flash storage, it's on the motherboard, except you get a new motherboard/panel for the phone, it's as good as paper weight. Damaged emmc means it won't respond to flash, you can't wipe, basically anything that has to do with storage is f<cked. I worked on the phone, we paid to get an authorized account to do the edl flashing, flashing that doesn't take up to 10 mins took over 20mins to flash, after flashing phone spent close to an hour booting which eventually failed, wiping data also refuses to work. I believe you should now have an idea of what's wrong with the phone now

Have you used poweramp before? It's targeted at audiophiles, an audiophiles music format can be aac, flac, even mp4 and m4a formats. Poweramp does a pretty good job here, it isn't perfect with its cataloging system and option to exclude folders is still there

root doesn't affect ota on xiaomi devices, but after ota you lose root and have to flash again

flash magisk, if no changes, use magisk hide props module and get a terminal emulator, the module comes with the instruction

you know some people use global version/ global rom interchangeably but global version with locked bootloader can't be bricked from ota(except maybe you move from stable to beta), that's one advantage they have. I've had about two cases, the first one was even doing ota till the pie update, so i think its majorly china version that bootloader wasn't officially unlocked that has issues with this pie update, safest bet will be to flash with miflash, that way you confirm if bootloader is truly unlocked and you run at minimal risk of brick

Now the small problem of installing a global rom (currently running Chinese rom).

You welcome baba, unlocking bootloader and getting global rom is the way to go. Seems the pie update is crashing phones that came with global rom but the bootloader unlock wasn't official
