you could just search for Google installer before in the app store and you get it listed in the results,it's kind of hidden now. Tried your method same issue, will just flash global rom then

ohhh it's removed in app store for the 2 phones

It's even giving me accelerated download speed which takes half the time to complete.

not k20 pro, redmi note 5 and mi 8 se. Both China roms. Yours work perfectly which google installer did use,? I just don't know what I'm doing wrong

it'll show waiting for wifi., or download pending, At least in my own case,

good, download the recent fastboot rom for China stable, you'll get that on china version of miui site

I couldn't get miflash to work, (waiting for hello packet error,) download the modded firehose for qfil and follow the tutorial (flashed mine by disconnecting battery though)

Identify the testpoint, you need to unscrew 2 screws to access it, download qfil and china stable rom. I'll get the link for the firehose file ready also. Or drop a whatsapp contact, I no wan risk ban

I have done that but unfortunately I didn't clicked on my developer option wen I was using the phone and that calls for anyone with authorized account before my bootloader can be unlocked

I can help, you need a patched firehose file for redmi note 5, QFIL, test point access(you need to open the phone) and china stable rom. Sellers use an unofficial method to unlock bootloader and flashed fake rom, thats the problem

there is a special file in the firmware called firehose, if you have this patched one, you dont need authorized account, it works only on redmi note 5. If you can have the phone open and get chinese firmware, Its quite easy

I don't plan on flashing Global ROM on this guy. I've not encountered any issues so far and there's nothing i'm particularly missing.

google play store works well on it? Currently experience issues on playstore download using mobile data if it exceeds 100mb, china stable rom

Updated via OTA but it won't boot. It says the MIUI version can not be installed on the device.

Wiped data, nothing happened. Rebooted severally and the problem persists. Even used MiFlash and it says the phone is locked (Bootloader). Acekid said I'd have to use testpoint and that's were you came into the discussion. I need help on how to get the phone working again.

if you can open the phone, i can get you the needed file, you need QFIL though, and china stable rom (the phone is definitely china version with fake global rom)

My pc has issue RN..but its something you can do yourself, if willing... you'll need to pay for an authorized account to flash fastboot rom in edl mode..

authorized account self is not needed, patched firehose and qfil works with redmi note 5

Those on CN roms, can i get a link to working Google installer, or how to get playstore to work using mobile data? I'm stuck here, playstore just won't download on mobile data,

I feel I should post this here, it might be of help to those bricking their redmi note 5. Before pie update, recoveries like pitchblack, orangefox and redwolf can handle ota quite alright, but with the pie update any of these recoveries (pitchblack in my own case) will start the update process and when done with the update, it will go blank, no boot logo, no mi icon, no recovery nothing nothing, Fastboot works even though it wont show fastboot icon on the phone(at least in my own case). Connecting to the system, it was properly identified then i could flash the 10.3.1.0(oreo) fastboot file (as their was no fastboot pie when i did the upgrade)without any problem(Since both were ARB4) and without losing any files also. My advice is if you have a custom recovery installed on redmi note 5, its best to go back to stock recovery to run the update, then install custom recovery that supports pie firmware if you want to keep custom recoveries

your bootloader is locked. You'll need to open the phone and use testpoint method, you also need someone with authorized account for testpoint flashing. If you are lucky and mi account is bound to the device, use mi unlock tool to unlock bootloader it should unlock, if not edl/testpoint route with china fastboot rom is the only solution

Images doesn't have a sub-folder. I clicked on the main folder, then selected images. Nothing else after Images folder.

Don't Select images, that's the problem. Just select the main folder that has images in it and you are good to go, the scripts are inside this folder
