Family › Re: Divorced (or Separated) Couples, Can You Please, Share Your Experience? by Adaisback(f): 6:50pm On Feb 12 |
letskeeptalking: I guess my real question is: knowing what you know now, would you make the same choice again?
I’m currently on the verge of divorce after 15 years of marriage and three kids.. Even though this is my decision, I feel like I have no real choice. My husband (if I can even call him that) says he doesn’t want to lose his family, but he does absolutely nothing to show it.
A lot has happened over the years, and it’s reached a point where I genuinely believe there is no future for us as a couple.
So I feel like I have two options: divorce him and move forward as a single mother… or stay, knowing I could never love him again.
I worry about my kids and how growing up with parents in a loveless marriage might shape their future relationships and choices. But then I also wonder, would they be better off growing up with a single mother?
I’m not concerned about stigma or even about finding another partner someday. Honestly, the way I feel right now, I’m ready to remain celibate for life.
If you’ve gone through this, can you please share your experience? Do you regret your choice? Looking back, would you make the same decision again? I believe marriage is not easy anywhere. My mother would say, give yourself time , take it to God in prayer. He can solve it all |

elipheleh: Marrying an unintelligent woman is really the worst mistake a man can make.
If I can reverse the Hands of clock I wont go for my current wife.
Well, I always loved an intellectually sound woman. It trips me. Something like a medical doctor or a programmer lady. At minimum a working class lady. Both intellect and beauty trips me.
I imagined a marriage where I'll be on thesame frequency.
I am a 1st class material but financial burden made me drop to second class upper in my 3rd year to 5th year.
I always knew I was going far in life and needed a woman who wanted to go far too.
When I met my wife she was very beautiful, speaks very well and in her 1st year. Each time I asked about her studies she would convince me how she was the best in her class and this and that.
Ask for her results, she would say results are not yet out.
By her 2nd year I married her after she got pregnant. As per the honorable man na
Do you know this girl after I2nd year, all her results were carry over. I mean ALL. Not even 1 pass.
Damn. Women fear women.
Now she just birthing beautiful kids. But now there's communication. Tge knowledge gap between us is too wide. Nothing to discuss about. Even when I try to communicate it frustrates me. I will speak and still explain my very own grammar. Then I will now explain the meaning and the etymology before continuing with the sentence. Its a real pain communicating.
You can imagine my regrets when I see an intelligent hardworking lady doctor outside.
Secondly, she doesn't want to work or even study to improve herself.
I am not poor by any means. I am a software developer. I earn about N4 million monthly.
But my wife is only happy selling ZOBO and kwulikwuli. Even at that she is not serious with it. Imagine this year she has not even started selling anything. January has passed.
I've told her to learn and IT skills. She says No.
Told her learn nursing, she said No
I did international passport for me, her and our 3 kids. She just came up and said she won't like to travel abroad. Her fears is that women there are likely going to be working on jobs.
Ok. Madam lets open Boutique for you - she no get the energy to run boutique.
Oya learn driving and be taking the kids to school - it is taking her almost 3 years to learn. Today she will drive, tomorrow she will forget it.
Oya madam go back to school and complete your education. She no want.
Every quarrel, she will threaten to commit suicide (informing random relations of mine to take care good of her children if anything happens to her) and accuse me of not seeing any value in her. Madam which value? You don't want to improve yourself and you now cry that I am improving.
She wants this and that and I spend so much. How can a man be spending more than 3 million every month? She want chop chop chop.
Since I met her, I have overworked myself.
Story long..
Sometimes, I always feel like quitting this marriage. But being a Christian, I feel trapped in this better for worse journey.
If only Madam can develop herself. I wish she can be just willing to learn or pursue knowledge. Let her drop this laziness about self-development and littleness mindset thing. Kai. No ambition. No dreams. I wish she can just have dreams for once in her life. And be a lover of wisdom.
I plan to go far in this life. But its difficult to do so when you're unequally yoked with an unambitious partner.
Only God can save my marriage at this rate things are going give that woman space . You can move over to another state or even abroad , be sending her monthly allowance but make sure the money you send will be a little less than enough. If she complain, complain back and tell her things are difficult and money is hard to come by these days. By the time hunger wire her well , no be person go tell her to find something doing to support herself. |

Op , be calming down o. I have seen a man that married a woman that is earning more than him but every little thing she will call the man and demand money for it even if it is pen or pencil for the kids.
I have also seen a man that married an uneducated woman , as soon as she came she started selling roadside rice and ofe akwu , today she is building a two story building for her family and the man even later lost his job.
Everything na prayer. Just pray make you marry a good woman. |

OfoIgbo: Babandiga has already pointed an accusing finger at Awolowo.
As a former president of Nigeria, Babangida obviously was privy to secret documents which helped him in that decision.
Coup led Awolowo to prison Awolowo coopted some impressionable officers, some of whom were Igbos to execute the Jan 1966 coup. Awolowo also planned a coup when Babangida was the president, which led him to injest rat poison.
It seems as though Awolowo's life was all about coups and killing people. Thank God he was unable to rope in any Igbo person in his last coup, otherwise he would have used it as an excuse to starve more Igbos to death. thank God for people that are well versed in history otherwise they would have caused more rifts between Ndigbo and the northerners. God bless you dearest |

franchasng: Ordinarily, I am not supposed to reply you, but since I am free now, I will.
First, stop allowing ethnic dislike to control your thoughts and reasoning as human.
Your political elites told you guys so much lies about the Igbos which you guys have held on to for several years now and refused to do personal research and even analyze issues based on available facts and not some hearsay or they said or I heard.
I am going to present facts to you which you can personally research to know if it's true or not.
General Aguiyi Ironsi the first Military Head of state of Nigeria who happened to be Igbo was removed via counter coup in 1966.
While he was Military Head of state, Nigeria still ran regional system of government.
Col. Odimegwu Ojukwu was the Military Governor of Eastern Nigeria.
Col. Adekunle Fajuyi was the Military Governor of Western Region.
Maj. Gen. Hassan Katsina was the Military Governor of Northern Region.
Col. David Ejoor was the Military Governor of Midwestern Region of Nigeria.
Immediately Ironsi was removed, Gowon took over as Military Head of State and after taking power, Gowon replaced the four large regions (North, East, West, Mid-West) with a 12-state structure in 1967.
Gowon stated that he dissolved the regional system as a strategic move to dilute regional power, reduce ethnic tensions, and prevent further fragmentation. This effectively ended the pre-existing regional system.
But as usual, Yoruba media propaganda always love to blame Igbos for every political issue in Nigeria, so they always held on to decree 34 by Aguiyi Ironsi as what ended regional system of government but under the same man they said ended regional system, Nigeria had Regional Governors, Western Region had a Military Regional Governor, Fajuyi.
Now you may ask what was decree 34 all about?
It was a usual practice for all military personnel that seized power in their nations back then to find ways to consolidate power to avoid political uprising against them, so they usually suspend their nation's constitution and adopt the use of military decree to enact laws they used to rule their nations in place of national constitution.
Decree 34 abolished political parties, unified civil service in Nigeria to give the military head of state the power to control state institutions and prevent political uprising.
But as usual, Yorubas intentionally ignored Gowon's decree no 14 of May 27, 1967 that instantly abolished regional governments and created the first 12 states in Nigeria, which ended the regional system of government and rather blamed Aguiyi Ironsi's decree no 34 that only unified civil service and abolished political parties while keeping regional governments as Nigeria still had Regional Governors before Ironsi was removed via bloody counter coup.
So tell me, how did Ironsi ended Regional government in Nigeria when under his military leadership Nigeria still had 4 regional governments with their respective Regional Governors?
Tell me why Ironsi who never created a single state but kept all the four regions and appointed Military Governors to oversee the four regions the person to be blamed instead of Gowon that abolished regional governments and created the first 12 states in Nigeria? Even I myself did not know this history. Thanks nwokeoma |
