Politics / Kwara State Government Collects New Loan by Adbash: 12:29pm On Feb 20, 2019
The Kwara State government has explained why it obtained N1 billionloan from a bank last week.
A group known as Kwara Coalition for Good Governance and Accountability (Kwara-CGGA) had asked the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to probe the N1 billion loan obtained by the state government .
In a statement by its secretary general, Hassan Omoiya, the group said it has intelligence that the state government obtained the loan on 13th February from a first generation bank using the remittance of Kwara State VAT allocation due in February and March 2019 as collateral.
But, the state government in a statement by the state commissioner for Finance, Alhaji Demola Banu said, (Owing to the consistently low and unstable federal allocation, the state government often secures short term loans from banks to augment inflows to meet monthly obligations.
"These obligations include salaries, pensions and overheads as well as liabilities such as payments to contractors and gratuity arrears.
States affected by the consistent drop in monthly allocation often augment the shortfall with bank loans. Kwara State is no exception.
(Additionally, banks only grant loans following due diligence which examines the capacity to repay and what the facility will be used for.
Any facility obtained by the state government, therefore, goes only towards budgeted expenditure.
"It is through this prudent management of funds that we are able to pay salaries, pensions and subventions as well as fund major infrastructure besides providing repayment guarantees.
This administration will also liquidate these short term loan interventions by or before it leaves office."
Kwara Coalition for Good Governance and Accountability (Kwara-CGGA statement reads in part: "We urge the EFCC and indeed the Federal Ministry of Finance to determine the appropriateness of utilisation of credit facility of N1 billion by Kwara State Government at the twilight of general elections and the status of VAT Account as collateral for the credit facility in the absence of prior approval and authorisation from Debt Management Office and Federal Ministry of Finance in tandem with extant laws and regulation on granting of loan to state governments.
It is our expectation that your investigation will extend to individuals and corporate institutions that participated in the unwholesome act with a view of prosecuting the affected individuals and institutions with attendant cost and penalty."

WILL10:

Hello Mr. Adbash,

Am just wondering if your cautious, but slighting comment of getting realities over-hyped was directed at my person or just an open comment.

First off, i have no dog in this fight, hence, any aspiring Nigerian should prepare for the very worst when he/she is here in Korea(i have always said those or painted that picture on this platform). I have nothing to gain or loose at not painting the actual realities here.
You just cannot expect me to give a detailed account of my daily life activities here as they unfold Sir, because no one pays me for such info, and just the same way i would not have expected other greats here like Acadollar, KCLuv Et al to do the same for me.

Secondly, You are evidently still fresh or a Newbie in Korea and haven't "tested enough waters" yet, since your arrival(I can bet, owing to our last email conversation of your PT job need and request). But the fact that you have not done or experienced much since your arrival here does not discredit the fact that other people's personal picture of Korea on this platform are often vague and "over-hyped".

Furthermore, All comments/statements of mine on this platform have been corroborated with life lessons, personal experiences and even with those corroborated by my very close friends here, Korean job associates/agents that i currently refer people to work with here and even with the Zambian guy (Mr. Cosmos, in Deagu), that you have mentioned.
Whatever comment you have made here have already been painstakingly exhausted by myself here on pages. 104 (5 Legal and Basic Job types for foreigners....) and 113 (becoming a permanent citizen) and replies to Mr. Sexes2005 on page 124, just to mention a few.
I challenge you to point-out how and where i have failed to give accurate descriptions of things and stuffs here in Korea!

I do not have to be economical with the truth and have never countered anyone's personal picture of his/her realities here in korea on this platform (if you have closely observed my inputs here), and so does other greats here such as Acadollar, KCLuv et al. They never did, they just bare their minds on perennial issues or questions thrown at them and move-on!
That is why i encourage people to go back and read through the threads to get meaningful answers to their often repetitive questions!!!

On a personal note, I have worked in so many job disciplines, which cuts across virtually all the industries since my arrival here in Korea.
I have taught English Language and got paid(and i still do till now, and so does my few friends even on this platform), i have worked in mobile/smart phone factory complexes, Automobile coys, Logistics (Tekbe) coy, i have outsourced my IT/Programming skill-set to coys, outsourced my research and technical skills to research scholars like myself and a whole bunch of other stuffs....all on the side(PT-based)!
I am strong-Willed person(The meaning of Williams), and graciously gifted by God - who strengthens me, because i am still able to combine those with my daily 10am to 9pm Laboratory research/Projects Job.
I know my onion Bro and i am sure you have seen a bit of my profile in the CV and other documents i did send to you to assist you to get here to SK without much hitch as few months back.

Finally, I find your comments about "over-hyping the realities on this platform" as very careless, a bit treacherous and a slap on the faces of people who have been here long before you arrived Korea and who have assisted you to get here in Korea, through this platform or through other means. I strongly advise that you always try to proof-read your comments about peoples opinion on here, or that you just make your thoughts/opinions known to the platform (as we all do here), and move-on. (You may call my attention if my meanings to your comments were a bit assuming or wrongly analyzed).

I hope that helps.

Cheers

Hmmmmmn.

I can't believe you're taking what I wrote as an attack on your personality. I even quoted you to corroborate your point when someone requested for more clarity on the kind of tedious job I made mention.

You have been doing a great job here and so other people too and I never for once hide it from anyone on this forum regarding how helpful you're by seeking your opinions on my scholarship issue and sending your CV and study plan for perusal for my Visa application.

I would have preferred you sent me a personal message to seek for clarity than the way you have responded here. If by any means you felt offended based on what I wrote, I am very sorry. Your thinking is quite different from the message I passed.

I never wanted to say this because we didn't do it for any praise from anyone, a friend of my that facilitated my coming to SK and I have secured seven admission slots ( 3masters and 4PhDs) for Nigerians in the next semester and they have all applied. They will be coming to SK come February by God's grace.
Individual has reasons why he or she is assisting people but mine has never been for any personal gains for whatsoever.

Please I am so sorry if you felt bad or hurt about what I wrote. You put some abusive words like "careless, trechery and the likes" there which I don't know if actually you really meant what you wrote but I believe it is because of the way you felt so I won't let it bothers me much. #Peacebro

The pay is good but you have to be strong bro. The one he is talking about (6pm-7am) pays 80,000 won minimum which is roughly 80 dollars or lesser. So in a mouth you will be earning roughly 1800 dollars or more. This is assuming you worked throughout the month. Mind you, it's not easy to juggle this with your studies but you have to do it because others are doing it. The fillip side of being here is that you will have the opportunity of migrating to another country or remaining here after your studies, which is not a bad idea. Anything you want. Let me sound a note of warning, abroad is not easy and making money here is also difficult, not just Korea, but everywhere in the world. You will face the same challenges, so brace up. If you know what you're doing, you can save up money and use it to migrate to another country after your programme if you wish. I met a naija guy here in my school, he just concluded his masters and the money he was able to save up got him a ticket for a PhD in Germany. He paid the block money by himself. He is now in Germany doing his PhD. So have a plan and know that for you to achieve your plan you have to make sacrifices. I'm not trying to discourage anybody but to tell you how it is here but hey, if the Uzbeks, Sri Lankas and other Asian and African guys can do it, you can also do it bro.

Well done brother. You gave a well articulated report of how things are here.

The true picture of everything.

Loading and unloading the contents of containers from 6pm to 7am with 1hour break. It is kind of difficult for someone that has not done such before.

There are some other jobs as Will10 pointed out but many can't do those because one needs to be able to speak Korea language.

Of course, no illegal work or hustle considered.

@Suxex.

Thanks for the humble response. You actually poured out my mind.

We should try as much as possible not to over hype things so that people won't be disappointed when they arrive here.

Let them know the pros and cons of coming and the available jobs. There is a Zambia guy in my domain here, he has been the one looking for jobs for all African guys here at zero cost. But not a lot of people can actually do those jobs. I was there and I saw it, I am talking from experience.

May God Almighty bless our struggles. Ameen.

My Experience at Abuja VFS office
Date: 27th July
Program Applied for: PhD
Docs Submitted
1. Properly filled visa application form with two passports.
2. International passport with coloured copy of the data page
3. Study plan/statement of purpose
4. Photocopies of my certificates from Primary school to Masters level (Original copies of my first and second degrees are in Korean)
5. Admission documents such as original certificate of admission letter, certificate of scholarship from the school, certificate of sponsorship from my professor, my professor's certificate of employment, certificate of incorporation of the school.
6. Official letter from all my HOD.
7. letter of introduction from my employer.

Conversation with the desk officer at VFS office, Abuja

I got there around 3.30pm because I was coming from Ilorin. There were only two people, a guy and a lady, attending to people. It was a lady that checked my documents but after checking them she refused to accept them.

Her reasons:

1. statement of account is missing
2. I didn't notarize my documents at MOE and MFA.
3. I didn't do affidavit of my certificates.

I was trying to explain to her that the certificate of financial support from my professor should suffice for the requested statement of account and also since I am submitting my original certificate of admission that I didn't need to notarize my documents again or do any affidavit but all my explanation fell on her deaf hear. The other guy (should be her senior colleague) now told me to go and look for what the lady said was missing by giving me the checklist of documents required.

I left the VFS office angrily though Will10 had previously told me to collect statement of account of my professor and notarize all my documents but the admission officer of my school insisted that I have all the documents needed for my visa with me.

Immediately I got to my lodge, I mailed the Korea embassy informing them of my experience and the documents I presented. I also called admission officer of the school to help me call the embassy by informing them about my documents rejection at the VFS while also called my professor to send me her statement of account.

At around 9.30a. m. on Friday 28 July, I got a mail from the admission officer that she had spoken with them at the embassy that I should go back to VFS office with all the documents I had with me. I also got a replied mail from the embassy apologizing of how I was treated in the previous day that I should go back to the VFS office with my documents.

I got to the VFS office around 11a. m. on July 28 and I met only the guy, the other lady wasn't on sit. I presented my documents like I did in the previous day and the looked at me and called out my name. He checked through and asked if I will be coming to pick my visa back or use courier for the delivery. He then gave me a teller to make a payment of 32,900. 21000 for visa fee, 7000 for VFS service fee, 400 for SMS charge and 4500 for courier service.

I got a mail from VFS on August 10 that my visa has been processed and deliver to courier agent. I got a call from courier agent on 14 of August to pick up my visa.

I got D2 with 2years visa.

Please Iv been going through a problem Here, which is the issue of sending my transcript. Hardly will a school give you your transcript, they usually send it to your school directly. But most schools in SK wants it sent by you together with your other documents and the embassy require you include it in your application documents also. To the gurus in the house how did you guys handle this situation when applying? Please help it's very urgent. Thanks

You can always request or apply for student copy of the transcript as the case may be.

My package has finally arrived at its destination.

I went to make enquiry at the post office where I sent it when I couldn't track it online as suggested by Mrs Naira and Slimfit2.

It was at the post office I got to know that my package has already gotten to South Korea on 26/4/2017 and I sent it on 20/04/2017. But due to public holidays in South Korea, they couldn't send it to the final destination.

I finally got a call today that the package has been received. Thanks everyone especially Mrs Naira and Slimfit2.

@slimfit2 just echoed my thoughts.
Don't worry, your package will get there in time, I send parcels regularly to Hong Kong and Japan, South Korea should be the same thing.
Good luck!

Thanks. The package is registered mail though I have not been able to track it online as it is saying... the service currently unavailable, trying again later. Thanks a lot.

Wow that's a heavy package. Please next time, use registered mail so that you can track until it gets to the post office in Ibadan.
Anyway, give it 10 to 15 business days, then ask the receiver to go to the post office with a valid ID and ask for the parcel.
Good luck.

Hi NIPOST Ambassador

I just sent a package of some documents to South Korea from Ilorin. The woman at the counter told me my package will be delivered with 10 working days and I have a tracking number on the receipt I was given.

My fear is your post saying between 10 to 15 working days as against what the woman told me. I have a deadline to meet latest 10th of May. She also told me I can only track it to Lagos and until it gets to destination, South Korea before I can track it again. Please what can you say regarding my fear? Thanks a bunch.

Nigeria as a country speaks better English language than the rest of the African countries(arguably), yet, we are not legally allowed to teach the language here or anywhere else for that matter. We cannot easily secure collar or lucrative jobs in other sectors too directly from Nigeria.
We are only allowed to do shitty and PT jobs abroad while studying. We are only allowed to first spend hugely on foreign education and then work extremely harder to now secure lucrative jobs abroad.
These are the consequences of the previous actions of our bros n sis abroad. The get-rich-quick syndrome have totally be-deviled their minds. They have practically ruin it all for the incoming generation, who now have nothing left.

For instance, sometimes it beats me why heavily accented English-speaking countries like South Africa, Angola, et al, could easily secure teaching jobs here, but we Nigerians, who are extremely qualified for such jobs gets turned down or ignored the moment we put-in our CVs.

Be the change you really want to see! Do needful when abroad. Stay legal, determined and focused. Stay away from crimes and criminality when abroad

Hi bro

I need your advice please. I applied to a university in SK in the last spring semester for a Ph.D (full scholarship) after seeking an approval from a Professor that promised to push it through I was denied admission at departmental screening.

But when I contacted the Prof. on the development, she felt sad and said she didn't know what went wrong that she had even informed her current student that I would be joining them for spring semester.

Last week, the Prof. contacted me that I should reapply for the doctaral program again for the coming summer semester that she will try her best to push it through this time around. But my plan initially is to wait till next spring semester before applying but she is insisting I should try and apply for summer semester.

Please I need your advice on this. Thanks
