I agree with your last statement but you really don't know what he has gone through. Pleading guilty sometimes might be the best to avoid unnecessary spending and give you peace of mind that the case is over.

I remember a friend once worked with filling stations with paltry salary. Despite all our efforts for hum to leave there ,he remained glued to the station as if he was a stakeholder until he told us he made ×10 of his salary before month end.
