FamilyRe: Living In The City Without A Job, How Ladies Cope. by adeakeem(m): 8:57am On Feb 15, 2015
Tallesty1:
There are times we need to ask ourselves questions and answer them truthfully.

What I’m talking about today is the reason some ladies will leave everyone they know in a state and go to the city to stay without a job or handwork.

Personaly I don’t see why anyone will love to leave his or her beloved family to spend time in another part of the country without a genuine reason.

Their(ladies) reasons most times are, They want money, spouse, They need to be free from parents and everyone they know, a job etc but they don't know that in so doing they have pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

Thats why you see them Being used in the relationships, Guys see them as spare parts element and not wife materials, the very unfortunate ones are being killed for ritual purposes.

It breaks my heart to see the pitiable life they live here.
You see them cooking and washing for guys. Some are even married without their parent's knowledge. On sundays they would be praying for a guy to ask them to cook for him so that at least their would be something to eat. Crazy things like that.

There are those that have moved into the permanent site(Prostitution).

There is one around here, the only time she sleep at home is when she is seeing her period. No job, oh sorry, she is got a job. Her job is her relationship, she is got more than five guys that are dating her.

And there some (goshcry) that date sugar-mummies(lesbian sugar-mummies).

Typing the stuffs they do here just to survive will definitely give me keypadtriosis.

I know that some of them do succeed and make money but every other thing seems to be against them.

My questions are:

1: Why leave your village when you know that you don't have anything serious to do in the city?

2: Is the money worth what they pass through?

HealthPot Belly Is Not A Sign Of Affluence! by adeakeem(op): 5:58am On Jan 27, 2015
Pot belly is a term commonly used to refer to abdominal or central obesity, a condition in which there is an outward protrusion of the belly; or an increased diameter of the lower abdomen, resulting from excessive accumulation of fat in the mid-section and a ballooning out of the intestines.

It is a health hazard that is viewed in our environment as evidence of arrival of wealth or good living.

Obesity, as a broad term, refers to a Body Mass Index above 30 and is fast becoming an epidemic in the modern world. It is one of the leading direct and indirect causes of ill health and death among the general population all over the world.

A pot belly results from continuous deposit and accumulation of fat tissue in the inner organs and the intestines, to such a degree as to have negative impact on the general health of the individual concerned.

Often, a build-up of toxic fecal matter in the colon over time also contributes to ever-widening abdominal girth, which is labelled ‘pot belly.’ The Austrian scientist and holistic physician, Dr. Franz Xaver Mayr, describes the resulting abnormal posture of such individual as “the big bass drum player” posture.

It is worthy of note that abdominal obesity is not necessarily peculiar to overweight or obese individuals, as people with apparent normal weight may have unhealthy abdominal girth/ waistline and would therefore be regarded as having a pot belly.

It is equally worthy of note that abdominal fat in obesity is far more dangerous to general health than fat found under the skin and fat found in skeletal muscles.

Health hazards of pot belly

Abdominal obesity has been linked to several health conditions, including hypertension, Metabolic Syndrome X (Reaven’s disease), Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease, Polycystic Ovary Syndrome, erectile dysfunction, certain cancers, stroke, and Alzheimer’s disease.

Generally, the causes of obesity also factor in as causes of pot belly/abdominal obesity, and they include:

Diet: The way most people eat is at odds with the needs of the body. Obesity often results from net energy imbalance, in which the individual eats and stores more fat than s/he expends in energy on normal daily activities. Improper dietary habit as regards regimen (time of day when meals are ingested), content (quality of ingested food) and technique (poor chewing habits, especially the so called ‘swallow’) result in fermentation and decay of undigested food, steady deposit of abdominal fat and slackening of the intestines which, over time, results in a pot belly.

Genetic predisposition: Some individuals are said to be deficient in leptin – a hormone produced by fat cells which tells a person when he or she is full and should top eating. When you are deficient in leptin, you are more likely to overeat and become obese.

Cushing’s syndrome: This is a hormonal disorder caused by high levels of cortisol, with symptoms such as upper body obesity, rounded face, increased fat around the neck, thinning arms and legs, fatigue, weakness, high blood pressure, and mood disorders.

Medications: Steroids, such as dexamethasone.

Chronic constipation/irregular bowel movement: This leads to build-up of toxic fecal matter in the colon, the decomposition of which leads to release of such toxins as putrescine, neurine and cadaverine. These are re-absorbed into the blood stream in a process referred to as intestinal auto-intoxification in Mayr medicine.

Detoxification helps

Detoxification is the physiologic or medicinal removal of toxic substances from the body of a living organism. In humans, detoxification is chiefly carried out by the liver and to a lesser degree, the skin, kidneys and lungs. However, in people with abdominal obesity, the liver is often overworked and over-loaded, hence the need for detoxification.

Such individuals usually require an overhauling of their dietary habit, thorough cleansing of the intestines using medical solutions and herbal teas, the colon through colon hydrotherapy and irrigation; as well as toning up of the inevitably slack guts which put pressure on the pelvic organs and the spine, using the technique of Mayr abdominal therapy. These can be achieved via supervised detoxification.

Detoxification also rids the intestines of parasites and worms which contribute to ill health and death. Combined with relaxation and regimented physical exercise, detoxification helps to:

Lose excess weight/fat. The individual undergoing detoxification soon observes a steady weight loss, which is most noticeable around the mid-section. This is because fat in the internal organs is more metabolically active and gets broken down faster than fat in the tissues.

Instill a healthy eating habit which arms the individual with lifelong knowledge of correct diet, proper chewing techniques and regular exercise/relaxation methods.

Greatly reduce a person’s risk of developing cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, infertility and other conditions that have been linked with pot belly.

Improve physical appearance and skin tone. A person’s physical appearance is often a good indicator of their state of health. Detoxification helps improve skin tone and generally beautify physical appearance.

Engender personal confidence, inner peace and feeling of well-being. It is recommended that people should annually rid the body of toxins in a health therapy protocol.

AKINWUNMI AMBODE

INTRODUCTION

Akinwunmi Ambode (born June 14, 1963) is an accountant, an administrator and a public finance management expert. He is the Chief Executive Officer of Brandsmiths Consulting Limited – a firm that specializes in public sector finance management. Ambode was formerly the Accountant-General of Lagos State, Nigeria, and held many sensitive financial positions in the Lagos State government in a 27-year career in the Lagos State Civil Service. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) and a Member of the Nigerian Institute of Management. He is the founder of La Roche Leadership Foundation, a non-profit organization focused on developing the next generation of leaders. He is married to Bolanle Patience Ambode (nee Odukomaiya) and they are blessed with children.

EARLY LIFE AND EDUCATION

Akinwunmi was born on June 14, 1963 at the Epe General Hospital, Epe, Lagos, as the sixth of ten children. His late father, Festus Akinwale Ambode was a teacher while his mother, Christianah Oluleye Ambode (nee Oresanya) was an entrepreneur who ran a thriving sewing business in her prime. In 1967, when Akin was still four years old, his father moved to the mainland part of Lagos with the family and continued his teaching career until his death in 1981. Akinwunmi Ambode began his education at St. Jude’s Primary School, Ebutte Meta, Lagos, Nigeria in 1969. In 1974, while still in Primary 5, he sat for the National Common Entrance Examinations and was admitted to Federal Government College, Warri in the same year.

Ambode spent 7 years in Warri, where he completed his Ordinary and Advanced Levels and had the distinction of achieving the second best result in all of West Africa in the Higher School Certificate Examinations in 1981. He was on the school’s Hockey and Cricket teams and was part of the then Bendel State Cricket team while still a student.

Ambode proceeded to University of Lagos where he studied Accounting, graduating at the age of 21 in 1984. He completed his mandatory[National Youth Service Corps year serving with the Central Bank of Nigeria, Sokoto, Sokoto State, where he started his relationship with the Public Service.

CIVIL SERVICE CAREER

After his NYSC year, Ambode commenced his career at the Lagos State Waste Disposal Board (now LAWMA) as Accountant Grade II. He enrolled for Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) exams and at the same time was awarded a Federal Government Scholarship to pursue a Masters Degree in Accounting at the University of Lagos. By the time he was 24, Ambode had qualified as a Chartered Accountant and had completed his Masters Degree programme in Accounting, specializing in Financial Management.

His career was fast-tracked and in 1988, Akinwunmi Ambode was appointed the Assistant Treasurer, Badagry Local Government. In 1991, he was posted to Shomolu Local Government as Auditor. He was later deployed to Alimosho Local Government as Council Treasurer. Ambode was posted back to Shomolu as Council Treasurer and later on to Mushin Local Government as Council Treasurer. He criss-crossed many Local Government Councils in different roles in a 10-year period and got a first-hand experience of the direct impact of governance on the citizenry.

In 1998, Ambode was awarded the US Fulbright Scholarship for the Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship program, in Boston University, Massachusetts, USA. His Fellowship Year was spent studying Public Leadership with emphasis on Finance and Accounting. During this programme Ambode had professional internships at The Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, the Cabinet Office of Administration and Finance (Governor’s Office), City of Boston Treasury Office as well as with the World Bank and IMF.

On his return from the programme, Ambode became acting AuditorGeneral for Local Government. This position was confirmed by the State House of Assembly in 2001.

In January 2005, Ambode was redeployed to mainstream public service as the permanent secretary of the Ministry of Finance. By February 2006, Ambode was given the added responsibility ofaccountant general for Lagos State, in charge of all the financial activities of the state and directly responsible for over 1400 accountants in the state service. Under his watch, the State Treasury Office (STO) revolutionized the way Lagos State finances were raised, budgeted, managed and planned. In his six years as the Lagos State accountant general, the state's financial performance improved visibly with the budget performing at a remarkable average of 85% annually. Ambode believes that "public financial management is about ensuring that public money is well spent and it is made to stretch as far as possible. It provides leaders and public-sector managers with information to make decisions and to know if they are using resources effectively.

SOCIAL ENGAGEMENT

Ambode is a very active member of the Federal Government College, Warri Old Students Association (FEGOCOWOSA) and is credited with revitalizing the Lagos branch of the Association. Ambode was a two-time chairman of the Lagos State Branch, and, until recently, was the National President of the Association, a position he held for three years. In those three years, he executed key projects in the school in conjunction with the alumni network to improve the educational and living standards of the students.

THE PUBLIC FINANCE CONSULTANT

After 27 years in the civil service, Ambode voluntarily retired in August 2012. He founded Brandsmiths Consulting Limited to provide Public Finance and Management Consulting services to government at all levels, its parastatals and agencies. Brandsmiths, in collaboration withPrice Waterhouse Coopers, has trained government accountants and finance personnel to prepare them for the cut-over to the International Public Sector Accounting System (IPSAS) which is to become effective in 2015.

COMMUNITY SERVICE

His belief in mentoring and passion for passing on leadership skills gave birth to La Roche Leadership Foundation, which he founded in 2012. This is a non-profit organization that has a mandate to develop the educational and leadership skills of young Nigerians, to inculcate in them leadership values as a way of grooming future leaders in all spheres of life. La Roche is presently spearheading an initiative, ‘The Flags Project’, to install Nigerian and Lagos State flags in all government owned schools in Lagos State. The Foundation has also donated tools to technical colleges to support training of artisans.

PoliticsDele Momodu Predicts 2015 Presidential Election by adeakeem(op): 11:34am On Oct 29, 2014
To many Nigerians, both home and abroad, Dele Momodu is known as a Nigerian Journalist, Publisher, actor, motivational speaker and businessman who owns the renowned Ovation International, a magazine that has given publicity to people in Africa and all over the World.

What many people do not know about the 54-year old publisher born in Ile-Ife, Osun State, western Nigeria on 16 May, 1960 is that he is also a political analyst.

To this end, Momodu, who graduated from the University of Ife, (now Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife) in 1982 with a degree in Yoruba and a Masters degree in English Literature in 1988, writes a weekly article called PENdulum on the back page of Thisday newspaper.

Gen. Buhar and President Jonathan.

The articles are praised for highlighting issues in Nigeria, as well as discussing popular topics, current events and famous people.

In one of his latest articles, Momodu predicted how votes will be shared between former Head of State, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari and incumbent President Goodluck Jonathan come 2015 presidential elections in Nigeria.

According to the Momodu, if Nigerians are asked to elect their president today, Buhari would defeat President Jonathan mercilessly.

Below is how Dele Momodu arrived at this conclusion:

“Fellow Nigerians, time changes everything indeed. In 2011, I would have said worse things about General Muhammadu Buhari. In truth, I actually wrote Buhari off completely, not without cogent reasons that I considered valid and relevant at that time. The first was that Buhari was too old to lead us.

I was biased by the Obama Presidency and the emergence of David Cameron in Britain. I felt Buhari as a former dictator should be totally expunged from the race. I was also brainwashed by the relentless propaganda that he was a religious fundamentalist of the worst kind. If I was good in Fine Arts, I would have painted him in the lurid and monstrous image of Lucifer. That was how bad it was.

Trust me, I’m supposed to be one of the most liberal and tolerant human beings but it was just difficult for me to accept Buhari as a Presidential candidate at this time and age. I nearly clashed with my dear friend and brother, Simon Kolawole, after reading an article he had penned on Buhari and practically endorsing him at that time. I was so livid that I did not wait for Simon to get out of church before I started bombarding his lines with frenetic calls. When he eventually got back to me, and in his usual humble manner said “Egbon, I missed your calls, hope all is well?” I responded that all was not well as he had spoilt my appetite and breakfast that morning with his effusive praise of someone I considered a red-faced tyrant.

Simon was as cool as cucumber. He was incredibly blunt as he instantly confessed his unrepentant love, admiration and support for Buhari…

The federal government should swallow her shame and bring back professor Barth Nnaji as the minister of power to address this mess in power. History will never forgive president GEJ for failling this low even in the power sector. What was supposed to be his prime legacy has degenerated to such a low level unseen with his predesessors in government. VP sambo and Dangote have stolen power from Nigerians. By the time Buhari is sworn in next year President GEJ would have learnt a lesson that he will never have any other opportunity to correct. The only constant in GEJs administration is treating his IGBO loyalist with disdain. BRING BACK PROF BARTH NNAJI TO POWER SECTOR OR CHECK OUT OF ASO ROCK NEXT YEAR

Is this a reason why Jonathan should be re-elected? all we’ve heard since he assumed office has been perpetual drop in power generation. The man ought to have done at least one thing that we can point to as his achievement. It doesn’t matter how much lie Reuben Abati tells, Nigerians are experiencing the reality. Please vote this nonentity out of office. He’s of no good.

The failure in power generation is a clear indication of the irresponsibility and non competence of the PDP 16 years led administration. This is very shameful! I wonder the courage with which GEJ comes out to address Nigerians. Sometimes I wonder if these incapacitated illiterates interested only in looting are aware of what is happening in Nigeria. A very shameful thing that Nigeria could not generate a thousand megawatts in four years. The interest of our president is buying of opposition governors and woeing OBJ. I am a Christian from the south east. I swear that nothing will stop me from voting Buhari with all my family members. Nigeria at the moment has no leader. We only have a puppet without backbone.

Ikenwe
Excuses Excuses and Excuses!!!, More than 4 years of GEJ leadership and yet power supply continues to dwindled despite huge funding. What a shame. The Minister of Power instead of resigning as will be expected in the “real world” can continue to blame whoever or whatever he likes for the failure of Government’s to provide Power for Economic growth. I am surprised they have not started blaming APC and Boko Haram yet for the lower Energy generated.

I just wonder what legacy GEJ will leave behind as it winds up cause it is getting clearer to even his ardent fans that, based on performance this Government does not deserve a return ticket.

APC, Nigerians are waiting for you to show the right leadership and we hope you can step up your game!!!

Buhari/Fashola/Osho/Rochas
Am sure Bath Nnaji would probably be rolling on the floor in a rib-cracking laughter right now. When excellent and performance-oriented men are not given enough room to spearhead a positive cause such as revitalizing the power sector due to some selfish and nefarious interests, this is what you get. EPILEPSY AND JAUNDICED ELECTRICITY…….How can true development come if by now, we are still grappling with generating electricity or is this BOKO HARAM AND APC’S handiwork too? Am sure some people would quickly start reminding me of how much was expended during OBJ’s tenure with nothing to show for it but did GEJ not know that before saying he will solve electricity issues withing 3 years? ABEG NA CLUELESS GO, CLUELESS COME. MAKE PDP JUST COMMOT ABEG WE DON TIRE.

JJ
A good example of Jonathan transformation. And he still has the audacity to ask for our votes. I dey laugh o. We have clowns in government.

Apc caused the power generations drop.

Koko
It’s unfortunate that the minister of power will be using the excuse of pipeline vandalism to justify lack of power supply in Nigeria. A renowned professor that he is, he should know that gas is not the only source of power generation. More so, Nigeria has more than one big hydro dams for power generation. Why are they not working? What about coal power plant in Enugu? What has become of Egbin thermal power plant in Lagos? These are other sources of power general available in Nigeria. Why are they not working? To say that the reason for drop in MW generation is due to pipeline vandalism is ridiculous and shameful. The simple reason for drop in power generation is shear selfishness of those ruling Nigeria. The question one need to ask is, id there power supply in ASO villa? Is there power supply in legislative quarters and ministers’ quarters even with this drop in generation? Obviously yes, they all have power supply over there, but the people they are governing are languishing in utter darkness every day. A true leader will sacrifice his ease and convenience for the satisfaction of those he’s leading. That is not the case in Nigeria. In Nigeria, it is the leaders (rulers) who have the best of everything. This is the reason everything in Nigeria is lopsided as it is today.

Abiola
I beggggyyyyyy. Na A.P.C. no let us get light now…….. Shioor, yeye people…….Small time now they will start to blame the opposition… I beg make february come make the good people of Nigeria sweep these yeye people out of Aso Rock Villa……Case closed…..

when you see hear Jerry Gana is one of the owners of Disco and you look at the list of the other investors, you know there is no hope for steady power in Nigeria. You sold power infrastructure to private people, you still keep putting tax payers money in those infrastructures and citizens pays 702 naira every month as fixed charge every month, then estimated billings, you ask yourself what has changed, nothing, what they simply did what Winners take all, share all, loot all. PoliticsPower Generation Drops By 1,000MW To 2,513MW by adeakeem(op): 6:21am On Oct 21, 2014
The current epileptic supply of electricity being experienced across many parts of the country is as a result of the massive drop in generated power by 1,000 megawatts in the last one week, the Federal Government has said.

Figures released by the Federal Ministry of Power showed that the country’s peak generation as of October 15, 2014 was 3,513.5MW, against a peak demand of 12,800MW.

It, therefore, means that the country is currently generating about 2,500MW.

Many Nigerians have in the last one week decried the poor supply of electricity and criticised the power firms for not living up to expectation since the sector was privatised last year.

The Minister of Power, Prof. Chinedu Nebo, had during a recent unscheduled visit to the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company charged the management of the firm to, as a matter of urgency, address the epileptic power supply in the entire Federal Capital Territory and its environs.

But speaking in Abuja on Monday, the minister said the poor electricity supply across the country in the past one week was due to the 1,000MW drop in power generation.

Nebo said this during the Presidential Expert Group Meeting on Infrastructure Ranking and Scorecard Roadmap organised by the Nigerian Society of Engineers.

The minister, who attributed the drop to the menace of gas pipeline vandalism said, “We want to be very sure that this is nipped in the bud with regards to gas supply and we are doing everything possible to minimise the incidences of vandalism.

“Now, look at what vandalism has cost us; nearly 1,000MW of power in the past one week on a daily basis. And this means that every Nigerian is cringing in pain because of the loss.”

Earlier, during the meeting proper, Nebo explained that two major gas plants were severely affected and this had warranted the fall in electricity generation.

He said, “Recently within the past week, the Okoloma gas plant has been down due to sabotage, blowing up and vandalism of three of its wellheads, and then robbing Shell of the capacity to deliver over 180mscuf of gas on a daily basis. When you translate this, you are talking of over 720MW of power that is stalled for the past several days.

“So, that really caused our power generation transmission and distribution to dwindle. And the NPDC is also having challenges because of old gas generating plants that quite often the components are either due for repair or for maintenance. And some of these parts are not readily available but these things need to be changed.

“That has also knocked off nearly 80mscuf of gas. When you add this to what we have lost in Shell, you will see why we have dropped 1,000MW in the past several days. That will show you what gas can do and our continued dependence on gas as our major source of energy to our power plants is really a national security issue.”

Nebo said it had come to the notice of the Federal Government that some electricity distribution companies were rejecting the power being sold to them.

He gave an assurance that the government would not hesitate to penalise culpable power firms and stated that his ministry was working out ways of ensuring that non-defaulters in the payment of electricity bill did not suffer with those who failed to pay their bills.

The minister said, “With regard to some of our distribution companies, we want to ensure that best practices are incorporated in their delivery services. For instance, we hear that there are some Discos that actually reject power that is being given to them and this is unacceptable in an economy where everybody is asking for power.

“We also want to be sure that people are properly metered and are not cut off unnecessarily. For instance, even me as minister of power, when some of the other ministries don’t pay for electricity, all of us are cut off at the same time. So, we have to cringe in pain too and that is not because we didn’t pay, we paid. But if somebody else has not paid, all of us are affected one way or the other.

“So, we need to find a very systematic way of making sure that people pay what they ought to pay and when they don’t pay they are penalised and others who have paid are not affected. There should be no collateral damage for neighbours simply because somebody has refused to comply.”

On the reason for the meeting, the President, NSE, Mr. Ademola Olorunfemi, said the scorecard and ranking system would ensure the adequate monitoring and evaluation of the nation’s infrastructure stock.

HealthEbola-positive Nurse Passed Away This Morning - Relatives by adeakeem(op): 1:43pm On Aug 14, 2014
A nurse, Obi Justina Ejelonu, who attended to Patrick Sawyer, a Liberian-American Ebola carrier who brought the disease to Nigeria, has died this morning in Lagos.

According to SaharaReporters, Obi Justina Ejelonu’s relatives called the reporters to announce that she passed away this morning in a quarantine facility in Lagos.

Until her death, the outspoken nurse was at the center of a campaign to get the Zmapp experimental drugs to Ebola victims in Nigeria. John Okiyi-Kalu started the Internet campaign a few days ago.

Ms. Ejelonu was one of the primary contacts with Patrick Sawyer at a Lagos Hospital where he received treatment after he was rushed from the Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos where he collapsed. She was aged 25, her relatives said.

Last week, Health Minister Prof. Onyebuchi Chukwu, confirmed that a nurse who was in contact with Sawyer has become the one of the first victims of Ebola who died after the disease was brought to Nigeria.

HealthThose Claiming To Have Cure For Ebola Will Be Arrested – NAFDAC by adeakeem(op): 9:44pm On Aug 04, 2014
The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Monday warned that the agency is set to clampdown on people making false claims that they have products that can cure Ebola virus disease.

The Director – General of the agency, Dr. Paul Orhii who gave the warning in Lagos restated that Ebola virus disease has no cure for now and there is no definite drug that can cure the disease.

Reacting to alleged rumours of online advertisement for Ebola drugs and cure said NAFDAC will not take lightly any such advertisement of a disease that is currently ravaging the West African countries.

Orhii warned that anybody making false claims that he or she has products that can cure Ebola virus disease (EVD) to stop it or face the wrath of the law.

“The honourable Minister of Health, Professor Onyebuchi has stated categorically that there is no cure yet for Ebola

He lamented that unscrupulous people are trying to take advantage of the EVD outbreak in the region to deceive vulnerable people by making claims that they have a remedy for the disease.

He said those who claim they possess a cure for Ebola should do so only after it has been certified. “They should go through the normal ‘scientific’ process,” he added.

He said for now, EVD has no known cure adding that “It would be a good thing if the cure is found in Nigeria but things must be done according to lay down rules.”

“Nigerians are desperate and will be ready to buy anything if they have the virus. If anyone has a cure let him come to the agency. We will follow up but we are not going to allow anybody to take advantage of the sick. We will arrest anybody found making false claims.”
