Honourable Minister of State for Youth Development, Olawande Emmanuel Ayodele , has requested collaboration with the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) to drive an inclusive digital skill acquisition for Nigerian youth.

The Minister assured of his commitment towards facilitating the pilot phase of #Digital4All at all NYSC orientation camps, which he described as a good place to commence the implementation of the initiative.

Earlier, the Director General of NITDA, Kashifu Inuwa, shared the agency's strategic commitment to achieving the Renewed Hope Agenda in the information and technology space through sustainable inclusion, diversification, increased productivity and human capacity building. He also presented the Agency's action plan for achieving 70% Digital Literacy by 2027 and the impending launch of the Digital for All (D4All) initiative.

APC aspirant, Akinterinwa, pledges business-friendly Ondo if elected

The immediate past Commissioner for Finance in Ondo, Mr Wale Akinterinwa, has reiterated his commitment towards creating a business-friendly environment to attract local and foreign investments and turn the state into an economic hub.

Apart from this, Akinterinwa promised to introduce policies and initiatives that would encourage entrepreneurship, attract investments and create employment opportunities for unemployed youths.

According to him, with the state’s longest coastline and deep sea port coupled with a very large land mass, the potential of the state would be explored and ranked among the economic viable state in terms of economic development.

In the early hours of today, Hon. Wale Akinterinwa, a prominent Gubernatorial aspirant, formally declared his intention to contest for the Governorship of Ondo State under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC). The declaration ceremony took place at the State Secretariat of the APC in Akure.

Accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Oluremi Akinterinwa, and a host of notable party leaders from across the 18 local Government areas of Ondo State, Hon. Akinterinwa was introduced to the State Working Committee (SWC) of the Party.

During the program, Barr. Ajisafe introduced Hon. Akinterinwa's campaign team, which included the Member of the House of Representatives representing Ile-Oluji/Odigbo and past commissioners in the state.

The Publicity Secretary of the Party and the State Chairman of the Party both introduced the State Working Committee members to Wale Akinterinwa and his team.

In his address, Hon. Wale Akinterinwa outlined his extensive educational career and political experience, spanning from Lagos to Ondo State. He passionately presented his plans for the development of Ondo State if elected as governor.

Akinterinwa suspends political activities in honour of Paul Akintelure

Leading governorship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the forthcoming gubernatorial election in Ondo state, Wale Akinterinwa, has suspended his political activities following the sudden death of fellow aspirant, Paul Akintelure.

Akinterinwa said his campaign activities, which was earlier planned to kick off today, Tuesday, March 26, 2024, with a praise worship at his his country home in Ile-Oluji, was suspended in honour of a friend and comrade.

"I am saddened by the news of the passing of a friend and comrade.

"Following this sad incident, I have decided to suspend all political activities of our campaign organisation.

"I pray God to console his family, friends and the APC in Ondo state and to give the fortitude to bear this great loss."

Interfaces with Ondo Retired Permanent Secretaries.

The Association of Retired Permanent Secretaries, Retired Senior Civil Servants, Ondo state chapter today hosted another Governorship Aspirant on the APC platform, Mr Wale Akinterinwa as part of the interface ahead of the November 16, 2024 gubernatorial election in the state.

Akinterinwa, while speaking during the interactive session on Thursday in Akure, the state capital, said one of his intentions to run was to focus more on the agriculture in order to address the issue of food crisis in the state.

According to him, entrepreneurship, industrialization through the employment of Ondo teeming youths, setting up of more agencies, development of tourists centres among others would be given priority if given the opportunity to govern the state.

Akinterinwa said; “my focus will be slightly different from other aspirants, I will really focus more on agriculture, the truth is that today we are all hungry, we have the land mass, we are naturally farmers in our different communities.

“We are going to be very intentional about agriculture, it’s not going to be business as usual, the intervention funds that we can access in the area of agriculture is huge and we are going to be very radical about it. We are going to design programmes and bring in investors.

“We are going to be very radical in partnering with the investors because the land is ours, we all know that agriculture is the major employer of labour and we have a lot of young people all over the places roaming about the streets with no employment. The truth is that if they are well encouraged our society will be better of.

“So we are going to focus on agriculture and ensure that the whole chain is addressed. We are talking about processing from farm to the market and beyond the market. We must be looking for export opportunity for our products and government will be willing to support.

“We will ensure that farmers don’t suffer anymore, we must address this issue of food crisis in our state. There are lots of investors who are willing to put there money into agriculture. It would be my duty to be the Chief Marketing Officer of this state (if elected the governor) to let people know what we can offer and we cannot do it alone.

“So we are going to do a lot of promoting Ondo state all over the world and let people know that we are here to do a lot. We must position ourselves to take the advantage of what the digitalized to offer.

“We are going to do a lot on entrepreneurship also, we must approach it from a different perspective. We must budget for it the way we budgeted for road. We must create more employment through industrialization and indirectly the IGR will be improved.

“We cannot have economic development without security, we must provide a very serious adequate security in our forests, I will not be sitting down in my office to sign files, I will rule Ondo state according to the laws of the land, we will develop our women and youths and we all have a lot to offer this state.”

Prince Fioye Bajowa, the President, Association of Retired Permanent Secretaries, Retired Senior Civil Servants, who spoke on behalf of other members, said the group took a decision as elder statemen and women who have seen it all, to identify the capability of all aspirants who want to lead the state.

“We put this association in place to act as critical stakeholders in the development of Ondo state, we don’t want our people to make mistakes this time around and that is why that all those that have expressed their interest to govern the state have been invited for this interactive session.

“What we can say about Wale Akinterinwa is that he is honest about his intention, we have seen him as honest man, but the whole judgement is in the hand of Ondo state people.”

*Olawande commends the launch of OSNI*

*....Describes it as a significant boost to the NIYA initiative of the Youth Ministry.*

The Minister of State for Youth Development, Mr. Ayodele Olawande has commended the launch of the Outsource to Nigeria Initiative (OSNI) by Vice President Kashim Shettima, adding that it would offer a great boost to the ongoing efforts to curb youth unemployment in the country through the soon-to-be launched Nigerian Youth Academy (NiYA).


Olawande, who gave the commendation today in Abuja, said
the Nigerian Youth Academy, initiated by the Federal Ministry of Youth Development, is aimed at training youths in market driven skills that will empower them to contribute significantly to the economic development of the country


Performing the launch in Gombe on Monday, the Vice President noted that the OTNI is a strategic initiative to redirect the talents and skills that abound in the country and to deliver millions of job opportunities.


"Today, we are not just presenting to you the Outsource to Nigeria Initiative (OTNI) with the honourable aim of taking over the world; we present to you a lens to see the needs of the world, a bridge to interact with the world, and a vehicle to reach the world from the comfort of your offices and homes in Nigeria," the Vice President had said.


Speaking further on the launch which he described as *"another huge step in the fight against youth unemployment,"* the Minister said the OTNI would now offer a more extensive platform for the utilization of the skills and talents that the NIYA would spring.


According to him, *"What we are planning to do with the Nigerian Youth Academy (NiYa) is to provide free training in all high-demand skill areas, and to also make the platform a meeting point for all the youths we train and employers who wish to engage their services. OTNI has just expanded the opportunities we hope to deliver with NiYA."*


Olawande, who said many youths in Nigeria would soon have no excuse to remain idle, emphasized that OTNI's digital platform, WorkNation, with the objective of helping partners find, train and deploy talents, would greatly expand the reach and impact of NIYA.

*'Let's put party affiliations aside and build this country,' Ayodele tells Akwa Ibom Youths*

Honorable Minister of State for Youth Development, Mr. Ayodele Olawande has challenged youths to put political differences aside and unite to build up Nigeria.


The Minister, who gave the charge while addressing a group of youths in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, said he was in the state in continuation of his engagement with young people across the country.


"I know this is a PDP state, but it is now time for governance and not politics. It is time we put aside party affiliations in order to build Nigeria.


"Like I said yesterday during the engagement with fellow youths in Cross River State, my message here this afternoon will be the same. It's time young people prioritize skill acquisition if we must bury the monster of unemployment bedeviling our generation," the Minister said.


Hon. Olawande also stated that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration is devoted to youth development, noting that the President has shown his commitment by given the youths a significant space in his government as a demonstration of his belief in the talent and value of an average Nigerian young person.


He emphasized the need for the youth to leave party differences aside and focus on making sure their generation justify the perennial quest for inclusion through the success of their representatives in leadership positions, and the government they serve.


Reiterating his emphasis on skill acquisition, the Minister said, “The fundamental responsibility we have now is to support this government, we must be ready to benefit from various opportunities that are available to the youths, especially in the areas of Skill acquisition. We must also plan to learn as many skills as possible because it is our most valued asset towards nation-building. Like I say, everywhere I go, it would be a sin for any Nigerian youth not to have a minimum of 2 skills."


The Minister, during the engagement, interacted with various youth bodies in the state, including religious youth groups, student association, youth artisans, among others.


Hon. Olawande who later had a private audience with the state Governor, Mr. Umo Eno also extended his goodwill message to Corps members at the Akwa-Ibom NYSC Orientation Camp.

In a turn of events as we approached the Ondo State gubernatorial primaries in April 2024, all the 18 Local Government Areas youth leaders and the 3 senatorial youth leaders in Ondo State declared their unalloyed support for Mr. Wale Akinterinwa.

The event which took place at the country home of Mr. Wale Akinterinwa in Ile oluji, southern senatorial district in Ondo State had in attendance all the 18 Local government youth leaders and the 3 senatorial district youth leaders who bore their minds on current political happening in the state.

The governorship hopeful and leading aspirant in the Ondo Guber race, Mr. Wale Akinterinwa expressed his appreciation for the visit and also advised, encouraged and motivated the youth leaders. The Honourable Minister of State for Youth Development, Mr. Ayodele Olawande has initiated a partnership talk between the United Nation’s Office on Drug and Crime (UNODC) and the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) towards checkmating the problem of drug abuse among youth. The meeting, which held at the NYSC headquarters in Maitama, Abuja, was a follow up to an earlier discussion between the Minister and the Country Representative of UNODC, Mr. Oliver Stolp.

The Minister, who introduced the UNODC Country Representative to the NYSC management team led by the Director General, Brigadier General YD Ahmed; said he was hopeful that the proposed partnership would explore the prospect of deploring corps members as ready volunteers in the battle to rid Nigerian youth of drug and substance abuse.

While the UNODC Country Representative, Mr. Stolp, took time to present some of the ongoing projects of his office aimed at reducing the prevalence of drug abuse in Nigeria, calling on the NYSC management to accede to the request for partnership; the Director General of NYSC, Brig. General Ahmed assured that the NYSC, which has an existing partnership with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), would be willing to explore every partnership options to ensure the menace of drug abuse among youth is curbed. The two bodies thereafter agreed to set up a joint team to work out the details of the partnership.
