Challenge the Post No Debit Order on Your Bank Accounts in Court, Akeredolu tells #EndSars Promoters

Says "CBN can freeze any account on court order but the court of law is there to de-freeze same accounts"

Maxwell Adeyemi Adeleye
Wednesday 11th November, 2020

The Governor of Ondo State and a former President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Mr. Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, on Wednesday advised some supporters of recent EndSARS Protest whose Bank Accounts were frozen by the Central Government of Nigeria through the Central Bank (CBN) to challenge the matter in court if they feel their accounts was unlawfully frozen or they were unjustly accused.

Akeredolu, who is the Chairman of the Western Nigeria Governors Forum, said the CBN acted in line with the provisions of the law to freeze the accounts, but the owners of the account should approach the court to challenge the decision by proven that the accusations slammed against them by the CBN to warrant the freezing of their accounts, are misguided and fallacious.

Speaking when he was a guest on Channels TV Breafast Show, Sunrise Daily, the Owo Born legal luminary who recently secured another term in office, urged the account owners to table their bank transactions before the court and explain the motives of their transactions to disclaim the allegations of the CBN that they were promoting terrorism.

“Speaking very honestly, I don’t see anything wrong in it. If for instance, my account was frozen, what would I do? All I would do is go back to court to explain. The #EndSARS promoters should do that.

"Even politicians, their accounts are sometimes frozen. You have to go to court and explain. And at the end of the day, the court will say, ‘Leave the account. The account should be de-frozen’ and you take your money back.

“If your account is frozen, you justify why the money was there. You come to explain to what use you have put this money.

“If it is that ‘okay, we used this money to pay this caterer to give food to these boys when they were there. We spent money between before the hoodlums took over,’ it will be explained, people will know and the accounts will be de-frozen.

Akeredolu equally downplayed insinuations that the protesters are being charged for a treasonable offence.

“It is just that we (CBN) suspected this account then the owner of the account will explain,” he said, stressing that it “is not a conclusion that those accounts were used for acts of treason.”

Some of the EndSars Supporters whose accounts were frozen include Bolatito Racheal Oduala, Chima David Ibebunjoh, Mary Doose Kpengwa, Saadat Temitope Bibi, Bassey Victor Israel, Wisdom Busaosowo Obi, Nicholas Ikhalea Osazele, Ebere Idibie, Akintomide Lanre Yusuf, Uhuo Ezenwanyi Promise and Mosopefoluwa Odeseye.

Others are Adegoke Pamilerin Yusif. Umoh Grace Ekanem, Babatunde Victor Segun, Mulu Louis Teghenan, Mary Oshifowora, Winifred Akpevweoghene Jacob, Victor Solomon, Idunu A. Williams, and Gatefield Nigeria Limited.

PoliticsMimiko Does Not Have Moral Rectitude To Judge Gov. Akeredolu Lead Government by adebayoabiola(op): 7:34am On Aug 20, 2020
*MIMIKO DOES NOT HAVE MORAL RECTITUDE TO JUDGE GOV. AKEREDOLU LEAD GOVERNMENT- CONCERNED CITIZEN*

It is quite disheartening to hear and read  the immediate past governor of Ondo state, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko trolls at Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN, over the health sector he left in comatose. He should not forget that his eight(cool years was in saddle, the people of Ondo state suffered great decadence in every sector, including, the health which ought to have been given adequate and sincere attention for obvious fact that it is his profession, but we did get his best. No, we did not!

How can Mimiko, therefore mutter courage and confidence to accuse Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN with uncharitable labelling. A man who left the civil servants to wallow in abject poverty and penury, over unpaid salaries and allowances for seven (7)months and more..? Mimiko was quoted to have called Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN "unprogressive". This is incredibly sad! gut

Between Mimiko who owe workers Seven months and Akeredolu who offset an accumulated debt even with a thin purse he inherited, who is unprogressive?
Let us not also forget, the said health sector, in 2017, members of the National Association of Government and General Medical practitioners in Ondo State embarked on industrial strike for morethan six months. Protesting against unpaid salaries, poor medical facilities and failed equipments purchased through unprofessional contractors. Until the emergence of Governor Akeredolu who Mimiko called unprogressive, a legal practitioner per se, saw the need for upgrade in the Medical sector. He paid off all accumulated debt, acquired medical facilities worth billions of Naira, rolled out employment opportunities for medical practitioners, upgraded the state general Hospital in Akure to A Teaching Hospital to accommodate medical Students from University of Medical Science Ondo and afterward, increased the number of Mother and Child Hospital from one which only existed in the Central Senatorial District to 5 which now spread across all the Senatorial districts of the State with free medical service for pregnant women and U-5 children.

I ask, again, who is unprogressive?

Now let us ask Mimiko, what legacy could be remembered of him after spending uninterrupted years as the governor of Ondo State for 8years. Some would say he invested in road construction, no doubt but that would have been applaudable if it were extended to all the nook and cranny of Ondo state like Gov. Akeredolu is doing. The people of Ikare Akoko would always be grateful to Akeredolu led government for leveling the dreaded Oke-Alagbojuto hill and construction of double lane on that abandoned site.

How about the first of its kind in Ondo State, the “Redemption Bridge” at Ore? The more reason why Mr. President, Mohammadu Buhari came in person to commission and also visited the industrial hub amidst other remarkable projects within the state.

Other innovative and brilliant work of Gov. Akeredolu are: 405.05KMs of road constructed in less than four years, Gov. Akeredolu is said to be the highest Governor in terms of road construction in the history of Ondo State in less than 4years. So far he has embarked on numerous lucrative but unprecedented projects for the benefit of the state and its citizens.
Mimiko’s wailing cannot make us forget how he deserted and turned our state into wilderness, especially the horrible activities in our universities, including OSUSTECH that was totally abandoned before Governor Akeredolu came onboard and resuscitated the facility yet here is Mimiko calling Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN "unprogressive" is unsavoury, wicked & unconscionable . He should not forget that we were aware of the flamboyant lifestyle he lived with his cohorts in charge of the university while the school run on two-hour power supply on daily basis to the detriment of students and staff.

As a matter of fact, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko does not have any moral right to judge Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu led government.  I will choose Governor Akeredolu over Mimiko a thousand times. His giant strides speak volume. Indeed a progressive leader has emerged, we have found an enigma in leadership. Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN is not the man to beat.

PoliticsAmotekun: No Criminal Element Shall Trouble Our Calm Water Again - Akeredolu by adebayoabiola(op): 8:37pm On Aug 11, 2020
..Says Thuggery, Criminality shall not be tolerated in the forthcoming election

Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN, has assured the people of the state that no criminal element shall trouble the relative peace enjoyed in the state, as the Ondo State Security Network Agency (Amotekun Corps) begins operation .

The Governor stressed that with a workable synergy among the leadership of the security agencies and that of Amotekun, a water-tight strategies capable of arresting crimes even before they occur would be deployed.

Arakunrin Akeredolu spoke at the Passing-Out Ceremony of the pioneer Amotekun Corps Officers in the state, held at the Gani Fawehinmi Freedom Arcade, Igbatoro Road, Akure, the state capital.

The Governor recalled that many people felt he was putting his second term ambition on the line when the Amotekun Corps was launched in Ibadan in January this year.

”And I told them, time and again, that my ambition is not worth the insecurities that our people are confronted with, where at some point, people were afraid of travelling out of the State.

“It was so horrible that marauders laid siege to the highways, as well as in the farmlands, waiting to kidnap or devour anyone in sight. With the launch of Amotekun, we resolved that it shall be no retreat, no surrender. We are not going to be intimidated or blackmailed,” Akeredolu said.

Governor Akeredolu, who expressed his readiness to champion the course of a better, safer and prosperous society and country, said he was determined not to pay lip service to the constitutional role of government, which is to seek the welfare and protection of the lives and property of the people.

He said: "It is incontrovertible that the existing security framework is being overstretched and we had to device a means of confronting the challenge of insecurity head-on. That was when the concept of Amotekun came up. As Yorubas, we are not known to surrender to our adversaries and if our forebears did not, we should not.

“On 4th March, this year, just two months after the launch of Amotekun in Ibadan, the Bill setting up the Corps was signed into law, after diligent and thorough work by the State House of Assembly. The import of this is that Amotekun Corps is now a legal entity not just the idea of an individual.

“As noted at the launch, it is not a parallel security structure to any of the security agencies. Rather, it is to complement what is on ground so that together they can achieve the goal of a safer environment, conducive enough to encourage foreign investors and rid our State of all forms of crime and criminally-minded elements.

The Governor also reassured the people that the forthcoming election in the State would be very peaceful, adding that the state will not tolerate any form of thuggery or criminality occasioned by elections.

Traditional rulers including the Olugbo of Ugbo, Oba Fedrick Obateru Akinrutan, Deji of Akure, Oba Aladetoyinbo Aladelusi, Olowo of Owo, Oba Ajibade Ogunoye and other prominent monarchs attended the event.

Heads of security agencies in the State as well as religious leaders and other stakeholders also graced the event.

PoliticsOndo 2020: Zlp State, Lg, Ward Excos Join Apc, Declare Support For Gov Akeredolu by adebayoabiola(op): 7:39am On Aug 10, 2020
The deputy state chairman of the Zenith Labour Party, Engineer Abayomi Adebayo, Organising Secretary, Hon Femi Ikoyi and scores of leaders of the party including ward chairmen and members of the party local government executives have dumped the party for the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The ZLP leaders said they left the party for the embattled and outgoing deputy Governor of the state, Agboola Ajayi who they said doesn't deserve their support.

The leaders said the defecting embattled deputy Governor will only meet shell in the party as the main engine room of the ZLP has moved to the APC.

According to the defectors, scores of officers of ZLP within the State Executive through the Local Governments to Wards and Units levels in the state have pulled out of the party's structure to declare unflinching support for the candidature of Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, ahead of the October 10, Governorship Election in the state.

Presenting the leaders of the group to Governor Akeredolu at the Government House, Akure, a member of the House of Representatives representing Akoko North East/ North West Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, said the performance of Governor Akeredolu across sectors has made his re-election a state wide project instead of limiting it to his party, the All Progressives Congress.

Hon Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo noted with utmost satisfaction the sincerity of purpose of Governor Akeredolu in governance as exemplified in the industrial, infrastructural and other life changing projects across the state.

"Governor Akeredolu has been tested by the people of this state and the people trust him. Regardless of party lines, he has impressed the people in terms of excellent performance, and that is why leaders from ZLP have come to declare their support for the governor", he stressed.

In his remarks the Deputy State Chairman of ZLP, Engineer Abayomi Adebayo said the uncommon approach of Governor Akeredolu to good governance endeared the group to the governor.

He said Arakunrin Akeredolu has greatly demonstrated respect for promises and shown that he is committed to the all-round development of Ondo State for the present and future generations to actualise their individual and collective dreams, marks him out as a leader to follow.

Also the State Organising Sectary of ZLP Hon Femi Ikoyi assured Governor Akeredolu of the desire of the group to add significant value to his re-election as Governor of Ondo State.

While describing the group as the political engine of ZLP in Ondo State, Hon Ikoyi stated categorically that with the other alliances the group is bringing to the table for Governor Akeredolu, the re-election of the governor is certainly a done-deal.

"We are the political engine of ZLP. Had someone is coming to Akure. Well if he comes he will meet only the shell", he said.

In his response, Governor Akeredolu appreciated the group and assured that none of them would regret their joining forces with him.

Arakunrin Akeredolu said he was humbled by the degree of support people of the state across political, religious and socioeconomic leanings have shown towards getting him reelected.

PoliticsOndo 2020 : Gov. Akeredolu Names Aiyedatiwa As Running Mate by adebayoabiola(op): 2:11pm On Jul 29, 2020
...Inaugurates Commissioner, Special Adviser

Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, has named Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa as his running mate for the October 10 governorship election in the state.

Governor Akeredolu said the leaders of the party made wide consultations to choose a suitable and qualified candidate as the Running Mate in the forthcoming gubernatorial election in the State.

In arriving at the choice of Aiyedatiwa, the Governor said some important factors assisted the leaders of the party, including the decision to sever ties with mediocrity and treachery.

While noting that the experiences of the immediate past must guide his decision, Akeredolu said a candidate with verifiable credentials and pedigree has been chosen to complete the last part of the gubernatorial race.

Identifying loyalty and honesty as the twin virtues needed to serve at the moment, Arakunrin Akeredolu said the people expect a fresh and dignifying breather from the choking rot of the immediate past.

The Governor said: "The general public has been treated to a cocktail of lies by those who recently disengaged from our administration, as well as those who were asked to step aside to allow those who displayed genuine passion to serve come on board.

"Their hirelings are busy spreading falsehood and maligning personalities on social media. You must have heard or read about the comedy of errors enacted by some erstwhile principal officers of this administration.

"Those who allege exclusion from governance have been unable to tell the people, in specific terms, how that happened. No political appointee is owed any salaries and allowances. Only those who came into office believing that political appointments would aid primitive acquisition of wealth have been disappointed. For us, it is good riddance to bad rubbish."

The Governor congratulated the new commissioner for Natural Resources, Hon. Idowu Otetubi and the Special Adviser on Entrepreneurship Development, while asking them to remain committed and steadfast to the service of the people.

PoliticsBitumen: Ondo’s Journey Of Hope. by adebayoabiola(op): 10:31am On Jul 29, 2020

Citadel Tower

To many, Bitumen exploration in Ondo state seems like one of those implausible election promises by some dubious politicians who woo people over through unrealistic promises. However, the case is different with Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN, of Ondo State, who over time is known for integrity and honesty.

Bitumen was formally discovered in Ondo State in 1904. This discovery has the capacity to transform the socio-economic of the state, but it was paid lips service by various government that has come and gone with excuses of inadequate financial muscle to see to the extraction of the mineral thereby leaving the derivable socio-economic benefits to degenerate.

But the present government, led by Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN, in line with his determination to see that major industries are situated in the state to alleviate teeming youths from unemployment, he began a journey into Bitumen exploration. Governor Akeredolu moved things beyond mere planning and mouthing of promises with the proof of the arrival of the equipment to commence the exploration of Bitumen in Ondo State by Southwest Bitumen Nigeria Limited.

This giant stride by Governor Akeredolu, has once again proven him worthy for the job. Ondo state would continue to move higher as long as it swims through the river of a man with a vision who is ready to actualize all the beautiful plans he has to stare Ondo State to a higher level in all ramification.

PoliticsAlleged Induced Lmpeachment Plot, Deputy Governor Lied -ondo Assembly. by adebayoabiola(op): 2:14pm On Jun 24, 2020
The Attention of Lawmakers in the Ondo State House of Assembly have been drawn to an online report that Members were given 10 Million Naira each as inducement to impeach the Deputy Governor,Mr Agboola Ajayi.

This allegation smacks of naivety on the part of the Deputy Governor and intended to cast aspersions on the noble image of members and drag the integrity of the House in the mud.

It is on this premise that we Honourable Members of the Ondo State House of Assembly state unequivocally that this is nothing but a blatant lie and politics taken too far, least expected of the caliber of the Deputy Governor of the Sunshine State.
But we are not surprised because he is a drowning man and he will hold on to anything to survive.
As Lawmakers and elected representatives of the people we are aware of efforts by Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu to reposition the state and make it enviable among her equals across the country even in the face of obvious dwindling resources.

How then can someone imagine the Honourable members to compromise their mark of honour all in the pursuit of selfish gains in this period of global recess which places daunting challenges on the economy of States around the world.

Much as we are not ready to trade words with anyone we are adequately aware of our constitutional rights and would never hesitate to exercise same when occasion demands for it.

We do not need any inducement of whatever kind from any quarters to exercise our constitutional responsibilities as elected representatives of the people.

To this end the body of Lawmakers of the Ondo State House of Assembly refute the allegation of 10 Million Naira each to facilitate the impeachment of the Deputy Governor.

We state unequivocally that this is nothing but a blatant lie only conceived in the imagination of Mr Agboola Ajayi who believes money is everything.

PoliticsOndo 2020: I’m Ready For APC Direct Primary Or Any Other System —akeredolu by adebayoabiola(op): 8:10am On May 31, 2020
Akeredolu Breaks Silence on Direct primary.

Ahead of the October 10, 2020 governorship election in Ondo state, the incumbent Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu at the weekend declared that he will be ready for any mode of primary election that will use to pick the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) during the primaries slated for July 20.

The governor also dismissed insinuation that he is afraid of direct primary system, noting that most of those advocating or clamouring for the direct primary election do not even have structures to win any contest in the party.

Akeredolu who spoke in Akure, the state capital through the state Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Donald Ojogo, said he is popular and had performed well to win any mode of primary election conducted by the APC.

Some of the Governorship Aspirants in the state including Hon Isaacs Kekemeke and the Unity Forum leadership chaired by former Deputy Governor, Alhaji Alli Olanusi had advocated the adoption direct primary system, claiming that it was a mode that will enable all APC members to choice the party’s candidate for the October 10 polls.

Addressing newsmen on behalf of the governor, Ojogo flanked by other members of the governor’s media team, pointed out that it was strange that some of the party’s chieftains who are parading themselves as governorship aspirants would not obtain nomination form while others were only known on social media.

The National Secretariat of the APC said it was yet to take a final decision on the mode of primaries to adopt in picking its Ondo State governorship candidate while Direct primary had been approved for Edo governorship primary slated for June, 2020.

Recall that the Independent National Electoral Commission had fixed the governorship elections in both Edo and Ondo states for September 19 and October 10, respectively.

Governor Akeredolu, who spoke on the latest development of the Covid-19 pandemic in the state, said water and soap must be provided at all entry points into the centres or halls of worship, while all worshipers must be made to wash their hands in the standard pattern approved and practised since the beginning of the pandemic.

The Governor further said Hand sanitizers must be provided and used by each worshipper at every entry point to the centres and at other convenient points within the premises, adding that all worshippers and workers inside the centres and within the premises must wear face masks properly for the duration of the service.

According to the Governor, Churches, Mosques and other religious centres must regularly decontaminate and sanitise the premises, facilities and equipment before and after the services.

Arakunrin Akeredolu said the government has placed appropriate machinery in motion to monitor and ensure that the guidelines are implemented to the letter.

He said cases of infringement, disregard or wilful neglect of these extant regulations will be considered as serious threat to the society and will be sanctioned.

He said:"Let me be more direct. Any Church, Mosque or worship centre which fails to obey the simple rule will be shut down immediately."

The Governor explained that out of the twenty-four confirmed cases recorded in the state, nineteen cases have been discharged after treatment, two death recorded while there are only three cases on admission receiving treatment at the Infectious Disease Hospital, Akure.

He said:" We have four more cases added to the 20 cases announced last week Monday, making a total of 24 cases. Among the additional four, only one was a case of interstate importation. It was a case of an individual of northern Nigeria extraction who travelled from Sokoto state to Ondo state.

"The second, third and fourth cases were those of community transmission. While the second case was discovered at Oluwatuyi Quarters, Akure and reported by the Federal Medical Centre Annex, Akure, the third case is an official of the Nigerian Correctional Services who is resident in Ijoka road, Akure. His case was reported by the University of Medical Sciences Teaching Hospital Akure complex.

"The fourth case was presented to the General Hospital Igbara Oke as a regular patient of flu, fever, cough and other symptoms similar to those of COVID-19. He died the same night he was brought to the hospital. Not leaving things to chances, our health workers ensured the corpse was tested for COVID-19 and the result came back positive.

"The corpse has since been buried in his hometown, Iragbiji, Osun State. Apart from contacting Osun State Government accordingly, we have activated a wide line tracing to arrest further infection and possible spread."

PoliticsPresident Buhari Receives Madagascan Covid-19 Herbal by adebayoabiola(op): 9:09pm On May 16, 2020
PRESIDENT BUHARI RECEIVES MADAGASCAN COVID-19 HERBAL “DRUG” FROM GUINEA BISSAU’S PRESIDENT EMBALO, SAYS “I WILL LISTEN TO SCIENCE”

President Muhammadu Buhari Saturday at the State House, Abuja, received the Madagascan native formulation against the Covid-19 pandemic, and reiterated that he will listen to science before allowing traditional or any new medicines to be administered on Nigerians.

At an audience meeting with President Umaro Sissoco Embalo of Guinea Bissau who brought along with him the samples of the traditional medicine as shared to African nations by Madagascar, President Buhari said his position on all such herbal or traditional medicinal postulates had remained the same.

“We have our institutions, systems and processes in the country. Any such formulations should be sent to them for verification. I will not put it to use without the endorsement of our institutions,” said the Nigerian President.

On the main reason for his visit, President Embalo said having stabilized his country after the tussles that attended the general elections won by him, he had come to seek counsel from his “father,” President Buhari on his plan for a “government of national unity” and a proposed war against corruption in his country.

He also said that his new government met a country beset with a number of issues and problems, the resolution of which would require tremendous assistance from the “big brother,” Nigeria.

“Problems of Guinea Bissau are problems of Nigeria. I have come to you as your son. I need your help and assistance to make the people happy. I will not let you down, neither will I put you in any difficult situation,” the visiting leader told President Buhari.

In response to these demands, the Nigerian leader commended “General“ Embalo on his confirmation as President and for stabilizing the country. “I commend your political dexterity in getting the opposition to join the proposed unity government,” he said.

President Buhari restated the determination of Nigeria to keep West Africa politically stable and promised to support the new government in Guinea Bissau. “I will cooperate and help in every way possible,” assured the Nigerian President.

President Buhari also used the opportunity of the visit to praise the good work that the President of Niger Republic, Mahamadou Issoufou, who is the current Chairman of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) is doing in the sub-region, and commended him for keeping him informed of all that is happening around.

PoliticsLeadership And Sustainable Development. by adebayoabiola(op): 4:32pm On Apr 08, 2020
Once again, Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu SAN, has shown to the good people of Ondo State what a fine gentleman he is. One who has risen far above the waters of politics, which is majorly known for deceits and empty promises.
Through his activities, he has remained committed to exemplary governance and leadership in the state thereby setting the pace for others to follow.

One of the most celebrated character of a true Omoluabi within the Yoruba socio-cultural setting is the ability to make promises and stand by them. Arakunrin Akeredolu has shown repeatedly that his words are gold and the welfare of workers in the State remains one of the banes of his government.

Upon the inception of the Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu led government, he met pending salary arrears of seven months.

Instead of turning a blind eye to this, just as most incoming governments does (because they feel it's not their responsibility to pay a debt owed by the previous government).

Arakunrin understands the essence of continuity in governance, where one administration stops, it is the onus of the next to continue from there. True to his promise of clearing this debts owed by his predecessor, he has cleared them. This gave workers in the state so much joy even at this critical stage where the world economy has taken a hit because of the ravaging effects of Covid-19.

Workers in the state was delighted to have received these payments at this crucial time when prices of goods and services are on the rise due to the effect of the Covid-19 pandemic.
This pandemic has led to the lockdown of many businesses, making certain goods and services hard to get.

Accolades must be given to the deserving ones, praise must be given to the worthy.

Sentiments apart good governance is made evident in thoughtful governments like this, one who chooses to relate with the realities of his people and will not shy away from doing the needful as at when due.

The Akeredolu led-administration has continued to place its workers at the fore front of his governance.

It will be recalled that Ondo State is one of the States in the Federation that is currently paying the new minimum wage.

Press Release
Covid-19 has given everyone with the excluding Health workers and people who are necessitated to continue working the luxury of a compulsory sit-at-home. This move became necessary in order to reduce the effect of the ravaging virus (COVID-19).
While the chance to stay at home excites many out there, to some it's just another unwelcomed and unavoidable development.

Dealing with indoor stay might proof difficult for most due to the fact that they do not know what to do with the excess time on their hands.

A list of indoor activities that can be done to engage oneself has been prepared. Some of which can be done to advance one's personal development, bond with one's family and relatives among many others.

1.    Rest- Times like this are rare and we might never have them again, it is only proper for us to seize this period to take the much needed rest, relax our muscles and work on our bodies.

2.    Self-Evaluation- While we engage ourselves with other activities during this lockdown, it would do us a great deal of help for us to have a deep personal evaluation of ourselves, our priorities/goals and how far we have come. This will definitely help us know our shortcomings, our strengths and how we can use the few available resources to complement our inadequacies.

3.    Prepare- The lockdown will definitely not last forever, so while it is still on, why not take the time to prepare for life after the lock down. Covid-19 has definitely altered the world's economy and as a result of this, it might take time before things are restored to the way they are before the start of the Lockdown. It will be wise to start laying down simple but strategic plans that might help you get back on your feet once it's over.

4.    Reach-out- While our jobs has often been at the center front of our lives which often make us forget to reach out in love to our friends and loved ones. This is a perfect opportunity for us to reach out to others. The internet can be so helpful when it comes to that. Regain lost relationships and family bonding times.

5.    Acquire Knowledge/Harness Your Skills- This is the best time for us to learn new things, the internet provides us with tons of opportunities to acquire and learn new skills. There are millions of videos on the You-Tube on various soft skills, also we can seize the opportunity to harness an already acquired skills by practicing them the more, practice they say makes perfect.

6.     Learn a new Language- Picking up a second language is not easy, nevertheless it can be very rewarding as it looks fantastic on a CV.

7.    Sort out your Files- While we often do not pay much attention to our files, especially the official ones, this might seem a better chance for us to create folders and catalogues for our files for easy access when needed.

8.     Work Online- Sites like Fiverr, Upwork etc offers people the chance to work online and get paid for services rendered.

9.    Study- This does not only apply to the student among us, but it applies to everyone. Learning never stops, this is a good time for students to keep themselves up to date with their academics, also workers can also use this moment to learn more about their respective works and offices and how their work can be more effective, read a book.

10.     Feed Backs From Clients- This is certainly for the entrepreneurs, while we also use this period to improve our goods and services delivery, we should also make time to create healthy clients' relationships, that is reaching out to them asking and using the opportunity to know their perception about the goods and services being rendered to them. This will help you do a thorough survey of your business and things you need to work on to be better.

11.    Take Care of your Environment- With a great deal of time at our disposal, it will definitely be a good time for us to tend our gardens, prune the flowers and make sure it looks fitting, neat and clean.

PoliticsAketi: Three Years Of Competence, Character And Courage by adebayoabiola(op): 3:29pm On Feb 24, 2020
It's exactly three years today that Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, took over the mantle of leadership of Ondo State as the sixth democratically elected Governor of the sunshine state.

Three years on, the road to redemption of the state has been a story of a dogged driver, poised and determined to drive the people to a destination filled with prosperity and unprecedented development.

Today in Ondo State, Governor Akeredolu has shown leadership with integrity and passion, setting a new pace for truth, trust and courage in leadership.

Across the world, there are three "Cs" that measure the place of a good leader- Competence, Character and Courage.

These three Cs are what Governor Akeredolu has employed to change the narrative of the state by giving governance a new meaning, with a display of uncommon love and passion for the people.

With competence, the Governor has set the state on the path of accelerated progress, development and growth. He has developed every sector of the state. His character has aided the progress of the state.

Unarguably, it is only in the state that contractors are mobilized to site with zero naira. Arakunrin Akeredolu has practically taken his integrity to the market to bring goodies to the state. No wonder he is now being referred to as Mr. "Talk and Do".

Courage, of course, has been displayed by Governor Akeredolu in many ways, especially on issues that affect the people.

Governor Akeredolu has shown that he is a fearless Owo man who will damn every consequence to stand with the people.

A Senior Advocate of Nigeria, an achiever and an accomplished man in his chosen career, Governor Akeredoku has over the years carved a niche for himself in public service with the manner he has delivered on electoral promises and developed the sunshine state.

Today in Ondo State, potable water supply, which was below 4% before Governor Akeredolu assumed office has now been improved. The Akeredolu administration has rehabilitated over two thousand water facilities across the state, while also sinking new ones.

This administration has also recorded uncommon stride with the introduction of Kamomi Aketi urban water kiosk, where people make use of digital card to fetch clean and safe water. It's the first of its kind in Nigeria.

Today in Ondo State, there are over 800 public primary schools that have been renovated and reconstructed. More schools have already been earmarked for reconstruction and renovation in the year 2020.

Within the space of three years, Governor Akeredoku has constructed massive roads, attracted over five industries into the state, situated at the Ondo-Linyi industrial hub in Ore, constructed the first flyover interchange in Ore, provided numerous job opportunities, built new hospital, improved the healthcare sector with the purchase of multi million naira equipment, procured medical equipment worth billions of naira, and lots more.

The people are daily reaping the gains of good governance in Ondo state, and subsequently now refer to the Governor as Mr. talk and do.

As we roll out the drums to celebrate three years of purposeful and people driven leadership, it's important to note that the only option left for us is to move to a greater height with Akeredolu. Let us move to a glorious place.

Happy Anniversary to us all.

PoliticsFowoso's Paradigm Shift About The Roles Of Women In Today's Nigeria by adebayoabiola(op): 11:24am On Dec 10, 2019
FOWOSO's Paradigm Shift about the Roles of Women in Today's Nigeria
By Dr. Joel Ademisoye

Having read the "FOWOSO: A new approach to women empowerment, " report and in addition to my personal attendance at the organization's many economic empowerment events for women and girl-child programs in the 18 Local Government Areas of Ondo State, I am a living witness to many of the stated contributions to, accomplishments and a successful testimonies directed at improving the quality of life for the most disadvantaged, under-appreciated and marginalized gender- women in the history of our state.

The positive impacts of FOWOSO's economic empowerment efforts, skills acquisition and literacy education for women and girl-child as recounted in the report on the FOWOSO's just concluded Second Anniversary in the International Cultural Center at the Dome in Akure, are compelling and overwhelming to ignore, considering the robust scope, visibility and meaningful effects of their programs on societal progress so far. Let me seize the opportunity to congratulate the founder and leader of FOWOSO, Arabirin Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu and kudos to the members of this unique organization, for their dedication, commitment and support to the successful story of the past two years in Ondo State.

The truth is, that the new state and status of women and girl-child as recorded, is unprecedented and historical in our state.

Yes, indeed, FOWOSO is the new 'Sheriff' in Ondo State with its ideology, approach and programs in efforts to address, treat and solve the perennial challenges facing women using a holistic or comprehensive approach to shine lights on the historical problem of treating women from an inferior perspective in the Nigerian society. Of interest in this new approach, is FOWOSO's inclusion approach involving the focus on the family and girl-child as an important parameters in the conceptualization, defining and understanding of what constitutes a woman's challenges in Nigeria.

For instance, I think FOWOSO pulled the 'bull by the horn' in debunking the cultural myths on the acceptance, menace and nuisance of rape of young girls in Ondo State thru it's organized awareness lecture for secondary schools' girls from different parts of the state and the well attended public protests against rape in Akure and in the 18 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the state. As the crawlers competition showed that a married man with his wife constitutes a family. Hence, the man-woman relationship fosters a building block for a strong family in Nigeria. Any relationship outside this acceptable cultural and social norms is destructive to a stable and rewarding family condition in the country.

In addition to FOWOSO's economic empowerment efforts, its activism and educating strategy in promoting the women's interests and rights in Nigerian politics and as an enabler of women seeking and holding political offices in Ondo State. I found this political reorientation of women to be a new frontier for a gender gap, who is perpetually shutout of the country's political system, their denial of active participation and the freedom to exercise their constitutional given rights to seek political offices like men in Nigeria.

FOWOSO as a 'change agent' in the past two years, it has been busy mobilizing, organizing and fielding women candidates for political offices in the state. Imagine in Nigeria where female constitutes 49.34% (Source: World Bank, 2016 population figures) of the country's population, a seizable figure to pay attention to in terms of male to female ratio in the country.

But, this seizable figure is not reflected in the country's political sphere, for example, out of the 36 state governors, there is no woman executive governor at all. All the state government houses are occupied by men, meaning that women are shut out of governance at the state level. A similar picture is painted at the national level of the country's political structure.

Thus at the federal level of governance and in the National Assembly, involving the positions of the president of the country, president of the Nigeria Senate and Speaker of the House of Representatives in Abuja are held by men.

Note: The most powerful political positions in Nigeria are held by men, who make policy decisions and shape the government policy outcomes for the citizens. This is a political paradox facing the Nigerian women, who hold about half of the country's population, but yet didn't hold any important position of political leadership nor play a significant role in Policy making in Abuja.

Against this backdrop, women are known to be outside and in the peripheral of the political loop of government and national decision making process in Abuja. In the past 2 years, FOWOSO has devoted its attention, publicity and concerted efforts thru a political education for women in order to create a sensitization and a 'level playing field' between men and women in the country's political arena.
In the two years of FOWOSO's existence, it is a truism that the organization has taken bold steps, constructive actions and implemented many viable and beneficial empowerment programs to change the women's irrelevant and pathetic status in the country's scheme of things.

FOWOSO's arrival and its short time of existence in Ondo State, it has became a social institution, which made a paradigm shift in the public perception, philosophy of and government's treatment of women in the Sunshine State. Today, it is a new dawn for women and girl-child in many areas of societal life as characterized by progressive ideals, values, social and economic mobility in a society, where the men are fully in control and dominant in every aspects of the Nigerian society.

FOWOSO has been instrumental and effective in tearing down the gender or sex barriers, which are limiting the progression of and constraining the opportunities that are available to women and young girls in the state. In a nutshell, FOWOSO through its goals, public statements and programs, is dedicated and committed to reducing gender inequality and enhancing social justice, which are currently skewed in favor of the Nigerian men.
