I’m a 25 years old guy and I was been diagnosed with high blood pressure in 2020 when I wanted to do a surgery. I have bp history with both parents and it was reaching 150 90. I was advised to start lifestyle changes as they said I was too young for no meds. Lost my mom to cardiac arrest last year and It’s been between stable and high and then last year November, it hit 180 140 and I was immediately put on amlodopine 10mg. Sometimes I stop the meds for 2 weeks and start when it becomes high. My cholesterol level is 196, did Electrocardiogram last month and it was normal. I woke up this morning from sharp pains in my left chest and it stopped like 5 seconds after I was up. Was feeling dizzy at sometime in the afternoon . I’m scared it might have been a silent heart attack.

Bro please calm down I’m 30 and I was diagnosed with hbp 4month ago. It’s not the end of the world. Take your medications daily and check it daily. I will advise you to buy a bp machine. I pray God grant us Devine healing

I was in your exact situation 4 months ago. I was close to a heart attack. I rejected the HBP medications I was offered by one of the doctors I saw and went for lifestyle changes suggested by another doctor. These are the changes I made;

Reduce (if possible remove) oil from your food.
Reduce (if possible remove) salt from your food.
Do away with Maggi as a spice for cooking.
Stop eating out at fast food restaurants.
Eat more fruits and vegetables.
Exercise. I exercise at least 5days/week. 45mins - 1 hour durations.
Drink lots of water at least 5 litres/daily.
No more soda drinks (Coca Cola, Malta Guiness etc). Replace them with smoothies. If you crave sugar find Banana, Pineapple etc to eat.
Remove processed meat, meat pies (e.g Sausage.. lol I miss this one o )
Buy a blood pressure monitor.


It took me 3 months to bring my HBP under control. It has now stabilized around the 130/90 region. My body weight has dropped from 98kg to 94kg. I sleep very well now without any need for medications and the palpitations are gone.

You are too young to be on those medications (which are lifelong by the way). Make drastic changes to your lifestyle and your BP will be back to normal without the need for medications. 150/97 is rather high. I bet you can no longer sleep at night and are already having palpitations.
