MamaGiovanni: I didn't put academy cos academy is not accredited for visa issuing basis as plab visa is not a student visa. To avoid Wahala. Also if you mention academy, you should have much more money in your account as your stay is longer. What most doctors do is, if you're finally issued for 6 months, you can travel earlier and attend the academy in person, but if you're given a shorter duration visa, you can do an online academy course.
A lot of doctors are mentioning academy these days and are still being given visa. Sometimes it backfires, most times it doesn't. But you must have a lot of money in your account to mention academy.
Start planning early more than 6 months ahead for the visa. Tidy your account. You should have more than twice or thrice the budget for your trip in your account.
If you don't have enough money, look for a sponsor.
I know someone who had about 900k in his account and was given. He did not have a sponsor. He earns about 250k monthly. Put his monthly expenses at 65k monthly... and budgeted £800 for the trip of 4 days. Note that £800 is about N400k. So the trio cost less than his 2 months salary.
It all depends on the ECO.
Visit www.naseersjourney. for more details. It caters specifically to plab. Nairaland was helpful to me also cos it dealt with the peculiar problems of Nigerians. So go through the pages thoroughly. Thanks very much. I will do as advised. All the best in your exam. |

MamaGiovanni: @gazalito @bogolobango
I applied for a business visa for plab exam
I submitted the following documents:
Reason for travelling: - short cover letter explaining why I need to travel to write the exam-plab 2 is done only in the UK. No other place.
- email from the body inviting me for professional exam - email congratulating me for previous step exam pass taken here in Nigeria - educational certificates (ielts, university degree certificate, certificate of registration with professional body in Nigeria, nysc certificate)
Finances. I sponsored myself. So I submitted : -Letter of introduction from my employer stating my position, start date of job, salary after tax and any bonuses entitled to, duration of leave , reason for leave, date of resumption at work - 6 months salary slips - 6 months bank statement. Only credits came from my salary to avoid unnecessary explanations. I put all my savings in my salary account previous to the 6 months to avoid unnecessary explanations too. So I presented only one bank account .
Previous travel history.
I had been to the UK about 5 yrs ago on a student visa for a short course, so I submitted the certificate issued to me after the course. - photocopy of previous passport with the tier 4 UK visa issued then. And the bio data page - I also visited the UAE with my husband a few years ago, so I also put a phocopy of the stamps on my previous passport and the bio data page.
Domestic ties back home. In my cover letter I explained that I was able to save a lot of my salary over the past few years because my hubby was the main breadwinner of the family who took care of our family expenses.
- marriage certificate - wedding pictures -children's birth certificate - 3 family pictures of hubby, me and kids - photocopy of my husband's international passports bio data page - letter of introduction from hubby's employer stating his salary for past 6 months, position, duration of employment - hubby's bank statement for 6 months (he had some unexplained credits less than 100k here and there, but since he was not my sponsor, we didn't explain it) - hubby's land documents - consent letter from hubby stating he'll be with the kids while I travel
Evidence of home - tenancy agreement in hubby's name -rent receipt paid by hubby
Itinerary. - I booked a cheap hostel (all female room) for £55.5 for 3 days - I booked a provisional flight ticket with Klm, cost £541. I wrote in my cover letter that I'll pay once my visa is granted.
Total budget for trip was £760. Duration of stay: 3 nights
My salary is N140k. My budget was almost 3 x my salary but I had x 4 of my budget in my salary account.
I hope this helps someone esp doctors applying for visa for plab exam. Congrats on your visa ma. I want to ask, are you planning on going for an academy course for the plab 2? There is this debate as to whether it's necessary to include an academy or not in the application. Also, if one was to start saving strictly because of the visa, how much do you think it's appropriate to start with as the opening account? Thanks |

I'm not sure I have seen this act of pettiness since 5th grade. Also, your desperate attempt at sarcasm is pathetic at best. To think that I once defended you... Guys, I think we should leave this young man alone. Continuous bickering with him will only stimulate his immortal heights of immaturity. People that claim to know it all especially when they have an infantile knowledge about so many things, I abhor the most. |

Mr noobody, I expected more from you. What you are doing is slightly bordering on bullying. We are not bullies here. Besides, Nobody owns this thread. This thread is for everyone. There was a time I use to think xiaomi phones are overated and over-exalted until I got one. In my opinion, mr Henry has the right to air his views no matter how strongly you feel against it. He was clearly joking about the watching his videos or not threat. We must tolerate ourselves more. |

scotweezy: If you have a recovery rom saved on your phone, boot into TWRP and flash it. If you sha still wan root read other tutorials online and see if they would work.
And if na fastboot rom kindly follow this guide https://www.xiaomigeek.com/flash-miui-fastboot-rom-using-command.html Thanks bro. The phone is back on now. I was able to flash Fastboot rom using adb and Fastboot tools. It's working fine. As for the root, that will be another time lol |

scotweezy: I guess that would be the next thing to do. But wait! Hope you didn't tick to allow TWRP make modifications to your system upon booting to TWRP? And one other thing, is the TWRP you booted/installed the latest and confirmed official for Mido?
When I did mine, the first boot took forever, all I did was to press down the power button and it booted up fine afterwards. No bro. I didn't tick allow TWRP make modifications. After the reboot, i waited for some minutes and when it wasn't coming up I pressed the power button down only for the mi logo to briefly come up and disappear . That has been the story since morning. The TWRP I installed was the latest too |

scotweezy: Did you flash Lazyflasher-no-verity.zip? If not go back and flash it. I did bro. In fact, I did it again and again. The phone is just stuck at mi logo. Do you think I should do a clean flash of the ROM? |
Phones › Re: The Xiaomi Thread. by adegoks1234(m): 11:13am On Jan 30, 2018 |
scotweezy: My procedure is actually to just boot into TWRP recovery in order to be able to flash the Magisk root zip, that is why the command is "fastboot boot recovery.img" and not "fastboot install recovery.img" as far as your usb cord is connected the whole process to be carried out in TWRP will go through and your stock recovery will be kept intact
In your case you've installed; press the power button and volume up button simultaneously to get into recovery and do your business. Be advised thay OTA won't install when you try it with TWRP recovery flashed.
Modify: I guess you didn't follow my instructions to the end. Once you input the "fastboot boot recovery.img" command, ensure the phone boots up into TWRP by itself don't remove the usb cable. From here, you can follow the process to flash the magisk.zip folder Thanks bro. I did as you said but I have ran into a bit of a problem. After i completed the installation ,I tried rebooting but its stock at mi logo. The mi logo will just flash for a few seconds and disappear. I haven't been able to power on the phone. What can I do please? |
Phones › Re: The Xiaomi Thread. by adegoks1234(m): 7:08pm On Jan 28, 2018 |
scotweezy: I posted some times back that I will write a concise tutorial on my journey through unlocking bootloader, rooting without tampering with stock recovery. Well! Below is what I could come up with;
Follow @Kstan's tutorial on unlocking bootloader I personally didn't utilise VPN and I got unlock permission very early the next day, actually way less than 24 hrs. Also, chrome, puffin or any other SIMILAR browsers can be made use of on phone to do the applying (please abeg no opera mini oo)
Additionally, due to network issues, getting your account bonded might not happen once. Repeated messages of 'error' will be returned just keep repeating till you get a positive confirmation.
Search for Kstan through Nairaland search to check for his post on unlocking bootloader.
Process to root without tampering with the stock recovery of Xiaomi Redmi Note 4(x) snapdragon version. This is essential in order to be able to do OTA.
Requirements; 1. Unlocked bootloader 2. Latest Adb and fastboot setup (in exe format) 3. Latest TWRP custom recovery for mido (in img format) 4. Latest Magisk manager app (apk format) 5. Latest Magisk zip. 6. Lazyflasher-no-verity for mido (zip format) 7. Latest stock recovery for mido.(incase you mistakenly install a custom recovery)
Note; 'mido' is the nickname for Xiaomi Redmi Note 4(x) snapdragon version. Ensure you find the LATEST versions of the above required files on the web (check the ever reliable XDA forum) except otherwise stated by the developer(s) of such resources.
If you're sure you've unlocked your device *check by going to 'settings' - 'additional settings'- 'developer options' and check 'unlock status' if your device is unlocked, you should see 'this device is unlocked' or something similar.
Before starting any tweaking on your device kindly find a way to do a NANDROID BACKUP aka full backup. Mi PC suite might be required for this or search the web for necessary steps.
*Copy all the above files to your PC to have a spare copy and your full backup and ensure you know the folder they are saved on your phone*
By now you should ensure 'usb debugging' under 'developer options' on your xiaomi device is activated.
Install the adb and fastboot setup on your PC.(kindly do a good web search on installing adb and fastboot on your computer relating to Xiaomi devices)
Next is to test the adb, navigate to the folder of the adb setup on your pc, it is usually located in the 'local disk' folder under 'computer' Connect your device, on your computer still in the 'adb and fastboot folder' press the 'shift key' and the 'right mouse button' do the pressing Simultaneously, navigate to 'open command prompt' and click. (the command prompt window will now open)
Type the command 'adb devices' the returned prompt should be 'devices connected' with some set of numbers which is peculiar to that particular device. If the returned prompt is not like the above then you will have to go back a few steps of this tutorial and troubleshoot.
Rename the TWRP in img format to 'recovery.img' and copy into the 'adb and fasboot folder' on your computer.
Now, switch off your phone and boot into fastboot mode by simultaneously pressing the power button and volume down button, wait for some few seconds till you see a Mi avatar and the word 'fastboot', now connect your phone to your computer.
Like previous, go into command prompt while in the 'adb and fastboot folder', this time around we will test for the fastboot status of the phone by inputting command 'fastboot devices' just like before the returned prompt should be 'connected devices' with some specific numbers.
Now, input command; 'fastboot boot recovery.img' Your phone should boot into TWRP recovery. (Very important: Ensure you DON'T swipe to enable modification). Click to flash to install zip and navigate to where Magizk.zip and swipe to flash. Repeat the flash step but this time around locate Lazyflasher-no-verity.zip and swipe to flash. (this step is very necessary to avoid bootlooping) Find the reboot button and click.
*Booting might take a little while than usual just be patient. Incase of bootlooping repeat the connecting to fastboot mode and boot into TWRP and flash Lazyflasher-no-verity.zip.
Most part of this tutorial was gotten from Xda forum and contributions of other members here. Hello sir. I have successfully flashed the TWRP. However, I'm unable to boot into recovery mode no matter what I do. I have even tried pressing together the power button and the volume up key. It just boot into pc suite something sha but never recovery mode. What do you suggest I do? Also note that I followed the procedure you highlighted here thoroughly... |
