Visa Alert
Mum's visiting visa
Had 6 months visa which expires this month - Visited for 2 months
Decided to apply for 5 years after the initial 6 months visa
Biometrics 28th January
VFS collection mail 7th February
Passport collected with visa vignette 8th February
I submitted my bank statements in both applications. She did not submit any bank statement as she is retired.
So, I can confirm that you can apply for a longer term visa after the initial 6 months visa. I have ILR so that probably made it easier.

Usually they say you should get the result within 48 hours but I got mine in just 24 hours.

I recently transited through Doha and they accepted the Covid test from Synlab. From my understanding, they accept the Covid test from any of the accredited test centres by ncdc.

What are you talking about? There is nothing like student visa route to indefinite leave to remain. Once you have stayed for 10years on any kind of visa you are eligible to apply for the ILR. That's the simple fact. That's clearly stated there. Please show us any government publication that supports your claim that the 10 years route to ILR has been closed.

Read the information and you will clearly see that it applies to any category of visa. This is something I know for a fact so don't try to twist facts
Exactly what I was trying to explain to him. He thinks he knows it all.

Once you have stayed in the UK legally for 10 years regardless of the type of visa, you are eligible for an ILR.

Wasn't that what I just said? I said she was on tier 4 which she used for her undergraduate, masters and early years of her PhD. It became 10 years this year and she applied and got her ILR...

I guess you have limited info about how your friend got his ILR.
Justwise, you simply don't know it all. As long as you have stayed in the UK for up 10 years continuously and it's legal, then you are eligible for ILR. She is right here with me and laughing at your ignorance

YES, she did. She did her undergraduate, masters and was a year in her PhD when she got the ILR. All on tier 4

This will not work, 10 yrs route is closed, you will not be allowed to accumulate those years.
No, it's not closed please. A friend just got her ILR last month using the 10 years route. As long as the stay is continuous legally and you haven't spent more than 180 days outside the UK, you are eligible for permanent residence.

You can apply for walk in and go for your biometrics any day you want. But if you will be going to the TLS in Ikeja, make sure you are there as early as possible. The crowd there can be out of control during these summer periods.

I totally disagree with that...my travelling date in September and I applied in March. The Visa was granted in April. Though the Visa validity starts in June 26 and ends in December 26. If we are not sure of certain information, let's advise as a form of suggestions. This platform is trusted and uncertainty of information will not be appreciated.
The fact that you got lucky with it does not make it right. For the UK visit visa, the earliest you are expected to apply is three months to your intended travel date.

The reason she wants to write it in the UK is because there are no more open slots in Nigeria until November.

1. You are not helping him by encouraging him to lie.

2. No they don't frown at people traveling to the UK for the exam because many in the thread have succeeded in doing that.
I don't think you get his point. The plab exam is in 2 parts. The part 1 is written twice a year in Nigeria in three different centres in the country. The part 2 is only written in the UK.

If you tell the ECO you are going to write plab 1 in the UK, then the question becomes why can't you write it in your country when you have three different centres? It's not impossible to get visa for plab 1 but based on the experience of a lot of people that I know, it's a daunting task.

For the part 2, it's quite easy. The exam is only written in the UK. The ECO knows this.

What most people do is to apply for a visiting visa and then write the exam then. It's certainly not a crime to write an exam when you are on a visiting visa. It's never a violation of the terms of your visa.

Hello justwise and gurus in the house.

I just noticed now while going through my docs that the boxes on the document checklist was not ticked at the official only side and signed as well.

I hope it does not have any effect on my application. Also, I feel it is the TLS that makes use of that for document organisation purpose. Pls guys pls this makes me worried a bit or is it nothing to worry about?

Though, the TLS attendant sorted the documents in my presence. Just that the doc checklist looks like something official is missing.

I will appreciate a response guys.

Thanks
It doesn't have any effect on your application. Mine wasn't even signed at all. I'm pretty sure they didn't even scan my checklist sef. Still, I got the visa.

So be rest assured.

Please guys, the father of a guy of mine wants to sponsor his son out to U.S, Canada or U.K. They both don't know any process or anything about traveling.
He told the son to find out because things are not really working well for him here. So the son was asking around of Europe embassy until I heard and said there is nothing of such. So I concluded with him not to worry that I will ask nairaland travel Forum for advise.
Please, help cause I promised a positive feedback from here. His father is quite rich enough to sponsor him now, plz. The guy is desperate to leave and his father is ready to help..
Well, if he is keen on migrating abroad, his best bet is the Express Entry Scheme for Canada. Of course, that will depend on a lot of other variables. His age, academic qualifications, work experience, IELTS score amongst others.
I will advise you to check the Express Entry group here on nairaland for more information.

Thank u so much..met someone who said she is an immigration lawyer and can help me reapply..
Please don't waste your money on any Immigration lawyer. If you don't address the reasons for the refusal, there is nothing any Immigration lawyer will do.

I think the reasons for the refusal are very clear. You have to provide proof of all the deposits in your account. It's also logical for an intending tourist to have a detailed itinerary of his trip.

Christianity EtcRe: Birthday Celebration Is Egoistic, Hence A Tool Satan Uses To Carry Out His Plans by adegoks1234(m): 6:58am On Nov 14, 2018
alBHAGDADI:
1.) First and foremost, birthdays are no command. Yes, we can say it is an example of Pharaoh whom is the first person to celebrate his birthday in the Bible. Now, aren't there other examples one can learn from that Pharaoh? That Pharaoh whom you paint as evil still did lots of good. Remember he housed the children of Israel who were God's people and even gave them land. That is a good example for all mankind. We can't throw the baby away with the bath water. Pharaoh was bad but he had some good qualities. We learn from the good and discard the bad.

As for customs, there are tonnes of pagan customs which we Christians have imbibed. First and foremost, before you label those people as pagans, you must know that they are humans first. It's not as if their every action involves worship of false god.

Yes, the Bible is my judge and it never says we should not celebrate birthdays.

2.) Genesis 40:20
And it came to pass the third day, which was Pharaoh's birthday, that he made a feast unto all his servants: and he lifted up the head of the chief butler and of the chief baker among his servants.

The above verse is talking about what Pharaoh did on his birthday. It in no way states that birthdays are wrong or evil. Just cos Pharaoh murdered someone on his birthday doesn't mean that is what happens on birthdays. The verse in no way condemns birthdays. Stop speaking where the Bible never spoke.

If you had read further, you would have seen that it wasn't only evil Pharaoh did. He also did good in that he restored his buttler back to his position.

Genesis 40:21
And he restored the chief butler unto his butlership again; and he gave the cup into Pharaoh's hand:

I can't even say Pharaoh did evil. What the Pharaoh did to the baker was simply judgment for an offence he committed. He only chose to pardon one and punish the other by killing him, a thing I believe he deserved.

Genesis 40:1
And it came to pass after these things, that the butler of the king of Egypt and his baker had OFFENDED their lord the king of Egypt.

But here you are trying to paint pharaoh's actions as totally evil and even using it to stain birthday celebrations. I can even say the Pharaoh did more good and no evil. The Baker got what he deserved, but the Butler got pardoned which is a good act from Pharaoh. That good act led to Joseph being made assistant Pharaoh to the point where the children of Israel we're saved from famine as they took refuge in Egypt. If Pharaoh had not thrown a birthday party, the gift of Joseph won't have filtered into his ears.

Mathew 14:1-12 also doesn't speak against birthdays. It's just about Herod doing something evil which happened to happen on his birthday. It's not as if murdering a person is a custom associated with birthdays.

I doubt you understand the passage in Galatians.

3. ) I don't know about secular history, but I can state that the Bible never said birthdays are a pagan customs and that we must abstain from such. That's why you havent been able to show me one single verse of such.

4.) I'm not derailing the thread. I'm glad we both agree that wedding rings are borrowed from pagan customs. If you also say birthdays are borrowed from Pagans, how come you wear wedding rings but kick against birthdays? Aren't suppose to kick against both? Can you now see how hypocritical you are?
This is one man that knows what he is talking about. All the points you've made are totally valid.
