ola6:Lol...guy no turn this thread to bif tinz o...but come to think of am dat one sef dey |
courage54:Yea I understand what u mean but I think what affected him was the introduction of fayose on a major party w hi ich must've made people who would've naturally voted for him to change their minds seeing he had little money for rallys and no big party hype surrounding him. With the apc hype and machinery behind Bamidele, I believe he would've trounced Fayose |
onatisi:I agree with u sir |
courage54:Makes sense but sometimes imposition causes party to lose elections like in where Fayemi was imposed and Bamidele was shut out..Fayemi eventually lost that election and Bamidele who had more grassroot support could've won that election and even gone to perform better than Fayemi as a result of his 8 year experience as commissioner in Lagos. Imposition backfires but it's good sometimes |
onatisi:I swear down |

No, if you read the article in full you will understand. He is actually condemning zoning and religion as a criteria in choosing candidates for elections. He is for competence and capability. In the sentence you quoted above, he is merely giving an example of what the religion factor has caused pple to be saying. |
Elcemento:Truth has always been bitter jare..make Bourdillon vex in go ever forgive in boy.Banire na in pikin and no be today papa and pikin dey fight. But to stay quiet and continue in the 'yes man' way like all the other cronies would be tantamount to injustice to our young and nascent democracy. Always, one brave men must rise up as a hero in every generation. I believe we are witnessing the emergence of a fearless leader though I have never hidden my admiration for him |
donmalcolm21:Lol..this is funny..except the man has consistently told all who care to listen he's not interested in being governor |
Dr Banire, National legal Adviser, All progressives Congress delivered a very fiery speech at a colloquium organized on behalf of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola. Banire who has never been scared of speaking the truth didnt show mercy on even his own Party, the All progressives Congress and its Leaders. The colloquium was obviously spurred by Aregbesola’s outstanding re-election for a second term in the bitterly contested August 9th governorship election in Osun state. Take away's from the Paper : Today, our own party has been reduced to a shrine of personality cult where party members do not see themselves as democrats; where aspirants do not see any reason to patronise their constituencies in winning party tickets. All roads lead to one leader or the other Alas! How can democracy be secure in the hands of a few who dispense political kun fa ya kun as they please? There are no further developmental projects in most Local Government Areas as the Chairmen have no sense of accountability to the masses but rather to their appointor, in the same manner that there is no accountability at virtually other levels to the people again other than the political masters It is our position that the use of military men to conduct elections is completely unconstitutional. It is the apogee of lawlessness and the zenith of impunity for any president to deploy soldiers to monitor or conduct elections in Nigeria. In many cases we present the most unpopular candidate who probably even lost during primaries at the expense of a grassroots politician who is preferred by huge majority of the members of the party. A continuation of this illicit practice can never guarantee the future for democracy and I see it as a challenge in the on-coming 2015 election. What Osun 2014 has taught us is to present popular and best candidates for elections through democratic and transparent primaries No fortress is stronger than the people Now muslims in Lagos State have been saying that since the two governors that have ruled in Lagos since 1999 claimed to be muslims but with Christian wives who were deacons, we must ensure that the next Christian governorship candidate of APC must have an hadjia as his wife I remember a brief conversation shared between a foremost leader of our party and a notable human rights activist. Immediately after the declaration of results on the 10th day of August, 2014, the said activist called to congratulate the said leader of our party and the leader said “Our party won the election”. The activist promptly retorted: “No, your party did not win the election. Ogbeni won the election.” Takeaways are too many to highlight. read paper for yourself below. Its long, but its a worthy read. Source : http://theeagleonline.com.ng/osun-poll-pathway-to-nigerias-democratic-growth-by-muiz-banire/ |
Lol. .ok sis. .took down bro already |
Finekunlex: Thanks dear,..quick retorts tho'Indeed . .well spoken. .but sitting on a desk is a far different ball game from being out there on the field walking in drainages and dealing with related multiplex issues may the best man win |
idumuose: Jimi Agbaje is the next lagos state governor come 2015.Good nightJimi Agbaje first needs to clinch the PDP ticket and overcome the Obanikoro obstacle before coming to dance in the market square with the big and ferocious dogs |
Finekunlex: Personal agenda/interests shouldn't obstruct mutually-inclusive decisions for progressive productivity. APC shouldn't allow these flexing of egos to blight their good motives, 'cos in truth, both Hamzat and Ambode are good candidates, in fact, best technocrats who have and who can deliver. But, it seems the Akinwunmi Ambode man deems to be much more experienced administratively, plus, an apolitical choice, who quite many Lagosians already believe best suits and I support that that suitability should still be subject to party primaries in all honesty. Gov. Fashola, Banire et al shouldn't smear their excellent tenures with a any form of power-drama nor cap-off their political good service with needless obstinacy..they both seem too loved to wallow in political miry clay. I don't think they should have any problem with the stance of Akinwunmi Ambode. You have some good points there but i dont think Ambode's mere paper pushing as a civil servant where procedure is the other of the day is a true test of practicability and administrative sagacity. People like Banire, Hamzat and Leke pitan have been proven to be tested as captains of practical ministries delivering actual and practical dividends. may the best man win |
I sincerely hope not too because the 2015 race for lagos has even gotten more heatedc with the entry of Jimi Agbaje |
A man of strong principle and quintessential character, Muiz Banire a three time Commissioner in Lagos State who many have beckoned to aspire for the exalted office of Governor, has continually rejected this aspiration for fear of losing his privacy and sanity. However, he is rumored to be backing the candidacy of one of the aspirants from Epe LGA who is a former colleague and has insisted that the party's flag-bearer for the elections in February be produced through a transparent and free and fair primaries. This has reportedly pitched him against his benefactor Bola Ahmed Tinubu who is believed to be promoting the candidacy of a former Accountant General of the State Akinwunmi Ambode who was very instrumental to Asiwaju Tinubu's financial consolidation and domination of Lagos State during his tenure and after. In this interview with Sahara reporters below Banire speaks his mind without fear It is rumoured among strong party members that this interview has been brought to the attention of Asiwaju who feels Banire spoke beyond his capacity and has promised to deal with him and put him in his place.
