Youth wing of the Economic Countries of West African
States (ECOWAS) has honoured Mr. Seyi Tinubu (CEO
Loatsad Promomedia) for his tremendous achievements
within the short period of time of his business existence.
Speaking on behalf of the organization, Mr Mam Mam Sowe
commended the leadership skills and entrepreneurial spirit
of Mr. Seyi Tinubu.
Furthermore, the organization acknowledge his support and
developmental strides for youth, empowerment
programmes and leadership dexterity which has exemplified
him from other young entrepreneurs.
Mr. Tinubu in his response appreciates the leadership of the
EYC and promise to support the course of youth

assist and mentor the youths who are ready to be upright in
all their dealings.

Tn Nigeria their is a common pattern of using broomsticks
to match the Ewedu leaves into slimy soup which now has
now discouraged by health personnel in the country.
The soup is known as Rama ayoyo among Hausa, while the
Igbo call it Kerenkere.
From the department of medicine UCH Dr. Adegboyega
Akere in Ibadan, yesterday advised women and caterers to
stop the practice.
THE REASON .....
This is because ewedu soup that is mashed with
broomsticks could still retain splinters of the broom,
however minute.
He said that when eaten, the splinters from the broomsticks
could get trapped inside the oesophagus or the intestine.
Akere disclosed that someone who had eaten the soup
containing a tiny piece of broomstick was rushed to
the UCH recently.


“The broomstick settled in her intestine and did not digest.
This resulted in the inflammation of the intestine.
“Two days after, the patient complained of severe stomach
pains and a CT-Scan revealed that a broomstick was
lodging inside her intestine.



“A surgical operation was carried out and in less than 24
hours, the patient was on her feet moving about. This
clarion call is necessary because ewedu soup is the local
soup of people in this part of Nigeria.



“The locals prefer it to any other soup; therefore, I will
advise them to either blend or grind it on the stone before
cooking,”

An investigation has been launched by the British Airways
concerning racist comments allegedly made-up by one of
their stewardess.




Based on the video the stewardess filmed herself as she
was made a flight from London Heathrow to Abuja on Friday night.

Qatar based Nigerian Michael Asemota, as done the usual after he reportedly returned QR1.5 million ($411,127.99/N150 million) wrongly paid into his account.




The Nigerian , according to Qatar Tribune had opened an account with a cheque of QR150,200 with an undisclosed commercial bank, where he is the sole signatory of the account.
On getting home, he received an alert showing that a QR1,502,000 had been credited into his account by mistake instead of QR150,200.
Asemota went back to the bank and returned the money.




Asked why he alerted the bank about the error, Asemota said,"I knew the money did not belong to me and shouldn't be in my account in the first place, so there were no motives and temptations to keep it."

An online fraudster from Nigeria as reportedly duped a married woman in The UK of £10,000.


Reports from the devastated family shows the woman even contemplated leaving her husband and children to start a new life in the United States with this fraudster she had never met before after he pretended his wife had died in childbirth and he had been caught up in an oil rig explosion.


Their affair had been uncovered after the woman’s 41 year old daughter, Jane (not her real name) received a heart breaking call from her father a month ago. He had discovered money transactions to Nigeria totalling £10,000 and suspected his wife of having an affair.

The mother was confronted and it became apparent she had fallen for a make-believe man called ‘David’, in his 50s, with two children, aged nine and 11, who had contacted her over Facebook.


She fell for his sob story – that there had been an explosion on the oil rig and he could not afford the medical bills. He had two children who were cared for by a nanny after the mother tragically died during childbirth.

THE Federal Executive Council (FEC) yesterday approved a comprehensive reform of Nigeria's tertiary education system, scrapping the award of the Higher National Diploma (HND) by the nation's polytechnics.
In effect, the award of the HND will be limited to only the students currently admitted for the programmes.

Also, all the programmes currently being run by the polytechnics, which are not technology-based, and which are about 70 per cent,
will be scrapped.

Under the new rule, the polytechnics will now become campuses of the proximate universities with the Vice Chancellors of those

universities appointing provosts for the polytechnics, subject to the ratification of the Universities Councils.
The polytechnics will now be limited to award of the National Diploma (ND) while those desirous of further education will be awarded
the Bachelor of Technology (B. Tech) by the proximate university.

To kick-start the new policy, the nation's two most prominent polytechnics - Yaba College of Technology and Kaduna Polytechnic -
will henceforth be known as City University of Technology, Yaba and City University of Technology, Kaduna.

And to give legal teeth to these approvals, the FEC approved the submission of two Executive bills to the National Assembly for enactment into law.
With education being on the concurrent list, the states may wish to consolidate their tertiary institutions.

But if they do not wish to follow the federal example, their programmes will continue to be regulated by the relevant agencies of the Federal Ministry of Education.

The first bill will concretise the setting up of the two city universities while the second will approve the preparation and consolidation
of all federal polytechnics and colleges of education as campuses of proximate universities.

The Ministry of Justice will do the preparation and submission of the two bills to the National Assembly.
Minister of Education, Mall. Adamu, told journalists after the weekly meeting of the council that under the reform measures, her ministry would, however, continue to licence private polytechnics and colleges of education for the award of qualification at ND and National Certificate in Education (NCE) levels.
She said: "There will be no more award of HND.

After we have exhausted the current students under the programme, there will be no more award of HND. This means that there will be no fresh admission for HND programmes. And in addition, any programme that is not technical will be out of the polytechnics..

About 70 per cent of polytechnic graduates are in the non-technical courses. It is going to be a rigorous implementation programme."
A ministerial committee to ensure the smooth implementation of all that is required for the take-off of the reform initiatives is to begin work immediately.
Mall. Adamu said:

The HND certificate will remain a legal tender in Nigeria
and holders of such certificate will continue to be recognised as the equivalent of first degree holders without discriminatory remunerations and limit to progression in the work place*

The NCE certificate will be retained as the minimum teaching qualification at the basic level of education.

Any higher qualifications by
these private or state-owned polytechnics will be only affiliation with a university. So, HND is no longer in existence, but existing HND will be respected and considered legal tender."

The council also approved the Federal Government's formal take-over of the Waziri Umaru Polytechnic, Birnin Kebbi, which will be the College of Technology campus of the Othman Dan Fodio University, Sokoto, as well as the Hussein Adamu Polytechnic, Kazaure,
Bauchi, which will be a College of Technology of the proximate university in the state.

Also, the Alvan Ikoku College of Education, Owerri, Imo State, has been taken over as a campus of the Federal University of
Technology, Owerri.

A state that had never had any federal institution, like Bayelsa, is to have a College of Technology as a campus of the College of Technology of the University of Port Harcourt.

Nigerian-British boxer and Rio 2016 Olympian Lawrence Okolie took just 20 seconds to score a knockout win on his professional debut.
The 24-year-old British cruiserweight who has a Nigerian parents caught compatriot Geoffrey Cave with two solid right hands.
The bout followed Anthony Crolla’s points defeat by Jorge Linares at Manchester Arena.
“Sorry to everyone that missed me fighting,” Okolie tweeted. “The good news is a Won by KO in 20 seconds!! Bad news is I’m back in the cage for now.”
London-based Cave, 33, has now lost all three of his professional fights.
Okolie competed at heavyweight and lost to Cuban Erislandy Savon at the last-16 stage at the Rio Olympics.
He had boxed Savon once before and lost via a first-round stoppage, but at the second attempt he went the three-round distance with the Cuban who would eventually claim a bronze medal.
Savon had lost Nigerian born Anthony Joshua at the London 2012 which also inspired Okolie.
Okolie had explained that the likes of Joshua lured him into boxing.

“Before I started boxing properly I was working in McDonald’s, and I was watching the Olympics during my breaks whenever I could,” he told Sky Sports News HQ.

“It was the only thing to do! There was a particular break where Usain Bolt won the 100m then Anthony Joshua won gold. I felt something then.
“It was really inspirational. I started putting more work into training, and believing it more.”
