My clients are happy customers today.
Those not resident in the UK need not worry about Tennants missing payments.
They are with the council. However, councils are different.

The thread was targeted at Nigerians not residing in the UK to take advantage of the depreciating Pound sterling.
and not for very successful and super qualified Buy to Lets Landlord like you.

The Pound lost 25% of its value against the Naira at a point. It was N180 to a Pound.
We have been used to N235-N250 for the past two years. So this drop was significant.
Meaning before now you needed about N24,000,000 but recently you only needed N18,000, 000 to buy a £100,000 property.

So far, the response has been good and cautious in appraoach.

If you have an idea please share it. That is the objective
You can be constructive, at least other readers will welcome it.

If you have a better idea you are welcome. You never know they might be interested in the secret of you success.

Anyway the Pound  have appreciated against the Naira betterstill the Naira depreciated as at Friday 12/12/2008
it was about N210-N215 to a Pound. This is infact not misleading.

Ok, I hereby a citizen police force to enforce compliance? 
If you notice a "US" or "Canadian" spec car without a VIN,
keep harassing the seller until he/shecomplies with the strong recommendation.
This is a commercial board.  it will be hard to find a neutral moderator.
Let us see how far community responsibility can take us.

It is very undemocratic. No wonder our country is in such a mess.

It would be better to say.

BUYER BEWARE. CAREFULLY INSPECT THE CAR AND DOCUMENTS BEFORE YOUR PART WITH YOUR MONEY.

TEN THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW BEFORE YOU BUY YOUR CAR  etc.


From a sellers point of view, certain information present in the VIN check has potential for misinterpretation from the buyer
This would not give the Seller a fair chance to make clarifications if neccessary at the point of decision making by the buyer.

When Americans developed the VIN Check  they did not have Nigeria in mind. The market is different. In Nigeria you cannot enforce disparities in
court. Nothing beats physical investigation of the car you want to buy. Take a trusted mechanic with you. 


In my view sellers on nairaland are seen to be guilty. You now need to prove your innocence.
This is not a level playing field.



In the name of fair play. I hereby release my VIN.
I don't have anything  to hide.
But i wish my opinion was respected.
I am deeply upset. This is not a win win for everybody.
VIN should be made optional.
VIN is  history and not an  upto date information for a buyer.
A lot could go WRONG or RIGHT from USA-NIGERIA.

If only i can leave a feedback. My experience on this particular matter is very negative.
Nevertheless, Nairaland can do better and stop this Bulling and harrassment.

It would be wrong to paint a picture of a seller who is
not making VIN available to be a person who is not honest and lacks integrity.

Honestly, this is becoming a joke. As individuals Respect for one another is minimum we
can show for each other. Please respect my opinion.

I WILL MAKE MY VIN AVAILABLE WHEN I SEE A SERIOUS BUYER.

I will encourage any buyer to ask for documentation while inspecting the car.

The issue of the VIN covers USA only and not in Nigeria.

What if the car has been tampered with in Nigeria.

Bodyparts, tyres, interior, music system etc.
A VIN check is limited and it does not provide an upto date information about a car.

There is nothing that beats physical investigation of a car you want to buy. You can see, feel, touch, and hear it.

Come and see for yourself. easy.

My thread has been tainted with this VIN issue. Anyway i appreciate your diverse views.

For someone who is not Resident in the country (UK)
Considering the council is a serious option.

Really, you would not have problems with the council
if your property is in a good and certified condition.
Things like Gas Safety Certificate should be done annually.
You can get a management company ( Estate Agent) to manage
your  poroperty for you. But you run the risk of discretionary charges (fees).

The council option is long term because it is a contract and less headache if you
are prepared to do what they want.
Seriously you need to spend money to make money.

We are all owners of NairaLand.
Without your patronage and other alike .

It is just our way of doing things in Nigeria.

If it is a condition of sale i will comply betterstill close my advert.
I can only deduce that Sellers are encouraged to show their VINS of cars on sale.

However, asking for VINS is like asking for a person's Social Security Number or National insurance number.

It is a data am not willing to give away online unless i find a serious buyer.
My wish should be respected please

There are more important factors to worry about than VINS.

Before you buy a car i expect a buyer to View the car carefully and ask for documentation.
I believe this is more important that VIN. when you see the document you can verify yourself
with the physical car.

Anyway, this lovely Jeep is still on sale.
It can be yours before Xmas.
