BusinessRe: Just Two Reasons Why You Need To Be An Entrepreneur Or An Investor by adexsng(op): 10:59am On Sep 08, 2017
People like Henry Ford, Steve Jobs, Oprah Winfrey, and John D. Rockefeller didn’t achieve greatness by following the narrow path recommended by management gurus and treating these traits as setbacks.

Here are 12 things society may consider a liability, but which can actually be indications that you are meant to be an entrepreneur.

1. Easily bored.
If you find yourself easily bored you know how others start to view you as a problem. Nothing is wrong with you except that you are bored with activities that aren’t up to your potential and aren’t challenging you. This lack of challenge is why you hated most of the classes you ever took. Look at Bill Gates who dropped out of college to become one of the richest men in the world.

2. Labeled a rebel.
Greatness lies outside of the lines and boundaries of authority and you don’t think laws, policies and regulations apply to you. You have been labeled a rebel, a rule breaker and would defy gravity if you could.

3. Hate the status quo.
Doing something the “time-honored” way doesn’t make sense to you when there is no explanation why. You don’t like to sit idly by, you refuse to just go through the motions and you won’t follow the pack.

4. Bullied as a kid.
You may have been heavily picked on, criticized and even bullied as a child or teen. This has given you a drive to excel to prove to the world that you are indeed a force to be reckoned with.

5. Resisting authority.
Whether it was your parents, teachers, bosses or anyone else in a position of authority you have a lifelong record of resisting them. You don’t go along with the agreed upon norms of the group or community you work and live in.

6. Fired from jobs.
When it comes to working with others you’re too creative for your own good. You may have some history, as I do, of losing jobs. Being a cog in the wheel is very difficult for you because you want to create something others can be inspired by and be a part of with their own contributions.

7. Obsessed
You may have been labeled obsessive because when you get started on something you have a difficult time letting go of it. Don’t let anyone convince you that this is a disease or deficiency. All great entrepreneurs become completely immersed in their vision — obsessed. Howard Schultz stuck with Starbucks, even when his family tried to persuade him to let go of his ‘little’ coffee shop. Steve Jobs was told the iPhone was a bad idea and to abandon the project by colleagues.

8. Unable to unwind.
Sleeping is not an option because you can’t turn your thoughts off. Your ideas may even manifest themselves in your sleep — your mind is never turned off or on vacation. The next morning you’re still consumed with the idea, distracting you from the job you’re supposed to be doing.

9. Not fitting into the norm.
You have always been a little uncomfortable in your own skin—until you get used to the idea you’re in fact different from most people. It could prove to be a problem or exactly the motivation you need to acknowledge the entrepreneur screaming to get out.

10. Bad at small talk.
You aren’t any good at making the kind of small talk so many people get comfort from. The social pattern of relationships and rapport building seem like a waste of time to you and makes you uncomfortable.

11. Scared to go solo.
Your inner entrepreneur is scared of going out on your own, but you’re also terrified of not doing so. This fear is very common in our society because we’ve been conditioned to think being an entrepreneur is riskier than getting a “day job.” The reality is there is instability in both.

12. Ready to improve everything.
You always see how you could do things better. You are likely opinionated and freely give your two-cents about your better way of doing things — even if you’re not asked
Business10 Things No One Will Tell You About Being An Entrepreneur by adexsng(op): 10:51am On Sep 08, 2017
The talk about entrepreneurship always sprouts excitement. You’re told how you’d be your own boss, set your own time, make a lot of money, and probably live happily ever after. While some of these details could be true, many never achieve all, and this is primarily because they never knew what they were getting into. Before you quit your day job, or outrightly convince yourself that you don’t have to work for anyone, here are 10 things no one will ever tell you about being an entrepreneur that you must know:

1). It Will Take A While To See Returns On Your Investment:
A new business usually takes time to generate any real revenues. Sometimes it could take you between 6 months to 2 years before you even come any close to being profitable. Patience is key for entrepreneurs. You need to prove your business model solves a real problem for the target customers, and would add value to their lives. As you convince people to patronize your business, your customer base will grow, and you’ll eventually start to see some returns on your investment.
2). You Can’t Do It All Alone:
You can’t be your own accountant, financial officer, designer, human resource manager, marketer, social media expert, and many more all at once. Delegation is an important element of success in any business, and if you’re going to see good results any time soon, you’ll have to divide tasks among the best people you can find though this may come at a cost-which you are trying to avoid as a starter.
3). Every Target, Milestone, And More, Takes A Longer Time To Manifest Than You Think:
It’s important to know that everything will take longer than you think to happen. You need to master your emotions before you start to realize that the plans you wrote down on a piece of paper months or even a year ago, hasn’t still manifested. Convincing customers to trust your business can take a while, hitting a certain milestone can take a while, and getting that investment you desperately need can also take longer than you expect. Knowing that every plan you write down might take longer, will help better prepare you for what lies ahead as an entrepreneur
4). You Must Become A Smart Hustler:
You must chase every sale lead. No one is going to lay a bed of roses for you to lie on. You’d have to hustle every step of the way, get rejected a lot, get disrespected a lot, and do most of the work yourself because, no one is going to be there to do it for you. It’s incredibly tougher when you’re just starting out. You might be alone at that point or have a co-founder you work with. You’ll need to set goals and milestones for yourself on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis. And strife endlessly to hit your targets. For this is key to your success as an entrepreneur.
5). You Will Miss That Steady Paycheck:
Months without any income will make you wish you still had that steady paycheck you initially enjoyed. You’ll pay for the services your business subscribes to first, you’ll have to set aside your staff salaries also, and account for many other expenses. After a thorough disbursement of cash at the end of every month, you might have nothing left to yourself. At least, at the start of your business. But over time, things will change.
6). You Will Doubt Yourself A Lot:
Did I start out too early? Is this the right product I should be selling? Why are people not patronizing my business? Self-doubt will slowly creep into your mind, and if you do not know how to manage it, you’ll be destroyed emotionally, and your business will hit the rocks. Get a mentor, have role models, get a bit of fresh air once in a while. These people and events will keep you clear headed, and help you through your times of self-doubt as an entrepreneur.
7). Things will get challenging:
When things don’t initially go according to plan, frustration starts to creep in. You could get angry, tensed, and randomly worried because, the fear of the unknown will begin to set in. Your family won’t understand why it’s taking you so long to break even, and will begin to pressurize you to either do something else or get a job. Your employees, customers, and many other factors will also begin to frustrate you. Self-awareness is critical at this phase, and it’s important you only stick with already successful people to keep your mind level-headed. The minute everything starts to turn, your sales go higher, you acquire more customers faster, and investors begin to fall in love with your business, your frustration will slowly disappear, people will begin to associate themselves with you, and you’ll be one of the happiest people you know.
cool. Your Final Business Model Might Not Be Your First Business Model:
Many businesses end up as something else years after they launched. Customers might not appreciate the first thing you put out there. The service you render most likely won’t be what people really need. But as you set out on your journey as an entrepreneur, you’ll begin to notice the hidden problems people experience every day, and how your business can adjust to take care of it. Paying attention is key, and will determine if your business survives after starting out as something nobody wants.
9). You Must Master Time Management:
Doing the right thing at the right time becomes more crucial when you become an entrepreneur. Your time was initially managed by your boss at your previous job, but if you do not manage your time well as a business owner, you’re bound for failure. Addressing customers on time, acquiring merchandise on time, paying your dues on time, and more, will get your business where it ought to be on time.
10). You Probably Still Won’t Get Rich:
After all is said and done, you still might not get to be as rich as you wanted to be. If you’re not solving a real problem people experience, not caring about the customers enough, not doing things on time, or if there’s too much saturation in the industry you want to venture into, you still might not get rich. Before you start any business, first do a highly detailed feasibility study. This will broaden your knowledge on that industry and will help you know if you can truly succeed in that field or not.

Jobs/VacanciesWhy You Should Be An Employee by adexsng(op): 1:43am On Sep 01, 2017
Despite the recent surge of articles on why you should be an entreprenuer, be your own boss, and all that...which is actually fine by some people, this write up is not to counter such articles but balance our lines of thought and consider some reasons why you just may prefer to be an employee.

1. Not every one is cut out for entreprenuership....Some people just love the 8-5, 30-days-make-a-pay lifestyle.

2. It is not a crime to be an employee. Some people just aspire to be a manager or a director in a blue chip company....I know of someone who rose from the bottom in UAC to the topmost position.

3. Employees get immense benefits e.g health scheme for you and your family, retirement pay, periodic local and foreign trainings/conferences, paid vacations...these are some great stuffs you may not afford yourself. Companies that offer these exists and you will love to work for them.

4. Less concern with the various governemtal agencies who keep knocking on you door for compliance/payment/regulation etc

5. Being an entreprenuer is not a guarantee that you will be rich or have all the time in the world. There are entreprenuers who, day in day out, do LOTS OF LOW PAY CHEQUE JOBS and never have the time or money.

6. Earn lots of money and invest for your old age.

Don't just save up money and jump into the sea of "being your own boss" without guidance. There are many sharks out there, so dont bleed.

CareerThings To Consider Before You Quit Your Job by adexsng(op): 1:08pm On Jun 21, 2016
1. Discuss with your boss.
If possible, try to discuss your concerns with your boss. You could just be jaded due to routine and a new challenge will spur you on. You probably may need more time with your family, higher wages or anything than can just be tweaked in your job.

2. Never base your decision on your emotions
There will be plenty of times when you don’t feel appreciated and want to quit, but most of these feelings go away in time. Give your job a chance and try to remember the things about the job that you enjoy. You don’t want to make a decision in the heat of the moment and regret it later. If you still feel the same way after a few weeks, then you can start to take those feelings seriously.

3. Draw out a plan
If you have given this decision extensive thought and you feel the only way to resolve your problems is to quit, then it is time to start making a plan. Don’t put in your letter of resignation before you know exactly what you will do once you resign. If you hate this job so much, will another job make you feel just as unhappy? What type of job will make you happy? Will you need to go back to school or start an online MBA degree ? You should be asking yourself these and many other questions in order to determine what you want to accomplish. You should make sure that you are doing something that makes you happy while making money in the process. Start looking for a new job, or decide to start your own business and be your own boss. You will also need to plan what you will do if your initial idea doesn’t work out. Having a backup plan could prevent you from having to go through a horrible financial situation. As you can probably guess, I didn’t have a plan when I quit that daycare job, and I ended up being unemployed for about five months. In these tough economic times, lots of people are having a difficult time finding a job. If you quit your job without a plan, you could wind up being another unemployment statistic.

4. Get your finances in order
One more thing you should do before you quit is to get all of your finances in order. You should always have an emergency fund with at least six months’ worth of expenses, and a little more than that may be necessary to make sure you don’t go into debt with this sudden job change. You should also know that you will be able to provide a stable income within a few months before you resign so that you don’t have to use up all of your savings.
If you are already struggling with your finances, it probably isn’t the best time to quit your job. Create a new goal to work hard now to get out of debt, and when you do, your reward will be the ability to quit your job. Maybe by that time, you will have learned to love your work and you won’t need to quit, but if you still do, at least you will know that you are financially stable for the time being.

Feel free to add yours.

1. You bills will increase as you get older:
You want to afford good food, study masters degree, buy a car, house, do some professional exams/training, plan your wedding …and if you can afford it go on holidays....... you can’t avoid expenses. So your bills will definitely increase and your dependence on parents will reduce because you are gradually becoming an adult who most probably will go into marital life and will have more bills to take care of as a married man/woman; so how do you intend to strike meet up?

2. You need to protect your future:
Even if you want to play if "safe"-cos it isn't really that "safe" and be an employee, or you are presently in the business of exchanging 23 working days of 9am to 5pm job-really 6am to 8pm-for a pay. Know that business is simply an exchange of value. The employer collects your time and gives you money . As long as money comes in and goes out of your hand, then you are in business. Step back a bit and look into your future as an employee. After 35 active years of working faithfully for a company or companies, you will be kicked out on the basis of old age/expended productive years/health etc. Lets say you are 25 years now. 25+35=60….. So from the age of 60 onwards, what will you be doing? Where will the money come from? You would have used your productive years to build another persons empire. Dont get me wrong please.
