Wunaarroon69: You’re also an applicant so I can understand that you’re only trying to be positive and motivate yourself for Canada. However do not try to downplay U.K. as well. If you feel that Canada is better, thats your perception & it’s okay.
But do not discourage someone that wants to try somewhere else after 2 refusals. There’s a place destined for everyone. I’ve seen people that made in the last place you can think of. Even Canada is not guaranteed if you don’t have employable skills to get a job & PR after.
All The Best Won’t talk on this again Ok goodluck. |

Wunaarroon69: It’s not me, my visa already got approved.
Just saying that your chances after 2nd refusal is already low. You’re already looking too desperate. U.K. is introducing two years post study visa from next year. It’s up to the individual to hustle out a job to remain after that visa expires & not the government.
It’s up to him anyway And you just said it like getting the job is a piece of cake in UK. Canada is still by far a better option. Note that the post study visa has not been enforced yet. They just said it with their mouth. Keep pushing for Canada. Instead of UK go to Australia. |

Visa Officers are being silly these days. Yes, I understand your concern but think about your future. What shall it profit a man to hustle out of Nigeria to UK and get sent back after studies? One last shot might be it! I know people that got their visas even around november when a lot of people got denied here. Although they used consultants and i didn't ask them the trick they used. Just give it another try. I believe all will be soft this time. |

Owoch: Alhamdulillah! Alhamdulillah!! Alhamdulillah!!! I have wanted to do this for a very long time but finally, I am blessed with enough time. Masha Allah. since I'm done with my last paper for the term I've decided to give back to this forum this way and any other way I can.
Please gear up for a long post.
2017 October 1st application 2017 December rejected Fanshawe college: PGD Human Resource Management the reason; purpose of visit and travel history used a travel agent in Nigeria.
2nd Application; May 2018 Lakehead University most of us know what happened to applications during this period. I had to wait for 1 year plus with enough fasting and prayers. lord knows I've never been that committed to my religion as I did during that period. At one point I almost withdrew my application but people of God like Frankrobbn1 and Naijaforeigner convinced me to hold on. Approvals kept coming in for fellow nairalanders but mine was in oblivion and I kept praying. So finally after the whole humbling and patience, God taught me:
I got my approval letter sometime around late august 2019 without medical request. I went nuts that night, just went out of the house and came back inside like 100 times. LOL. crazy memory. I'm laughing right now.
the next day I left home for lekki, immediately after the first crow just to avoid the traffic from Ikeja to lekki as its always very crazy. fast forward 14 days or so of normal waiting time, my passport didn't show up. another patience after all this while Ah!!! mogbe ooo!!! school resumes in days and yet passport is not showing up. my dad sent me on my way to lekki to go confirm and still the same thing seen on the online portal. temibami! who did I offend? Lol
So school resumed and everything was still the same, the passport wasn't showing up and I was going crazy at home. I already quit my job and just waiting to fly to my destination; Thunderbay. Already paid for a place to stay with another nairalander Collins, forgotten his moniker on nairaland. he is my brother from another mother now. collins left me in Naija and Japa to thunder bay and sent me a picture of my room and my head was swelling like garri. Lol. I almost entered depression and had to ask on this platform again if I could change my program and things like that.
After 2 weeks of resumption, my passport finally came back and booked a ticket immediately. omo ticket wasn't joking that period oo, paid lots to fly. left Naija Sept 20th and got to maple land; landed Toronto and I was dreading like what if I was asked why I came late and told to go back. I cant deffer because I did once already. so many questions playing on my mind and I couldn't answer all.
It got to my turn and I was summoned by a female vo vo: hello, me: hi vo: can I have your study permit and passport, please me: tendered it with a huge smile on my face vo: so why did you arrive this late me: I got my passport back really late and came as fast as I could immediately I got it vo: okay. so it's written in your letter of offer that you have a pre-requisite in mathematics. are you very good at maths because if you don't pass your pre-requisite by the end of the first term, you'll be removed from Canada me: I understand vo: who is your sponsor me: my dad vo: so he paid for your tuition and going to support your stay here in Canada? me: Yes mam vo: good, let me see your proof of funds me: passed it on to her with a smile and a tired look vo: awesome. goes to print my study permit. came back and told me she won't be including the option to work because I have to focus on my studies first before anything else me: I totally understand vo: welcome to Canada me: thank youuuuuuuuuuu
so that was it o, I had a connecting flight to thunder bay and had met a 9ja guy from frankfurt airport, so we just chilled together at the lounge changed a few bucks for a taxi, exchanged numbers and off we went on our ways to Winnipeg and thunder bay. landed around 12 am in thunder bay and had to wait outside in that cold for like 20mins because I had no internet or line to contact that I'm by the door. although I informed him I was at the airport and taking a taxi already. before collins, came to open door. yeh! what is this. who send me come! cold scatter my brain. all that swagger jacket from Naija was like foam, I was already shaking. finally, baba come open door, I run enter see my guy for the first time, hail am Naija way, the Indians for the house dey look us like we be twins, funny that's another story. na so I go crash, baba go continue to study, that time I never understand wetin Canadian education be like.
so fast forward; I went to Lakehead on Monday to report myself present and ready for the studying but he no work. I had resumed too late, one of the professor been one give me chance to catch up 3 weeks in one night, he was like '' okay i will attach you to someone but first go read chapter 3,7, 5 and 2 then come tomorrow for classes so I can introduce you to your partner''. I remembered that feeling really well that day: feeling of wasting 4 years in the Naija education system, they tried but it wasn't as deep as what I was seeing in that textbook. so I decided not to continue with it because I didn't come to Canada just for coming sake and burn 21k cad for fun, so I contacted my agent who is a certified consultant by CIC and she gave me all the info I needed and decided to change to the University of Manitoba for Human Resource Management. To cut the long story short, I sat down for 3 months mostly playing Fifa. my Indian friends for house come even bring me one video for youtube make I watch '' smoke shisha play Fifa'' because I played too much Fifa. something wey dem no born me well to try when I resumed school. I finally resumed in January and now done with the first term.
P.S: this is not to talk down on anyone, but please if you know you aren't the type that studies or can sit on his or her own and pass please look for another country to go or better still express entry. if you are an average student trust me you'll catch up because of the teaching style and the Naija spirit wey no dey carry last. please consider your option carefully as schooling in Canada is extremely stressful. i am giving this info so you can know what you are coming into. the devil will not use us to burn thousands of dollars o. copyright is real here, plagiarism is real here. get caught; get expelled. ILEYA NI YEN O.
That's my own story people and I want to give special thanks to Jnyuwa02, Frankrobbn1, and Naijaforeigner for the support they have been giving on this platform. he no easy. I doff my cap to yall.
I can't write everything but I wrote what I remembered. as time goes ill keep updating you guys. My current view Much Love From Winnipeg So sorry about your experience with the agent. Congrats on your Japa. |

However hope you know you dont get internship opportunity at Memorial Uni? Experience gotten during internship will later prove highly valuable when you commence job search after graduating..Why not try Sait/Nait/UofA or other schools where you are sure of getting internship opportunities.Cheers Because of the expenses. I am going for a coursework. Would coursework not expose me more to practicals? MUN is cheaper than the other options. |

damilola1978: Not necessarily but the truth is you're most likely going to use your O&G cert to find a job rather than your Mech cert...like Salford said and with my own experience as regards Reliability Engineering...your opportunity would be more interms of different industries and unlike Nigeria, Canada is very intense on maintainability because machine build, deployment or construction is highly expensive...hence the need for people who can actually access the reliability of machinery and adequately improve PM/CM, MTTR and MTBF but then again you cant go wrong on doing your O&G cert Thanks so much. I truly appreciate |

salford1: The oil industry in Canada has been struggling since the oil wahala of 2014. Over 70% of Canada's oil is in Alberta, and out of that 80% is bitumen/heavy crude. This means it is expensive to mine. Canada's major producers need a break even price of circa $50 a barrel. I am sure you know what crude oil prices are going for nowadays.
I was affected by the glut in 2015. Moved away from Alberta to work in a different industry in Sask. My current employer somehow pushed me back into oil related projects all over Saskatchewan. I was happy these projects were small producers mining light crude with lower production costs.
However, the moment this covid began plus the Saudi/Russia issue, oil prices took a further beating, so these light crude producers have started cutting back too. Just about 15 min ago, I received an email about more oil related projects being cancelled. I have been receiving such emails since last week. I have kept myself busy working on non-oil projects.
I am not sure if this is an industry you would like to get into. I had the believe that things would return to the way they were pre 2014 era, but 6 years later, the industry is still struggling coupled with the fact that renewable energy is picking up steam . This is probably why damilola1978 encouraged you to switch to Reliability Engineering. With Reliability or Mech, you can get a job in the O&G plus other industries. If just O&G, then you will be restricting yourself to one particular industry. Thank you so much. Since i have a bachelor's degree in mechanical from Nigeria, would a master's degree from oil and gas engineering still limit me to o&g? What course did you study? |

Naijaforeigner: If you are a first time applicant, I see no reason why you should write 7 pages. That is information overload, totally unnecessary.
If you are reapplying, you will definitely need to write more and address issues raised by the Visa officer. However, 7 pages still too much. That's about 3,500 words. Please note, there Is no word limit for LOE but make sure your information is straight to the point and not filled with things not related to your application.
If you write too much, you may end up leaving the visa officer asking more questions than answers.
Although, If you feel convinced to write 7 pages, please go ahead. I have seen someone with over 6 pages of LOE on this forum approved. Just make sure it is well spaced and arrange each sections properly using subheadings.
Can you use 3 sponsors? On CIC website, there is no limit on number of sponsors an applicant can use but wisdom is profitable to direct. Take a step back and try to see your application through the eyes of a visa officer and you will get answers to most of your questions. What impression does an applicant with 3 sponsor give a visa officer? Who are the 3 sponsors?
My opinion, use a max of 2 sponsors. If you cannot, you can try your luck with 3. Luck/grace also plays a role in this process. All the best and Happy Easter. Okay. I will have to cut-out some information. I just hope i won't be cutting out important things. I tried as much as possible to explain everything in my LOE using sub-headings. I just hope i am doing the right thing. |

JustMellow: Hello NwanyiOkpa,
Each application isn't the same like the personal circumstances of the applicant. Literally, the financial situation and other proof of establishment of sponsors who has a direct relationship to the applicant ought to cover the applicant. However, because of the discretion VOs applies to scrutinize applications, as a matured or applicant with a work related experience, its advisable to include one. In its own minute way, it creates certain perspective of your activeness in terms of employment and other areas associated with your level of establishment. If its up to me, I will definitely advise you to include one no matter how small the closing balance and even at that your sponsors are financially capable. This means the VO won't place all focus on yours.
In as much as there is no limit on the number of sponsors, with the analysis you gave to the house, the two of them are already capable. My own personal opinion if I own the application is using just 2 sponsors without an additional third or rather the third can write a Letter of Support to either make a financial commitment justification or promissory intent on the note that if your application is approved. You can also get one of them to transfer certain amount of funds to the other. Though there is no harm using all three of them.
Yes, there is no harm at all. You can use it to strengthen the reasons why you chose Canada as a study destination and creating a notion that Canada is not a do affair as a destination to study. I repeat there is no harm of whatsoever.
All the best I like the idea of asking one to send funds to the other but won't that be suspicious? How can one explain the large amount that is sent from one account to the other? |

Happy Ester,
I have been following this thread. I have drafted my SOP as concise as possible and it has run to about 7 pages. An agent recommended that i make it 2 pages max. I am just wondering how i could do that because i might end up removing vital information.
Also, how risky is it to have three sponsors?
What do you think? |
