PoliticsRe: Cooking Gas Hits ₦550 Per Litre - What's The Price In Your Location? by Adol84: 10:36am On Aug 15, 2021
Let me give you a quick solution to this madness. If you have steady power supply in your area, get yourself a good electric stove in order to save expenses. Perhaps get two in one or three in one electric stove. I pay exorbitant bills for power supply though am still using the old meter. I use gas cooker and electric stove. I can't be paying exorbitant bills and light will be wasting for nothing. I only use the gas cooker if there is no power supply. A filling station attendant told me that it would reach #1,000 during the festive period. But, if you are using the prepaid meter, do not use the electric stove coz it drains the credit like a child who sucks his mother's breasts.

Yet, you guys turn blind eyes. Now, it has happened to a diplomat, you guys are crying wolves. It is even good that it happened to him coz you guys don't care about the feelings of other Nigerians. Poor thought sir!! He wasn't killed because he flaunted his wealth, he died because of the foolishness (ie wickedness) of people like you
. There's no crime in living his life, a society comprises of different types of people. Learn that today or one day you'll become one of those envious, hateful, myopic killers !!
. Oga, forget about being envious or jealous of one's wealth. The truth is, some people are yet to learn to stop flaunting wealth on the social media in the face of the poor people. Before the advent of the social media, people had been living without showing off. Most deaths and kidnappings are as a result of the show off on the social media. Most people are very hungry. Are you using the wealth to intimidate them or push them into depression? If you want to show off, do it privately by helping the indigent.

The truth is, you are not being prudent in spending. It seems like you sepnd extravagantly. I am sorry about the remarks coz I mean no harm. Since you are not paying house rent and not spending on transportation, you should be able to save very well. Open another bank account without atm card and app, as soon as you are paid, transfer 40k or 50k to the account, then use the rest to take care of the family needs. I am a government secondary teacher. At my grade level now, I am not paid more than 50k. But, as my level goes up, the salary goes up. Yet, I save some money every month and I intend to settle down soon. Even here in the South East, things are getting skyrocketing day by day. I used to live in a room and parlour but had to leave coz of the high cost of the house rents at 20k monthly. If you take alcohol or spend on women, reduce it. Plan yourself and push out your money to the new account immediately it enters. Better days are coming. Live well.

She's a child, and the parents had no knowledge. It is the governments obligation to pay through the taxes earned. Children are like that, they go around playing with stuff.

This is the reason African parents need to buy more toys for their children. That could be one of the reason.

And even if the government pays, the returns would still come back to the government (us) so it's no big deal.
You may be right in your words. But, I strongly doubt if the Nigerian government will even pay a kobo for this painful disaster. Even if it promises to pay, it will take many years for it to be paid. The Nigerian government is so slow in fulfilling promises.

Teenaira:
Sir, I don't totally agree with you. There are lots of Nigerians who moved to foreign countries and that totally changed their destiny. Just to mention a few. Look at footballers. Any footballer in Nigeria as at today is likely to die in poverty. If the same footballer is just privileged to be signed on by a foreign country, he or she is made for life. Look at footballers like Mikel obi, Obafemi Martins, Alex Iwobi, kelechi Ihenacho etc, etc, etc. I believe this few men I have mentioned and many more playing football in foreign land could not have had 1% of their current net worth if they had been in Nigeria. I only used football as an example sir. There are several other areas of life where our people have done so well abroad and many more are still making waves. Infact, developed countries have over the years provided opportunities for our people who are focused and disciplined to get to heights which they could never have been able to get to if they have remained in Nigeria. Who knows maybe you too sir, may have achieved a lot more than what you have achieved now if you have moved in 1987.
The truth is that Nigeria has continued to degenerate into poverty because those who are managing Nigeria do not have the right competences and capacity to manage the resources of the country for the benefit of Nigerians. This, I can tell you for free sir, because it is not space science. I also believe sir, that this trend may not change in the immediate future if this error is not corrected. If you have been privileged to work with any of the multinational companies sir, you will notice how much they commit to strategic planning and subsequent implementation of such plans. That is the secret sir for their continuous growth. You will notice they have being using style to relocate from Nigeria one by one while still putting up strategies to harness the huge market here. I am very sure sir that Nigerians will stop going abroad when they see signs of a better future here sir. Infact, most of those going now are doing so as a strategy to secure the future of their future generation knowing fully well that Nigeria may not correct the leadership problem and therefore face a bleek future sir.
This is just my personal opinion sir, I stand to be corrected.
You spoke very well. And even if Nigeria remained one for many years to come, 8t won't change anything. Nigeria was better than Dubai many years ago, now Dubai is now much and much better than Nigeria. With lots of oil in both countries, one of the countries carefully and wisely thiers to develop their country. While the other is ravaging in terrorism, poverty and lack of infrastructures.

Bro this is one of my worst nightmares, hustling in the UK like I am better off then after many years i realise, i was just paying bills and tax in another mans country for absolutely no reason. No one knows how future Nigeria is going to be, but i have a feeling Nigeria will never get better. Like just how the old people in 1980 kept complaining, those in 2021 too complaining , those in 2040 too will just about complain about how expensive things are. So, are you saying living in the UK may not help you achieve something back home? I know of some people who are living in the UK, but they are doing well. Though there are different destinies, people have different ways of working hard.

But i think having one leg in Nigeria and one leg outside Nigeria is just about the best. Look at the real estate situation in lekki right now. They no even born anyone doing menial jobs outside Nigeria to afford it but it is still being bought by both those at home and abroad who have extremely good wealth.

Wishing everyone the best in thier hustle ooo

Wonder why you are attacking him. He accomplished in Nigeria what he wouldn’t have accomplished in USA. Everybody’s situation/case is different and best to do what works for you. One of my father’s friends became ACCA certified in the mid - 80s. They were less than 10 in Nigeria then but he kept complaining about the problems of Nigeria and relocated to U.K. working one contract job to another. The best he got out of it was a council house which he lived in till he passed on early this year. He insisted on being buried in Nigeria claiming he had suffered too much in the England. Know what you have and do what works for you.
Then, people were begged to take jobs and there influx of Ghanaians afterwards which birthed Ghana must go later. There were bountiful of jobs then than now. No steady power supply to get oneself self-employed, no good infrastructures to make things work. I ask, why do they travel abroad for medical treatments while others die back home for the same reason. See, the problem of Nigeria is bigger than me to carry on the head like a gala seller. I rather be in a country where infrastructures are readily available for use. The sufferings here and there are not the same. They get levels. The sufferings in a good country can give much money than here. I see people suffering here and it seems endless.

I do the one I am good at and intend to do more in order to have more income. Those people by the roadside are good at what they do. Even the harsh economy now is not sparing any of us. The salary earners, businessmen, roadside traders, companies and many more are feeling the heat of wrong policies. If Nigeria is fixed properly, not too many people would think of migrating.

The poorest Nigerian spend over 10k monthly just to fuel their I better pass my neighbor generator. You are really from another planet. I can categorically tell you as a government civil servant, the salary is nothing to write home about. Even the new minimum wage is yet to be implemented. Private teachers are big paid 20k, or 30k. And you are here talking shits. Wake up from slumber.

There are more opportunities there because the people use their brain, Nigeria have more natural resources more than a lot of the countries they are going for greener pastures but they lack the mental capacity to build.....

Just like black is the opposite of white.....

. I agree with you on Nigeria having lots of natural resources. But, the resources are not well and properly utilised. The minimum wage is shit. As a government secondary school teacher, the salary is not even enough for me to get a good accommodation let alone have some good savings. The Nigeria of then and now is never the same. In the UK, they have no resources, yet they are living well. We have abundance of it but cannot make use of it. The brains of our leaders are completely dead.

true but many would have been more successful back home. Go there and seek opportunity, then come back home and apply it and you'd never regret it. I know friends who are professionals in the USA doing odd jobs. I remember my friend who was a chartered accountant before relocating. He's merely feeding from hand to mouth now.
. You cannot compare the bountiful opportunities there and here. The economy there is doing well. If the government of Nigeria really wants to fix this country and stopping people from migrating, then they should do the needful by stopping the jumbo salaries they're being paid. Nigeria is getting bad day by day.

I don't know if the highest earning Nigerian living overseas can match me in revenues monthly. I give them money each time I enter America. Ordinary 100 dollar is like giving them millions.
. And how are you helping those wallowing in abject poverty here? The truth is, the economy then and now is not the same. The economy then was booming well than now. The chances of making it in Europe or in America are more than here.

Hmmmm. This kind of posts will eventually be used against Nairaland. No matter what you do, remember that you have a social and legal obligation to clean your platform of this kind of hate speech. This 'new' nairaland has turned to a breeding ground for youths who hide behind the anonymity you created here to spread hate. It's your job to stop them before government suspends Nairaland. This is not freedom of expression, it is not exercising freedom of expression when you make hate speech and then hide your identity to temporarily avoid being held to account for the consequences of spreading hate. This issue of Nairaland being used to spread hate and bigotry will be presented as a serious case of urgent public importance.
