Business / Re: Owning A School by adomidoben: 2:11am On Sep 09, 2007
The originator of this NAIRALAND has never ask money from anyone. NAIRALAND is non- profit and a big enlightenment and knowlege desemination outfit designed free from any form of exploitatative and dubious tricks. It is aburd for Didisky to ask for a fee from a member asking for genuine advise on how to set up a school. Please let us all keep faith with the objectives of this talkshop.

My advise concerning setting up of educational outfit are as follows:

ASSETS

1. You already have a M.Ed. You are already skilled in the job with your job experience.
2. You have a flat.
3. You probably did not have enough fund - I guess, but you have landed property.

Setting up of school required adequate funding. Please do not borrow. Use what you have to get what you want. You may start with creche and later graduate to nursery and later primary and so on. Make sure the environment is clean. let us know the amont you have as take off fund. then we may advise you the more

Politics / Re: Naira To Be Re-Denominated by adomidoben: 8:01am On Aug 16, 2007
To members and Chiefs of the house, I say well done. I have read lots of expert opinion on this thread. They were all educative. This topic is far from political discussion where sentiments prevail. The policy of Naira re-decimation should not be viewed as a Soludo thing. The policy is part of the Economic policy of the government of the day. Let us leave politics out of this discussion. My humble contibution in this piece is to explain the effect of this policy to a layman who have no knowlege of Economic theories. At the end of it all we shall be able to know the effect of what the policy is all about.
1.  N100 of today which equal $1 will  equal #1.25kobo  as from August 2008. What this means is that all things being equal, a loaf of bread which sell for #100 today will still sell for #1 as from the time specified above. What your salary can buy today will still be what your salary will buy. If you export 50 liters of palm oil today at $50 0r 50Lt x N125 = N6,250.00. As at next year when the policy commence, you will export at the same $50 and receive N62.50kobo. In general trem, the nominal value of Naira changed but the real value of Naira remain same. The nominal value of what a road side vulcanizer earn for inflating your vehilce tyre reduced 100 fold in nominal value, but what he will use the money he received as at next year still remain same.
2. Nigerians will gain more if household productivity increase by way of employment. Standard of living will incrrase if there is increase in the earning power of the citizen. increase in  salary and wages will be meaningless if there is general increase in the price level.
3.  Governemnet must subsidise agricultural imputs to boost Agriculture. Corruption must be reduced to the bearest minimum. Pump price of oil products must be kept constant, if possible subsedice them.
4. If there is not fiscal and monetray discipline on the part of the government, inflation will rubbish what ever gain we wnaty to achieve from the new polcy.
Religion / Re: I'm A Free Thinker: Does That Mean I Won't Go To Heaven? by adomidoben: 7:04am On Aug 06, 2007
Hu m m m m!! Free thinker, Heaven, Hell, your God, their Gods etc. These are the reactions of some of our people in the house. I could see that more of the contributors so far tilted their arguments in favour of the REVEREND from UK. While it is easier for someone who is enjoying all the benefits of this earth in the advanced world like UK to come up with a notion that all things exist for itself without any supernatural superior power controlling them, same can not be said of an average Nigeria toiling day in day out searching for crumbs to eat. Mr. REVEREND pls relocate from UK to Nigeria. There, you will know that GOD exists.
Do you believe that there are witches and wizard? Do you know how they operate? How can one use science to explain the activities of a witch who sleeps at say Abuja and at the same time operating in Canada - the journey can be completed within seconds. If planet earth is spherical as scientists proved which I have no doubt about, how can one prove the abilities of the magicians? If one agrees that some people have supernatural powers to do evil and also do good, how can one proof these scientifically? Science is in the domain of realism while religion is in the domain of idealism.
There are evil spirits in which devil - Satan is their master. So also, there are angel/Malaika [Christianity/Judaism/ Islam beliefs] Even in the Yoruba beliefs, there are Iwin, Oro etc[mystical beings who lives in the trees, rocks etc] If Iwin or Oro can live inside trees or inside rocks, which kind of scientific explanation can one use for this.
Hell exist so also Heaven! God exist so also Satan. God Created heaven and earth. If one dies, the body decays in the earth while the soul travel out of the body waiting the Day of Judgment. QED! [/color]

Religion / Re: What You Dont Know About Ifah And The Yorubas - A Letter I Got by adomidoben: 1:24am On Aug 04, 2007
I believe that the writer must have studied comparative religion. He could have used his knowlege best by educating us the more. The piece is more confusing. There have been all these postulations here and there that YORUBA or IGBO migrated from middle east! How come. The yorubas will tell you that their cradle is Ile Ife - Good there is no doubt about this. Please, intelligent people in the house, what resemblance do Ile Ife People have with the Arabs or the Isrealis. These people in the middle east are light skin more or less white, coily long hair, long nose, etc. The chief of their food are bread and meat. TYheir occupation then was cattle rearing and farming. If actually they flee from middle east to a location in Nigeria, they could have best settle at the northern part of the Nigeria where the climate and vegetation resemble where they were alleged to have migrated from. Likewise, the theory surrounding IGBO as lost tribe of Isreal.

Nairaland / General / Nuclear Power Plant Begings 2011 In Nigeria [news] by adomidoben: 12:45am On Jul 28, 2007
According to the Director-General of the Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission (NAEC), Dr Franklin Erepamo Osaisai said the cost of running a nuclear power plant was more cost effective than other technologies, though initial funding is usually capital intensive , adding that the return on investment is much more faster. Nigeria through the commission hopes to generate 1,000MW in 2017 and increase it to 4,000MW in 2027. Please I need your Comment.

Agriculture / Re: Pig Farming Or Fish Farming? by adomidoben: 7:49am On Jun 25, 2007
Pat Dozie, This is serious. Someone must have given you feasibility study telling you how will be making millions within half of year if you put so so and so money into fish farming. They will never tell you the other side of the story. One can produce any quantity of a product wioth certain amont of unit cost. If one leaves out sales variant, then one may run into trouble. I am also pleading to all, for any one who knows how to market the left over fishes, pls dont hesitate to say so.

Instead of fish farming, why not piggery? Any answer.

3.    Caliber and number of staff
4.   Estimated cost apart from bulding
5.  Location of any standard day care/playgroup in Lagos that one can visit for experience sake

To everybody in the house,  please which computer desktop configuration is ok for home use. The specification must take care of the following: high speed, internet, DVD writer and rugged for children/parents handling. Do you advise on clone, Tokunbo or branded new one. Please present your explaination in clear english and not the usual broken english.
