phamarsenal: don't knw why everybody is lashing out on mikel, dis guy is one of Nigeria most technically gifted players and we should learn to appreciate him, take ur mind bk to Nigeria vs Spain even though we lost d match u all could see hw he single handedly marshalled our midfield. d guy is more or less a defensive midfielder nw and our success in dis tournament would depend on hw siasia uses him and put him in is preferred position which is d central r defensive midfield position where he can protect d defense and pik out passes both long and short ones. God forbid mikel Nigeria most technically gifted what ?? Boys that where suppose to use this tournament and shine mikel obi go take their spot... have you seen nwobodo play Have u seen Kingsley Micheal play abeg these boys are better than mikel including nwakali mikel has lost it... Mikel doesn't he a single technic they should be introducing mikel at 75 mins to calm the ball down mikel is no longer it ... |

Mikel has always been our worst player on the pitch, you know why we where able to win Mali and Luxemburg in our previous friendly is because mikel obi dint play..
Ever since the world cup in brasil have said it mikel is just a waste of space etebo would play a better 10 than mikel etebo is even a better player than mikel obi ...
have said it mikel should not be in this team ... you lots imagine a babtunde micheal in that number 10 I swear the Japanese would have gave 3 or more penalties today ... babtunde may even be too far ordinary yahaya would play a better 10 than mikel obi ...
the reason japan could even play us is because we dint have skillfull players brasil beat japan 2-0 the same brasil that couldn't beat South-Africa... you know if Nigeria meets south Africa no how dem for collect lol... mikel should be rested
Shehu played out of position Amuzie needs competition I dunno why musa Muhammed club dint release him amuzie for nor even go brasil ... etebo has been the one carrying this team all along I want Emmanuel Daniel to do well but after conceding 4 goals it seems unlikely he's a very good goal keeper on his day but bad on a bad day ...
Sadiq Umar excellent Imoh Ezekiel it seems he was played out of position today
Azubuike wasn't too good today tho
So aminu Umar would join up with the team am sure we would likely see a better squad ...
Seth and Ekong they played well but it's very funny since they are defenders and they conceded 4 goals ... |

Sports › Nigeria Male Olympic Team (Dream Team VI) Stranded In Atlanta by adrainuche(op): 8:12pm On Aug 03, 2016 |
Nigeria's Olympic football squad are stuck in Atlanta because of a problem with the payment for a flight to Rio. The delay means the men's team are expected to arrive in Brazil less than 36 hours before their opening match. "The money paid by the [sports] ministry for the charter flight did not hit airline's account on Tuesday so they refused to fly the team to Brazil," a source close to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) said. They play Japan at 0100 GMT on Friday. The problems seem to have happened due to the money having to go through different bank accounts and currency conversions. "It is a cumbersome exercise but they should have started the process much earlier, which NFF was pointing out. This issue has nothing to do with the NFF," the source explained to BBC Sport. He added that everyone in the NFF was "disturbed" by the situation because Nigeria's first game against Japan in Manaus is so soon. The BBC has spoken to several players in the party, who say they do not yet know when they will be travelling. One of the players explained: "We've been told to get ready to fly out in few hours but that's been the story since last week." Nigeria, who are in Group B of the Rio Games alongside Sweden, Colombia and Japan, boast a proud Olympic record. In 1996, they became the first African and non-European or South American team to win the gold medal. They also finished runners-up at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, where current under-23 coach Siasia also coached the 'Dream Team' in China. http://m.bbc.com/sport/football/36963812 |

Daninya11: I think this is one of the Unbalanced team Nigeria will ever parade at the Olympics..
Why waste one of the 3 slot for Overage players??. Is Emmanuel Daniel not good enough?? The guy heroic performance at the U23 nations cup was top notch. why should Siasia hand over the baton to Daniel Akpeyi??. He should have gone for Carl Ikeme.
Why would Siasia go to the tournament with 3 left full backs??.
Aside Mikel in midfield, the other midfielders are below average.
The arrows chosen to Pierce the heart of Opponents are looking as if they can't bite..
I hope Siasia will not look for a Scape goat to be blame if he fails to clinch the trophy..
We will fare well in the tournament. Lol like as if mikel is not below average |

Napoleon55: It's a shame none of the players that won us U-17 world cup three years ago will be representing us in an U-23 football event. In '96,a similar scenario presented itself and we were able to present for about five players from the all conquering '93 U-17 set for the Olympics.
This year, players like Musa Mohamed,Success and even Iheanacho ought have been the main players representing us,if proper negotiation were been carried out. How about Ifeanyi Mathew and Musa yahaya that no negotiation was needed. At least,Yahaya could play from the wings which there was no natural winger on the list. This our team no creative player, no player with flair etebo is more like a box to box player, Imoh and Aminu Umar same thing speed and force if mikel should be doing the creativity then I laugh if we would had yahaya and Mathew am certain we would be doing better I don't see why micheal Babatunde isn't on this list ... the job mikel would do on the pitch Abdulahi Shehu would do it to me ... Nigeria vs Luxemburg and Mali Shehu and Raheem Lawal did very well Babatunde was giving the assist ... Nigerian coaches SMH ... |

Icon4s: Of course you know the exceptional ones were nt released by their clubs while the others(majority) are still trying to put themselves together career-wise.
A lot of them are still U20 which makes them elligle to play in the next WYC and 2020 Olympics.
A player like Awoniyi for me is nt ready for the level of competition has been made to go through( I have been saying this all along).
The truth is same goes to a lot of that U17 set. MRI made sure there was little or no age cheating. Alot of them are still kids. 90% of those guys playing U23 would have failed the MRI had it been it works for 23yrs olds.U understand what I mean.
My opinion is Awoniyi should b sent to d U20 camp. At that level he will compete more favorably, contribute more and would also develop his skills more. Same goes for Chidera Ezeh and Musa Yahaya. Zaharadeen Bello was at the CAF U23 bt was dropped after that first game against Mali. Nothing has been heard of him ever since. He too should go compete for position with d current crop of U20 defenders.
I need nt also tell u what Ifeanyi Mathew can bring to d U20 team. The thing is Amuneke would need to know how best to combine him and K. Nwakali in d same team, for though they play similar position bt in contrasting styles.
I personally believe in career progression. Not all players' development are rapid. Some exceptional ones like Iheanacho and Success have already started making waves while some others are enjoying some loan spells and expecting some thing good at d end of it.
Some of that U17 class are even no where to b found! Eg where are Edwin Okon and Chigozie Obasi?
Okon i know recently got married. The only combination I want to see in the u20 is k nwakali and ovie ejaria ...Nigeria this should be our golden generation please... see the players all mouth watering ifeanyi Mathew would soon sign for a club to me he's already good enough not to be part of the u20 I don't even understand why he wasn't included to the u23 same as Chisom Chikatara ... |

TheGoodJoe:
Mikel was our best player at that AFCON. He is our most disciplined player. Among all our defensive midfieldersz Mikel has played and done well against great legends like Pirlo, Scholes, Xavi, Iniesta etc.
Mikel put up brilliant games against Respected Clubs like Manchester United under Alex Ferguson (Especially in his first FA Cup Triumph), Barcelona (in three games, one under Hiddink and two under Di Matteo).
Onazi is a very good player but what we need is a player that will play in an organized way. Not one who will run forward to score goals.
Mikel brings in quality no other midfielder can bring. Lol we are talking of mikel not Paul pogba !! I just feel mikel will disgrace us this tournament these are u23 fast, athletic the last time we took Osaze u saw how good he was ... I really doubt Nigeria if going to reach the final ... next I really want to see d next generation of super eagles I would love to see ndidi, mikel should rest left to me anyways Siasia ish !!! |
