Politics / Ihejirika Fires Back, Calls Nasir El-rufai A "Boko Haram Commander" by Adrenaline123(m): 9:04pm On Aug 28, 2014
KINGSLEY OMONOBI-ABUJA.

Former Chief of Army Staff, General Onyeabor Azubuike Ihejirika ,Thursday, opened a can of worms by declaring that the former minister of the Federal Capital Territory and APC chieftain, Mallam Nasir El-Rufia is one of the commanders of the Boko Haram terrorist group.

Speaking with Vanguard over allegation by the former minister that he (Ihejirika) and former Governor Modu Sheriff of Borno State were fingered as terrorists sponsors, General Ihejirika said he is not surprised that this unimaginable allegation is coming from ‘one of the Boko Haram Commanders’.

“The (Commanders) including El-Rufai know where the problem is. He should stop deceiving Nigerians by trying to divert attention”.

According to Ihejirika, “When the Boko Haram operation started, supporters of the sect like El-Rufai said that there was nothing like Boko Haram and that the army was just killing innocent youths”.

“If you also remember, not too long ago, some of their supporters including El-Rufai said that I was re-inventing the killing of the Ibos during the Biafra war following government’s determination to rid the country of terrorism.

Ihejirika who was obviously angry while speaking on phone, also said, “The likes of El-Rufai started the campaign of human right abuses, in order to divert the international attention of the heinous crime being committed by the Boko Haram terrorists”.

Gen. Ihejirika then recalled recent allegations against his person indicating that that he took away N48 billion, an amount still in the coffers of the Ministry of Defence which can be verified by anybody, adding that he was not surprised that this allegation is coming from the likes of El-Rufai who started the campaign.

Continuing the former Army Chief said, “The likes of El-Rufai have been supporting Boko Haram. In fact, El-Rufai and his likes are the same group of people that ensured the army did not to get the requested equipment to deal with this menace once and for all, as they used their cohorts to tell the government that procuring modern equipment were not necessary”.

Recalling that the same El-Rufai went to Thisday Newspaper premises to grant an interview to condemn security forces for the efforts at ridding the country of these senseless mayhem by the terrorists, Ihejirika said, “At the onset of this crisis, I was the first person to declare that the country was at war but group of sponsors led by El-Rufai disagreed, that it was not true”.

“It is the same group of El-Rufai that started the human right abuses campaign. It was done in order to block any international assistance after the state of emergency was declared and the sect was initially tamed. That gave Boko Haram time and respite to build up again”.

Furthermore, General Ihejirika said that when the United States was to initially declare Boko Haram a terrorist organization, the same El-Rufai and his group mounted pressure on the international community, using alleged human right abuses as campaign strategy.
The former Army Chief revealed that this same group including El-Rufai have taken further steps in support of Boko Haram, “which I cannot disclose for now”.

It will be recalled that shortly after his tenure came to an end as COAS, some Northern political elites started the crusade for General Azubuike Ihejirika to be summoned before the International criminal Court in the Hague claiming that he killed their sons and daughters, whereas, Ihejirika did a lot in helping the nation contain the rapid spread of Boko Haram insurgency in the country.

He not only established the 7th Division of the Nigerian Army with headquarters in Maiduguri, he established new Army Brigades, Counter Terrorism Schools in Kachia and Jaji as well as the Terrorism Training School.
El rufai threw the first salvo, Thursday, when he named Ali Modu Sheriff and Ihejirika as Boko Haram sponsors and “kingpins”. In posts on his Facebook and Twitter pages, the former minister cited Australian crisis negotiator Stephen Davis, who alleged the duo were key elements of the insurgency on Arise News.

Mcbussy:

Guy,join the army and pick up arm if u feel u can do better....its a natural thing to run for cover when faced with overwhelming fire power.

Go and watch documentaries about the best militaries and their operations.you'll realise the kind of air and tactical support and assistance they give to their soldiers.even their assault rifles are more sophisticated than ours. Check out the american M4A1 assault rifle for example,it has a sniper scope that can help u take out an enemy from a distance where he(d enemy) can only try his luck at hitting you.

Here they'll give you a Kalashnikov with 2 magazines and ask you to go and face 20mm calibre machine guns....what do u expect? angry

Infact, you brain is very correct. Well said.

does Russia build weapons and share it like candy?.There are different types of AK-47 licensed in a lot of countries in the world. even Nigeria has its own variant (OBJ-006) Israel (IMI Galil) Finland (RK 62 76) Poland (Karabinek-granatnik) etc. Not Every AK looking gun is Russian made. they all look alike and you can get them anywhere.

M16 and most of the other NATO guns are not licensed to be mass produced in another country apart from maybe in China or Canada
Insurgents use weapons that can withstand rigorous terrains it is only logical

They wont think twice before using it on who exactly?

Yes they build them and sell them in large quantities, an excerpt from wiki

"Since the end of the Cold War, the Kalashnikov has become the Russian people's greatest export. After that comes vodka, caviar, and suicidal novelists. One thing is for sure, no one was lining up to buy their cars."
http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/AK-47#cite_note-111

You said it has various models from different countries, now let me ask you, who gave out the engineering prototype? Russians knew too well that they have innovated one of the most deadly weapons of all time and they whole-heartedly distributed the engineering procedures to whosoever they want without considering the consequences. Hope you've seen Boko Haram videos, what to they use, Shekau wields Kalashnikov made by the Russians who only care about the wealth.

Another statement culled from wiki

"For these reasons, in the U.S. and Western Europe the AK-47 is stereotypically regarded as the weapon of choice of insurgents, gangsters and terrorists. "

Not only the AK's, what of the RPG anti tank weapon by Russia over 9 miilion circulating the globe, what of the PKM assault rifle, over 1 million in circulation and many other more.

However, concerning the Arab nuclear saga, I said they would not hesitate to use it on their adversaries, Iran being a die-hard Israeli enemy would not hesitate to wipe them off if she acquires one. More comprehensively, I mean they would use it on their enemies because fighting and anarchy run in their blood, Arabs are very sensitive to agitations they can go to any extent to wipe of their enemies. They are ready to die, an Arabian suicide bomber would be elated to handle an Uranium improvised nuclear bomb. They will not use it well. Period!!!

You people just talk about what you dont know.
Pakistan has nuclear weapons and they are Muslims, so how many warheads are missing there? You think you can just stroll inside a country and pay to get nukes?

So Russia manufacture AK 47 and share them with extremists? or haven't you heard about what people call the black market? and because most insurgents choose to use the cheapest and most reliable weapon, we should blame the country of origin?

Russia is supporting the Arabs yet killing their own Muslim population is Dagestan ,Chechnya and Ingushetia?
What is wrong in helping another country build a civil nuclear power plant?

Learn about Foreign affairs and stop embarrassing yourself online.
Hey miss, this is a discussion, anyone has rights to say his/her mind, I made point, counteract my views only, make your suggestions and please don't vituperate my personality.

I still keep my word, Russia is the world's problem. Hope you see short video clips of terrorist actions, they wield nothing else but Russian Kalashnikov's, only. The US has its M model assault rifle, how many insugent orgs have you seen with M4's and M16 rifles or maybe the Isreali Uzi or the German G3. Even if the demand is high, why can't they produce and sell it officially knowing fully well that its a deadly weapon. They go about producing kalashnikov's haphazardly distributing them en masse to whoever they care needs a weapon for whatsoever reason they want it for.
I say this because whenever I watch short clips of insurgents the perform their mayhem with Russian facilities.
Why can't production be controlled and distributed religiously?

Concerning the advanced nuclear machines, I still say that the Arabs don't deserve it because they are very radical. They won't think twice before using it. That the pakistani has theirs does not mean any arab nation which wants theirs too should be given a go ahead chance, just like the it's being done to Iran.

Now that I have given my points did I lambast you? Learn to do constructive arguments devoid of melancholy which won't lead to any verbal unrest.

Mere rabble-rousing, he ruled for almost 40 years or more. How does that sound, how can that be close to democracy, only one person in power for 40 years. This speech will touch those who don't know greedy politicians.

Iran don buy market, any injury inflicted on Israel will agitate the west US UK.
They will surely retaliate.

I won't support any Arab nation to get a nuclear war head.
1. They are radical
2. Terrorists orgs might hijack the facility.

Russia has been causing troubles here and there, 85% of terrorists armory are manufactured by them take for instance the AK's and so one. Russia will always support its allies mainly the Arab world and North Korea on any ground even if they are dpoing wrong. They will always castigate any western policy.
The nuclear facilities Iran claims to have was technology from Russia, thats why Russia supports them concerning oweing a nuclear facility.
