OloriOfMontreal: Thank you! This is very detailed and helpful, I appreciate it.
Did your spouse print your scanned front and back photo on an A4 paper or did he use a passport material? The challenge is we don't know what material is acceptable to print on. (I.e., if an A4 paper will be acceptable with the front picture and back details) Are you doing online application or paper? |

OloriOfMontreal: Hi,
I have one more question; when you submitted your 2 passport photographs with your application, how did you go about it?
Was it printed and mailed to your spouse to submit? Or did your spouse had to print on a white plain sheet? Or did you submit the application from your end?
cc: adveert002
Thanks I took the pictures made the studio sign at the back of one of the pictures I also wrote my full name behind the picture too then scanned the front and back picture to him Also the studio CEO wrote his full details and signed on a A4 paper I also wrote my full details on it and scanned the A4 paper to my spouse |

Goodmorning guys So it's 2 month and some days since I submitted my application and no AOR yet. So i decided to go to the portal to check on my application status, after I loggged in. The tab brought up what I applied for, submitted and the day I submitted but no application name, I also could not open the tab. Please is this a normal scenario or I should be worried |

Funjay: My case is peculiar. If not that I have a good job and I am not that desperate to leave, I can imagine the frustration it could have brought.
Got married Jan. 2020, we were both widows with kids from our late spouses. After pressure from my wife, I decided to submit application for me and my 2 kids in July 2020.
Application: July 2020 AOR: January 28th 2021 Medicals: April 2021 Medical passed May 3rd 2021 Correspondence 1, interview request. October 21, interview done at IOM in Ikeja and updated as completed. Pre arrival: October 28
Till now, nothing. My application page on IRCC remains same. I checked for status on another platform.and I saw decision made probably since October. We had a new baby since September 1st 2021 and I have not seen her. I don't know what else to do.
Planning to put in for visiting by February if nothing comes up before then.
My V.O is Accra, seems they have lots of backlog there.
Application status on my IRCC online account reads we are processing your application and we will send you a message once final decision has been made.
Background check, we are processing Review of eligibility- we are reviewing whether you meet the eligibility requirements, this has not changed since like forever.
I don't like the idea of GCMS note that takes almost 3months, it proves nothing to me and I don't like to contact any M.P.
Any other useful suggestions? This is really not fair |

Such great news congratulations So happy for you obilec: LANDING GIST!
I just landed in Canada few hours ago via Ethopian airlines from Lagos Airport.
I registered on arrive can, switch health, and printed all documents before arriving Lagos airport. The guy who pushed my trolley attempted to scam me 7500 for yellow card, amongst other scams, but I remembered narrations on nairaland so I didn’t fall for any. I didn’t spend any money during the journey, but you can give tips as the Spirit leads.
After showing my passport, I passed my bags through the machine just near the Lagos airport door. I then went straight to Ethiopian airlines check-in counter admist the crazy queue. Those check-in staff are not smiling, be prepared with your documents make them nor delay you. My bags didn’t exceed the limit & I suggest you go at least 4-5 hours before the flight just incase.
After about 4 more security checks, I boarded & arrived addis ababa some hours later where I was able to use the free airport wifi to update loved ones. Ethiopian airlines was ok, nothing bad to say. It was a long flight & having to seat for so long in such confined space does a number on the body.
Arrived Toronto Pearson quite early in the morning & I think that plays a role in how relaxed the airport & staff were as I wasn’t subjected to much questioning. Having all documents on hand in paper really helps. Make sure you’re organized & calm, your documents may speak for you & questions were minimal to none in my case. Don’t be afraid to ask polite questions when looking for directions or clarity.
Since I registered with switch health, I was directed to a shorter queue for arrival covid test which was the last stop before finally exiting the airport. I didn’t pay for the test & I wasn’t told anything about quarantine. I am fully vaccinated & wore my mask & sanitized at all times cos I don’t want a positive covid test result. It didn’t really snow much at the time I arrived, however it is cold here. |

iskilayodele: Na wa for Canada o! Sponsorship in UK and the rest of Europe is an average of 3 months. I wonder why Canada is this wicked! In contrast, Express entry is 6 months while sponsorship is 12months, is Express entry far more important than spouse sponsorship!? Yet they will be saying they need immigrants but are making processing time a long frustrating one- what an irony
I must say, Nigeria's Bureaucracy is 100% efficient than that of Canada It is well |

No travel history for both of us Infiosa: Please don't get it twisted. You can only reapply if you fall into below categories stated in the URL ,otherwise your application stays in the queue and you don't have to do anything. https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/coronavirus-covid19/visitors/visa.html Ah please you pple should apply together ohhhh |

holyjacket: How many people who applied in September and October are still waiting? Is there really a difference in the turn around time between gckey and new portal. My wife applied for visitor visa in October to join me in Canada. The gckey was used then. Now, I am thinking if i should reapply using the new portal or wait. Any thought/ advice?? The new one is faster I guess All the best |

OloriOfMontreal: Yes ma'am. How are you? How's the preparation for your spousal application coming up?
I'll recommend you put in the spousal sponsorship application before you submit a new visit visa request. (This is based on my recent understanding of the 2 streams - Outland vs Inland) This will likely help in convincing the visa officer that you don't intend to stay back in Canada to work, until your spousal PR is approved. Especially since one can't get a work permit with the Outland stream. However feel free to go with whichever option works best for you.
Cheers I did you what you have suggested waiting till Jan or Feb to apply for visitors again Thanks Jarre |
