A baby boy born with six legs has had a successful operation to remove his four extra limbs, doctors said today.

The youngster from Karachi in Pakistan was believed to have had a parasitic twin, which had not developed properly in the womb, resulting in the extra legs.
A team of five doctors had fought to save the boy's life at the National Institute of Child Health in Karachi.

The head of the NICH, Jamal Raza, said the abnormal birth was the result of a genetic disease which would affect only one in a million or more babies.

I t was strange that apparently an abnormal baby with six legs was as normal as other children,' he said.

Before surgeons could operate they said they had to work out which of the limbs belonged to the boy and which to his twin.

Two lovers banned from seeing each other by their parents brought traffic to a standstill when they stripped off and threatened to leap from a bridge. The couple kept police and rescuers at bay for more than two hours as they stayed locked in a passionate clinch on a flyover 30ft above a motorway in China.

"Our parents say we can't be together but we want to show people we have nothing to hide," they told a bemused crowd in Guangzhou, Guangdong province. "We won't come down until everyone has seen how much we mean to each other and that our parents will never be able to pull us apart," they added.

A 34-year old man, Kehinde Paul Layode, has been arraigned before a family court in Ikeja for allegedly defiling a three-year old girl (name withheld).

The incident, which happened at 3/5, John Crescent, Igando, Lagos, Southwest Nigeria, was reported at the Igando Police Station.

The accused, if found guilty, risks spending a minimum of five years in jail under the Criminal Laws of Lagos State.

According to the girl’s mother (name withheld) who spoke with P.M.NEWS correspondents, Kehinde was one of her neighbours and she left her daughter in his custody to get drugs for the girl when the man allegedly took advantage of her.


“I was going to make my hair in the salon when I discovered that my daughter’s temperature was high and I told Kehinde’s wife to help me take care of her. But she asked me to leave her with her husband since she also wanted to make her hair and that we should go to the salon together.”
“It wasn’t up to ten minutes after I went to get the drugs for her that I returned to the house and asked Kenny (Kehinde) to open the door but he didn’t. Instead, he told me that the girl was sleeping, that I shouldn’t bother myself about her. Then I asked him to at least open the door for me to see my girl and he said that he was in the bathroom.”

The girl’s mother said she was shocked when the door was eventually opened and she discovered that the girl had been defiled.

“I insisted that he opened the door. At this point, my daughter was lying down on the bed but was not sleeping. I asked him why he told a lie but he did not respond. I only observed that my girl was looking rather disturbed.

“When I opened her pant out of suspicion to check her, I saw sperm in between her thighs. I got really mad at him and asked him what happened but he went really wild and told me that he did not do anything. ‘How could I have molestd her?’ he asked me and when neighbors came around, they were also as surprised as I was,” she narrated.

The doctor’s report confirmed that the girl was defiled following the tests carried out on her.

It was also alleged that the accused had pleaded with the family to settle out of court but the girl’s family insisted that they wanted justice to prevail.
When the matter was initially taken to the magistrate’s court, he pleaded not guilty and was granted bail in the sum of N250, 000 with a surety and the matter was adjourned till Friday, 22 February, 2013.

However, the matter was tranferred to the family court. The court did not sit on 22 February and the matter was adjourned till 8 April, 2013.

The 105 phone - a £13 standard mobile phone that is now the cheapest in the company's range - marks the end of an era as the 105's colour screen means that Nokia have made their last phone with a black-and-white display.

It was hailed as 'the ultimate festival phone' by press at the launch in Barcelona.
'The phone was created to offer the essentials – phone calls and SMS – but also some desirable extras,' said Nokia.
'Nokia’s experience in optimising phone quality, combined with its global footprint and economies of scale, is a major contributor to being able to work to such a low price,' the firm said.
The launch came amid a slew of low cost mobiles from the Finnish firm, including a £120 smartphone.
The Finnish company announced the Lumia 520 alongside three other devices, including a £13 mobile phone, at Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, Spain.

The smartphone, which operates with Windows 8, could be perfect for colder countries with its super-sensitive touch-screen technology, meaning it can be used while wearing gloves, the firm said.
But with experts predicting a big year for cheap smartphones as developers try to make inroads into the developing world, the Lumia 520 could be seen in India or Africa more than Scandinavia.

33 year old Judy Viger hired two strippers (seen above with her son) to perform at her son's birthday, where there were plenty under age children. The mother of one of the party goers who found it inappropriate reported Judy to the police who arrested and charged her with five counts of endangering the welfare of a child. Upon arrival at the reception, it was a surprise galore for the father and son as well as his wife. Not only has Jumoke dated and slept with Pekun's dad in her undergraduate years in the states, but she had also had a series of abortion for Pekun's elder brother.
Olanipekun and his wife are both born again and she has confessed of her wayward life to her husband before he got married to her, however it would be a great one to take in should he find out the truth.

Jumoke is now torn between a barrage of options: whether to point to her father-in-law as the culprit she has told Pekun about and also her brother-in-law and expect the worse reaction from her husband or to keep mute and save everyone the embarrassment. A 44-year-old Michigan woman went to her local hospital for abdomen pains. Fifteen hours later, Linda Ackley was a first time mom.

Turns out the suspected "hernia" was a baby girl ready to make her big debut. MLive.com has the full story. Ackley was completely clueless about her pregnancy until she and her husband, Mike, went to the hospital.
The couple had long believed they could not get pregnant. Linda hadn't experienced significant weight gain and her menstrual periods had "always been irregular" according to MLive

When Linda arrived at the hospital complaining of bloating of her abdomen, doctors thought it may be a hernia and ordered a scan. It was then that medical staff discovered a full-term baby in the womb.
An emergency C-section was ordered and Kimberley Kay Ackley was born. "I was happy and shocked at the same time, and scared," Mike Ackley told MLive.com. He said he wished somebody had taken a picture
of his face when he heard that Linda was going to have a baby.

Linda said it was a good thing he was sitting down. "Some people have nine months to prepare. I had [15] hours," the new father said. He and Linda, who met in high school, have been married for 24 years.
In 2011, Linda contracted necrotizing fasciitis, a serious type of bacterial infection. Mike Ackley told MLive that doctors didn't think his wife would live. While the Ackley's story is spectacular, it isn't terribly uncommon.

TLC has a reality show, "I Didn't Know I Was Pregnant," dedicated to such events. Perhaps the Ackleys will make an appearance in the coming season.
