I am sure that Ibeme that won’t let us rest about how he walks the stretch of Sahara won’t survive 15 minutes of intense football. The focus is not on intense football. You that can't walk 3km without gasping wants to play intense football. You failed the intense football, and your answer is to now say the whole exercise thing is bad. It is like someone that has not mastered multiplication going to sit for calculus exam, failing it, and now concluding that education is a scam. LOL Nobody is asking you to play intense football. The issue is walking 10km. Whole different ball game. |

Roland17: While 2 truths can mutually exist, which one takes precedence? The former or the latter? There has to be one Doc! Think about the amounts of money we are talking here Doc.. The one that is more within our control is the corruption and that should obviously take precedence. If we address corruption and apply a zero-tolerance policy, we will see some improvement but that is still within the immediate context of relative scarcity of funds compared to many other countries. My state here has twice the GDP of Nigeria and less than the population of Oyo State. The narrative that we are a wealthy nation hamstrung by just corruption is a false and misleading one. |

Omo people get entitlement mentality o. It's not even like na him sponsor the guy go the trials, so we can't say that one owes him.
I just don't want to believe the story is true sha. There is entitlement but if this story is true, there is something extra. Deep seated envy. They both went for trials. He dribbled the entire defence and was not picked while his friend that scored a tap in was picked. That is the narrative that he has planted and germinated in his own mind. There is nothing that guy can do for him that will satisfy him, apart from flopping in Europe. |

Ibime: You can't take oral histories seriously, especially when it's been a millennium before they put it into writing. That's like Romulus or Oduduwa story in Rome and Yorubaland.
You mention the bible says they went to the Philistines to buy iron, that means they know the difference between iron and bronze, so why attributing iron to the Canaanites? Secondly the Philistines came into the area a good 200 years after the so called Egypt migration which was the period they were supposedly fighting with the Canaanites with iron weapons. In addition, they even wrote that Abraham went to the land of the Philistine King who wanted to fvck Sarah and he had to disguise that Sarah is his sister. How does Abraham in 4000 BC be going to Philistine King when Philistines only migrated there around 1,200 BC? The oral histories are as false as my own Ijaw origin story.
They are Canaanites bruv. Surviving Canaanites from bronze age collapse dispersed from their Cities into the countryside and some of them over 500 years evolved into the Hebrews complete with language and Gods. They even remembered Baal the Canaanite storm God and the Northern Kingdom of Israel (ten tribes) worshipped him. That's because Baal is one of their Canaanite Gods along with Yahweh and El. Monotheism developed later and focused on only Yahweh, but 500 years later, after the so called Canaanites have disappeared, they still remember Baal to write about him and blame him for the sacking of the Northern Kingdom by the Assyrians, while combining Yahweh and El into a single deity. Mostly in order. 2 corrections i would make: 1) Any historical Abraham as the great-grandfather of Joseph would be closer to 2000 BCE than 4000 BCE. 2) Most of the Hebrew Bible was written during the Babylonian and Persian periods rather than during the Maccabean period. |

But looking at our entertainment industry, I would say he has a ready-made market waiting for his business venture to tap into. If he doesn't run into problem with government and doesn't suffer major sabotage from those he employs there, I think this investment will really pay off for him in the future. Yes, the market is there and it has potential. Na that wickedness part i dey consider. He needs goodwill from the government, from his industry colleagues/rivals, and from his own employees. It is an idea that could improve the quality and efficiency movie production in the country. Hopefully it is in a location where expansion is possible if things work out. |

izzou: I understand you!
But I didn't think anything we said yesterday was insulting, in my opinion oh.
We all came from different tribes, and we all know they have their flaws. I personally do not think anybody's tribe is better than mine. And I also don't think my tribe is better than anybody's own.
If I have to avoid or get angry when someone discusses the flaws of my tribe, then I might just relocate to my village.
It's a conversation, howbeit bitter. People will have it, whether you're there or not. E no reach to dey vex. In a perfect world your way is totally fine but in the world we live in, where everybody has different values and beliefs and in which these beliefs and values have varying importance depending on the person, it is better to leave well alone. Whenever any online discourse starts veering deep into critiquing religion or ethnicity i try to remind myself to back off. Offline i don't even have to remind myself. You would never find me engaging in such debates. Where i work we have Israeli Jews, Eastern European Jews, Lebanese Christians, Lebanese Muslims, Iranians, Egyptians, Indians, Americans. I don't think i have ever heard any religious or cultural debate. Your well meaning critique might elicit the wrong reaction. |

izzou: Chief...
Your comment, howbeit understandable, has a lot of emotions which shouldn't be so.
Firstly, I'll say that it's all cruise and banter. Anybody's online opinion about any tribe doesn't change or make it less of what they are.
Secondly, the Genesis of any Igbo vs Yoruba discussion always comes from Spy and Raums banter. They are both a menace to themselves, and others just pick one thing to bant on. We will not also ignore that Spy sef has been giving Raum hot hot too.
My point is that, in my opinion, e never reach to dey this emotional. We all have been here since 2023, and at least, here has been the least toxic space I can find on NL.
No take am to heart, Chief The comment is even factually untrue. BlueRayDick who was probably the one pressing the issue most is one of the most active Obidients on this thread. This started with Elder calling Yorubas liberal, probably in order to defend them against the subtle and not so subtle accusations of tribalism/bigotry only for someone else to insert Igbos into the equation in his response BEFORE BlueRayDick (an Obidient) started putting knee to neck. |

A tribe having presence in every locality does not mean that the tribe is liberal. It only means that the other tribes are liberal enough to accept you in their midst.
It is not the one who goes visiting that is liberal but the one who accepts all visitors with open arms. |

Someone who grow up around lack is more likely to be greedy than those who grew up with more They have the excess money to be able to withstand corruption and embezzlement. We don't. That is exactly why we have to be even stricter on corruption. |

Let us eradicate or at least reduce the corruption first and then we can accurately calculate and assess how far our limited resources will go.
If you are a poor man who is being paid peanuts and you then waste your limited funds on olo.sho and excessive drinking instead of taking care of your family, the easiest step in improving your quality of life of your family members is to stop/limit the olo.sho and drinking. |

raumdeuter: Your solution will be ideal but Nigerians put more on corruption vs the scarcity of resources
A child who is poor will be prone to vices than one who has enough, You can blame a poor girl for being greedy to resort to Oloshoism but if you dont address the root cause which is usually poverty the scourge wont go
While there might be exceptions, but the main drivers to vice across any group of any race of people is economics, The poorest neighborhoods are usually the most crime ridden, its not like na dem greedy pass This one no enter. Naija politicians are corrupt not because of poverty but because they are greedy and because there is no punishment for their actions. All the ministers, governors, perm secs with numerous holdings in Dubai and London are not doing it because they are starving. |
