There would definitely be an induction where all relevant questions will be answered. Congrats once again. darneals: |
You bring original documents for screening. The only photocopies will be the email invite letter, portal slip and personal statement or Research proposal as applicable. BRAINNY: |
On point. The scoring system is updated annually based on panel recommendation. For instance, awards was a big deal prior to 2020, but got scrapped in favour of membership. A panelist also confirmed the change in the grading system from last year template to me earlier this week. However, what majority of applicants keep forgetting altogether is that the panelist are only there to assess just like a company would contract a third party company to screen potential job applicants. PTDF will do the final selection of who gets the scholarship and other factors such as gender, research area etc will come into play. For example, PTDF will limit the number of people going for Oil and Gas law in the UK just as much as they would like to have a balance in the ratio of males to females in each study region. Granted. I am not saying panel recommendation doesn't count nor saying the grading is irrelevant, but one should keep in mine that they are other inter related factors that could truncate your chances despite getting a high score from your region. Its never been a more appropriate time to have your first name as Goodluck. FatimaMK: |
You guys should take it easy with our local champions. F.G has withheld salaries since march. mrphysics: |
I beg to differ. While it is true there is always an element of luck in the process. I would argue another fundamental deciding factor is the field/area of study. Empirically, PTDF prioritise STEM (science, technology, engineering, and medicine/mathematics) as opposed to the NON-STEM (Humanities, Arts, Literature and Management). Ideally, you should have reservation if your applying for Non-Stem field irrespective of the number of publications or professional membership you possess. kolladey: |
The release of interview results will largely depend on the pandemic outlook in the Scholarship destinations chosen by PTDF. Expect another one year of hiatus if things continue to go south in those countries. vantage7: |
Imagine how annoying it wud be if u spend money on air ticket to Nigeria for the interview, only to learn upon arrival it could be done virtually from abroad. yakbauer: |
ExpertNLer:Shouldn't come as a surprise. The panelist for the PHD are much more prepared and experienced (mostly academic professors) this time. I think PTDF learned a lot from previous years as you could tell right from the new upgraded portal system. However, at the base level, its still going to be a highly subjective experience (determined mostly by your proposal), a handful of luck and some drops of blessing along the way. You may think you were the best at one centre only to be truncated by other candidates in other centres from your state. But hey, there has never been shortage of miracles in Nigeria! I digress.... |
ExpertNLer:Its more about relevance than convenience. For instance, someone undertaking studies in renewables fits the broad field of environment, someone for fluid dynamics or process control fits Engineering field, someone for network security fits the computer science field and someone for law fits the management field. |
Ishioma97:I hope you haven't submitted your paper to any of the journals hosted by ISROSET. I will spare you the details, but it meets several criteria to qualify as a predatory publisher. Its something you will come to identify with experience in research and publication. If you are a novice researcher, my advice to you is to only submit to journals hosted by known physical existing universities be it national or international. As you become more experienced, you can go for top ranking journals in your fields whom are typically very critical in their peer review (6-24months) before accepting publications. |
tyakson99:It took approximately 20 minutes along with Q & A. No employment letter. |
