No fewer than 42 people were on Friday drowned in a boat mishap on River Niger close to Malilli Village in Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that 100 others on board were missing in the mishap which occurred at about 2 p.m.

The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics, ASUP, has resolved to resume its suspended nationwide strike from next week, following failure of the federal government to fulfil its agreement with the union.

The National Publicity Secretary of the union, Chirman Clement, in a statement on Saturday said the union took the decision at her 75th National Executive Council (NEC) meeting held at the Federal Polytechnic Bida, Niger State and resolved to resume the suspended strike on October 4.

FG To Create Routes And Grazing Grounds For Fullani Herdsmen

The minister of Interior Affairs, Abba Moro has revealled the Federal Government create grazing groundsand routes for the herdsmen as a means to end herdsmen/fermers clashes in Nigeria.
Many innocent people have been killed in such raids in Bauchi, Plateau,Kaduna Plateau, Adamawa, Taraba, Kogi, Nassarawa Benue, in the North and evenEnugu and Delta states in the south.
According to him, “the crises between the Fulani and farmers haverisen to a worrisome level. It is a sad development in this country. It is an unfortunate development. Only on Tuesday I had cause to go to Benue State, Agatu Local Government Area to be precise, on account of attacks by Fulani herdsmen who attacked five local communities andit was a very sorry experience, given the number of farmers that were killed.
“What government is trying to do in that regard is to create separate routes and paths for the Fulani, as well as, grazing grounds so that once they are properly defined and they confine themselves to these routes and grazing grounds that will minimize the clashes between the Fulani and farmers”.
