I'm crazy about ogene music and all traditional Igbo music so I decided to introduce my Russian girlfriend to our beautiful egedege music remixed by Flavour, Phyno, Larry Gaga and the legendary Queen Theresa Onuorah. So here is a short clip of me and my girlfriend dancing to egedege, hope it will bring a smile to your face this Christmas ![]() https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iFnZlG1lFzs |

Hello guys this is Mr. Tochi live and direct from Putin's land. The Nigerian community in Saint Petersburg led by Dr. Suberu and Prince Lawrence organised a cultural ceremony and party to celebrate Nigeria's independence day in Russia. The ceremony featured stage play and presentation about the history of Nigeria and some important facts and moments in Nigerian history. A Nigerian high life band based in Saint Petersburg also entertained the excited crowd. One of the major highlights of the evening was a captivating traditional folk dance by Russian kids during the event. Below is a video of the amazing Russian kids dancing traditional folk music during the independence day ceremony https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hJDOq_ndPTc |

Hello guys, this is Tochi once again. You guys know how much I love promoting the image of Nigeria and culture here in Russia. So today I decided to teach some of my Russian friends Yoruba and Igbo language. Some friends from my university recently indicated interest in learning more about Nigeria and our culture so I decided to use the opportunity to introduce them to two of our languages. Watch the video below to see their level so far. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vN_p32jCWGw |
Odogwu2023:The scholarship process is automatic so you don't need to do anything special...after the entrance exam you'll see your total points and you'll be awarded a scholarship automatically based on your final total points. |
Scholarship opportunities available to African students. There are different kinds of scholarships and tuition waivers available for all students applying to study at HSE. The first one is called the HSE Gold scholarship. This scholarship is automatically awarded to the best performing students during the bachelors entrance exams and Masters portfolio exams. It’s a scholarship from the Russian government which will enable you to study on the quota system and pay zero tuition for the entire duration of your program. The HSE gold scholarship is very competitive and is awarded on merit to high performing deserving candidates. The scholarship also comes with a monthly stipend of 1,500 rubles and also makes it possible to apply for your study visa through a simplified manner. Nigerians are eligible for this scholarship. The other tuition waivers are in the form of discounts of 25% 50% and 75% respectively depending on the total points you score in your 2 entrance exams. The maximum points for entrance exams are 100 points for each subject and each student can choose a combination of two subjects from English, Maths, Physics, Social studies, History, Russian language. For two subjects, the maximum you can score is 200 total points and if you score 140-149 points you will qualify for – 25% tuition waiver. 150-169 points – 50% tuition waiver. Above 170 points – 70% tuition waiver and possibly selected for HSE gold full tuition discount. So that’s it about scholarships… please feel free to ask questions if you’re confused about anything. Next time I will write about the next steps to take after you’ve been offered admission (documents to prepare and how to apply for visa) |
kakatrigga:The science courses are usually taught in Russian language so you need to learn and be fluent in Russian language first before you can study those courses. It's possible to study Russian language, after the Russian language preparatory year, most students are usually fluent enough to study in Russian taught full degree programs. The Russian language preparatory course costs 195,000 roubles ($2,500). Visit this link to learn about the Russian language course. https://preparatory.hse.ru/en/basic |
kakatrigga:Sorry for the late reply... I somehow missed this question. Bachelors degree at HSE takes 4 years to complete and the tuition fee varies by program. Programs taught entirely in English usually costs more than those taught in Russian language. Accommodation in the student dormitory costs around $20 monthly. For Tuition fee with discounts or scholarships you should budget around (1,500,000 rubles ($20,000) for 4 years. It's possible to get tuition discounts up to 75% from HSE or 100% scholarship from Russian state government if you're among the top scorers in the entrance exam. |
Please feel free to ask me any questions you might have so far. Tomorrow I will write about the various scholarship opportunities available and the next steps to taken after you've been offered admission to study at HSE. |
kakatrigga:I encourage you to please ask me questions on this thread so I can answer openly and if someone in future has similar questions, they can use yours as reference. |
HSE officially known as National Research University Higher School of Economics. Is one of the leading and most prestigious universities in Russia. As of 2020, HSE ranks third in Russia in QS world university rankings and also highly ranked in timeshighereducation rankings. HSE University is a leader in Russian education and one of the preeminent economics and social sciences universities in eastern Europe and Eurasia and consistently ranked as one Russia’s top universities. There are currently over 45,000 students enrolled at the four campuses of HSE from over 55 countries in the world. HSE has 4 campuses in Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Nizhny Novgorod and Perm. This thread will specifically focus on admission into HSE Saint Petersburg campus. I currently study at HSE Saint Petersburg campus and my aim with this thread is to help guide prospective Nigerian students through HSE’s admission process. I will monitor this thread for questions and will be happy to answer any questions regarding the admission process of HSE. One of the most frequently asked questions by foreigners who intend to study in Russia is about the language barrier. The good news is that HSE Saint Petersburg offers a few courses entirely taught in english in both Bachelors and Masters level. What this means is that, it’s possible to study at HSE even with zero knowledge of Russian language. At the moment, HSE offers 3 bachelors courses taught entirely in English. International Business & Management. Political Science & World politics and Sociology & Social informatics. For Masters level HSE SPB offers the following programs entirely in English language. Masters in Finance, Data analytics, Masters in International business and many others. This is the link to check out all the masters courses taught in English https://spb.hse.ru/admissions/graduate-apply/ For a comprehensive list of all the programs available at HSE Saint Petersburg campus please visit https://spb.hse.ru/en/education/ Admission Requirements for Bachelors programmes For Nigerian students, the first step towards admission is to first pass your WAEC exams. Once you’ve passed your waec, then you need to choose the program you want to study then proceed to create your applicant personal account through this link https://asav.hse.ru/foreignstud.html#signin the admission process is transparent so once you create your personal account you can submit all necessary document and required information through the link. All international bachelors applicants have to pass two entrance exams to become eligible for enrollment. To check the particular exam combination you have to pass please visit this link https://spb.hse.ru/admissions/undergraduate-apply/baexams The entrance exam is really important because if you’re one of the best scoring students, you can potentially receive a scholarship with stipends from the Russian state government. The link above contains exam samples from previous years so you can familiarize yourself with how the exam looks like. Application for 2021/2022 academic year is still open so if you’re interested you can start your application process right now and I will be happy to guide you through it. For Masters programs There are no entrance exams, all you need to do is to create your personal applicant account through this link https://spb.hse.ru/admissions/undergraduate-apply/baexams Then submit your portfolio (your portfolio should include your cv, motivation letter, recommendation letter, your diploma and transcripts from bachelors, any academic or professional achievements, language proficiency) language certificate is not needed but it will be a bonus for you. After submitting your portfolio, you will have an interview with the admission committee and afterwards they will review your entire package and either offer you an admission or reject your application. |
I will update this place with comprehensive admission process and how to get scholarships. Please feel free to ask any question here |

Hello guys, this is Tochiphotos. You guys know how much I love promoting the image of Nigeria and our culture here in Russia. So today we cooked Okro soup and asked Russians to eat and tell me what they think about this our delicious. Even tho Glory used a small amount of pepper, they all still complained that it was too spicy. They all loved it tho and said it would be perfect without pepper or just a small quantity. Watch the video below to see their reaction and see what Russians think about okro soup and eba. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8QxdZOLhamg
