PoliticsCan Tinubu End Insecurity In 3 Years? by afunmmy(op): 10:41am On May 31
No, Tinubu cannot realistically end insecurity in Nigeria within three years. Insecurity in Nigeria is deeply rooted in decades of structural, economic, and social problems, and while reforms may reduce its intensity, experts and opposition figures agree that the crisis is too complex to be solved in such a short timeframe.

Why Ending Insecurity in 3 Years Is Unrealistic

1. Historical Depth of Insecurity
Nigeria’s insecurity dates back to the 1967–1970 Civil War, followed by decades of coups, militancy, and terrorism.

Boko Haram, ISWAP, Niger Delta militancy, banditry, and kidnapping are entrenched problems that evolved over decades.

2. Complex Drivers
Poverty and unemployment fuel recruitment into criminal groups.

Weak institutions and corruption undermine policing and justice.

Climate change and resource competition worsen farmer–herder clashes.

Porous borders allow arms trafficking and foreign extremist influence.

3. Tinubu’s Current Record (2023–2026)
Tinubu’s government claims reforms have blocked subsidy and forex rackets, saving trillions of naira.

However, opposition figures like Atiku argue insecurity has worsened, with school abductions and banditry still rampant.

Surveys show only 30% approval rating, with Nigerians citing hardship and insecurity as major failures.

What Tinubu Can Achieve in 3 Years
1. Institutional reforms: Strengthen police, military, and judiciary.
2. Economic stabilization: Reduce poverty through job creation and infrastructure investment.
3. Regional cooperation: Work with neighbors to secure borders.
4. Technology adoption: Use surveillance, drones, and intelligence systems to track criminal groups.

Tinubu can lay foundations for long-term security reforms, but ending insecurity in three years is unrealistic. Nigeria’s insecurity is systemic, requiring sustained effort across multiple administrations. The best outcome within three years is reduction, not elimination, of insecurity.

Haaaa....is it the money aspect or generally?
Academics in Nigeria is not worth it. After PhD we still earn less than an entry level bank officer. You publish or you perish. It's a low life job.

FamilyRe: My Wife's Family Calling My Son Another Name by afunmmy: 8:36pm On May 13, 2023
joeargy:
Hi everyone, I will appreciate ur advice...

My son is 2yrs old , when he was born I and my wife named him Charles but my wife's mother and father can't stop calling him Daniel, when ever my son is at their place for holidays or visits, they call him Daniel and all their neighbors and friends now call my son Daniel.

I remembered I told my wife about it and her mother heard and felt bad, he is my son and not theirs, I understand grandparents give their grand children names too, I have a name from my grandparents but they call me by the one my parents gave me...

What do I do house?
You don't have a problem but you might end up creating one for your self.

I have a son of 10 year my inlaws calls him their preferred name, my mom calls him by the name she gave to him, my dad calls him my grandpa's name, I call him by the name I gave to him and his mom calls him by my first name instead of calling him junior.
Now the biggest of all is that they call him Bishop in the church and in his school they call him Professor because he uses glasses. So you can see there is really no problem.

All you need do is to make sure that the name in his birth certificate, NIM, passport and all other official documents is the name you want him to be addressed with.

Make I shock you! The boy can be come 18 today and change his name to what pleases him. I have a colleague like that.

Pls avoid family problems as much as you can.

Thank you
PoliticsRe: My First 100 Days As Governor of Lagos - GRV by afunmmy: 12:22pm On Mar 11, 2023
Mediahq:
My First 100 Days
As Governor of Lagos

I have a vision for a new Lagos
Here is my action plan for the first 100 Days in office.

1.0
Increase Minimum Wage to N60,000 on Day 1 in Office, the salary of Civil Servants will be increased by 100% to N60,000 monthly. The target is to reach N100,000 as soon as possible. This will cover everybody including street sweepers.

2.0
Moral suasion to persuade the Organised Private Sector to follow Govt's lead by stopping casualisation and also increase their minimum wage to a living wage. Banks, telcos, oil companies, multinationals, large national corporates, etc will be incentivised with PAYE tax credits to stop casualisation and index their minimum wage to their capacity to pay rather than current market wage rates which are suppressed by high unemployment. A first step for a Lagos where every worker has health care, pensions and similar benefits.

3.0
Cancel Alpha Beta's Contract which costs the State N5bn monthly.

4.0
Use the savings from the cancellation of Alpha Beta contract to set up a grand Loan Scheme for Micro, Small and Medium Scale Enterprises. Ensure at least 10,000 beneficiaries in the first 100 Days. We expect the scheme to benefit up to 1m beneficiaries in 4 years.

5.0
Establish a portal for publishing costs of all government projects and compare them to World Bank standards to eliminate waste and corruption.

6.0
Issue a 10-year order for 10,000 vehicles to an auto manufacturer that commits to building an auto assembly in Lagos with a credible plan to achieve 50% value added within 5 years.

7.0
Pull down all toll gates in the Lekki Ajah axis and Ikoyi link bridge.

8.0
Build a monument in memory of our slain sons and daughters at the old Lekki Toll Gate.

9.0
Advertise for the employment of 10,000 teachers with outstanding grades (First Class and Second Upper or Upper Credit) to start a process of repositioning teaching as a middle-class career.

10.0
Execute a Memorandum of Understanding with all Road Transport Unions for the implementation of a rehabilitation and retraining program, and take Agberos off our roads.

11.0
Invite bids for the design and construction of 100 km of rail across Lagos.

12.0
Host an education summit with all stakeholders to get buy-in into GRV's plan for partnerships to upscale public schools to the standards of the best private school.

13.0
Host a health summit with all stakeholders to get buy-in for partnerships to upscale services at Primary Health Centres to best-in-class, laying the foundation for an effective referral system.

14.0
A summit for various artisan associations such as bricklayers, plumbers, mechanics, welders, carpenters, tailors and other technicians with the objective of creating a process for their certification and access to small-scale loans.

15.0
Working with my Party, the Labour Party, appoint first-class caretaker Chairmen for each Local Govt,
each appointee being skilled enough to be a potential Governor.

16.0
Set a date for Local Government elections.

17.0
Issue Guidelines to open up the BRT routes to all investors who meet the minimum standards. Create a program for widespread investment in public transport by all willing Lagosians and investors.

18.0
Issue Guidelines for markets to operate autonomously and appoint their own Iyalojas and Babalojas.

19.0
Release Guidelines for a new waste management system for separating waste to paper, plastic and organic from homes; a first step towards a world class system for turning waste into biogas and fertilizer.

20.0
Emergency rehabilitation of buildings and facilities in 100 primary and secondary schools pending comprehensive reconstruction.

21.0
Enumeration of all apartments that have been vacant for more than 180 days, and commencement of a program to ensure occupancy by 31st Dec. At least 100 such apartments are to be occupied in the first 100 days.

22.0
The commencement of the rehabilitation of 100 inner roads spread across all Local Governments in Lagos.

I am determined to set Lagos on course to become First World in 30 years.
Hold me accountable after the first 100 Days.

Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour
Labour Party Candidate for Governor of Lagos State

If you’re coming to Guangzhou china for the first time as an African, you don’t need to be scared, even if you don’t know anybody, immediately you comeout from the airport, there are taxis outside, I would have said take the metro but it is very complicated for a first timer, so board any of the Taxis And tell them to take you to Guangyuan West road m, in Chinese Guangyuan XI (shi) Lu,
Or Either Xiaobei Lu and Lujing Lu, these places and hotspots where you will find fellow blacks at any time of the day, they are black concentrated areas with black owned businesses, African restaurants, and relatively cheap Hotels. Going from those places to anywhere in Guangzhou is relatively very easy. Tips when getting a taxi at the Airport don’t bargain prices with them just point to their meter and ask them to Use it, going from the airport to any of those places should not cost more than 120rmb toll fees inclusive m, but if you bargain with them they’ll charge u upto 500Rmb cos according to them cheating a foreigner is legal as long as you don’t kill them... I wanted to post pictures to aid a good description of these places but the sizes are to large, I’ll still find a way to resize them though

EducationRe: My 3-Year-Old Son Can't Read Or Write Letters, Please Help by afunmmy: 2:06pm On Oct 23, 2020
kenny1111:
Good afternoon everyone,

please I need advice from all parents and Educators and parents on Nairanland. today I just realized my 3years old son cant even read Letters A to F talk less of A to Z but can read Figure 1 to 10, I am seriously worried.

I don't stay at home except for weekends as I am working outside my state, but due to the curfew I find my way back home yesterday so I was able to discover this problem in the early hours of today.

I know the mother is trying cos I have seen different live videos where she was teaching him and working on his assignment, most times I pity the boy so much because of the beating from his mum alone makes me sick but I can't really complain since I know is for his own good and I know how stressful it is for a mother with 2 kids to manage her time and all that....

I called his teacher immediately and she told me my son will be going to Nursery class when the present term is over due to his age, sadly she didn't say things I expect to hear from her so I told her I will visit the school once the curfew is over, I need explanation, is private school that bad these days ? my son can't even write 2 and 3

I have bought Video CD, bought many play book materials containing letters and figures displayed boldly, I bought counting and so on when he was 2 years so i expect a better result by now.

pls sir and ma, I need help on how to guide this boy to learn better, what should I do and how should I go about it.

Note: any time I am home, I always go through his books, assignments and read his school rhymes for him.

pls Help
