Your comment stinks of superb unintelligence and a worrisome lack of analytical ability.

A. Five people occupy two-bedroom apartment
B. One person occupies a two-bedroom apartment

Which of the above will need more frequent maintenance??

Which of the above will depreciate faster??

Which of them will have more frequent cases of facilities breakdown??

Since the day you chickened out of a debate, I knew rational and logical thought was never your strong-point so I'm not surprised...
Well said. It's like common sense is really not common to a lot of people..

Afam4eva: I've told you people to stop bringing in population as long as Lagos or any state does not feed it's population. If anything, it's to the advantage of the state with a higher populaton cos that will mean more money via taxation. We're looking at the number and quality of projects executed and only a blind man will not give it to Akpabio but if we were to rank them based on people oriented projects then it may not even go to either of them. An obscure governor may win it ahead of them.
Common sense should tell you that with more population, you have to build and spend more money on schools, you have to spend more money basically on hospitals and clinics, you have to spend more money on all infrastructure and also, you get frequent wear and tear which means you have to again spend more money.to keep up with population pressure on your infrastructure and services..

This is basic laws of supply and demand, this is economics 101 and public administration 101.

You are not making sens as usual. Please don't derail the thread with ignorance and layman talk.

The fact that you are sickly tribal doesn't mean you shouldn't use your brain or must think like a 2 year old.

Afam4eva: As far as Infrastructural development is concerned based on the revenue that accrues to the states, i will rate Akwa-Ibom ahead of Lagos state. Though Lagos has equally done well when compared to previous governments.
You are wrong.

Akwa Ibom has more money for just 5 million people and they post the largest state budgets in Nigeria.

How do you even make such ignorant statement without population factor and exactly what each state spends..?

Leave this alone and keep an eye on the derailers, I've sent so many messages

Lagos state IGR is N20B x 12B = N240B + N120B =360B

Allocation and IGR = 360. They borrow to make up the difference at N497 billion/20 million population

Akwa Ibom with allocation or IGR or no IGR, their budet for N559 including N80 loan/2013/5million population

For 2012 it was N379B + N125B SUPLEMENTAL = N522B/5 million population. Largest state budget in Nigeria

Lagos Sends 300 People With Kidney Problems Abroad For Treatment

Lagos — About 300 people with kidney related problems were sent abroad for treatment by the Lagos State government in the past one year. Governor Babatunde Fashola disclosed this when he received a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) yesterday.

According to Fashola, the 300 beneficiaries were referred to hospitals in England, US and India due to lack of necessary facilities for the surgery in Nigeria. The governor also reiterated the commitment of the state government to develop the Gbagada General Hospital's Intensive Care Unit for kidney transplant and dialysis. He said the project would be executed in the first quarter of 2011.

"We are already recruiting staff and consultants, who will manage the facilities at the hospital," he added.

IGR

Akwa Ibom IGR hits N20bn in 2012

Akwa Ibom State has garnered N20 billion as Internally Generated Revenue in 2012 exceeding last year’s projection by over N3 billion, a development it attributed to the introduction of automated revenue collection system.

The State government has also hired Romflex consultants to handle the registration and renewal of motor licenses to boost its revenue generation capacity.

Bassey Andy, chairman of the state internal revenue service who made this known in Uyo, the state capital said the board generated N16.4 billion last year, higher than the estimated revenue of N15 billion adding that the achievement was possible by the solid revenue base laid under his supervision.

Andy who spoke when he received the President of Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN) in his office said the development of a data system on information sector taxes was being carried out adding that when completed it would generate more revenue to the state government.

According to him, the commissioning of a tax consultant in January 2012 to process and renew vehicle licenses under the new scheme had enable the board to realize N30 million within one and a half months as against N6 million collected last year within the same period.

He said the board has also started the production of electronic tax clearance certificate to tax payers that could be accessed easily throughout the world on demand describing this as the first of its kind in the south south zone of the country.

Earlier, President of the CITN, John Jegede represented by chairman joint district society, Cyril Ade lauded the board for the impressive revenue record so far realised adding that it would contribute to the provision of basic social infrastructure by the stat government.

Meanwhile, the tax consultant said many revenue loopholes have been blocked resulting in the channeling of all revenue to government coffers.

Bassey Eyo, manager of Romflex consultants however listed many challenges including wrong passage of vehicle numbers plates from stores to motor licensing authorities without passing through his office for proper capturing into the system before issuance to motor licensing authorities.

Economy

Commerce & Industry in Akwa Ibom State

To develop Akwa Ibom’s industrial potentials and at the same time attract potential investors the government has put in place an industrialisation blueprint to enable such investors examine and leverage inward looking, import-substitution, and export-led industrialisation strategies being adopted by the state government. The rapid industrial development of the state, therefore, involves investment promotion, and public private partnership.

Government has vigorously enabled the environment for the development of industrial estates and cottage industries whether by the state or with private interests, such that each of our 31 local government areas will have at least one industrial estate to employ the citizens and process available raw materials into finished products.

As an empowerment strategy, government supports and sponsors its citizens to embark on commercial ventures. Support includes identification of market opportunities, participation in domestic and international trade fairs, provision of infrastructures, periodic material subsidies, and patronage of local entreprises.

cjrane: Fashola is a shameless noise maker. Like his average native Yoruba person. It is an insult to compare him to Akpabio that have been developing his state without any help from the Federal Government nor heavily taxing non-indigenes unfairly, only to deport them after using their tax money.

If the Federal Government of Nigeria had not built Lagos as Nigeria's capital and creating our present economic problems by the mindless spending of all our money earned in the oil boom days on Lagos infrastructure, instead of building sustainable industries around the country to help Nigeria develop in a balanced way . Lagos would have been far less developed than Ado Ekiti in spite of Fashola's noise making.

Godswill Akpabio is real Mehnnn! cool
Relax, it's all going to be direct state projects started, completed or under construction by both men since 2007, no PPP or private projects.

Universities

The only picture of skills acquisition center I found looks abandoned and disturbing and to prevent any ill feelings, I won/t post it. There's a general statement on the governor's website about skills acquisition, but that's it

There's little or nothing about Akwa state university, not even on the state's or the governor's website..
