David Hundeyin, the fearless Nigerian investigative journalist, and activist, is in the eye of a storm. Having sought asylum in Ghana to continue his crusade for transparency, he now faces relentless pressure from the Nigerian government. The government, led by President Bola Tinubu, is pushing for Hundeyin’s extradition on vague charges, widely perceived as an attempt to silence his unflinching reporting on corruption, human rights violations, and governmental mismanagement. David Hundeyin, born in Lagos, Nigeria, on May 6, 1990, developed a passion for writing and journalism from a young age. He initiated his journalistic journey by creating a blog during high school and contributing to his school newspaper. After completing his high school education, he pursued a degree in mass communications at Igbinedion University and later transferred to the University of Hull in England, graduating in 2011 with a degree in creative writing. Upon returning to Nigeria, Hundeyin embarked on his journalism career, working for esteemed publications such as BusinessDay, The Africa Report, and CNN Africa. His reputation quickly grew thanks to his fearless reporting and willingness to address sensitive and crucial issues. In 2020, due to threats of violence stemming from his coverage of the government’s response to the #EndSARS protests, Hundeyin sought refuge in Ghana and was granted asylum in 2022. https://zeitgeist.com.ng/david-hundeyin/ Despite facing threats and adversity, Hundeyin persists in his relentless pursuit of reporting on the Nigerian government and other influential figures. He remains a staunch advocate for press freedom and human rights. In his personal life, Hundeyin keeps a low profile, but he has shared his interests in travel, music, and football. David Hundeyin’s journalistic approach has been a subject of criticism among some who accuse him of bias, sensationalism, and unprofessionalism. Critics contend that his primary focus is on generating clicks and attention rather than providing objective reporting. They argue that Hundeyin tends to make accusations without concrete evidence and relies heavily on anonymous sources, which raises questions about the integrity of his work. However, Hundeyin’s supporters passionately defend his fearless journalism, emphasizing his willingness to confront powerful figures and tackle sensitive issues head-on. They assert that his critics are attempting to silence him due to fear of the truths he unveils. It’s worth noting that Hundeyin has received numerous accolades for his reporting, including the prestigious CNN African Journalist Award and the Wole Soyinka Award for Investigative Reporting. He is also a regular contributor to internationally recognized publications like The New York Times and The Guardian. Ultimately, the assessment of Hundeyin’s work remains a matter of individual judgment, but it is essential to consider diverse perspectives and critical evaluation before forming an opinion. Unmasking President Tinubu: David Hundeyin’s Bold Allegations In his relentless pursuit of truth, Hundeyin has made startling allegations against President Tinubu. His investigations have unearthed disturbing claims of corruption and wrongdoing at the highest echelons of power. Hundeyin’s revelations have sent shockwaves through Nigeria’s political landscape, leaving President Tinubu in a precarious position. https://zeitgeist.com.ng/david-hundeyin/

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s recent directives to traditional rulers in Yoruba land during a public event have ignited a flurry of discussions and debates. The controversy surrounding his actions raises questions about the motivations behind his surprising behaviour. During the commissioning of projects in Oyo State, Obasanjo ordered the Yoruba Obas to stand up and greet the governor and then abruptly commanded them to sit down. This abrupt interaction left many baffled and curious about what could have prompted such behaviour from a former president known for his statesmanship. Femi Fani-Kayode, a former Minister of Aviation, expressed his anger and disappointment at Obasanjo’s actions, emphasizing that they were disrespectful and a departure from the reverence traditionally accorded to monarchs in Yoruba culture. Fani-Kayode’s public criticism of Obasanjo further fueled the controversy, as it highlighted the stark contrast between Obasanjo’s recent behaviour and his past displays of humility before traditional rulers. https://zeitgeist.com.ng/2023/09/17/obasanjo-traditional-rulers-humiliation/ One key aspect of the controversy revolves around whether Obasanjo’s actions were influenced by his association with Peter Obi during the last presidential election. Some argue that his alignment with Peter Obi may have contributed to a change in his demeanour and approach to traditional rulers. Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has shed light on why he ordered traditional rulers in Oyo State to stand and then sit during an event. He explained that his actions were prompted by the seated monarchs’ failure to rise and greet the state governor, Seyi Makinde, which he considered a breach of protocol and a sign of disrespect for the governor and his office. Obasanjo emphasized the importance of respecting the governor as the leader of the state, as outlined in the constitution, and urged that protocols must be observed. He wanted the monarchs to understand that disrespecting authorities goes against Yoruba culture and that respect should be mutual. The debate over Obasanjo’s actions is not limited to the Yoruba community; it has garnered attention across Nigeria and beyond. Many are left wondering about the implications of this controversy on Obasanjo’s legacy and his future role in Nigerian politics. https://zeitgeist.com.ng/2023/09/17/obasanjo-traditional-rulers-humiliation/ As discussions continue to unfold, one thing is clear: Obasanjo’s surprising behaviour towards the Yoruba Obas has sparked a broader conversation about respect for tradition, political allegiances, and the evolving dynamics of Nigerian politics.

Former Nigerian House Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila has been disbarred by the State Bar of Georgia in the United States due to corruption and ethical violations, including stealing money from a client and failing to pay membership fees. Despite this disgrace in the U.S., his corruption in Nigeria has gone unpunished, including allegations of receiving bribes to undercut local communities in passing controversial laws and accusations of unbridled corruption within his party. With over 20 years in federal politics and his current role as President Tinubu’s chief of staff, Gbajabiamila may not need to work as a lawyer again, as he remains in a political landscape where powerful figures often escape consequences for their actions. Critical Fact-Checked Feature on Femi Gbajabiamila: https://zeitgeist.com.ng/2023/09/18/femi-gbajabiamila-corruption-disbarment-nigerian-politics/ Femi Gbajabiamila, a former Nigerian House Speaker who now serves as the chief of staff to President Bola Tinubu, has been disbarred in the United States for corruption and ethical lapses. This is just one of the many scandals that have dogged Gbajabiamila’s career, but he has continued to thrive in Nigerian politics, where there is little accountability for those in power. Gbajabiamila was admitted to the State Bar of Georgia in 2001. In 2003, he accepted a $25,000 settlement on behalf of a client, but failed to promptly disburse the funds. He then withdrew the funds for his own use and closed his practice. In 2007, the Supreme Court of Georgia suspended Gbajabiamila from practicing law for 36 months. He was reinstated in 2010, but was disbarred in 2020 for failing to pay his bar dues and ignoring a grievance filed against him by a client. Despite his disgrace in the U.S., Gbajabiamila has continued to hold high-level positions in Nigerian politics. He served as Speaker of the House of Representatives from 2019 to 2023, and was appointed chief of staff to President Tinubu in July 2023. Gbajabiamila has been accused of corruption on numerous occasions. In 2021, he was among top lawmakers and government ministers who received heavy bribes from private businessmen to undercut local communities in passing the controversial 2021 law regulating the Nigerian hydrocarbon industry. Recently, he has faced allegations from within his own party that he received bribes to sell key government positions. Despite these allegations, Gbajabiamila has never been held accountable for his actions. This is because there is little transparency or accountability in Nigerian politics. Those in power are often able to escape punishment for wrongdoing, while ordinary Nigerians suffer the consequences. https://zeitgeist.com.ng/2023/09/18/femi-gbajabiamila-corruption-disbarment-nigerian-politics/

I tried this earlier in the year and loved it: https://app.lendigo.ng |
Hi there, have you tried these guys: https://app.lendigo.ng/ |
Lendigo is a tech start-up that provides short-term capital loans for businesses even POS users, Jumia merchants, big store distributors and general business men. You can get 20 million naira from them. You can apply completely via their android app or website - lendigo.ng. Honestly, while they take their time during the application process - can assume to curb loan default rate. It was a pretty smooth process but then I got the loan offer and I will have to deposit a portion of the loan as a security deposit - about 5%. Then I wondered! The security deposit remains a portion of what I am paying back, technically still my money but I don’t get access to it yet. Although a small %. They seem to be the only ones doing this now. I am curious, what do you think about this security deposit issue? Justified or unnecessary? |

Should every Nollywood movie go to cinema? Rita Dominic says no and reactions have followed. Filmmaker, Don Pedro-Obaseki is one of them and he has written an open letter to Nollywood actress, Rita Dominic. Well below is a post by Don Pedro-Obaseki speaking on the issue. ”AN APPEAL TO #RITA_DOMINIC – From Don Pedro Obaseki. My dear star, sister & colleague’, Rita Nwaturocha (aka Rita Dominic & once upon a time, Rita Lamb), I’ve had the inglorious privilege of reading about your “Table Shakings” and the reactions they’ve elicited. Ma, humility is a virtue, and caution ain’t cowardice! I remember a few times around 2003-2006, when you used to “sweat” at Chico’s in Bank Olemoh, roaming from one set to the other, while recording TWO or THREE movies at the same Time! Don’t be like Chichidodo, the proverbial Ghanaian bird in Ayi kwe Armah’s novel. Chichidodo was the bird that hated shit, but feeds only on the maggots from Shit...." .. starts poem Tiwa Savage is back! Tiwa Savage is on the throne! Did Tiwa Savage ever leave? Or is Tiwa indeed a Savage? Queen Billz is back Every other female back to sucking… whatever … ends poem. While there’s not alot of love amongst the artistes and other industry stakeholders, this is not bore totally out of reason to compete, be strategic and succeed but more of HATE – Something that has come to the fore in the very little few weeks of 2016. The handful of petite misdemeanours that even makes Wizkid the most ‘matured’ act so far. How can Wizkid amongst the zillion of pop acts do the single most matured thing (even if he had to later mess it up with spilling his drink on Dammy Krane when they met in person) You didn’t get where I was headed? Olamide went on to say despicable things about Don Jazzy, Dammy Krane jumped in on that with his accusations at Wizkid then Blackface tried to get his own 2 minutes of fame from the fiasco and that’s not forgetting egbon.... http://droameh.com/index.php/2016/01/21/tiwa-savage-is-2faces-next-babymama/

‘I hate to be #2,’ – Famous words of the big man, Mr. Tajuddeen Adepetu. I have found out reasons why Waje featured Patoranking on ‘Left for Good’ and some more. Waje is a very talented person but with that talent and great music that she has made since breaking out with ‘Do Me,’ there has also been something off. I had this conversation weeks ago with a colleague (doubt he’d want to have his name mentioned here) – who happened to (still?) works on her team and he shed some light on all the things I ‘sensed.’ After a long conversation while I was buying new car tires, we bought agreed that these are the reasons why Waje while so close to superstardom – never or has not got there. Like my boss would say (paraphased): ‘Making money is good but when i am number 2 even with money, I have failed.’ Waje is always #2. So I channel my Waje and I am giving you 5 reasons – albeit wrong/failed why Patoranking was featured on ‘Left for Good,’ on her behalf (of course, expect Dro to pop once a while) Get into the list: wajexpato 1. The question is why is Waje competiting for fanbase with SeyiShay or Tiwa Savage when she is almost on a level with Omawumi. Two different focus, which explains why ‘Right now’ was a huge track on Tiwa’s hiatus – a song where Seyi Shay is relatable even with the borrowed Sade Adu lyrics and her sexiness does not feel forced – all she needed to break from the Tiwa shadow and score a critical acclaim. A Seyi Shay reminds you of Tiwa Savage (now a Chidinma reminds you of Yemi Alade) and a Waje use to remind us of Omawumi while they both remind us of some of the greatest vocalist ever – It was fair. But ‘Coco Baby’, ‘Onye’ and ‘Left for Good’ are identity crisis. Sorry that was all Dro Ameh, channeling Waje to the fore: Tiwa Savage before she left to give birth was the hottest thing on the radar, this was Waje’s chance to get a piece of her slice but Seyi Shay is making this hard then why not try a collaboration with Patoranking the way she, Shay started. Nice? Reason 2. Need to play with Corporate Nigeria cue in – losing Glo deal. Albums no dey sell. You taste big money once, it gets taken away and you see the need to re-strategize – maybe for a MTN or airtel deal, if only porting is getting major ad cash still. She needs to make them want her, I suppose. 3. Almost desperate desire for a pop anthem. culled from http://droameh.com/index.php/2015/11/09/5-wrong-reasons-why-waje-feat-patoranking-on-left-for-good/

Hello Brymo (If you ever read this), I trust you’re great? Not anywhere in Osun recording another album but in Lagos, playing the politics. I am not great right now, i’m tired! You just released another compilation – gladly it was of already released track but the release says for US market. A great initiative but not for right now! You don’t have fans here. As huge as Asa’s music is in France and every where in the world, her connection to the motherland is a key ingredient in her success. Compare that to Nneka on value and followership with Nigerian/African music lovers. Get ‘Trance’ here, if you care. Trance-BackCover-1024x802 Before we proceed, let me put it out there that I am a scorned fan. I am going to be insensitive – maybe a little bit. Since you left Chocolate city, you have done everything wrong besides making great music and that alone would not take you anywhere, absolutely anywhere. The music is important, let’s not get it wrong but you also need to get off your butt and get working. You have made the BEST ALBUMS in the last two years but this is a fact between me, you and a few others know (not believe). You are the next big export and the only Nigerian artiste that would land a Grammy Plaque (the next and concluding phase for Nigerian music exportation that 2face began) but I know this alone. Also, I am hurt. You re still talking Chocolate city and ‘Oleku,‘ now I am weak. Purge it out of your memory, move on – probably only when you are on stage. You had the biggest song OF 2012 and 2015, you are the shadow of yourself. Finance, Resource! you’d say is the challenge but – i fail to see how you can. culled from http://droameh.com/index.php/2015/11/05/brymo-you-are-artiste-of-the-year-2016-still-fck-you/ |
When Quedy tweeted he wanted to listen to Wande Coal’s new album with low expectation, it was a riot in me. I almost shot him a reply. Nobody goes into a listening session of a Wande Coal and not expect ‘too much.’ As difficult as it would be not to compare albums – albeit the charting singles, all we hold Wande Coal to is an album – Mushin to Mo’hits (before now). Through the period of six years, the recently released ‘Wanted’ album is the most anticipated Nigerian album EVER. If you understand the brilliance and where Mushin to Mo’hits sits the annals of Nigerian pop culture, you’d see this is probably the only authoritative proclamation here – for your critics. Again, What was wrong with #Wanted? Don Jazzy. No Don Jazzy. Just to be certain I was not asking too much from the Black Diamond (Just repeat what you did with M2M, for me and I would be fine), I got the Mushin to Mo’Hits album and it only made me see the let-down with the #Wanted album. Wande Coal didn’t understand the anticipation was fever high even dropping the album should scare... culled from http://droameh.com/index.php/2015/11/03/wanted-is-a-let-down-wande-coal-needs-don-jazzy/#comment-21

Nigerian producer, President and CEO of the Mohit’s Record label, Don Jazzy has spoken out on the recent wave of attacks by artist, singer and former (if correct to say) Vice President of Mo’hits, Dapo “Kokomaster Dbanj” Oyebanjo. In an exclusive telephone interview with Ascology News, Don Jazzy started off by saying he never wanted the issue to become this messy, even as he was aware of the way and manner social media has changed the way people view issue surrounding the lives of celebrities; a reason he said was why he’s always cautious of what he says and the interviews he grants to the media. Both industry power-weights have been at loggerhead over alleged multiple financial disagreements, discrepancies involved in the signing of artist Dbanj into Kanye West’s Good Music record label, Don Jazzy’s lackadaisical attitude, Dbanj’s alleged public irresponsibility among other differences and conflicts that popped up between both. “I want to be clear on something that I’m not interested in going into the debates of whatever Dbanj has said, be it through an interview, the press, social media or whatever. People should try and understand that these are very difficult moments for me and I need my space, time and moment to carry on with my life and the production of good music which is what fans have known me for a very long time”. Don Jazzy said. The iconic producer, whose famous introvert and quiet lifestyle and personality as garnered him an enviable amount of fame, respect and magnanimous swag in Nigeria’s entertainment scene, staunchly dismissed claims by Dbanj buying houses, cars and properties for the Mo’hits boss and fellow artists, calling it “laughable and not worth responding to this early morning” claiming that quick thinking fans know his individual worth and personal financial worth of each artist at Mo’hits. The Mo’hits boss was however very cautious and even more diplomatic in blaming, accusing or countering accusations attributed to Dbanj in various interviews, saying many of those things could not have been said by the Dbanj and he isn’t surprised when Dbanj claimed his accounts were hacked and also not further surprised when his (Dbanj) publicist released a statement denying some of the statements attributed to him; specifically during the interview with Ebony Magazine that Dbanj owns Mo’hits. Incidentally, Ebony Magazine are yet to release a public apology as earlier released by D’banj’s personal manager and the ‘I own mohits’ part of the interveiew still not excluded as of filing this report. http://questionmarkmag.com/2012/04/don-jazzy-replies-dbanj/ The Mo’hits boss further said in the unlikely event he decides to let the public knows his own side of the story, there is the tendency for his statements to be misconstrued and manipulated by mischief makers who he blamed use few accurate information to manipulate the public into believing things that never existed (a hint that the alleged email exchange is partially true or totally untrue); an ironical situation he hinted would force him to rather keep mute on the issue and let it die a natural death. “When this whole thing started, I felt people needed to know what’s happening and in all civility, maturity and wisdom, I made those less than 140 words tweet in 3 separate lines, now see where it has led me to. Mohits is a family and Dbanj is like its son and families do quarell. Expecting me to come out and start countering accusations by one of my best friends ever while accusing him also in the process doesn’t justify my guilt or my innocence or that of his, He (Dbanj) however has a right to his opinion to grant interviews to whoever he wishes to grant interview to, I won’t stop him and won’t stop anyone who wants to believe whatever he says either”, he said. In further attempts to get the Mo’hits boss talking, he was adamant but rightly so, reminding us of how those famous tweets confirming an apparent rift in the Mohits house got him into the messy situation as we see today. “It is with a heavy heart that I announce the end of a long era and the beginning of a new one..Some of the rumours you have all heard recently are sad but true…The way forward now is to make sure I keep bringing you guys more of the beautiful music y’all love to dance to….And to end d old era I will b donating the proceeds of my production catalogue from day one till date to five charity organizations. Thanks. IDJA” “Really, if I start responding to every single accusation, then the ‘lazy’ person I’ve been called would come out, and the ‘Fake’ person I am according to critics would obviously come out since I’m not a talkative and you the media know that, I want the handwork of my music productions and the proceeds of good music at Mo’hits to speak for itself, so asking me to comment on issues like this, I really am not just interested, personally my advice to fans is to concentrate on good music from Mo’hits and huhh….well even from Dbanj himself, music is what we were made to create and not controversies”, he added. It was not immediately clear the positions of other artists at the Mohits house at the time of filing the report as label members Wande Coal, Dr Sid and D’Prince have all been short of economical with their opinions on the rift between their bosses. As for Wande Coal who in an although diplomatic, yet paradoxically intended tweet to Dbanj said “God please don’t let the success you have given me get to my head to the extent that I will forget my humble beginnings”; the artist has however deleted the tweet shortly after – another debatable scenario which Dbanj sarcastically accused Don Jazzy of personally tweeting... http://questionmarkmag.com/2012/04/don-jazzy-replies-dbanj/ |
